Sitting cross-legged on her gold pile, Cyrilla stared at up at the ceiling, her face drawn into a look of thin lipped contemplation. The entire ordeal of the school trip was beyond her. She'd just met up with Aymet and Merope when they found themselves back home. She'd have thought it nothing more than a crazy dream, if only she either slept, or no one else had experienced it.

She wasn't sure what time it was, or how long she'd been staring at the ceiling, but she felt suddenly compelled to wander. Picking herself up from the comfort of the coin, the dragoness picked up the sleeping fafnir, Star, laid him around her neck, as she often did, and made her way out into the halls.

It was quiet, no one seemed to be up and about, it was clearly late. Running a clawed hand back through her hair, she moved along, passing doors, until she came to a familiar one. Rapping her knuckles over it she spoke.

"Merope? Are you up?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 04, 2011 4:59 am

Suddenly there came a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, rapping against Merope's door. It created an odd echoing boom inside Merope's room thanks to the pool that took up nearly half of it, the sound bouncing from wall to wall to tank. It wasn't a loud boom of any sort. A soft, rappa-tap-tat was the only thing that echoed in the leviathan's room.

The door to his room opened with a loud squeeeeak, allowing Cyrilla to enter. It wasn't Merope who opened the door, however -- it was one of his minipets, a Pirate Lionni. The small creature was still rubbing its eyes sleepily as it shut the door behind Cyrilla, waddling over to its bed to climb in and curl back up again.

From within the tank, the leviathan boil stirred in his true form as he shook himself out of the mind numbing "standby" mode that the undead often took when they had nothing better to do. The lost fathoms leviathan stretched his fins slowly, pushing off the sand-and-silver sea bed he had to swim to the side closest to Cyrilla.

"Evening, Cyr. What's up? There's a beanbag chair just to your right -- ah, here, second." The leviathan pushed away from the side of the tank and swam in a circle, the motions prompting his natural chemicals to react and produce a brighter blue glow. "There! Can you see it now?"

Cyrilla smiled and gave a quiet thanks to the little Lionni as it wandered back off to it's bed. Her eyes roved around the room, not much had changed... though it was a bit cleaner than the last time she'd been there. Then again, it wasn't half overrun with spare Soul Eater's from Aymet's dorm. She paused only briefly as Merope's form emerged from the water, it still amused her endlessly with how miniaturized he had become since entering school grounds. She guestimated he was roughly a 5th of his size, give or take.

Her head turned to look for the chair as the boil spoke, and she was grateful for the light he provided "Yeah that's great! Thanks." her step picked up as she skittered over and plopped herself into the chair, a soft thud echoing quickly through the cavernous room. She had to say, she was envious of Merope's standby mode. The dracolich herself had never got the hang of it, she was constantly thinking, looking around, fiddling with coins. She had a hard time just resting. Part of her figured it was something left over from when she was alive, but there was no way to be certain. Though she had an easy time, for the most part, relaxing in her hoard.

"Well, to answer your question, I'd like to say I can't sleep... but we all know that's not exactly anything new." she shot the leviathan a half-cocked grin, "I've just... I've been on edge ever since we got back from that 'school trip'. " her grin slid into a small frown.

"My brain feels like it's in a hundred different places at once. The whole thing with Viveca is not helping either." the drach grumped.

Course, that was a whole other kettle of fish to deal with. She'd already spoke to Aymet on the subject, she wasn't certain what, if anything, had transferred over to Merope.

Where he came from, sometimes there were times when there just wasn't anything to scavenge or do. That was when the leviathans of the lost fathoms simply waited, passing the time by doing nothing while waiting for the dead to sink in their waters, or for something interesting from the human world to drift by.

"Yeah, that trip was weird," Merope agreed quietly, resting his head on the edge of the tank. "Especially towards the end when Aymet rushed off, y'know? I haven't seen him lately either."

He paused, bioluminescent whiskers twitching. "Vive-whatsit? Is that a new minimet? Professor Malcom did give us tips on how to train them, though my Lionni who let you in over there hasn't been trained. He just does things himself. 's very useful when I'm in leviathan form like this."

From its bed, the minipet lifted an arm and performed a strange gesture with its claws before lowering it.

"And I have no idea what that means, but he likes to do that when he's unhappy."

"Aymet's just off being Aymet, yanno. Clueless as a deadbolt." Cyrilla's face contorted into a strange grimace before she shook it off, dragging herself off the beanbag chair and wandering over to sit at the edge of the pool. Clearly she was in a mood to wander and fidget, so it was unlikely the poor Lionni would get much sleep over the next little bit.

"That... is an odd gesture. I don't think I'm familiar with it myself." she shrugged, "Oh well." it was easy enough to ignore the little guy, though Star was rousing a bit and taking interest in the creature.

"Viveca." her voice dripped of disdain. "Some new demon transfer with enough attitude to fill the school. Bloody mouth on her too. After art class there the other day she forgot her hat, so, you know, I returned the stupid thing. Big mistake apparently, I should have left the jack damned thing there." the dracolich's tail had begun flitting back and forth, her agitation from the past situation showing clearly.

"That jacking ghoul called me road kill, thinking I couldn't hear her. It went downhill from there pretty fast... carrion, and so forth." she sighed.

"It... didn't end all too well. Let's just put it that way." her lips formed a puckered frown as she inwardly recalled her rush into the undead dorms, and the tears that had followed.

"Just cemented that you can't do jack all for a demon without paying for it somehow."

Merope snorted. Aymet being Aymet -- typical of the dracolich. At least Aymet's collection of soul eaters haven't invaded his room yet. Those pesky little things always had a knack for knowing when how and when to cause the most trouble for the two boils, be it from blocking the screen during an intense hexbox game to just being regular soul eaters.

He ignored his pirate lionni, settling down in his tank comfortably as Cyrilla explained. "Viveca? That's an odd name for a demon. Doesn't it sound like you have something stuck in your throat? Vi-vechk-ah. Ehhck."

If he was in his humanoid form, he'd have reached over and patted Cyrilla. In his natural form, his legs were far too stubby to do so. In lack of this, Merope moved his draconic head to Cyrilla's shoulders and said, "Pat, pat. There, there. At least you're not haunted by the memory of what demons can do. Trust me." He shuddered, the prickling sensation of horror creeping up at him again. While he couldn't recall Riley's exact written words at this point, just remembering that he had to was enough to creep him out -- and he was a freaking zombie, too.

"So what're you going to do about it? Let her get away with it? Stick something slimey in her hat next time she leaves it?"

Cyrilla couldn't help but laugh as Merope sounded out the Demon's name. It really did sound like there was something stuck in his throat. Maybe she would start calling the demon 'phlegm' in honour of the leviathan's act.

"Yeah... I'm not terribly interested in anything demon's can do, to be fair." she brought her arm to reach up over the top of the leviathan's head as it rested on her shoulder. She poked at one of his horns a bit before leaning her head against his.

"Well, I thought about punching her, but I don't think that'd go over very well with the faculty. I like the idea of leaving some slime in her hat. Maybe I can borrow one of Aymet's soul eaters and start a new infestation. I don't know. I'm not letting her get away with it, just not sure exactly how to go about it."

With his new perch, Merope wasn't able to bob his head in a slow agreement. Instead, he moved his whiskers forward and moved them up and down to simulate the movement. "You're telling me. Demons are all about wheelin' and dealin'. I'm owed a favor by one of them, but..." His whispers moved away, mimicking a shrug. "I've no idea what I'd use it for."

He considered their options. "Since it's a demon, that's going to be tricky. You know how demons like to surround themselves with others? I've yet to really see one not surrounded by their so-called underlings." He rolled his good eye, as it was impossible to tell what he was doing with his other.

"Hmm... I wouldn't use a soul eater. For all you know, it might like them. Maybe... Maybe we should try to gather more information about this Vheckah, and strike on from there?"

One of Merope's whisker's brushed against Cyrilla's face and she swatted at it with her free hand. "Hey, careful!" she chirped at the boil.

"Hmm, I've seen her in the halls a couple of times. She doesn't seem to hang around with too many others. I recognize one of them from class. Some demon named Sin. I've seen the other around but I'm not familiar wtih them. I don't think she hangs around with too man... wait. What? A demon owes you a favour?"

There was a short pause before she spoke again. "How in Jack's name did you manage to wrangle that one?" The bit about the Soul eater's was forgotten for the moment, replaced with the quickly growing curiosity as to how her friend cajoled a demon into giving him favour.

Not to mention.

How much trouble he got himself into along the way.

"No, you!" He laughed, bringing his whisker back to waggle in front of Cyrilla's face. Wiggle wiggle waggle.

His glowing whisker ends bobbed up and down in a nod as he considered. "I don't know Si- no, wait. I do." At least he knew of her outfits, and come to think of it didn't she try to argue against Professor Savage? Yes; he could remember that demoness now. "I've seen Sin around. And... I'm not going to get out of telling you this, am I?"

The lost fathoms leviathan sighed. "I'm sure you noticed that I added more silver to my bed, yeah? I'm short a treasure chest. See, this demoness' minipet ran off with some of her things, and it decided to run into my room since I had my door open. It was more than happy to be a pest to me, so I distracted it while she came to get it. She was having a hard time handling it, so I dumped out one of my treasure chests and offered it to her as a sort of kennel."

"Trust me, while I still have to replace that treasure chest? It was worth it. That demon's pet is worse than Aymet's soul eaters. Combined."

"Hey.. HEY!" the dracolich released the leviathan's head and flailed around a bit, before settling to poke Merope's nose.

"Nuppppe. No way getting out of this one mister. Sounds like story time to me." her grin looked as though it extended from earfin to earfin, a courtesy of the scars from the decapitation.

"Yeah I had noticed that actually... er.. here." she flipped a couple of coins in his direction. Ever since she'd raided his gold stash, she had begun slowly picking away at the silver. She wasn't sure where she'd picked those up, but at least she noticed before she left ... this time.

"I think I have a spare treasure chest in my room you can have. I was going to put a jewelry box and some other stuff in it, but it seems to have been claimed by a gerbil recently. I have to say though, man, I find it hard to believe that there's something more aggravating than those damn Soul Eaters. I mean, c'mon... they get into everything." she tilted her head at the boil.

Merope stared as pieces of his silver tumbled out of her hands and splashed back in his bed. He sighed. "I need to start hoarding something that isn't metal soon," he complained, "You're going to eat it all otherwise! Geeze. I might just dump it all into my bed for safekeeping. That way if I ever see you walking around wet and smelling of the sea, I'll know where you've been." It was probably an empty threat. Cyrilla did agree to let him have some of her silver in exchange for his gold. Somewhat. Did Cyrilla eat gems? Maybe he should start collecting those, or live up to the stereotypical sea monster jive and start collecting pearls.

"I'd like that, if you didn't mind," he said honestly. "But... Did you hear? A couple months ago, someone's minipet was running around causing havoc in the demon dorms. Did you hear about that one? That was the minipet who decided to keep me company." He shook his head. "Riley is the one who owns him. Y'know, purple? No mouth? Possibly seen being chased by cannon cats through the school at one point specifically after I made her an outfit that was modeled after said cannon cat minipets?"

It would be an unfortunate experiment for the lost fathom's leviathan regardless of what he would switch his horde to. Although gold was clearly the dracolich's favoured treasure, she wasn't exactly known for letting any shiny, small, fit-in-your-palm/pocket objects to just sit idly by. Gold made her feel comfortable and relaxed, while the rest of the things she... collected... were just amusing bobbles.

Cyrilla tapped her chin in thought as she tried to recollect the events and the demon that Merope was speaking about. "I think I saw Riley back in Christmas town... yeah." she shrugged, "I vaguely remember the minipet thing but I don't think it really caught my attention. Sounds like it was good for a laugh though." she grinned.

"And yeah, next time you are over in my room I'll get the box for you."
PostPosted: Wed Apr 13, 2011 12:03 am

Silver, gems, pearls -- it seemed that there would be nothing safe from the dracolich's gaze. There was always the back-up idea of collecting spare body parts, though. Merope's natural ability enabled his Fear to adapt any foreign body part to match his own body. Having a good-sized stock on hand would enable him to switch in and out arms and limbs whenever he pleased, though there was the huge drawback of his room reeking of both salt and rotting flesh...

"Either way," Merope began, "It means we have a favor we can call in, just in case. Do you have any idea on how you'd like to get back at this... this demon? I'll admit, I'm a bit stumped on ideas. Though..." He swished his tail, his eyes glowing dim as he thought. "Maybe... Maybe we should get more information about her first, and figure out how to best strike at her then?"

The bonus to being undead however, would be that neither Cyrilla, Merope or their mutual friend Aymet would have to breath in the smell of the wretched and rotting flesh. Not only making it a viable option, but likely an effective method of keeping people out of his room. Like smelly security!

Though there was a good chance his pets may not be so welcoming of the idea. Either way she was unaware of his thoughts, and tilted her head pondering his query.

"That's true I suppose. Though I don't know how much I'd enjoy taking a favour from any demon. They could be friends for all we know so that would make it difficult to use no matter how you look at it." the dracolich shrugged and stretched her arms up towards the ceiling.

"S'a good idea, not sure how to go about getting info from her . I share an Arts n Crafts class with her, but I don't think I've seen her in anything else. I guess I could just keep an eye out on what she does if I see her going through the halls... You know this'd be easier if I could just freeze her." she huffed, referring to her coldfire breath.

"Something tells me the professor's wouldn't think so kindly on that."
