You felt it in your bones -- the pulse of dark energy exploding like a dying star. It didn't take long for every Negaverse agent to arrive at the same building: a nondescript warehouse in the center of the cordoned-off portion of downtown DC left over from the Summer of the Sleeping Sickness. Somewhere inside, a communicator crystal had been destroyed. Was it a trap? Was it the last act of a desperate soldier?

They had to find out.

The call to arms went up, and those who were first to arrive answered it. Negas banked left and right, running along the perimeter and searching for the best point of entry. There were two options: bursting through the door at the North Wall or diving through the windows of the Southern Rampart. Time was of the essence -- no time to wait for the entire cavalry to roll into place.

You take your weapon in hand and charge in through the reinforced door on the North Wall alongside a small group of your fellow soldiers.

It was time to fight!

RESCUE TEAM TWO

1. General Serandite
2. Captain Sassolite
3. Corrupt Senshi Alkaid
4. Corrupt Cat Hiro
5. Lt. Fluorite
6. Lt. Bismuthite
7. Lt. Proustite
8. Lt. Kazite
9. Lt. Myalite
10. Lt. Moonstone
11. Lt. Kizakinite

The first room within the warehouse was empty -- no windows, no light, no sound. The only thing that was visible before the door slammed shut behind the rescue team was a mirror in one corner of the room and another door directly in front of them. The question is: do you open it?

ALL PARTICIPANTS SHOULD MAKE AN ENTRANCE POST TO ESTABLISH THEIR PRESENCE IN THE WAREHOUSE. LATECOMERS MAY POST THEIR ENTRANCE AT ANY TIME AND WILL HAVE TO 'CATCH UP' WITH THE GROUP -- BUT THE ASSUMPTION WILL BE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE THE START.

It had happened.

She had felt it deep within herself, coursing in her veins much like the dark energy that was slowly becoming something normal for her to feel. A wave. Aftershock.

"What was... ?" Where was Scheelite ? She had lost her captain in the rush, and she had no other choice but to follow on.with what other agents she was with now - none of which she knew safe for one feline - Hiro.

Hiro was here. He would protect her. Right ? Adrenaline coursed though her veins - was she scared ? Hell yes she was scared. Terrified, even, as she tried to remember everything she had learned all at once.

If her corruption was the entry test, then this was the first check point.

She couldn't afford to be scared. There was work to be done. Officers to save.

She knew none of these people, but she simply could not let them down.

Dark grey eyes peered desperately into the blackness, a bare hand reaching out to try and find a solid surface in order to better navigate, frowning once the door had been slammed shut, behind them.

She didn't know them very well, but that didn't matter.

Lieutenant Kazite shivered; not from the cold, but rather from something inside her very being, something foreboding... She felt lingering energy of the crystal when it had been destroyed, and then nothing more. Who had died? Was it someone she knew? One of the few people she had met upon being recruited to the Negaverse? She still felt like she had a lot to learn, but right now the most important thing was to find those who had been taken.

She needed to move. And fast... They all did.

Of course, it would have been a lot easier if there had been some lights... And it would probably help her concentration if she wasn't shaking as she was... Fear...? Probably... but she couldn't linger on it, not when they had a mission to fulfill.

"Do you think it's a trap?" she wondered out loud, and to no one in particular, her free hand reaching up to brush her long hair back, behind her shoulder. "There's nothing here..."

Billy had a cold, but that didn't mean s**t because he was hyped up on medicine and friggin duty, passion and raw desire to take back what was theirs. Of course, things were rather personal for the lieutenant. Then again, that was an understatement.

Bismuthite was there, figurative guns blazing. Who did he have with him? A currupt senshi, a cat, a couple of captains and other lieutenants. Bismuthite wasn't used to being a team player, but for the sake of those they were here to rescue? Well, as far as he knew his ego had gotten them in to this mess (He was still of the belief that all this was his fault, having killed Rota) that same ego would have to be thrown away to make it all right again.

He looked to his superiors for answers. Where to go from here? What move were they to make? It wasn't a operation to be taken without care. Even his illness and medicine fogged mind knew that much. And just like he was no team player, he had come to realize in these past two weeks that he wasn't yet that great of a tactician either. His first instinct would have been to strut right up to that door in front of them and travel deeper into the warehouse, but another part of him found the presence of a mirror to be odd. And the fact that he stilled himself to await action or order from his superiors was probably for the best. His instinct would have most likely turned out disastrous if something just so happened to be waiting outside that door. Not that he was conscious of that hindsight at the moment. That is why it is called hindsight.

Alkaid was not a leader.

Alkaid was a follower, a dedicated soldier that carried through the orders of the higher command. She had stormed into the warehouse at those orders but as she saw that door slam close, Alkaid was her own army. She didn't need orders because somewhere beyond that door was the rest of the warehouse, a maze of rooms and hallways.

Somewhere down those hallways in one of those rooms was Tanzanite.

Her hatred for the BMC was burning like a bright ball of fire deep in her gut and her need to prove herself and right all her failures had a grip around her tortured heart. She was one anxious, nervous ball of energy, like a child that could see candy on the top shelf but had no idea how to get it. Her only saving grace was her ability to appear calm and collected under the worst pressure. She had cried all the tears she had over her failure - she would not break down when Tanzanite and the others needed her the most.

Somewhere in this revelation (and her attempt to burn the door down with the glare in her eyes) she noticed something glimmering to her side. When she turned her head, she saw the mirror - large enough for someone to walk through. Months ago, that would have confused her, but now?

With that same calm look on her face, she broke rank and went to what appeared to be the only decoration in the room. Then her face contorted from that simple stoic expression into one of cold, barely contained rage. She spun on heel and lifted her other leg, driving the back of her foot right into the reflective surface with all the force she could. There was a split second as spiderwebs of cracks crawled outward from the impact point and then, with a ringing that echoed throughout the empty room, all the bits and pieces fell to the floor in a clamor at her feet.

"Destroy every mirror you see," she said, staring at the empty wall behind the hanging frame. Then she turned back to the troop, her face calm once more, and fell in beside Hiro.

When Alkaid shattered the mirror, something in the room clicked. The ceiling had something hanging from it -- a lot of stuff, actually. The tremors from the breaking mirror dislodged them. A tiny rain of mini-darts clattered down, striking anything they came into contact with! It would only take a few seconds for the Negas to realize that the darts were tipped with a mild paralyzing serum.

EVERYONE MUST ROLL ONE 6-SIDED DIE TO DETERMINE WHERE THE DART HITS.

1 - FACE! Uh oh... looks like someone will be drooling.
2 - Left arm! Hope you're a righty.
3 - Right thigh! Walking straight is going to be a challenge.
4 - Big toe! Oh... well. That isn't so bad actually.
5 - One in each buttcheek! This is just awkward.
6 - Neck! Now that pesky head just won't stand up straight...

THE EFFECTS WILL LAST FOR THE NEXT TWO ROUNDS!

Better get out of here quick -- you don't want to be hit by more than one dart!

Break the mirrors ?

Before Fluorite could ask why, darts came flying out of the broken remains - she summoned her card out of sheer nerves, but wasn't able to roll out of the way in time, and was hit right in the neck.

"s**t !"

She ripped the dart out and dashed toward the door, but as the dart's contents entered her bloodsteam... her head lopped on the side. Try as she might, she couldn't get her neck to do s**t ********, I think these are tranquilizers..."

No s**t, captain obvious.

His ears rang with the harsh sound of the slamming door. Lieutenant Proustite stood alongside his fellow agents, trusty hula hoop clutched defensively between fingers that twitched. They were all faces that he recognized, but there was only one that Proustite was… very familiar with.

Sassolite.

He hovered, at once companionable and protective, nearby his Captain and cast furtive glances around the room. It was difficult to see, in the darkness, and the sound of breaking glass made Jack jump. His knowledge of the BMC was limited, but he had heard some things.

Interesting things. In this case, interesting was not equated with good.

"Its too quiet," he said once the broken mirror ceased its eerie scream, and looped his hula hoop over his shoulder.

Proustite, unaware of the the darts that cascaded towards them from the ceiling stooped, at what was the exact wrong moment, and was very surprised. He shot up like a cannonball, and nearly gave himself whiplash when he checked to see what, exactly, had happened to his bottom.

"Hey guys," the corners of Proustite's lips twitched with amusement. He freed himself of those naughty darts, and let them clatter to the floor, "I can't feel my butt."

Bis was about to join Alkaid in mirror smashing - if he couldn't take out his aggression on someone, and order to attack an inanimate object would do. However this idea seemed about as good as the door one, as something came raining down...

Of course, the same thing probably would have happened if they had went for the door. Either action probably shook the room, which would trip the darts. At least, that was how it worked out in his mind. But if that was true, then shouldn't they have fallen when the door they came through slammed? Okay, probably best not to bother thinking about it. How about some, ooooh, i dunno, dodging!?

He tried to avoid any that came close to him, however there were a lot of them, and he was sluggish. One still managed to get him. His hand immediately came to the dart that struck his neck almost at the collar bone. s**t.

He pulled the thing out, and pocketed it. Maybe it would be of use later. He didn't happen to think it might be coated with anything....yet.

And then Fluo said it. Just as a sensation - it reminded him of the Novocaine he got when he visited the dentist once as a kid - started crawling up one side of his neck, and down part of his shoulder. It made it hard to turn his head, and he even kind of tilted it a little. Well s**t.

He DID bend down to pick up some of the darts that hadn't hit anyone. And pocketed two of those too. Three. Three was good.

"Destroy every mirror?" Kazite repeated, frowning in confusion. Why did that matter...? Maybe she was missing something?

Of course, she didn't have that much time to think about it, seeing as things started falling from the ceiling. So it was a trap!! She did her best to hold back a scream, but when things were falling from the ceiling, it was a little difficult to remember to keep her dignity intact.

She quickly lifted her arms over her head, making a run in the direction of the door she'd briefly seen before. If it was locked, well... hopefully they'd be able to muscle their way through.

Kazite felt something sharp hit her neck and she let out a small yelp in pain, feeling her head grow heavy. A dart?? She reached down to pull the dart out and throw it at the ground, before looking around at her teammates as she reached the other side of the room, hoping they were okay.

Alkaid had just opened her mouth to answer the question of mirrors - was she the only one in the room that knew what they were for? - when darts began to rain down around them.

She panicked and tried to cover Hiro's tiny form, worried about what might happen to him if those were tranquilizer darts. Then one landed and she felt numbness spread through her big toe and partially into the next. Well, she was right, but she was also lucky. Considering she had just smashed a mirror, she could have laughed.

Until she saw a dart land in the neck of one of her teammates.

Instantly she surged forward, abandoning Hiro to his own quick reflexes, and caught the lieutenant around her middle. "Lean your head on my shoulder," she hissed above the sound of soaring darts. She pulled Fluorite's left arm over her shoulder and moved forward after the lieutenant that was trying to get the door open.

They needed to move out of this room.

Hiro padded alongside Alkaid. He'd joined in on the raid to recover their kidnapped agents. Even if he hadn't been determined to not leave Alkaid's side, this was the sort of action the cat wanted to take part in. Hiro wasn't the 'sit around and wait for good news' type of cat. Right there in the middle of the action, that was where he wanted to be. Besides, a small feline might come in handy when infiltrating - able to squeeze where a human could not.

But Alkaid was definitely a priority. He'd seen how hard she was taking this whole kidnapping, and he wasn't about to leave her to do this alone. He'd promised her his support and assistance, and she was going to get just that.

"Good idea," he said to Alkaid when she mentioned smashing all the mirrors. Rumour was those Black Moon senshi could travel through them. The last thing they needed was a surprise attack from behind.

As the mirror was destroyed, darts suddenly flew through the air. It seemed Ares had thought ahead.

Feline reflexes served Hiro well. He leapt quickly through the room, avoiding the projectiles whirring through the air. One brushed through his fur, but luckily didn't strike flesh. He made it to the door with only a tiny nick on one paw - it had struck more claw than paw. Raising the injured foot, he shook it, perturbed at the slight numbing sensation. It was more like that one 'toe' was falling asleep. A mild irritant, nothing more.

He looked back to see who hadn't fared so well. Hiro's chest puffed out to see Alkaid was managing well, and assisting a teammate besides. That was his senshi!

Fluorite had been trying to make her way toward the door, alright, but this was hard when your field of vision was all skewed. She did tense when she felt an arm on her, but relaxed when she realized who it was. Alkaid. The one very particular energy signature she had decided she would use as a beacon if needed - the corrupted senshi's aura was strong and odd enough for even her to be able to pinpoint easily.

"Thank you..." She managed, doing her best to help herself in position. "I think the others got hit to, we need to get them outta here..."

The determined group of would-be rescuers changed from savage fighters to a group of strange sideshow characters -- all bobbing heads, sagging buttcheeks, and one really numb big toe. That was probably... awkward to walk on? Who knew! Some had definitely taken it worse than others. Some seemed mildly entertained by the darts.

One thing was clear: this safe house rescue was not going to be as simple as it had seemed.

On the other side of the closed door, a voice that some might recognize as Super Sailor Ares said, "Secure the captives. Kill them. No Nega will leave this building alive." It was muffled by the door, but clear enough for the Negas in the next room to get the message.

Hiro was glad to see Fluorite on Alkaid's arm, the two females he knew making it to the door. He eyed the others still in the room. His back hunched. It was irritating to not be able to help in a matter like this.

"It looks like Alkaid and I have been the least injured," or injected, as the case may be. Hiro shook his head. "I can't help carry anyone. But at least they're still on their feet."

That was the downside to being just a cat. Hiro was well aware that he should have had a human form (he knew Mau lore and physiology, not to mention having heard about the White Moon cats who's energy levels shone like a supanova when taking human form) - he just couldn't work out how to take it for the life of him.

Now, if someone would open the door, they could move away from the still-flying darts.

Feline ears pricked forward, picking up the muffled words from behind the door. "There's someone in the next room," he called out. "And we need to hurry!"

To finally find the captives, only to discovers corpses, would not be much of a rescue. To say nothing of what it would do to his Alkaid and the others who counted the missing Negas as friends.
