Would it help for an update of the rules? Or some form of Code of Conduct to be made concerning characters and how they should be played? Something that people will HAVE to read and agree to before making characters?
Or making it a rule that you have to state or list a characters weaknesses. That way the powers aren't the first thing that pop out to other people reading it? To make it fair, everyone would have to go back and edit their profiles if they don't have weaknesses listed.
This kind of thing has never really been a problem before, so being strict about how things were done was never an issue.
Though, we
have had problems in the past, it's never been about the character itself. Someone didn't play quite fairly or realistically, and other members just quit role playing because they were so fed up with it.
I don't want people to quit just because someone else wasn't being being very curtious with how they were playing.
Although we DO have uber powerful characters running around in the Role Play, they are handled fairly well. And really that's all that matters to me is that
characters are played fairly, and everyone has fun progressing the story.X, for example, is basically
the god-mode-able character right now. He's the one that made the world and sprinkled whoever he wanted to be here into the mix. Because of the Spectre coming for him, he made a deal and now has powers to rival the Spectre himself.
Doctor Strange isn't around to bother him, or the Spectre at the moment. He could do whatever he wanted with the world right now. But he's staying out of the picture.
I am only allowing him to mess with people who come to him first...or he has some reason to mess with a person of lesser power. If he does, it's for plot purposes only. Not just because he can.
Edel has the same power level of Doctor Strange himself. What makes her fair? She doesn't involve herself with anything unless there's something in it for her. Unless someone goes to her home and tries to ask her to do something...or someone messes with her directly...she's perfectly happy with just sitting on the couch listening to music.
There are even a few immortals running around right now that have a major weakness whether it be physical or mental.
Reaper's a bloody, immortal, powerful psychopath. Right now he's trying to be good and not kill anyone. For Doctor Strange so he can keep his powers, and for a possible love interest. This little factor is making him more human, which makes it easier for someone on the same level of power to kill him.
Blackstone has a list of powers at his disposal, immortal, and filthy stinking rich. Flaw....he's like Edel in that he doesn't care to get involved with anything or anyone. Unless there's something in it for him, or someone messes with him.
I don't care if there are powerful characters, as
long as they're played fairly. Keep in mind that this is a group effort to tell a story. Characters can be powerful, as long as they're interesting, and contribute in some way to whatever plot is going on.
And I'm sure I don't have to say this, but....if you have a problem with someone, don't argue with them and continue to toss insults back and forth. Or just quit without saying a thing. If there is a problem, PM me or a crew member that is active. We will try to get the situation resolved peacefully.
