The spring air felt cool against her fur. The gentle breeze lifting her long mane, whisking it about her body. She loved this time of day, this time of month, of year. It was always so gentle, and quiet. Her ears flickered as she walked the plains, watching the grass and flowers roll with the wind. It was around this time of year that she had emerged from her basket. She knew her birthday was coming up, and with that, she realized just how much time had passed, and how badly she wished she had started the family she always wanted.
But that was for another time. Uhra's gentle eyes flickered up and then about the wind swept grass. She smiled, gentle and soft, before leaning and taking a small nibble at bits of the softer part, eyes closed, relaxing, her white body contrasting with the green very well. Uhra's body was completely relaxed, under guarded. To put it simply, if a Skinwalker walked by, she'd be a prime target.

Oloneric's hooves moved him forward slowly. The small colt was hesitant in his movements, unsure of himself. He really shouldn't have wandered this far from home, it had been a complete accident. And now, well he wasn't lost, he did know the way back home, but he was curious about what was ahead. Oloneric was grateful that his green fur allowed him to blend in with the lush spring grasses or else he probably would have hightailed it home for fear of being eaten or something. Wide eyes looked about in a mix of awe and anticipation. Now see this wasn't so bad, he told himself when he spotted no immediate danger.
Continuing forward Oloneric felt a little less worried about his surroundings now. When he caught sight of something white and blue up ahead he froze for a moment, then when he realized that it wasn't anything to worry about and was actually an usdia mare he relaxed a bit. Poking his head above the grass he watched her silently from a short distance away. Why she looked like she was asleep. No not asleep, but she did have her eyes closed. Taking a single step forward his eyes fell upon the marking on her back and he was curious as to what it was. Still he didn't want to get too close, not yet, he wasn't as bold as his brother was so he tended to stay back and observe before ever getting too close.

Uhra continued to quietly nibble on the grass, her eyes closed. She nibbled lightly toward the tops of some of the sweeter grasses, and then toward the top of some of the others. She took a small step forward to get to some of the grasses she wanted, her muscles giving a small tremble from the shift, before settling firm again. It was then that her ear swiveled, hearing a noise in the brush, and she lifted her head, causing the wind to catch it again. She glanced over toward the little colt, staring quietly toward him.
"Hello there, little one." She said, voice soft, walking quietly toward him, very slowly, just in case he was more shy. She lowered her head lightly, so it was about the same level as his, her tail flicking lightly, causing the long blue strands to flicker some, before she tilted her head lightly, eying him curiously. He looked... familiar, to her.

The moment the mare looked at him Oloneric froze. Well she didn't seem all that scary but his shy ways made him a bit hesitant to trust or open up. Still when she lowered her head so that she was at his level it made him relax just a bit. "Oh...um...hello." He said somewhat shyly, turning his eyes away for a moment. He hadn't had much interaction with those outside of his family herd so meeting a stranger was something completely new and different for him. If Syrrin were here his brother would have boldly stepped forward to greet the mare and maybe even want to play with her, but Oloneric was not like that so he remained quiet for a few moments while simply looking at the mare.
As he preformed his quiet moments of observation Oloneric's tail swished back and fourth, partially in indecision as to what to do next and the other out of habit to occupy himself while watching his current subject. Moments passed and finally he decided to speak once more. "What are you?" He asked her somewhat hesitantly, almost as if he was unsure if he should even be talking to this stranger or not. She didn't look evil, and he recognized her as a fellow Usdia so there shouldn't be any negative backlash from doing so.

Uhra waited quietly as the male seemed to situate himself. She watched his body shift, moving from such nerves. She didn't moved, not wanting to allow her body movement to scare the little foal. The last child she had met, was very outgoing. This one seemed so quiet, and scared. An almost concerned look crossed her features. She still couldn't place where she had seen this coloration style before. It was so familiar. She flickered her gaze, before her ears perked at the question, and she lifted her head a bit, holding it that low having caused a small kink in her spine.
"What am I? Why, little one, I'm an Usdia just as you are... just from a different family." She explained gently. She lowered herself lightly to the ground, laying down, her tail pooling around her body, just as her hair did as well. She watched him lightly, the little colt just appearing far too adorable to her. "My name is Uhra... What is yours, little one?" She asked, voice soft.

Oloneric blinked and pulled his ears back in embarrassment. Oh he hadn't meant to ask what she was, he knew what she was, an Usdia just like him. His nerves had made him mess that up. In fact he had meant to ask who she was. Well at least she answered his unspoken question and didn't make fun of him for messing up. Once the mare was laying down on the ground he felt a bit more comfortable. How could se possibly cause him harm if she was laying down. Short tail swished behind him as he considered for a moment. He should lay down too...but he decided to wait and remain standing for right now, just in case.
"Um...I'm Oloneric." He told her with a slight nod. Glancing down at his hooves for a moment Oloneric then raised them again and looked at the mare. "But grandpa calls me Olo." He didn't mind the nickname, in fact he loved it, especially since it was his grandfather who gave it to him. Oloneric had a certain fondness of his grandfather, the light grey stallion enjoyed teaching him things about the world and didn't make him do any rough housing. "What's that?" He asked pointing to the marking on her back, that was now half hidden by her mane.

Uhra watched the little colt with interest, her ears swiveling some, before she smiled very softly, and tilted her head. He seemed conflicted by her, as if he wasn't sure what she was going to do next. Uhra was a very predictable mare, at the most. She rarely did anything that would surprise anyone. Her ears flicked slightly, before she shook out her mane again, and smiled, hearing his name, and the nickname his grandfather had given him. "Olo? That sounds like a very good nickname to me, little one."
Shifting her position, Uhra's ears swiveled when the colt presented her with a question. She tilted her head, following his gaze to the marking that traced along her back and down her shoulder. A soft smile formed onto her lips as she turned back toward him, her eyes gentle. "It's a tribal marking. I've gotten a lot of different feedback on what it looks like. My father had them all over his little body. I was lucky enough to get just one of them." She explained her voice soft, gentle.

Her smile soothed the last of his worries away and slowly he lowered himself down to lay in front of her, his short tail flicked back and forth as he did. "I...I like it when he calls me Olo." It was a special name that only his grandfather used, well and his mother on random occasions. His ears perked forward as she described what the markings were. Tribal markings? He had never heard nor seen of them before today. They were really neat.
He couldn't even imagine seeing someone covered completely with them. Oloneric was quite taken by them. "My mom has skulls and spider webs like me, grandpa has them too...well not the spider webs." He looked away bashfully again, still not used to talking to strangers. "But...I get the green from my daddy. He's not around much though." He cherished what little time he had with his father and some days wished he could live with them all the time. "Do you live with your mom and dad?" It may not have seemed like an odd question to him, asking an adult if they still lived with their parents, but his mom still lived with her father, so perhaps Uhra did as well.

Uhra watched the small colt carefully, ensuring that she didn't move in a way to frighten the poor thing. She flicked her ears, watching as he lowered himself down to lay, and smiled a bit more toward him, shifting her weight. She listened as he talked, nodding her head gently. The poor boy needed a father, but, sometimes they couldn't always get what they needed. It was the way of life. Her own mate was gone often, but when he was around she cherished every moment of it.
"I see... Well, little one, I'm sure your father is off doing something very important, and loves every moment he spends with you." She smiled toward him, nodding her head to clarify she meant it, before her ears perked at the question. Her mother and father? A look of sadness crossed through her eyes, but she kept the gentle smile on hear features. "Sadly, no. I lived on my own until recently, when I found someone very special to be with. My parents died when I was still a little filly." She explained, her voice quiet.

Oloneric took in what Uhra had to say and nodded his head in acknowledgment of those words. He knew that father cherished the time he did get to spend with him and his brother, and often said he wished he could visit more often. Soon he would be old enough to go visit his father where he lived, but until then he was content with the time he did get with his father. Ears flicked as she spoke of her own parents. He had never experienced a death in the family but could only imagine the pain at losing ones parents.
"Oh." Honestly he didn't know what to say, he had his parents, though his father only came around here and there, but what would it be like to grow up without ones parents at all. But she said she was living with someone special now, and that part made his smile just a bit. His big eyes looked at her curiously, as if he had some unspoken question lingering in his mind yet didn't quite wish to ask it just yet.

Uhra watched that little foal shift. Her eyes flickered quietly, watching him. She smiled gently, her ears flickering, before she laid her head down on her legs, watching him with golden eyes. He seemed curious about something or another. Something that seemed confusing to her as well. She watched with light eyes before her head tilted, and she let out a soft breath, eyes closing for a second, before opening and locking on him again.
"What's on your mind, little Oloneric? Is there something you want to ask?" She asked gently, encouraging him to speak his mind. She didn't mind questions. They were a way to bloom one's mind and make them learn more and more. She herself used to ask a ton of questions when she could.

He watched her intently, the ways she moved, the way the light wind shifted her mane, it was all quite interesting. Not often was he able to observe from this close, to catch all the details he might have other wise missed from a distance. All those thoughts came to a grinding halt when she spoke and suddenly Oloneric realized that he had been staring at her - how rude of him. "Oh...um...yes..." His mind was suddenly flustered that he had been caught looking at her like that and now he scrambled to think of what it was that he had wished to ask her.
Ears flicked as he thought about it, then he looked from one side to the other. Oh darn. Face wrinkled as he struggled to remember what his question had been. "Um....I forgot." He finally told her bashfully after a few moments, horribly embarrassed that he had already forgotten the question he had planned to ask her.

Uhra watched the colt with interest, her head tilting lightly to the side, staring toward him back. She giggled when he seemed caught off guard, her eyes closing, shaking her head for a second, the movement causing her mane to shift over along one eye, before settling. Her eyes opened again, and re-focused on Oloneric, a gentle look held within them.
"That is all right, little one. Everyone forgets something at some point in time, especially when distracted." She explained, voice gentle.

Knowing that others forgot sometimes made him relax a bit and feel less embarrassed. Letting out a laugh he smiled widely at Uhra. "I've never forgotten before." He admitted with a nod of his head. Well whatever his question had been it couldn't have been that important since he still couldn't remember it. Or perhaps it was just that he wasn't used to speaking with strangers at length. Guess that the familiarity of it would come with time and different encounters. Though he didn't think he was distracted, at least not too much.
A moment later a butterfly flew past the pair and Oloneric's ears perked forward and his head lifted some. "Hey look there." He pointed with his muzzle. "Isn't that butterfly beautiful. My grandpa told me all about those, they migrate to different lands in the winter so they can survive." Ah, he did love talking about insects and was one of the few times when he would be overly talkative...even around strangers.

Uhra's eyes flickered gently, staring toward the butterfly. She smiled some, before her eyes glanced back down at the colt. She couldn't wait till she had her own family. Till she could teach her own children things that they were sure to love to know. She just couldn't wait. Her ears flicked, before she glanced back at the butterfly. "It's a pretty butterfly. You know a lot about bugs, don't you?" She said, glancing down toward him with that soft look she always seemed to have.
