The moon was so...lovely, pregnant and full. Angel's hands fell to her stomach, still pouchy from having her kittens. Kittens she'd given up without a thought. Hell, she didn't even know their names. They would never know her...and she would never know them.
She'd been okay with it at the time, helping out a gay couple in want of children--she knew she didn't want kids, but she had no problem carrying the two to term. And then she just...handed them over. It wasn't until she held them in her arms...that her heart melted just a little bit. She acted like giving them to their new daddies wasn't a problem when in reality? It broke her goddamn heart.
They'd been born on a full moon, and now the reoccurance stung her. Sitting atop the liquer store building's roof, a bottle of jack daniels in one hand, she fought down the pain.

Lana had gone off the deep end after she broke up with Owen yet again. This time, she said she was through with men. She wouldn't get back together with someone who just up and disappears on you. Sure, she had found him and they'd broken up formally, but still. She had actually LOVED that b*****d.
Growling to herself, she pushed colorful bangs out of her face and stalked down the streets, high as a kit, pissed, and needing a drink. She shoved her hands into her skirt pocket and looked up at the liquor store and frowned. They probably wouldn't sell to her. s**t! Going to a bar wasn't an option. Owen was a bar hopper and she didn't want to risk running into the b*****d unless he wanted her wrath. Because she had plenty of that.
Getting her last cigarette out of her pocket, the four foot eleven inch female lite up right there and started pacing in front of the door. "********."

The sharply uttered '********' drew Angel out of her reverie. Glancing down, she took another drag from the bottle and saw a bright-colored feline with white fur that gleamed under the light of the moon. Slowly, as she was more cautious now, she eased to the eaves to get a better look, her own ring tail swishing slightly.
"You look like you could use a drink..." Her voice was soft with husky tones, like someone who'd smoked too much when in fact she didn't smoke at all. Hell, maybe she'd try it. Her ringlet curls were dyed blond, but the colors had faded and she hadn't had the spirit to re-apply the dye. They danced around her face in the chill of the spring night. She held out the bottle, then crooked her fingers in a 'come hither' motion.

Her ears perked up at a voice and her eyes fell upon a girl she had seen before. Spoken to, before, in fact. A grin fell upon once pursed lips as Lana sauntered over, blowing smoke out as she took a drag of her cancer stick. She knew they were bad for you, but what was a girl to do when she didn't have a man beside her and was to high to think of anything else? Those ringlets made her jealous.
Jumping up to the roof was an easy task, a few boxes to the fire escape and there she was. She sat as she joined the familiar female and took the bottle with a little purr. At least someone else liked their liquor. "You're an angel. You have wings, baby," she murmured, shuddering and shaking her head after taking a swig. Naturally, she gave the bottle back and offered the girl her last cig. "Want a drag?"

As the lithe, tiny female got nearer, Angel recognized her as a female she'd...well...flirted with. Back when. Before the kids. She offered a small smile, her lipstick smudged from the bottle. She shrugged a little. "I remember you," she murmured, green eyes imploring. "You gave up men, am I right? Said they were bastards."
She watched the female take a deep drag, a smile playing on her lips. "Sure I am. With black-feathered wings...more like a demon in disguise." Her voice was wry. She eyed the cig. Oh, what the hell. Taking it between her fingers, she held it out for a light, assuming the girl had a lighter or a match on her. "What you wandering for, huh?"

"I gave them up. Again. They're all bastards. So, after we met, I got back with him and he just vanished again! Like that! Then when we did run into each other, he breaks up. No explanation." She reached out and re-lit the cigarette. Peering at the other female, she heard the tone and a grin pushed it's way to her lips. "I was wandering to get a drink. Now I got it!" She took another swig, enjoying the burn and hissed before giving it back to her.
Man, she love liquor. "'s is the second time I met you. Both times I had broken up with Owen. 's gotta be some kind of sign."

Angel listened, ears pricking up at the heat in Lana's words. She took a drag off the cigarette and promptly coughed at the smoke. "Oh hell," she laughed. She'd never done this before... Drinking, sure! Drugs, sometimes. Sex, often...or at least she used to. But smoking was new. She attempted another drag.
Her eyes glinted in the moonlight. "Mm. It does seem more of a coincidence. More like synchronicity," she murmured, studying the girl with the colors in her hair. I'm...well, you got it the first time. Angel." She stuck out her hand--her nails were bitten to the quick, a symbol of her nerves. "And you're Lana; I remember." She quirked a grin, then relaxed against the roof, coiled tail curling around her.
