It was very early morning in the Rogue lands, the sun had not even begun to rise and Mapenzi was already up. Stirred awake by a rumbling stomach and a dried out mouth. Whoops, had she forgotten to feed herself again? It sure seemed that way at this point. She really needed to stop fazing out and remembering to do all these important things to sustain her. Stretching out from beneath the tree that she had slept under and ruffling her fur, she trottted out among the plains quietly. It was still dark out before dawn came and stars littereed the night sky like holes in a piece of paper. She looked up at them curiously for a bit before trying to focus herself. Food. that was top priority... or was water first? Mapenzi couldn't decide.

Anippe ran in leaps and bounds, her small frame lithe and supple as she slid through the grassy plains effortlessly. She needed to get there! To her Spot, the Spot where she went every other morning just at this time of night...well, almost morning. The air was crisp from night and a welcoming scent to the young lioness. She was a shadow in the darkness, the stars a blanket overhead. Damn, sometimes she almost liked night as much as she loved day... She slowed as she neared her spot, a large hill with a perfectly flat rock. Her paws touched the coolness and she smiled, tail wrapping around her paws as she sat. She smelled another lion near by--someone from the Rogue Lands, most likely. Still...she couldn't bear to miss her sunrise. So she began to sing, a fluting lullaby-like melody that arced through the air. Surely someone would hear it.

As Mapenzi wandered through the tall grass at her leisurely pace, her ears perked. What was this sound? It wasn't the call of a bird, no, not this early in the morning. Nor could it be anything else. Mapenzi had never really heard singing before. Or at least she couldn't remember it at all.
"That sounds... what is that?" Curiousity got to this at as she slowly snuck through the plains land at a creep now. Unsure what this odd, new sound was and if it was friendly or not.

Anippe's voice slowly petered out as the birds began to chirp their happy morning song. A smile twisted her lips into look of gentle peace, the only thing moving being the tip of her tail. She listened...and then turned her head at the soft sound of paws, heavy paws, coming closer. Fur prickled at the back of her neck. She peered through her pale bangs, teal eyes gleaming with a cubbish curiosity. She could spare a look around and still see the sunrise. Slowly, she rose and crept forwards, ears pricked. "Hello there," she smiled brightly as she caught sight of a adolescent with rainbow-striped paws. "What brings you out so early in the morning?"

Spotted! Mapenzi's fur stood straight up when she was caught by the sound of another lion that was near her! though... it wasn't a male voice, but a female one. OH WONDERFUL! Mapenzi had been running into a lot of men lately. It was nice to run into a lioness! She smoothed herself out and sat, looking over at the other lioness and noticing her beautiful jewelry.mapenzi had never sen such things, from what she could remember anyhow.
"H-Hello! I was... out to go find some water to drink. My mouth is awfully dry." Her paw rubbed her muzzle a bit, as if gesturing at it. At least she was much more willing to talk to girls than guys. "H-How are you this morning ma'am?" The shy adolescent glanced over at Anippe.

Anippe's lips curved into a grin at the young female's wariness; it was nice to see, to be honest...unlike herself, who was foolhardy and jumped head-long into dangerous situations, the rainbow adolescent seemed to be...smart. She flicked her tailtip across her paws as she sat straight, teal eyes locking into Mapenzi's own.
"I am wonderful," she admitted with a warm smile. "The dawn is my favorite time of day, when the sun turns the skies pink and hazy... I come here as often as I can, to watch from this very spot." She motioned with a paw towards the slab of rock. "Should you want to join me, I wouldn't deny ya," she said with a wink. She blew hair from her eyes like a teenager might, but without a hint of annoyance. "I'm Anippe of the Dawnwalkers," she said.

The young lioness tried copying her new accquaintance, blowing her own white bangs up, though it failed and got all over her face. She laughed a little in embarassment and did her usual small hairflip to brush it aside. Upon hearing Anippe state that this was her spot, black ears folded back and she crouched slightly. "O-Oh. I'I'm so sorry for intruding. I was just passing by, really." Thinking that this spot was claimed by Anippe herself. Still, looking it over it was a nice spot to watch the sunrise from. The darkness being shredded away slowly by deep pink.
"Dawn...walkers? Another pride?" Mapenzi was only recently learning about prides. So this made sense then, that this beautiful lioness would love the dawn. She was ina pride dedicated to it, well, that's what Mapenzi thought anyway. "M-My name is Mapenzi.. I'm from here, the Roguelands..." She stuttered.

Ani grinned, giggling softly when the younger lioness tried to mimic her hair-blowing. But when Mapenzi got defensive, Ani merely smiled. "No worries, pal. I don't mind sharing. The dawn is a beautiful sight to behold. Of course, you don't look directly into the sun...you just gaze upon the colors of the sky," she quipped matter-of-factly. She tapped the spot beside her with her tail, welcoming the young girl over. Man, she seemed so shy. Did being prideless do this to a girl?
"Yes, well. They're officially called Tuait'tekem," she nodded, then listened. "The Roguelands are beautiful. I find myself out here alot. Though..." She tipped her head to the sky, the stars fading slowly. "I would never leave. I have too many ties in Tuait." Family. She had a big family... And Kaume. A light blush danced across her cheeks at the thought of the big, pink lion. "What about you? Family, friends?"

Mapenzi saw Anippe gesture to the spot next to the lioness. She slinked over and sat beside her, though not too close for discomfort. Her head remained tilited down but her eyes glanced up to the sky. The darkness was beginning to fade slowly with the horizons sun line appearing and she watched the stars blink out slowly like candles being snuffed. It was interesting for her to be up this early, but forgetting to eat or drink yesterday made her body rumble her away.
"Family...? I-I have some... I don't remember much of them though..." She shyly admitted, her paw brushing at the ground softly. "I remember them a little bit from when I was a cub, but not much nowadays. I just sort of... left them it was my time to go, from what I can remember anyway. A-And no friends... just me about."

Anippe watched her, content to have the younger girl sitting beside her; Ani didn't feel she was over anyone, rogue or pride lion. Not even young'ins like this girl. Her tail curled around her paws and she licked the end, straightening out the fur before smiling warmly across to the female.
"You left your family? My... I don't think I could do that. I have a big one... Family. Not as many friends as I'd like, but I'm happy. I meet new faces every day," she said brightly, her sunny disposition not marred by the early hour. She faced the sun, watching it streak across the sky slowly, like a caterpillar emerging from a caccoon. "But hey, everyone has their own lives. If you're happy away from family, then that's great! I just wouldn't be."
Her eyes flicked to Mapenzi once again. "No boy to call your own? You're a pretty girl..."

Mapenzi's dark magenta eyes looked to the new rising sun as well and curled her tail around her paws as well. It was... a strange feeling to really sit and watch the sun rise over the horizon of the lands. She didn't know how to explain such a feeling, but it was nice, and warm. "W-Well... I think I left my family. I... don't really remember to be honest. Nor do I ha--" Her speech was cut off when Anippe asked about her having a boy. A BOY? Like, a BOYFRIEND? Mapenzi crouched a little bit in her sitting position and shook her head violently. "N-NO!! No I don't... I-I... just..." The nervous cat stuttered out words and unfinished phrases.
