Rei yawned, lazy eyes blinking slowly as he stretched his body to its full extension. The sun was low in the sky, quickly turning a bright shade of orange and he would soon need to find some shelter for the night. As tempting as trees were, he hadn’t climbed one ever since he’d taken a nasty fall – in front of a pretty girl, as if the physical pain wasn’t bad enough – so a den, a cave or simply some dense bushes were now his preferential target.

The orange lion stopped for a moment, suddenly noticing the scents brought by the wind. Lions. A great number of them, too. He was probably getting close to a pride, Rei thought to himself as he moved forward again. He shook his head violently in an attempt to discard the drowsiness that was taking over and began paying more attention to his surroundings. Hardly one to be cautious by nature, even Rei was aware that there were some strange and dangerous prides out there and it wouldn’t hurt to be on the safe side. As he kept walking, he could swear he heard an unfamiliar sound in the distance. Was it… thunder?

That sound was, in fact, not thunder. It wasn't thunder at all, it was a sound that a spotted lioness was used to was basically part of. Vevilla sat in front of a den. She had her paws rapidly beating on a drum, everyone in her pride owned a drum no matter what they wanted to do, if they sang, dance or did the drums of course! Everyone owned on and she defiantly had one. She was at the borders of the den, settled into a den that was toward the borders. She would have been in the dens at home however she had stepped out of the den pride for a little while and she knew that she couldn't make it back before the sun was setting.

So she found herself in the den waiting for the morning so that she could go home and then settle back in. Even though she never really left for too long it was still long enough to miss being home and missed her family. All of her family was in the pride and with that and she was glad to be back in the lands even if she wasn't completely home yet.

Thats was why she was drumming at the moment. She was happy and the best way she knew how to celebrate was to drum and sing. But the drumming came to a stop and she sang.

"Woza, oh woza
Woza mfana
Oh woza"

Singing was what she was used to, she was pretty good at drumming however on the other hand she was more used to singing. It was what she enjoyed more and it was what she was used to. However in her own little celebration she was really not aware of the male coming her way, just as he wasn't aware that the sound wasn't thunder. So she sang.

"Busa le lizwe bo
Busa le lizwe bo
Busa le lizwe bo
Busa lomhlaba."

Thunder didn’t have rhythm, Rei was quite certain of it. At least not from his personal experience. He had to admit to being curious and curiosity loved recklessness. The orange lion couldn’t resist padding forward, noting how the sounds became less like the thunder he’d heard so many time before and more like some sort of… music? As he drew even closer – quite unable to stop himself at this point – he spotted two very interesting things: a den, something he had been looking for a while now and a beautiful pale lioness standing in front of it and apparently she was the source of the intriguing sounds. He heard about them before but this was the first time Rei was seeing a drum.

“Ev-“ he almost greeted her when the drumming stopped but the lioness immediately started singing and Rei hesitated for a moment stopping a good distance away, not keen on interrupting the lioness. Surprise and fascination were plainly written on his face as he leaned back to sit very slowly, trying not look intimidating. He hoped she would take a while to notice him because he was actually enjoying listening to her voice.

Vevilla was into her art, when she started she barely ever stopped, however for once she was slightly distracted, as she belted out the song of her pride she heard a voice, just for a second but she was already starting to sing again. She didn't mind being slightly interrupted for a moment she just continued once again. She wasn't done and she wanted to finish. She did realize that he was a male. The pride was a little less welcoming to males but she didn't understand why she was very much okay with guys. On the other hand she was a little curious of the stranger she had never seen him before.

As she finished the last note she looked over at the male and nodded, pushing her drum to the side behind herself. She then turned toward him and smiled brightly the normal smile that she did. "Hello stranger" She said giving him a nod She stretched her front legs out before settling back on her haunches. He seemed friendly enough and she felt it was right to welcome him into her den she wasn't too sure about pride or why he was here but she wasn't one to turn away a stranger not at all. "Who are you?" she asked curiously to him, she didn't know all of the members of the pride but she knew that he was not one of them for sure.

Ah, a smile. That was certainly a good start. And… red eyes. He could hardly believe it, it seemed every lioness he’d met lately had red eyes! They were a constant reminder of who he’d left behind in the Pridelands and everything he was desperately trying to forget but he found them mesmerizing nonetheless.

“Hello! I’m Rei.” He stood up and walked a few of steps in the lioness’ direction, hoping she would give him her name in return. He mirrored her smile with ease. “I apologize for the intrusion, I was curious about the sounds coming from here.”

His purple gaze fell to the object behind her, silently taking in its shape and working out how it might work for a few seconds before the orange lion sat down at a more comfortable distance. “I’ve never seen one of those before.”

“I knew the name but I’d never heard one being used… ah, played before. You’re very good at it.” He said honestly and smiled more widely. “Before I came closer, though, I thought there was a thunderstorm coming.”

He laughed. Vevilla was easy to be around. It was a good change from the typical skittish jumpy girls he tended to meet in the rogue lands. The red eyes would still need some time for Rei to get used to though.

“Oh, actually I’m just passing through. If I wasn’t curious, I wouldn’t even have come this close to your pride’s borders.” He looked beyond the lioness to confirm they were alone. Getting so close to an unfamiliar pride wasn’t usually a very good idea. “I hope you don’t have some mean guards ready to kick me out.”

Vevilla looked up at the male then chuckled a little nodding in agreement. "Ah! Not many people have, it seems as though unless you were born in the pride you've never really heard one." She smiled at the male before chuckling a little more. "On the other hand now you've seen one!" She giggled again still in a very good mood. She smelt the air before speaking again. "It smells like there might be a thunder storm coming, you never know." She chuckled again before speaking once again. "I know that it can occasionally be confused for one thats for sure." She chuckled again nodding, she had had many others be confused with it. "You should hear it at other times, during the day when everyone is playing it sounds even more like it."

Vevilla laughed and shook her head. "you're right on the borders, it's our pride but you have nothing to worry about." She smiled then nodded to him once again. "Our pride is normally much more cautious around males, however if you're with me you're safe, we won't turn a wanderer away on a night." She nodded again before stretching her limbs out and pausing to talk once again. "I did want some company tonight, if you have no where to go for the night.'Shepurred some as she spoke to him. He was quite handsome and as the females in her family she was pretty flirty at times. It was pretty true she really was flirty She liked flirting with males when she got the chance, she could see why her grandmother and her grandfather enjoyed it.

“You think?” Rei eyed the sky, warily, already anticipating the potential storm. If the lioness was right, it would be wise to find a bit of cover. At least his mind was put at ease when it came to Vevilla’s pride. Good, it didn’t sound like he’d be in trouble if he stayed close to the red-eyed lioness. “I guess I should stick to you, then.” He winked playfully though the orange lion didn’t have any hidden intentions… yet. Which was why her next words caught him off guard and it showed.

“I would very much like that.” He said a little more seriously, his gaze slightly more intense now. He hadn’t expected her invitation but he was pleasantly surprised. A more cautious lion would certainly have been more careful of following a stranger he knew nothing about (she could part of a pride of cannibals for all he knew!) but Rei was hardly a cautious lion and the risk of trouble was certainly worth it when it came to a girl like Vevilla. “I was thinking of finding some cover for the night and your pride sounds lovely.” Just like you. “And your company would be most welcomed.”

Vevilla chuckled and then nodded at him and flicked her hair out of her eyes before speaking to him with a smile. "I'm pretty sure." She really didn't bother to look but she stood up and gathered up her drum before moving into the den. It wasn't that big of a den but it was big enough for both of them and it was big enough to also be comfortable and even have a few more in there. It was nice and it was one of her favorites in the pride. She looked at him then winked in return as she started to settle into the area then moving the drum into the back. She was a very trusting liones raised to trust the others around her e ven if she really never met them. But yet at the same time she didn't want the other near her drum, she loved it too much.

She smiled again before purring a little quietly once again and nodding at him. "well. I'd also really enjoy some company, I've been pretty lonely around here recently." She laid down and stretched herself out making herself as comfortable as she could get.

“Lonely? Now that won’t do.” It was hard to believe such a pretty lioness would have trouble finding company. Rei very much suspected the hidden interference of an older brother or her father in the matter. He took her wink as a clear invitation and followed Vevilla into the den. “Excuse me.” He whispered automatically as he crossed the threshold. It was nice and cozy in there, the perft spot if it truly was about to rain.

Slowly moving closer to the pale lioness in a testing the waters sort of way, the orange lion plopped down next to Vevilla. He wasn’t quite touching her but if either were to lean towards the other, their bodies would definitely touch. More than anything else now, it was a game of purposeful looks, tiny glances and accidental rubs. He looked around the den. “It’s very nice here.”

Vevilla nodded and then laughed again. "Yes, it really doesn't do." She chuckled some it was pretty true she didn't like to be lonely and even though she loved spending time with her father and her siblings however on the other hand she was glad to see some one that wasn't part of the pride and some one who wasn't some one that she had to see everyday. She flicked her hair out of her eyes and then chuckled some. It was company and it was interesting and it was something new and exciting. She was glad for some company.

"It is very nice in here." She said smirking at her with a chuckle she paused and then flicked her hair again before movingly slowly and leaning against him.

Rei smiled at her touch, glad that he had not misunderstood her. He watched the sunlight grow redder from their spot as he formed new plans for the next few days. What would happen, would happen – and he believed he had a pretty good idea of what would happen tonight – but he considered staying there for a while. Maybe even get a tour of the pride, if they truly were as friendly as Vevilla had made them out to be.

“I will try not to bore you, then.” Rei said with a hint of a purr, lowering his head to rest over Vevilla’s, a quiet content sigh leaving his similing mouth.

Vevilla was glad to have the company, she purred quietly as she leaned against him before she thought about it for a moment she laid her head against him and returned the purr and made herself more comfortable before looking at him with a smile. "Trust me I have a feeling you won't be boring." She said with a wink
