Today was the day! Kaym’itan was able to snag a few days off from working as a night scout, which meant Rukopa could have the entire day to spend with him. This was the day she would express her true feelings for the male… She had a feeling (or at least, she hoped her feeling was true) that the male had felt the same way for her as she did for him, but today she would definitely find out.
Ru was traveling across the lands, weaving in and out of the border line as she gazed into the rogue lands one last time. This would be the last time she would probably see them, and frankly she didn’t care. She stepped out from the shadiness of the jungle, remembering the words of the people ringing in her mind.
”Do not travel outside the borders by yourself. Danger lurks all around.”
Frankly, Ru just thought the people were just paranoid; after all, they had come out of a big war that almost killed them off, and was just now beginning to flourish once more. She had lived in the rogue lands before coming to the land, and never had she experienced the danger that they warned her of.
As she sat in the sun, she soaked in it for just a few minutes (if she stayed any longer, her skin would surely burn), before rising to her feet, prepared to go back home. Her cerulean blue eyes gazed ahead as a white figure trudged along in the heat. She could only feel sorry for the male, having a white pelt she just knew how burnt his skin was getting.
“Hey! Come over here,” she called out to the male. “There’s shade!”
The lion’s ears perked forward as he narrowed his eyes, spotting the voice. Fresh Meat, Nafi. And look, she’s a pretty one too. Maybe we can have some fun before a meal. The voice in his head sneered, causing the lion to smirk. He shook his head, trotting quickly up to the female. His large red bushy mane was messy upon his head, as he gave the lioness a fake, sheepish smile. “This sun is murder on us, isn’t it!” Nafasi joked, following Ru into the shade of the jungle.
“Thank you kind lady,” he stated, looking around. “Are you here alone?” Nafasi had learned his lesson last time. He almost had the dopey charcoal male down and done with before that stupid maned wolf came in and stopped him. By the time he had come back to finish the deed, Suoh had disappeared, and no trail was left. He knew someone had helped him, but he didn’t know who. This time, he would not make that mistake.
Ru began to shake her head, but quickly stopped and changed it to a nod. “Yes…” she lied. She didn’t want to tell this male about the pride, for the red colors that daunted him were sometimes considered a warning sign to watch out for amongst the people. The lioness on the other hand, had known a few red lions out in the rogue lands and they were actually pretty friendly.
“I don’t like to travel in the sun…I managed to find this place before I got too bad out there. Night is the best time to travel for us, don’t you think?” Rukopa asked, giving the male a genuine smile.
Small Talk…I hate small talk. The voice spoke in his head, causing Nafasi to roll his eyes quickly before the fake smile was placed back on his maw. “Ah…yes, the sun is terrible on our pelts. Sometimes unforgiving too… Whatchur name m’am? So I may call upon it to thank you for showing an old lion like myself some hospitality.” Sure he wasn’t old, but Ru didn’t need to know that. His white pelt mimicked the aging process in lions. Bravo, Nafi, the voice hissed, I didn’t think you could do this act. Perhaps we should try it again on another unsuspecting female.
“Oh? Oh! I’m sorry, I’m Ru!” She had settled just for giving a nickname, as her full name was rather long, and hated when others continued to call her by it when she insisted just Ru was fine.
“You are welcomed to stay here, I think I am going to…explore the lands. I’m a bit of an adventurer you know? And what better place to explore than a jungle where the sun cannot get me!” The female joking, itching to go find Kaym’itan.
“Oh…well than miss Ru, maybe I should accompany you? I mean, it is only fair to let me repay you! Besides, you don’t know what sort of creatures may inhabit these lands…you don’t want to get hurt now, do you?” Nafasi’s tone had changed. Ru had definitely caught up on that. He moved closer to her, slowly, as a glare began to form within his famous deep blue eyes.
Ru looked back at the male, stepping ahead of herself as he approached. “Um…no thanks sir, I am sure I will be fine…” She murmured, turning herself around so her back wasn’t towards the male. “I’m…a big girl, I can fend for myself?”
“Really?” Nafasi sneered, his claws slowly drifting from their hiding spots. “I sure would like to see /that/.” He didn’t wait another moment as he launched himself with a roar at Ru.
The lioness quickly dodged the attack, jumping on a tree limb to avoid the other’s attack. “What the hell is wrong with you?” Ru shouted, barely missing Nafasi’s next attack. “Knock it off, this isn’t funny!” She growled, feeling claws slowly sink into her back, skinning it down her hips.
The white female swiped a claw at the male, hitting his eyebrow successfully clawing down his cheek. Nafasi seemed to only get madder at this as his eyes flashed red with hate. Don’t like her mark you like that. GET HER. The voice shouted, as Nafasi’s maw connected with the white pelt on Ru’s neck.
Ru clenched her eyes shut as pain coursed through her body. The lion was relentless with his attack, knocking the female off guard. A roar emitted from the lioness’s maw as the male went for the attack again.
Kaym’itan…help…. she thought to herself, shakily bracing herself for the impact of the male. At this rate, she wasn’t going to last much longer.
