The day was half over as Shen wandered cautiously out of the thick line of trees that surrounded the wide open meadow area. A tenuous smile on his face, as he rather hoped he would see a few familiar faces today. More importantly, he hoped he would come across his little Bacil. Ah..bigger Bacilio, he owed his darling desert prince a great deal, a great promise. He would have himself try to keep it, even if it felt strange to do. He was so used to carefree wandering, to find himself staying in one place that was not his usual desert home. It was..yes it was definitely strange. Shen knew he could make it work though, maybe even find something usefull for him and his son to do today? What did Bacil enjoy anyways? Hunting, exploring, preening? Shen felt a twinge of shame with himself, not even knowing the slightest little nuances of his boys personality. What kind of terrible father was he to not know his son even that littlest bit...
Despite all that, and shens darker musings. He held his head high and trotted neatly out into the field, horn catching the noon-day glints of sun. Narrow golden eyes spying the occasional tall shadow and deerlike form. Bacilio had to be around here somewhere?

What a glorious day it was. The sun was high and proud in the sky, shining it's bold presence to all whom dwell below. Bacilio loved it immensely; the light and heat combination proved to give his coat a beautiful gleam, and how it warmed his entire being. The buck was truly a child of the desert, perhaps even birthed from the domain itself. He was an onyx stone unsheathed from beneath the layers of grainy sand, summoned by the king himself; Shen. How he flourished in such weather.
On such days, the young prince diligently took advantage of such a climate, bathing in both water and sun. After all, he had to look his best. Once satisfied with the sheen to his sleek coat, the princling trotted blissfully along the warmed earth, cloven hooves ticking softly in the buffering grass. Today was bound to be glorious and wonderful, for it held all signs and full potential of such. Perhaps mother would like to spend time together! Brightening further at such a prospect, the yearling curved his already proudly lifted tail further, making his way towards the open meadows. He was thankful that Shen was keeping to his word. It gave the young buck hope that maybe he really could have appropriate parents, even if he were to exclude his birth father... whom he wanted nothing to do with any longer. Such recklessness... Shaking his head shamefully, he felt his features bundle up, smooth complexion scrunched in distaste. No.. not today. For once he would not curse his very kin for such irresponsible and selfish actions. Peeking his head past the out lying forest, gazing upon the meadow that held many deer grazing, he straightened himself up, and pranced right on in. He passed by plenty of herla, giving a few nods to some who spared a glance, a sweet smile lifted on his lips, head high to the heavens. But his laxed ears swiveled forward upon catching a familiar scent, eyes widening along with, "Mother.." he murmured, instantly spotting the sore thumb of a purple figure whom was none other than his mother. Livening even more, the buck daintily trotted right over, meeting the adult with a loving nuzzle to the eye leveled shoulder.

The bright sun was not quite to the liking of Erebus. He knew he mother enjoyed basking in it, warming her wings, and it was useful for catching snakes, but right now the large yearling would prefer to sleep it away. He was curled up in a deep thicket on the outskirts of the field; avoiding everyone. His own mama had been in a bad mood that morning and had sent him tumbling into a blackberry bush as he’d tried to say good morning; it was a good thing he had hands to pick out all the thorns with.
With moody yawn he peeked out of his over, red eyes narrowing slightly. A familiar form had appeared out on the field. He watched it for a time, wondering whether to bother. Erebus soon decided that Bacilio’s company would help make up for his mothers prickly temperament. The shadow unfurled himself and stepped out into the sunlight, following unseen along in Bacilio’s hoofsteps. He stopped short upon realising his friend had met up with another, older male and simply watched them greet one another for a moment. Erebus hissed uncertainly, shuffling from side to side before beginning a slow approach.

"Bacilio" Shen's smile was soft, entierly too motherly for his own tastes. Honestly he'd never 'once' not ever, considered himself to be a mother, to be anything other then 'male'. But motherhood was irrelevant in the face of such things, especially in the face of such a wonderfully growing son. A son he would keep his promises to.
"You look, brilliant" Shen chuckled, nuzzling Bacillio back softly, catching his scent and wondering at how the young buck seemed to smell of fresh water and sunshine. Did he always smell like that? Maybe..Shen himself preferred to smell like dirt..earthy, and on the rare occasion flowers. Because they truly were enjoyable things. "I missed you, and so I showed up, just like I promised I would. This..does count as keeping my promise yes?" And Shen's voice is teasing, bright eyes crinkling slightly with mirth.
That mirth quickly overshadowed by curiosity..and..a touch of fear, at the sight of the 'new' thing. Shuffling towards them. Shen could only think to describe it as a 'thing'. For he distinctly remembered instances of dealing directly with Rettai, those teeth were sharp, and those eyes very, very red. Even if his form was a tad bit more ghostly and large then the..decidedly smaller approaching being's. "Bacilio..maybe, we should, go elsewhere." Shen really didn't mean to sound nervous about it.

The yearling relished these times with his mother. The sweet affections, the scents, voice, even just the appearance of the desert native. It made him feel more connected, as if he belonged in the world. Most of his life he'd felt so alienated and alone, even if surrounded by friends and enemies, that having his true mother around gave the confidence and pride an actual glow. Pressing close to Shen, his dark little cheek resting on the warm smooth purple chest, he sighed contently as he basked in the bucks affections. Even if it wasn't a scent he'd chose for himself, it certainly suited his mother. Receiving such praise and compliments made the long tail adorned on his backside flicker and writhe blissfully, a wide smile spreading along his lips, "Thank you, mama~!" he cooed, rubbing a small cheek up and down the strong neck. Pulling back just a little to nuzzle underneath Shen's jaw, "I missed you too, mama..I'm glad you're here." he giggles softly, nodding in approval. Of course it counted! Any sort of time spent with the charming male counted! Rather oblivious to anyone else in the plain, his ears did p***k upon hearing Shen's rather shaky advice. Blinking emerald eyes up to the adult, his brows collected in a confused fashion, neck craning around to see where the other's eyeline was directed. Blinking again, this time in surprise, his ears swiveled forward in an alert position, "Ere!" he exclaimed excitedly, turning to prance on over to his dark friend. Once close enough, he instantly nuzzled against the larger yearling, smoothing his cheek to his, and following along the strong jaw, "Ere~<3 You came at such a great time! You can meet my mama, now!" he gleefully explained, turning to look back at Shen with a bright wide smile.
