Hey music lovers~
Music is an important part of our lives, it can change moods, uplift us or connect with our feelings and emotions. We can express ourselves through dance thanks to music so there is a lot to thank music for.
What type of music turns you on? Pumps you up? Centers you? Unleashes your inner animal? Touches you? How important is music in your life and what does it mean to you? List some of your favorite all time / current artists!
Please note this is not a thread to diss any type of music, just discuss your favorites.
Posting some links to your favorite songs would be awesome! _____________________________________________________
My favorite types of music are:
Oldies, 80-90`s, R&B, Rap, Pop, Rock, Metal, Techno, Classical, Jazz, Urban, Dance, Indian-pop. Recently added to my favorite types is music from Greece thanks to someone I met in our hangout thread. heart
Some of my favorite current artists are: (meaning people I am listening to at the moment) - Tenacious D - Rihanna - Lady Gaga - Ke$ha - Far East Movement - La Roux - Britney Spears - Usher

I'm all over the map. I can truly say I'm genre neutral. I love a great aria from an opera, I'm moved by Mozart, Bruno Mars transports me to teen summer lust, Kanye and Nikki Minaj make me laugh out loud (and I love Kanye for running tracks), Lady Gaga, Jack White, Leonard Cohen, KOOP (superchill Jazz), Johnny Cash, The Arcade Fire (Omg, the best right now), and my ultimate love: David Bowie.
But you can't pin me down on music. I might hear something totally new, but be in the right mood, and that's my new passion. biggrin

I am into music that moves me, whether it be physically or mentally. Like you I also enjoy Opera, especially Rock Opera. I Enjoy Mozart, Beethoven, Bach too. And David Bowie is pure sex, so I have to agree with you on that ultimate love!
Isn`t it great to have a passion enough for music that you can move from genre to genre? yay~
And a question for you, I noticed that you`ve said this before so I gotta ask. Is your "Jack White" the same as "Jack Black" or are we talking about two completely different singers? LOL!

Jack White is one of those Renaissance men, like Daniel Lanois (producer of U2, Arcade Fire, for a couple examples of his projects). He was originally in White Stripes, and has two newer bands, Dead Weather, and Raconteurs. He has also worked with quite a diversity of solo artists, including Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson, and Loretta Lynn! He's pretty cool.

I'm with Lyx. I'm all over the map when it comes to music. I can usually find something that I like no matter what type of music it is. I'm pretty sure someone listening to my mp3 player would go insane when it switches between Death Metal, to dance, to classical, to video game music, to country, then to rap. It's quite funny.
Obviously I'm a big Nine Inch Nails fan. I'm really proud of Trent Reznor for winning the award for best music in The Social Network. I'm also a big fan of Jack White's. Kinda sad The White Stripes won't be making any more albums, but it's bound to happen. Also a big fan of Placebo and Rammstein, and lately I've been listening to a lot of Lady Gaga, Pink, and Paramour because a friend of mine at work is a huge fan and got me to give it a listen.

More than likely. I have anxiety disorder and it's difficult for me to get through the day working a normal job and being a mom, let alone being on a stage and performing in front of millions of people. That would be way too much for me.

One of the songs I am really into right now is Born this way by Lady GaGa. I relate to that song a lot since I was bullied for a large portion of my childhood.

I've been listening to classical music for the most part lately. My favorites would be Gustav Holst, Maurice Ravel and Antonio Vivaldi.
In terms of more modern stuff, Franz Ferdinand and Queen are taking up the bulk of that part of my iPod, but there are a lot of odds and ends like David Bowie's Life on Mars, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, Nightwish's Over the Hills and Far Away and Puttin' On the Ritz as sung by the legendary Fred Astaire.

When I listen to classical music on the radio they never tell me who was the composer or the title or the music, it makes me angsty. mad
