Pokemon Abilities

Below is a list of Pokemon Abilities. Put in alphabetical order, each entree contains the ability name, what is does in the guild, and which pokemon can have it.

Pokemon Abilities are unlocked when a Trainer travels to an area directly outside of the Academy's control. Which ability your pokemon has will be decided by the Mod in charge of you.

A.


Adaptability -

Description - Powers up moves of the same type.

Guild Mechanics - Damage increased by by 1.5 when using a move of the same type as the user.

Pokemon - Eevee, Porygon Z. Corphish, Crawdaunt, Feebas, Basculin.

Aerilate -

Description - Causes all Normal-type moves used by the Pokémon to become Flying-type and receive a 30% boost.

Guild Mechanics - Normal-Type moves become Flying-Type with +2 Damage.

Pokemon - Mega Pinsir

Aftermath -

Description - Damages the foe landing the finishing hit.

Guild Mechanics - The attacker takes 1/10 the damage of the final blow.

Pokemon - Voltorb, Electrode, Driftloon, Driftblim, Stunky, Skuntank, Trubbish, Garbodor.

Air Lock -

Description - Eliminates the effects of weather.

Guild Mechanics - Cancels out the effects of Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Sandstorm, and Hail. This includes all "Abilities" which cause these effects.

Pokemon - Rayquaza

Anger Point -

Description - Raises Attack upon taking a critical hit.

Guild Mechanics - +1 to this pokemon's offensive rolls whenever it takes a Critical Hit.

Pokemon - Mankey, Primeape, Tauros. Camerupt, Sandile, Krokorok, Krookodile.

Analytic -

Description - Hidden Ability. If the user moves after the target, the power of the users next move is increased by 30%

Guild Mechanics - Does an additional 1/4 DMG when this pokemon's SPD is lower then the opponents.

Pokemon - Magnemite, Magneton, Magnezone, Staryu, Starmie, Porygon, Porygon 2, Porygon Z, Patrat, Watchog, Elgyem, Beheeyem

Anticipation -

Description - Senses the foe’s dangerous moves.

Guild Mechanics - Causes the pokemon to shudder when an opponent has a Super-Effective, +3 to Defense Rolls when the opponent is using a move which is Super-Effective against a Pokemon with this ability.

Pokemon - Wormadam, Barboach, Whiscash, Croagunk, Toxicroak, Eevee.

Arena Trap -

Description - Prevents the foe from fleeing.

Guild Mechanics - Cannot run away from battle with this pokemon. You must either defeat it, lose completely, or be holding a "Smoke Ball".

Pokemon - Diglett, Dugtrio, Trapinch.

Aroma Veil-

Description - Aroma Veil protects the Pokémon with this ability and its allies from the effects of Taunt, Attract and Torment.

Guild Mechanics - Immune to Taunt, Attract, and Torment.

Pokemon - Spritzee, Aromatisse

Aura Break -

Description - Aura Break reverses the effects of Fairy Aura and Dark Aura.

Guild Mechanics - Aura Break reverses the effects of Fairy Aura and Dark Aura.

Bad Dreams -

Description - Reduces a sleeping foe’s HP.

Guild Mechanics - Lowers Hp by one level for every turn that an opponent is asleep.

Pokemon - Darkrai

Battle Armor -

Description - The Pokémon is protected against critical hits.

Guild Mechanics - Cannot score a Critical Hit on this pokemon. (Cancels out the effect of any and all Critical Hits. Including the effects of Super Luck.)

Pokemon - Anorith, Armaldo, Kabuto, Kabutops, Skorupi, Drapion, Cubone, Marowak.

Blaze -

Description - Powers up Fire-type moves in a pinch.

Guild Mechanics - When Hp is below 1/3rd, Fire type moves increases damage by 1.5.

Pokemon - Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Cyndaquil, Quilava, Typhlosion, Torchic, Combuskin, Blaziken, Chimchar, Monferno, Infernape, Tepig, Pignite, Emboar, Pansear, Simisear.

Big Pecks -

Description - Prevents this pokemon's defense from being lowered.

Guild Mechanics - Prevents this pokemon's DEF stat from being lowered.

Pokemon - Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Chatot, Pidove, Tranquill, Unfezant, Ducklett, Swanna, Vullaby, Mandibuzz.

Bulletproof -

Description - Pokémon with Bulletproof are immune to ball and bomb moves, as well as some cannon-based attacks.

Guild Mechanics - This Pokemon cannot be damaged by the following moves:

Acid Spray, Aura Sphere, Barrage, Bullet Seed, Egg Bomb, Electro Ball, Energy Ball, Focus Blast, Gyro Ball, Ice Ball, Magnet Bomb, Mist Ball, Mud Bomb, Octazooka, Rock Wrecker, Seed Bomb, Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, Weather Ball, Zap Cannon.

Pokemon - Chespin, Quilladin, Chesnaught.

Berserk -

Description - Every time the HP of a Pokémon with Berserk drops below half, its Special Attack is raised by one stage. If the HP falls below half due to indirect damage, such as one caused by Leech Seed, status conditions or weather, Berserk won't activate.

Guild Mechanics - When this Pokemon's HP drops below half their SP-ATK will raise by one level.


Pokemon - Drampa

Battery -

Description - This Ability raises the power of allies' special moves by 30%.

Guild Mechanics - This Ability raises the power of allies' special moves by 1.3x the Damage.

Chlorophyll -

Description - Boosts the Pokémon’s Speed in sunshine.

Guild Mechanics - Pokemon's speed increases by One Level during the effects of Sunny Day or Drought.

Pokemon - Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Exeggcute, Exeggutor, Cherubi, Tangela, Hopip, Skiploom, Jumpluff, Sunkern, Sunflora, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry, Tropius, Tangrowth, Bulbasaur, Venusaur, Ivysaur, Leafeon, Sewaddle, Swadloon, Leavanny, Cottonee, Whimsicott, Petillil, Lilligant, Maractus, Deerling, Sawsbuck.

Clear Body -

Description - Prevents the Pokémon’s stats from being lowered.

Guild Mechanics - This pokemon's stats cannot be lowered by moves or items. (This excludes Fumbles caused by rolling a 1, and the negative effects of Burn.)

Pokemon - Beldum, Metang, Metagross, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Tentacool, Tentacruel, Klink, Klang, Klinklang.

Cloud Nine -

Description - Eliminates the effects of weather.

Guild Mechanics - Eliminates the effects of Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Hail, Sandstorm, or related abilities which effect the weather.

Pokemon - Psyduck, Golduck. Lickytung, Lickilicky, Swablu, Altaria.

Color Change -

Description - Changes the Pokémon’s type to the foe’s move.

Guild Mechanics - Changes the pokemon's type to the move which just hit. (Ex. Hit by Flamethrower, becomes a Fire-Type. Hit by Hydropump, becomes a Water-Type.)

Pokemon - Kecleon

Compound Eyes -

Description - The Pokémon’s accuracy is boosted.

Guild Mechanics - +2 to this Pokemon's Accuracy Rolls in battle. Outside of battle, if this pokemon is released, increase the chance of encountering a Wild Pokemon holding an item by 50%.

Pokemon - Butterfree, Nincada, Venonat, Yanma, Dustox, Joltik, Galvantula.

Cute Charm -

Description - Contact with the Pokémon may cause infatuation.

Guild Mechanics - If the opponent rolls 5+ with a Physical Attack against this pokemon, the Infatuation status is inflicted.

Pokemon - Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Igglybuff, Clefairy, Clefable, Cleffa, Skitty, Delcatty, Lopunny, Milotic, Minccino, Cinccino.

Contrary -

Description - Makes stat changes have an opposite effect.

Guild Mechanics - All moves or abilities that would normally increase a stat will decrease it, and ones that would normally decrease a stat will increase it. This also applies to self-inflicted moves, such as Charge Beam, Close Combat and Leaf Storm. This does not include Baton Passed stats.


Pokemon - Shuckle, Spinda, Snivy, Servine, Serperior

Cursed Body -

Description - Cursed Body has a 30% chance of disabling the opponent's used move when attacked. This works even if the attacker is behind a Substitute and when the user is knocked out, but will not activate if the Pokémon with Cursed Body is behind a Substitute.

Guild Mechanics - If opponent attacks & hits with a roll of 5, 10, 15, or 20 ...the move will be disabled.

Pokemon - Shuppet, Banette, Frillish, Jellicent, Frosslass

- Cheek Pouch

Description - Cheek Pouch causes a Pokémon to regain some HP when it consumes a Berry, on top of the effect the Berry will have when eaten.

Guild Mechanics - Pokemon will regain 1/5 their Max HP when consuming a berry.

Pokemon - Bunnelby, Diggersby, Dedenne

- Competitive

Description - Competitive raises the user's Special Attack stat by two stages for each stat lowered by an opponent, including the Special Attack stat itself.

Guild Mechanics - Raises SP-ATK by two levels each time a stat is lowered.

Pokemon - Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Milotic, Gothita, Gothortia, Gothitelle, Meowstic.

Corrosion-

Description - Corrosion allows the user to inflict poison on any Pokémon regardless of type, allowing them to poison Poison and Steel-type Pokémon.
This Ability has no effect on Toxic Spikes. It does not allow the Pokémon with this Ability to poison a Pokémon with Immunity, nor can the Pokémon with this Ability damage Steel-types with Poison-type moves.
If a move is reflected by the target of the Pokémon with this Ability due to Magic Coat or Magic Bounce, the reflected move will not be able to poison Steel- or Poison-type Pokémon.


Guild Mechanics - Corrosion allows the user to inflict poison on any Pokémon regardless of type, allowing them to poison Poison and Steel-type Pokémon.
This Ability has no effect on Toxic Spikes. It does not allow the Pokémon with this Ability to poison a Pokémon with Immunity, nor can the Pokémon with this Ability damage Steel-types with Poison-type moves.
If a move is reflected by the target of the Pokémon with this Ability due to Magic Coat or Magic Bounce, the reflected move will not be able to poison Steel- or Poison-type Pokémon.



Pokemon - Salandit, Salazzle

Comatose -

Description - Comatose makes the user act as if it were asleep, without inflicting the status. The user will receive double damage from Hex and Wake-Up Slap, can use Sleep Talk or Snore but not Rest, can be affected by Dream Eater and Nightmare, and is immune to status conditions.
Comatose is unaffected by Uproar and effects that prevent sleep (such as Electric Terrain and Sweet Veil). Comatose is unaffected by Mold Breaker, Turboblaze and Teravolt. Comatose cannot be swapped with Skill Swap or copied by Role Play or Trace, and also cannot be suppressed with Gastro Acid.
If a burned Pokémon transforms into Komala, it will not be cured of its status condition.

Damp -

Description - Prevents combatants from self destructing.

Guild Mechanics - The moves Selfdestruct and Explosion cannot be used so long as this pokemon is present.

Pokemon - Psyduck, Golduck, Poliwag, Poliwhirl, Poliwrath, Politoed, Wooper, Quagsire, Paras, Parasect, Horsea, Seadra, Kingdra, Mudkip, Marshtomp, Swampert, Frillish, Jellicent.

Download -

Description - Adjusts power according to the foe’s lowest Defense stat.

Guild Mechanics - Raises pokemon's ATK or SP-ATK stat by One Level depending on the lowest defensive stat of the opponent. (Ex. If the opponent DEF stat is lowest, the user's ATK rises. If the opponent SP-DEF stat is lowest, the SP-ATK stat rises.)

Pokemon - Porygon, Porygon 2, Porygon Z, Genesect.

Drizzle -

Description - The Pokémon makes it rain if it appears in battle.

Guild Mechanics - Causes the "Heavy Rain" weather condition. Same effects as Rain Dance, however these are permanent unless another weather altering move or ability is used.

Pokemon - Kyogre, Politoed.

Drought -

Description - The Pokémon makes it sunny if it is in battle.

Guild Mechanics - Causes the "Intense Sunlight" weather condition. Same effects as Sunny Day, however these are permanent unless another weather altering move or ability is used.

Pokemon - Groundon, Vulpix, Ninetails.

Dry Skin -

Description - Reduces HP if it is hot. Water restores HP

Guild Mechanics - Loses 1/8 of its HP at the end of every turn during the effects of "Intense Sunlight". Heals 1/8 of its HP at the end of every turn during the effects of "Heavy Rain".

In Addition, Fire-Type moves do 25% more DMG, while Water-Type moves heal 1/4 of their HP.

Pokemon - Paras, Parasect, Croagunk, Toxicroak, Jynx.

Defeatist -

Description - Lower's the pokemon's stats when their Health drops to half or lower.

Guild Mechanics - Halves the pokemon's ATK and SP-ATK stat when their HP drops to half or lower.

Pokemon - Archen, Archeops

Defiant -

Description - When it's stats are lowered, its Attack increases.

Guild Mechanics - The pokemon's ATK stat raises by 1 Level each time one of its stats is lowered, including the ATK stat itself. Not effect by self-inflicted stat drops, or those caused by teammates in Double or Triple Battles.

Pokemon - Mankey, Primeape, Farfetch'd, Pinplup, Priplup, Empoleon, Purugly, Pawniard, Bisharp, Braviary, Tornadus, Thunderus.

Dark Aura -

Description - Dark Aura increases the damage dealt by Dark-type attacks for all Pokémon on the field. Its effects are reversed by Aura Break.

Guild Mechanics - Dark Aura increases the damage dealt by Dark-type attacks for all Pokémon on the field by 1.5x. Its effects are reversed by Aura Break.

Pokemon - Yveltal

Disguise -

Description - Once per battle, when Mimikyu is hit by a damaging attack (including confusion damage), it will take no damage. When this effect activates, it also causes its appearance to change. Disguise will not be used up by entry hazards or weather damage. If Mimikyu's Disguise is busted, but it faints and is then revived, Disguise will be able to take a hit once more.
Disguise only blocks damage, and does not prevent other additional effects of damaging moves, such as getting paralyzed by Nuzzle. Disguise does not affect status moves.
Sound-based moves and moves used by Pokémon with Infiltrator cannot bypass Disguise for those reasons alone. If a Pokémon with Disguise has a substitute, the substitute will take damage before the Disguise.
Weakness Policy will not activate if the Disguise takes the damage.
Pokémon with Mold Breaker, Teravolt or Turboblaze, as well as those using Moongeist Beam or Sunsteel Strike ignore Disguise.

Pokemon - Mimikyu

Dazzling -

Description - Dazzling prevents opponents on the field from affecting the user and its allies with priority moves, including moves boosted by Prankster, Gale Wings or Triage. If an opponent attempts to use a priority move against a Pokémon with Dazzling, the text "[Pokémon] cannot use [Move]!" will appear.

Guild Mechanics - When a Pokemon with this ability is on the field increased priority moves cannot be used to Counterattack. Abilities that cause increased priority will be negated and Pokemon will still be subjected to the 2x Damage penalty for a failed counterattack.



Pokemon - Bruxish

Dancer -

Description - When another Pokémon uses a dancing move, a Pokémon with the Ability Dancer will immediately use that move as well without using up its turn. It will not activate on a move copied by another Pokémon with Dancer.
If the Pokémon with Dancer is confused, it may hurt itself instead of copying the move. If the Pokémon with Dancer is hit with Fake Out, it will flinch when it attempts to copy the move. A Pokémon that is locked into a consecutively executed move (such as Outrage) will still try to copy the move, but will fail.
Lunar Dance is copied after the original user fainted. If a Pokémon copies Petal Dance via Dancer, it will not be locked into the move. If the Pokémon with Dancer is under the effect of Taunt, it will still try to copy a status dancing move, but will fail.


Guild Mechanics - When another Pokémon uses a dancing move, a Pokémon with the Ability Dancer will immediately use that move as well without using up its turn. It will not activate on a move copied by another Pokémon with Dancer.
If the Pokémon with Dancer is confused, it may hurt itself instead of copying the move. If the Pokémon with Dancer is hit with Fake Out, it will flinch when it attempts to copy the move. A Pokémon that is locked into a consecutively executed move (such as Outrage) will still try to copy the move, but will fail.

Early Bird -

Description - The Pokémon awakens quickly from sleep.

Guild Mechanics - Pokemon will wake up in a MAX of 3 turns rather then the usual 5.

Pokemon - Doduo, Dodrio, Kangaskhan, Ledyba, Ledian, Natu, Xatu, Girafarig, Houndour, Houndoom, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry, Sunkern, Sunflora.

Effect Spore -

Description - Contact may paralyze, poison, or cause sleep.

Guild Mechanics - If the opponent rolls 2-4 higher while using a Physical Move, the Sleep Status is Induced. If the opponent rolls 5-9 higher with a Physical Move, the Paralysis Status is induced. If the opponent rolls 10+ with a Physical Move, the Poison Status is induced.

Pokemon - Paras, Parasect, Shroomish, Breloom, Vileplume, Foongus, Amoongus.

Emergency Exit-

Description - When a Pokémon with Emergency Exit drops below half of its full HP in battle, it will flee in wild battles, or switch out in Trainer battles. It can only activate when a Pokémon's HP falls from above half to below half; if it does not activate at that time, it will not activate at all (unless the Pokémon with this Ability restores HP).
Emergency Exit will not activate if the Pokémon's HP falls below half due to hurting itself in confusion, hail, sandstorm or using Substitute. This Ability will not activate if the HP of the Pokémon with this Ability is restored to above half immediately after it drops below half (such as due to a held Sitrus Berry).
It will activate only after the last hit of multi-strike moves, even if the HP of the Pokémon with this Ability drops below half before the last hit. If this Ability activates due to being hit by U-turn or Volt Switch, the user of that move will not be switched out.
If the Pokémon with Emergency Exit holds a Red Card, both activate at the same time. If the Pokémon with Emergency Exit holds an Eject Button, the Eject Button activates before the Ability has the opportunity to. Dragon Tail and Circle Throw switch out Pokémon before the Ability activates.
Emergency Exit will not activate on the player's Pokémon during trials.

Description - Powers down super- effective moves.

Guild Mechanics - Powers down x2 Effective moves to 1x. Powers down 4x Effective Moves to 2x.

Pokemon - Mr.Mime, Mime Jr.

Flame Body -

Description - Contact with the Pokémon may burn the foe.

Guild Mechanics - If the opponent rolls a 5, 10, 15, or 20 while striking this pokemon with a Physical Move, the Burn status is inflicted.

Pokemon - Magmar, Magby, Magmotar, Slugma, Magcargo. Ponyta, Rapidash, Heatran, Litewick, Lampant, Chandelure, Larvesta, Volcarona.

Flash Fire -

Description - Powers up Fire-type moves if hit by a fire move.

Guild Mechanics - Increases up users Fire-Type moves by x1.5 when hit by a Fire-Type move. Makes the owner of this ability Immune to Fire-Type moves.

This ability is not active while frozen.

Pokemon - Vulpix, Ninetails, Flareon, Heatran, Growlithe, Arcanine, Ponyta, Rapidash, Houndour, Houndoom, Cyndaquil, Quilava, Typhlosion, Entei, Litwick, Lampant, Chandelure, Heatmor.

Flower Gift -

Description - Powers up party Pokémon when it is sunny.

Guild Mechanics - Increases the ATK and SP-DEF stat of pokemon in the party by One Level during sunshine. Does not require Cherrim to be Released or Conscious.

Pokemon - Cherrim.

Forecast -

Description - Transforms with the weather.

Justified -

Description - Raises Attack when hit by a Dark-type move.

Guild Mechanics - Justified will raise the user's ATK stat one level when hit by any Dark-type moves. Unlike other abilities with immunity to certain typed moves, the user will still receive damage from the attack. Justified will raise ATK one level for each hit of a multi-hit move like Beat Up.

Guild Mechanics - This ability prevents indirect damage, such as from Hail, Toxic, or Leech Seed. It does not prevent status problems, rather protects from damaging effects.

Recoil and damage from being switched in (Such as spikes) is also negated. Does not prevent effects from trapping moves like Fire Spin, or the ATK decrease caused by Burn. Is immune from being full paralyzed.

Does not affect targets with Teravolt, Turboblaze, or Mold Breaker. Magic Bounce will only activate once a turn. If two opposing Pokémon have this ability only the target's Magic Bounce will reflect the move (i.e. the move will only be reflected once). Magic Bounce reflects the same moves that Magic Coat does.

Description - Contact with this Pokémon spreads this Ability.

Guild Mechanics - When the user is attacked by or attacks with a contact move the opposing Pokémon's ability is turned into Mummy as well. Multitype, Wonder Guard and Mummy itself are the only abilities not affected by Mummy.

Merciless -

Description - Attacks used by the Pokémon with this Ability will always become critical hits against poisoned targets, unless that target has Battle Armor or Shell Armor or is under the effects of Lucky Chant.

Guild Mechanics - When a Pokemon with this ability hits an opponent who has the Poison Status, they will gain the +1 of a Critical Hit (Up to +5 total). In addition, under these conditions, if the Pokemon rolls a natural 20 their move will deal 2x damage.
