 It had occurred to Isuke'Boon recently that she'd been spending the majority of her time in the company of males. This hadn't really struck her as odd until now due to a recent bit of a disagreement about males and females. Isuke'Boon had been accused of finding her own gender weak, and while she thought this wasn't true, she couldn't deny the pattern of spending most of her time among males.
As far as she knew though it was that she felt she had more in common with them. She'd been raised in a family of mostly males, and to be a warrior. She'd been told that most males would be expecting females to be weak and that she'd likely have to work hard to prove herself as a good warrior because of it. Honestly she wouldn't know what to say to a female if they had a conversation. Though she had decided that because this was the case it was all the more important it was a skill she worked on. So now she was searching around, looking for one that she could strike up a friendly conversation with.

With her adoptive daughter tucked safely away inside of their den, Tuuli ventured out for a little big of alone time. She had never been much of a socialite, prefering her own company to that of either gender. Even today she couldn't bring herself to speak with the random strangers she happened to pass. Why bother? The males would only want one thing, and the females...Gods above, the gossip.
Solidarity was in her blood. Tuuli was raised as an only cub by her father, and even after his death, she kept up the tradition with her 'daughter' Elpsi, precious little dear that she was.
Tuuli flipped her cool, crisp eyes down to the watering hole that was calling her name. Her petite body, though adolescent in size, was a powerhouse of muscles, and allowed her to make it over to the clear water in no time at all for what was sure to be a very rewarding refreshment.

Before long Isuke'Boon happened upon a watering hole that she was unfamiliar with. After adding it to her mental map of watering holes she took notice of the female currently drinking from it. Her markings were unlike markings Isuke'Boon had ever seen before, both in color and in shape. Even from the distance of where she was standing she could see that this other female, though small, was strong. That was something she approved off right off the bat.
She made her own way over, closing the distance quickly with her large gait. Her legs were longer and in fact her whole body was larger then that of the average female. Standing a respectful distance away Isuke'Boon stood at the edge of the water. She started to open her mouth to say something, but realized she wasn't exactly sure how to start small talk. It was usually others who were doing it. Usually when she started a conversation she had something very particular she wanted to say. "Greetings." It was all she could think of, and she quickly dipped her head down to have her own drink of water.

Tuuli curiously lifted her eyes up...and up...and up. The stark contrast between sizes was enough to give her pause, and yet, she wasn't afraid in the least of the warmly colored lioness. In fact, she was more curious than anything. Why was she speaking to her? Did she trespass some unknown boundary? "Well met, sister." Tuuli lifted her head high, keeping her stance aware, and yet, relaxed, just in case. "Forgive me if I've trespassed into your territory."
The way she had her head held gave her the best possible view of the other lioness. Large and powerful, she was unlike most of her gender that she had seen thus far. How odd. She must have been a fierce warrior, indeed.

So far things were going pleasantly. The other female was polite so far, and seemed alert and intelligent. Though the comment about it being her territory made Isuke'Boon chuckle just a little. Maybe one day she'd have her bit of land to protect, but for now her spirit still called for her to explore and experience the world. See more places, have more fights, and become better in any way that she could.
"No, you have not trespassed. At least not that I know of. If this is someone's territory it is not mine. I'm just a wanderer stopping for a drink is all." She settled back into a relaxed but aware position herself, peering at the other lioness. "I am Isuke'Boon." She offered her name since it seemed like the right things to do if she wanted to keep the conversation going.

Tuuli's smile was much more relieved, now that she wasn't in danger of being run out. She had planned on keeping Elpsi here for a little while longer, maybe even start a family of her own if the Gods were willing. Now all she had to do was find a man worthy enough to give her strong cubs, but...this was neither the time, nor the place for that tangent.
"Then you are the same as I. How nice to have company." She sat back on her haunches, wrapping her tail around her legs. "I'm Myrsky'tuuli, but feel free to call me Tuuli. My full name was given to me by my father, and I don't care for it."

Isuke'Boon also gave Tuuli a smile and began settling in to be more comfortable since the other lioness was relaxed too. She mirrored Tuuli's position, even settling her tail in a wrapped position around her legs.
"It is nice to find company sometimes," Isuke'boon agreed, nodding her head. "Tuuli it is. I've always gone by Isuke'Boon. You can shorten it if it's easier I suppose..." Truthfully she'd never given it much thought. It was longer then what most others went by, but she'd always liked her name. "Though I like my full name just fine." She tilted her head to the side slightly as she pondered what else she should say. It was pretty common for others to strike up conversations with her. For some reason they seemed to think she wanted to hear about everything and anything. She turned over those conversations quickly in her mind trying to think of what else they usually asked her.
"So you're just wandering like me. Is it just you or do you have a family as well?" That question sounded like a good one.

Myrsky'tuuli waved it off, shaking her head to the side so that her mane tuft could fall somewhere other than in her eyes. "You're name is your own, and I shall call you what you wish to be known as." She stated simply. After all, why torture someone for a long, ugly name or a short, ugly nickname? If one was approrpriate, it should be used.
"I was alone." Tuuli shifted on her legs, finding a more comfortable way to lean. "Then I became a mother; not my own, of course, but a little cub I've adopted named Elpsi. She's my first." That statement alone outlined her fears and unpleasantries. While she cared for Elpsi, how was she supposed to raise a cub? "She's a young lion cub who could pass for my own, I suppose. I've been trying to train her, but she just..." Tuuli sighed. "She's more dead set on flitting about than actually working."

Isuke'Boon unconsciously tilted her head the other way as Tuuli spoke. She found herself interested in what she was saying. She'd never really considered adopting cubs as an option, though it was an interesting thought. Maybe if she ever came across any that were alone and motherless. Though she didn't consider herself soft hearted, she did't like the idea of a cub being left alone to die.
"Oh I see. Being a mother is challenging I'm sure. I don't know if I know how to raise cubs. The thought is even a bit frightening, but all the same, I do hope for some. As for Elpsi, maybe she'll grow more interested as she grows older. I remember my sister was the same way, and eventually she focused on her training. What are you training her to do?" She wondered if Tuuli was training her to be a warrior. The smaller lioness certainly looked like she could hold her own.

"I hope so." Myrsky'tuuli's ears relaxed back on her head. Motherhood took more out of her some days then she would have ever thought possible, but come nightfall, she was always happy for the company. "I wasn't planning on training her for any one thing specifically; just a well rounded experience to give her the skill set necessary for survival." She chuckled. "If she stays as she is now, the only thing she'll be able to fight off is butterflies."
She pondered over a thought, tilting her head back curiously. "And you? You said you hope for cubs; is that by yourself or with a mate?"

As Tuuli spoke, Isuke'Boon gave an understanding nod and then a chuckle at the butterflies bit. "Yes hopefully she'll progress past fighting butterflies. I think a well rounded skill set is wise, at least until she figures out what really interests her. As for me and my hope for cubs...well that would be just by myself." Her tail gave a relaxed swish as she spoke. "I did recently encounter a rogue male that seemed worthy. My hope is that he will be the father, though I have a little waiting to see."
She of course left out the part about having to convince him to mate with her. To the point of chasing him down and catching him. Though at that point he'd been more then willing. A slightly amused look entered her eyes as she revisited those events.

Myrsky'tuuli couldn't help noticing the little spark in her eye after talking about the male. He must have been one helluva male, to impress a female such as this. Or maybe she was pining over him? Best not to seek him out, just in case, then. "Best wishes for you, sister. Cubs, while a huge pain in the neck, are a joy to have, and I will hold out hope that you get what you wish for."
And she meant it. Now all that Tuuli had to do was find a male, and she may very well be in the same boat as Isuke'Boon. "In the mean time...how about a walk? I'm afraid I can't sit still for long."

Tuuli's words brought a smile to Isuke'Boon's face. "Thank you, and the same to you as well. I hope your young one grows up strong in some way or another." She had little doubt that she would. It seemed to be the way of females, in her opinion anyway. It was rare that Isuke'Boon met a female that should found to be totally weak in every area.
Nodding her head Isuke'Boon stood. "I think a walk would be good. I like to keep active too." And with that she headed off with her new found friend. She found herself wondering why she didn't seek out the company of more females before this. Well, it was a lesson learned in her mind anyway. At the very least she hoped that her and Tuuli would talk again more in the future.

Gods willing, she would, Myrsky'tuuli thought. Eventually her daughter would be an adult, and she wanted her to resemble everything that a good female should.
Maybe somewhere along the line she would be able to meet up with Isuke'Boon again, and they could show each other the cubs they had fantasized about this glorious day. She snorted. And watch them fight each other. But then, who knew? Maybe they would get along as well as their mothers had before them.
