So, here's the fat skinny:
Deception will focus on Gillian Grayson (character from Ascension), but unlike the previous three novels, this one won't be written by Drew Karpyshyn but by William C. Dietz.
Deception will drop September 27th.

Woot. More Gillian means more Hendel and more Quarian plot. Can't wait to find out what happened with the Idenna's mission to find another homeworld for the Quarian's.

I'm guessing it was unsucessful since in ME2 there is a side mission where the scout ship for the Idenna (Cynaid if I remember right) is in trouble again. Once done, you get a message from Captain Mal.

I remember that mission and it was just a scout ship that crashed, not the Idenna itself. And Cap Mal sent you a thank you letter for rescuing the surviving crew member from the Cyniad, and a thanks for the Normandy's efforts in furthering the search for a new quarian homeworld. So we don't know if the mission was a failure or not.

I guess that it was a failure since their mission was to find a habital planet or a deralect Reaper, both of which seems like neither happened. Also, wouldn't they have taken their scout ship with them in case they did find a planet and wanted to take a closer look?

Yeah, looks like Deception is a huge pass. There's 90 errors in lore and counting, the writing is horrible, and the Mass Effect wiki community is asking that it be struck from canon lore.

And I thought that Retribution was bad.

I've heard nothing but bad things about it ... pity really because the others weren't bad.

Not as good as the Assassins Creed ones but good none the less.
