The fog seemed thicker than ever this morning around the Lighthouse, enough to obscure teams from even locating each other. The blinding white blocked out almost all vision, around them, behind, even the path below them.

One by one, team members stumbled blindly, perhaps in circles, perhaps towards the dangerously close cliff edge, trying to locate everyone else.

That is, until they heard an unmistakable sound. It sounded like a thousand flies buzzing in their ears, the tearing of vicious claws ripping into carryon, and then the rush of something sharp, painful. It was unmistakably loud.

Those that walked directly towards the sound would find a large clearing in the fog, and in the epicenter of the clearing.

Was that... a horse? No, the only thing even equine-like about it was its shape. First of all, horses did not spout flames and hellfire as far as squad members' faulty logic went. Secondly, horses did not stand towering almost twenty feet tall.

The miasma around the creature was nearly unbearable, where it stepped, the ground rotted away in black clumps of decay and black smoke.

And it was staring right at the squad members, rearing up with a terrible death whinny, as if challenging them. Wait - was that a pendant coiled in its mane? It seemed like it would not be an easy fight at all to get it.

((Theta Seven is entering the area and ATTACKING PONY BOSS))

Theta Seven wandered out of the tent to check something that he thought he'd heard and even wandered a few steps away where he was then swallowed up and then lost in the fog for a moment until he realized that his phone had gone off. He gave it a quick check as he walked and felt confusion - he could barely read it and he was certain if it wasn't for the light he wouldn't be able to read it at all. Good thing the fog suddenly cleared up and -- wait.

He snapped his head up at the creature and his eyes widened behind his mask as out of shock and fear he reached into his bag and got out the hand-club-mace-thing (TM) and swung it at the creature out of surprise. Just briefly he made out the pendant twined in the mane - perhaps that is what the text was babbling about? Can't worry about that now... DEATH PONY.

((DELTA ELEVEN HAS ENTERED AND IS ATTACKING THAT BOSS.))

For a moment Eleven found herself with nothing to do but flail as the fog wrapped around her, pulling her away from her little scouting group. Bad Eleven! Bad! You weren't supposed to go off alone! Now look what you'd done!

Then she heard a most beautiful sound and all her worries fled. Buzzing flies, tearing claws, a sharp painful clarity. It was enough to bring a tear to her eyes.

So beautiful.

Following the sound to it's source in a daze she finally found a clearing in the fog and it. She couldn't remember much but she was sure she'd never seen such a magnificent creature before.

She just wanted to reach out and stroke it, hug it, who cared about the miasma of decay around it, just one touc-

WAS THAT A PENDANT!?!

Oh who cared how wonderful it was that thing was going to die and she was going to get that pendant, and she dared any of the others coming out of the fog to take it from her.

Giving a challenging yell she charged forward fist raised and ready to deck a pony when something unforeseen stopped her.

A rock.

One small misstep and Eleven went down flailing, charged ended rather embarrassingly. Ouch. Maybe she'd let the others weaken it before going in for the prize.

THETA TWO ENTERING AREA AND ATTACKING PONY BOSS.

Passages of white, walls of white. Everything was made of white.

It was going to drive her insane.

Theta-two stumbled blindly through the fog, heart erratic and in her throat, but at least that meant she was still alive. Her self phone flashed, a blue gleam in the veil of fog, flickering only briefly as she read the newest message that she'd failed to pay attention to. The screen reflected bits and pieces of a gas mask, and her brain was strangely blocked from recalling the color of her hair, or the tone of her skin. It was strange, drawing the conclusion that she was just another gas mask trouper on an island that could very well have been filled with thousands of other gas mask troupers.

Step to the left, right, left, down, up. Thinking about how lost she was just made her dizzy, and soon enough, she stopped taking count of which way she stepped, and how many times she tripped over her feet in the process of it all.

And then it was there; an ear piercing sound of flies and and claws and pain. Her feet broke into a run; but she wasn't sure if she was trying to run towards it, or away.

It didn't matter though, because in a matter of moments, the fog broke, drawing her through its white walls --- was that a horse?! Her mouth opened into a wordless yell, some sort of mangled "holy s**t!" Because really, when one saw a horse the size of small house, it should have been only natural to experience a fair bit of shock, right? Right...? Out of the corner of her eye, she managed to find Theta Seven - that b*****d, she thought teasingly, - and a myriad of other people she didn't even know. But they were all gas mask clones so how bad could they be, really? Not as bad as that horse thing! She would have been content to just sit there and wallow in what she thought might have been the craziness of giant, flaming horses and gas mask boyo's, but when she couldn't remember a thing about herself at all, she couldn't rightly say that this was an actual brand of crazy. So instead, she did the stupidest thing she could think of. She drew the wooden stake sticking out like Excalibur from her knapsack and rushed right in.

Rash, She thought again, the putrid appearance of the creature hitting her square on as she took a swing. She didn't even see the pendant until she was trying to get back to the edge of the clearing in the fog. Oh. Well, that might be useful. Yeah. Me in a nutshell.

Her mouth opened into a laugh. An actual laugh, perhaps bred from the situation and the way this felt absolutely ridiculous. This was real. If she got one hit k.oed, she was just dead. That was it.

Well, at least if she got killed, she could say she went down fighting.

[[ Delta Seven enters the area and is ATTACKING THE BOSS. ]]

Delta Seven had wandered into a thick patch of fog while searching the base of the lighthouse. Suddenly unable to see so much as his own hand in front of him, he stumbled blindly and eventually emerged in a different location.

"What the - !?" he said, stunned to see a giant, fire-breathing horse. It was over twice as tall as any of the people facing it down. "How is that real?" he demanded. Even without his memories, something was telling D7 that there was no way such a monster existed. Clearly, that voice was wrong because the beast was right there. Heat from the flames warmed him, driving away the damp chill of the cliff air. D7 would happily put up with fog and cloudy grey weather in exchange for NOT having a fire-breathing monster about, though.

Taking a cue from the others, he drew his weapon. Rolling his eyes, he swore loudly. Stupid, tiny stake. Why couldn't he have a gun? Or something that didn't involve getting right next to his target and forcing thin wood through it?

Realising that he'd end up talking himself out of this if he waited much longer, D7 charged the beast and drove the stake at a hind leg.

[Delta Four enters, attacking boss!]

Delta Four waved her hand in front of her face -- well, her mask really -- trying to dissipate the fog. Of course, it didn't work, but she had hoped holy hell what the flying frick was that flaming thing.

Taking a step back to stare at the creature, Delta Four grimaced and took in the entire scene.

It was a giant flaming pony. Something that did not exist, yet clearly did in front of her eyes. Surprisingly, she wasn't that perturbed by it, but it did make her a little uneasy. Especially the fire. The fire was not a good thing, and she wanted to stay away from it as far as possible.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, whichever it was... in its mane was a pendant. Well, what the heck was that doing there? Her cell phone chose at that time to go off, and she sighed and grabbed it to pull it up, looking at the message.

Only five pendants.

Well then.

Slinging her backpack out and reaching in to grab her dagger, she slung her backpack back onto her back and joined into the fray, dagger plunging towards the large creature.

This thing needed to go away, and fast.

[ Theta four ENTER thread, ATTACK ??? BOSS ]

Holy ******** s**t! WHAT WAS THAT THING?!

Theta four had been searching through the fog, cautiously (or was it recklessly) following that horrible sound. No sooner had he stepped into the thinning fog that he found the source, any relief at being able to see again instantly lost to the horror and WTF of what he was looking at.

HORSES DID NOT LOOK LIKE THAT WHERE HE CAME FROM! Was that thing even a horse? It looked -kind- of like one, but then not really, was it spitting fire?! Okay, so that part was awesome, anything that likes fire can't be all bad right?

Wait, what was that? A glint of light had caught his attention, something caught in the creature's mane. Was that...one of the pendants the text message had spoken of? A smirk.

Nunchucks in hand, Theta four charged the beast, swinging his weapon in a wide arc. Grim satisfaction as he felt the weapon strike its target, not so satisfied as said weapon struck him as well. ********! Clearly these things were going to take some time to get used to. WHY COULDN'T THEY HAVE JUST GIVEN HIM A DAMNED FLAME THROWER?!

[ Delta One enters area, ATTACKING THE BOSS ]

It wasn't long since deciding to follow the others that Delta One found herself lost in the densely thick fog. She could make out the occasional sound, like the scuffling of feet or the clearing of ones throat. Other then that....she almost felt like she had been stuffed in a sensory deprivation tank!
A sound...a beeping sound... OH! The cell phone! She hoped that whatever it was, it was better news then the last message she had recieved. She stopped, grabbing at her belt for the small device and bringing it as close to her face as she could manage, while clumsily pushing the button to view what was indeed a new message. The glowing screen helped slightly, but not by much. She squinted from behind her mask slowly making out the words, then re-reading them.
A pendant? What the fu---
Suddenly, noise, that didn't sound far from where she stood. Cocking her head to listen, she heard terrifying sounds, sounds to make you wake up screaming. But instead of being terrified, she was just angry!
She started off with purpose in that direction, and not long afterwards, found herself suddenly blinking, out of the fog and into the flaming pony death trap (or the frying pan, whatever). Hmmm, a frying pan...that might do her some good here. Better then the nun-chucks she had stored in her back pack, anyways!
She eyed up the creature in front of her, chest heaving beneath her suit as she watched others attack...some of which she recognised from their suit colors, and others she did not. Suddnly she noticed something, Was that...a pendant? The words from the message on her cell phone flashed in her mind. If they could defeat this creature, somebody was likely going to try and get that pendant...and then? Mass pandemonium was going to ensue. But that was a matter for after the fight. Flaming pony of death had to fall first.
Quick decision time here, attack, or run?
Attack!
Nun-chucks or fists?
Fists!
Now...where to strike? She tried to time her attack carefully. Didn't want to be set on fire by the monstrosity that was shooting flames around the 'clearing'. Waiting until at least it's head was turned away from her, she darted in, ready to attempt to punch this thing in the side of the ribcage.
Her fist connected with the abominations body, the flesh beneath her knuckles reverbrating from the impact. She let her anger fuel her, to keep her from instead letting terror take over.
It wasn't until after she attacked that she realised now how very uncomfortably close to the creature she was...

[[ Delta Nine enters, attacking the BOSS. ]]

A lot happened all at once. No, seriously, a lot.

As she left the tent to follow Delta Three, the fog instantly swallowed her. She was blind to everything around her. Terror rose in her throat, bitter and thick and unforgiving. She was choking on it. Delta Nine wasn't sure what to do, where to go -- there was nothing but tangibly thick fog and then nothing.

Until she heard the sound. The noise made Nine shriek softly, jumping where she stood. Oh, wait. That was just her cell phone.

She fumbled with the buttons before finally accessing her text, snorting softly when she read about the pendant. Great. Her survival was resting on a stupid necklace? Delta Nine shook her head and tucked her cellphone away before squaring her shoulders and blindly moving forward.

Then she heard... the most unearthly, unholy sound she'd ever heard in her life. You know how you hear a weird sound and just have to figure out what it is and where it's coming from? That's exactly how Delta Nine reacted. Shuffling steps propelled her forward until the fog dissipated.

The first thing she noticed was that she wasn't the only one here. She could recognize her own colors, green, on a few people, but there were also others she didn't recognize.

The second thing she noticed was the big angry demon horse that everyone was surrounding. It was disgustingly huge, spitting fire... Delta Nine wondered if this was what death looked like.

The third thing she noticed was the pendant in that very big angry demon horse's hair. Delta Nine wanted that pendant. She wanted it bad.

She dropped her pack to the ground and reached for her gun. Gripping the weapon with both hands, she closed her eyes and blindly fired.

[Theta Three Entering and Attacking Boss]

No way...NO WAY! NO ******** WAY! What the hell was that thing?! She stared up at it in shock and then hastily backpedaled. Then she noticed more people, more then just the original thirteen from her tent. Oh great would she have to defend herself from everyone on all sides and defeat this monstrosity? Maybe this was all some bizarre dream or hallucination? If it wasn't though she sure as hell didn't want to die.

The thing...whatever it was, had a pendant in it's...hair..mane...it had one. She wanted one, she needed one to survive so it was obvious what had to happen. She felt her grip tighten on her mace before she rushed forwards to swing.

The mace seemed to connect she felt a dull thudding sensation jolt up into her arms and realized she probably hadn't ever done this before. Her muscles just didn't seem used to the motion. She tried to get back then as quickly as she could because the thing was pretty dangerous looking. She kept looking around her as well not unaware of danger from others as well.

((Theta 13 enters the boss fight!))

Stumbling through the fog proved to be more then a challenge for Thirteen. It almost seemed like he was walking in circles rather then heading north and truth be told he probably did do a few loops around the same area. It was very frustrating and it didn't help his phone started going off mid walk. Pausing in the fog he took the time to debate the information, five pendants that ensured survival? So something to work towards, but wouldn't having a pendant make him a target? Continuing onward he glanced back wondering if Five had tagged along.

It was during that moment of glancing he made the mistake stumbled into a clearing where a rather strange horse was rearing up. For a moment he simply stared slack-jawed inside his helmet. He eyed the pendant curiously in its mane for a moment before stumbling back as it let out another blast of fire.

"Holy Hell it's a demon come to life or I'm breathing some goooood s**t in this mask..." Glancing around he spotted a few other Theta colored folks, and some others who didn't share his color at all. Frowning he unclipped his mace and wondered what he should do next. For now it was probably best to work in a team and worry about the pendant later. So with that in mind he edged in with his mace leading cursing himself the whole way. "C'mon lil closer, avoid the crushing hooves and flaming breath..."

The horse stepped close and Thirteen let out a yelp swinging wide, spinning carried by the momentum of his attack throwing him hard on the ground; even with his armor the impact was rough and he was sure he nearly popped his shoulder as he stumbled back up.

"s**t s**t s**t s**t why couldn't I have gotten a gun like that noisy girl!" Granted he had no idea how to USE a gun, it sure as hell seemed a lot safer then this!

((Theta-Five has entered the battle!))

"Thirteen." Theta-Five hissed, looking about as best he could through his mask in the blinding fog. All the heavy armor and not any fog or nighttime vision. What a worthless burden! It didn't help to hiss out anyone's name either, as that was exactly what he was doing as he tried to follow his Instantly-made comrade into the fog and completely lost him.

"See. SEE. This is what happens when we don't follow some order. We should have went in a straight line. All of us. Then we wouldn't have to get lost and be picked off one by one like stray zebra. Doesn't anyone watch National Geographic?!!"

Gloved hands twisting into each other, Theta-Five continued onward until a rather strange noise caught his attention. It wasn't any swearing or bloodcurning scream as the other members had said they might scream if in trouble, but something bizzare. Well, what he assumed was strange as he didn't know what was normal around these parts.

Worried, he called out again. "Thirteen....is that you?" Yeah, that didn't sound like a horror-flick right there at all!

Just as he moved closer to the sound, which might have been stupid considering all things, he noticed the fog clear a moment to show something really messed up. It was, as best as he could describe, a horse. A very smelly, monstrous, gigantic, messed-up horse abomination that was VERY pissed off.

If it wasn't for the fact everyone else seemed to have gathered here, whcih would give him another chance of organizing them, he would have turned and ran. Instead, he noticed everyone use their recently recived weapons and attack. So, kill or be killed.

Reaching back and pulling out his stake, he looked at it. "Maybe I was a hitman in the past?" Even saying it sounded completely untrue to him, but maybe he was really good at killing. He'd at least know his abilities if he tried, and now was better than later.

Rising his stake and feeling more and more like a Buffy impersonator, Theta-Five went for an attack.

[Delta 6 enters, is attacking the boss]

"Delta Seven? Delta Four?" D6 found herself utterly lost in the fog, which had thickened even further, and suddenly she began to hear a buzzing in her ears. She walked further, uncertain where she was going and almost sure that the buzzing was getting louder.

The phone at her belt went off, and she lowered her head to read the new text message. The light of the screen was weak through the fog, which was now more of a solid object than anything else...
Something about a pendant. D6 felt like it would be hopeless to even look for the pendant in this fog-- they couldn't even find the entrance to a giant lighthouse.
She looked up from the phone, and her stomach turned. A flaming horse., rotting the very ground it stood on, and they were supposed to attack it? She could see other armored figures standing around the monster, making feeble attempts to kill it with whatever weapons it had. And as the horse reared, she could see a pendant in its mane... better to stay and try; running away would lead to death regardless.

She ran forward with her dagger in hand, and plunged it into the side of the beast before it threw her off with a violent buck, and she backed away from it quickly.

(( Delta Ten, entering and attacking ??? Boss. ))

Delta Ten hadn't really meant to wander off from his group, not because he cared so much about them individually, but for survival's sake. But the fog had made that decision for him. And after a bit of hopeless wandering, the fog had seemingly decided to clear too. The sight he came upon was an interesting one; there was some mutant, flaming horse thing, which he thought looked hilarious by the way. Whoever was "testing" them had way too much time on their hands if they were making such strange creatures. Because he had no doubt the thing was real, just as he had no doubt that this test was really a threat of death.

More importantly, the thing had a pendant. And he wanted it, damn it. Sure, it might be dangerous to attack it, but there were other squad members and teams around, fighting it too. It wasn't so much about beating the beast himself, but of helping to beat it and then snatching the pendant out from under their noses.

He recognized some of his squad as he rushed forward with his knife, slashing out at the monster. He felt the angle was wrong, so he didn't get the impression he'd done much damage if he'd hit. Oh well, it was better than nothing. Again, it wasn't about being the strongest at this point, not really.

He saw Delta Eleven, who had fallen instead of managing an attack. He said candidly as he took a few steps back from the beast, more in her direction, "Well, so glad you ran off, hu?" His tone was actually rather light. His focus, demonstrated by the direction of his gaze that no one else could see, was on the monster.

[[Delta two, entering to attack my little death pony BOSS.]]

ZZZZZZZZZZ
ZZZZZZZZZZ
ZZZZZZZZZZ

The noise…how to explain it? Annoying, bothersome, needing to die?
Well truthfully maybe it was already dead…mass amounts of larva and flies surrounding it. D2, wasn’t sure what it was but seeing earlier this text message of a ‘pendant’ it seemed like a good idea to search for it and what keeps fancy treasures? Beast to, terrible, insidious beasts.

Band-aids weren’t going to help him here…He made sure they were kept safe as he went in for a melee attack. Hopefully his hands wouldn’t crumble to black ashy death for touching this beast. His attack wasn't much, but it landed, and seeing as a bunch of others were doing the same thing....eventually this beast would go down. But thinking about it who would get that pendant?
