He was a tired but feeling accomplished.
It had been a little while now since he was training De'zi and he just got done with a duel with the other male and was really feeling the impact on how much the male had grown both physically and as a warrior since the first time he saw the male. It was kind of sad but at the same time very interesting. Even though it didn't appear that De'zi was going to go some where it still made him think if the young male was going to leave him and Ka'ohu. This idea unsettled him. Not only did he not want De'zi one fo the best friends that he has known and part of the reason for him to leave his pride but there was another interesting reason.
At first he wasn't sure what there was about the lioness. She wasn't the nicest to him and he knew for a fact that he really was mostly around for the younger male but he was slowly becoming interested in Ka. He was seeing the softer side of her with De'zi. He had so much of a interest in that. She was interesting but he didn't know how to feel about her. Especially when it appeared as if she wanted nothing to do with him. Having a regular conversation with her was a little difficult.
So now a he watched De'zi wander away knowing that he was heading toward a watering hole and Ceyx wandering back to the den he was wondering how this was going to go, how she was going to be able to react to him. He normally had De'zi with them so now it was going to be just him and her until De'zi got back. He really wanted a conversation but at the same time he was really just hoping for everything to go okay. Yet a small part of him wished that she wasn't even there. She was nice, he had seen it before but at the same time he was confused by her and he wasn't even too sure why. He couldn't pin point what happened between them. He really hoped that he had never offended her.
He approached the den slowly, peaking in he couldn't see the back of it she could have been there. Or maybe she was around the den? He wasn't sure. "Ka'ohu?" HE called out mostly into the den hoping to hear an answer but yet hoping not to.

She was home but it took her a moment to respond. Growling low under her breath - to herself - she considered staying quiet and letting the male go away. After all, she still didn't trust him - or so she told herself. In truth, though her demeanour towards him had not softened (she still through insults and snapped) she had come to realise he was at least true to his word. He had stayed to teach De'zi just as he had promised. And...the boy seemed happy, too.
But it was getting awkward.
She didn't want to learn to trust him. She was afraid to. After all, the last male she had trusted had simply used her and then discarded her and he had been her only friend...but even that was a lie.
He had not been her friend.
She didn't want to have to go through that again. It had been so painful the first time and...it had left her so desperately lonely. There was no saying what would have happened to her if De'zi had not been there to keep her company and give her purpose. But he was growing and...what if he left, too?
So, with all this thoughts in her head, it was hardly surprising that she was almost constantly in a bad mood and Ceyx appearing here, unprompted, made her nervous and twitchy, Maybe she ought to tell him to leave now. Yes. Good plan.
She shoved her way out of the den, sneering a little as she lifted her eyes to meet his. Her scruffy fur was perhaps a little less tangled and dusty as it had once been, but she still carried the air of being unkempt. Frowning, she met his eyes, brows furrowed and growled.
"What yoo want?" She asked in her thick, brutish accent.

It was quiet at first, he was thinking that he could turn around. He wasn't that sure though, he wasn't too sure where she would have gone but maybe she wasn't there?
Ceyx was surprised by the sound of the lioness. He was about to turn around and even though he thought she was in there the sound of her voice still surprised the large male. He calmed himself before he turned around and smiled at her and then nodded. "Hello there." He spoke ignoring her question at first. He wandered in some making sure to leave space between them he didn't want to make her uncomfortable even though he had a bit of a feeling she already was feeling uncomfortable. He felt like he already wasn't getting that far, apparently that was a little disappointing.
"I was just checking if you were here. De'zi went off to catch some food." He nodded, "so I thought I'd come back here for a little while until he gets back we're done for the day." He wanted to tell her about the progress that De'zi had been making but he wasn't too sure if she'd want to hear it from him he was thinking that it would be a better idea for De'zi to tell her but at the same time he wasn't too sure. "How are you?" He offered, he was trying to be as friendly as possible to the female. He didn't want to leave but he didn't want to sit here awkwardly that would be even worse, he thought it was anyway. He flicked his tail around behind him as he thought about it.

Ka'ohu flicked an ear, narrowing her eyes at the male. She wasn't sure what annoyed her more. The fact that he had kept to his word and stuck around to help De'zi, or the fact that she may have been wrong about him. Part of her had wanted him to just ditch them so that she could be proved right in her theory about males.
Grumbling to herself, she sat and blew the straggles of hair out of her eyes. "Meh? Fine." She replied stiffly. "Yer trainin' almost done, eh?"
De'zi was growing fast and from what she had seen of their training, he was becoming a good warrior - thanks to Ceyx.
"Guess yah'll be headin' off soon as yah taugh' 'im all yah know."

Ceyx nodded at the lioness before settling back on his haunches She seemed okay with talking and that was good, he was pretty sure it was good anyway. She was grumbling some but it wasn't the first time that he had heard it. He paused before nodding making sure to listen to her he didn't want to interrupt her. "I'm glad you're fine." He nodded, he knew that it was good. Fine was better than nothing. He thought for a moment and then chuckled some. "We're getting there. For today I am but in the long run he's getting better, and better everyday." It was true. He was proud of the male. "You have to train every day but every day I see him getting better." He large male smiled it was true.
"De'zi doesn't want me to leave." He said quietly for a moment before looking down at his paws and then speaking again. "He told me that before, he said I'm like his dad just as much as you're like his mom." He paused before speaking again. "From what I can see he's not going anywhere any time soon." He chuckled at the idea, it was pretty true. It seemed as though De'zi was enjoying the idea of staying here. He enjoyed it too, he was hoping that he was going to be able to stay, at the moment this was really all that he knew. There was his pride but he really didn't want to go back there, his family was there but it just wasn't where he fit in.
He thought for a moment before speaking to her. It was kind of blunt but he was curious. "Is there something wrong with me?" He questioned her.

She was glowering at him silently as he spoke, no indication that she was even listening to him. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. De'zi didn't want him to leave!? Did her son not think she was good enough at parenting alone!?!? When she was calmer and not in the presence of Ceyx, she would realise that thought was foolish. De'zi was a son to her and nothing would change that. She did not realise he was trying to help.
And wouldn't for a while yet by the looks of it.
She stood, bared her teeth and looked him up and down. "With yoo and all males. 'Kay, so yoos migh' 'ave kept yer promise so far, but one of these days yer goin' tah slip up an' then De'zi will be upset an' ah'll be forced tah claw yer bloody eyes out!" She stomped a paw in the dirt and tried to step around him, tail thrashing.
"Only reason ah'm stickin' aroun' is fer the kid. Not yoos. If he didn' like yah so much, ah'd 'ave been long gone. Dun yoo forget tha'."

Ceyx was very surprised by the sound of the female, how could such a small thing be that ready to jump. He didn't know that, he stood up and backed up some not prepared for her to be so close. He backed up some and then looked at the male with an arched eye brow. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Ka." He cautioned her, he didn't want her hurt her and he wouldn't raise a paw he would make sure not to raise a paw to her. Never to any female. He didn't know what happened to her in the past on the other hand he probably wouldn't but at the same time he was hoping that she could learn to forgive.
"Okay, Okay." he nodded to her bowing his head in a way making sure that understood that he understood, he wanted to make sure that she knew that he was in charge not him. "I understand, Ka'ohu I understand." He sighed slightly and then nodded at him. "I won't forget it, I really do promise." He thought about it before speaking again, a chuckle escaped his throat. "A lot of us are good for nothings." He nodded before motioning toward her. "But De'zi isn't. You raised him well." He nodded to her, "Do you want me to go some where else? You seem upset and I don't blame you, I understand completely." He wasn't too sure what else to do, he didn't want to make her more angry. He really didn't.

She wrinkled her snout, moved a few steps away from him and sat with her back to him, refusing to look at him. An ear flicked to show that she was listening.
"Ah'm not upset." She snapped. "Ah'm angry." She angled her head so she could spy him momentarily from the corner of her eye, then turned her head back again, casting her gaze out across the barren landscape.
"Yoos not goin' tah go away 'til De'zi asks yoos to, are yoo?" She loved the boy, she loved him so much. She would do anything for him, but...when he needed other males around...she found it so testing. She was just waiting for Ceyx to make a mistake so she could jump on it and use it as an excuse to move on and leave him behind. "If ah ask yoo tah go away, yah'll jes be 'round the corner."

Ceyx's ears pressed against his head, he didn't like making her angry, he didn't like the idea of making anyone angry. He paused wiggling his toes before he spoke to the lioness. "I see."
He paused thinking looking down at his paws not sure he felt like a little cub himself like he was failing something, he was trying his hardest to make himself happy. Trying really hard to make her happy trying to to get her to change her look and he was starting to feel like he was failing at what he was doing.
"No..." He shook his head. "I won't until De'zi asks me... I'm sorry..." His voice trailed before looking at her again before speaking he knew that she didn't want to look at him but he couldn't do anything about it. "I can sleep outside if you want, if that makes you feel better." He motioned toward her trying to offer her something that could make her feel better.

"Do whatever yoos want!!" Ka snapped, her hackles up, fangs bared. Her head snapped around to look at him, eyes blazing. Her anger was not directed at him, not really. Her past was still there, mocking her, reminding her of her foolishness. She was so afraid of repeating it that she was intent on keeping everyone away from her.
Everyone except De'zi.
She was on her paws again, but she did not turn to move towards him. Instead, she lashed out at the ground, spewing a cloud of dust that billowed a wall between them. Then, growling furiously, she took a step back, glaring at him. "Stay 'ere if yoo want. Ah'm going." She didn't mean she'd be going for good. Just that she was going for the day. She'd be back - after all, she was not about to leave him with De'zi. She just needed a break from him. From everyone. So, with a low growl, she stalked off slowly across the ground, breaking into a run when she deemed herself further away.
And a single tear drew a shining path down her cheek.
