The day was nice if a little gloomy out. But the cooler air felt nice and crisp. It made her skin prickle and the scents of the coming rain were soothing. The slight breeze teased her hair as the she-wolf sat outside with her faithful hazmutt. LW had tried to leave him behind, but Austin refused to let her be alone. He could sense the underlying sadness in her. Besides, they were outside, YAY! Austin loved being outside and laying in the grass, his head flopped in his lady masters lap.
LW kept a steady rhythm of stroking her minipets fur as she stared towards the trees of the Forbidden Woods. Her tail was curled around them and the only sound that could be heard was the faint chiming from the bells within her hair.
"How about we go pay the demon dorms a visit, Austin?" She asked after the sixth time her mind had wandered to thoughts of the nix. "I bet Aithne would love to see you." At mention of the Galaxia's name, the hazmutt gave a muffled woof and sat up, tail wagging excitedly. Giving him a small smile, LW got to her feet slowly and stretched. She took in another deep inhale of the calming scents of the outdoors before turning to head in the direction of the demon dorms.
She knew this path so well that she barely even realized that she had reached the dorms, entered them and was well on her way to Gabrian's room. It wasn't until she reached his room that she stopped to wonder if he was even in at this time. Not that it mattered. He wouldn't mind if she stayed in here even without him.
Austin, being impatient, pawed at the door and whined. LW sighed and shook her head at him, grasping the door knob and opening the door. "Hope you don't mind some company." She said as she stepped in as Austin brushed past her. He loved coming here just as much as going outside. The first thing he did was run over to the demon with a new minipet. What was that?! Austin gave it a quick look before jumping up and begging for attention in the form of ear scratches. Once these were received and another glance was directed at the fiery puppy thing, he pranced over to curl up next to Aithne.
LW on the other hand, just blinked at the puppy. That had a fiery body. Did she even want to ask? Moving around master and minipet, LW plopped down on the demon's bed to watch what the two were doing. "Umm...we aren't interrupting, are we?"

While it was true that the puppy like hellhound wasn't what Gabrian had been expecting when he'd brought the idea up to Ren... the small creature was probing that it'd be adequate regardless. More or less anyhow; the nix was still trying to go over the basics with it, and it was having a hard time listening to him, mostly because it (or rather, she) seemed more interested in exploring the room and any little crevice or hole within it that she could find. Not only that, but she had a habit of showing love through light nibbling, and when she got excited, she tended to lose control of the flames that enveloped her body, which meant that a couple of his pillows had been singed, not to mention a corner of his carpet.
"Sit," the puppy blinked up at the demon and tilted her head, then turned around and attacked a pillow to her side, sinking her teeth into it in an attempt to show it whom was boss, "Fira, SIT," the puppy turned her head to look up, her teeth still sunk inside the pillow; clearly she had decided her master had no idea the threat the pillow offered them all (not to mention the sanctuary of their room!). It was looking them all funny and thus, should be punished. Clearly. Almost as if an attempt to show Gabrian what she meant, she shook her head with a loud 'Grrrrrr' and tried to 'kill' the poor pillow. Only when she was satisfied did the puppy trot over to the demon to deposit her dead prey and trophy on his lap.
Letting out a sigh, the demon reached out with a hand and dragged it over the puppy's head, "You've got the wrong idea but... we'll get there. Eventually," it was right about then that the door opened to reveal both LW and her Hazmut, and the nix greeted them from where he sat cross legged on the floor, "Company is always welcome," the puppy, whom had been watching the door, growled loudly, and had Gabrian not grabbed her and sat her on his lap, it's probable she would have charged straight for the newcomers, "Fira? This is LW. She's...." and here, the demon actually hesitated. What was she, exactly? "Welcome in the room. You don't hurt her, understood?" when the puppy lifted an ear up and tilted her head, the demon continue, "Friend," he told the hellhound, and the small puppy apparently understood that word, because she wiggled herself free out of Gabrian's arms and trotted over to LW, looking up at her with strange, fire filled eyes. A beat, and then her tail wagged, showing she approved.
Aithne, whom had remain on the bed during the whole training session, seemed to perk up considerably upon the Hazmut's entry, and after just a moment (during which she stretched herself out), the Galaxia jumped off the bed and padded straight towards Austin, rubbing her head on him. Gabrian watch them for a moment before turning his attention back at LW as she sat on his bed, "You interrupt nothing; just a training session," he paused, "A failed one, actually," he seemed to consider something or other, a strange, troubled look crossing his features before he pushed himself up. He scooped up the tiny hellhound on his way to the bed and then sat himself by the she-wolf, "I think we need to talk," this was murmured as he looked at her out the corner of an eye.
Something in the back of his mind was telling him that... she seemed off though, and after those initial words, he turned to face her and reached out with a hand, turning her face so he could observe her, "Have you been getting much sleep, LW? You look troubled."

It was adorable. The fiery pup. What was it? Fire, hound...hellhound. It was a hellhound! That was growling at her. The she-wolf merely raised an eyebrow at it...her. Well, that wasn't quite the welcome she was expecting. But lately, she didn't expect too much out of the day anymore. Maybe a nap out under a tree. Her tail flicked half heartidly behind her when the pup came over to stare at her. LW stared right back into those fire filled eyes and smiled when her tail wagged. Crouching down, she let the hellhound sniff her hand before standing again. "Where did she come from?"
A small snort of amusement was directed at the demon and his hound. "Training is important." She said a little absently while she watched Austin and Aithne. Of course he'd wanted to come only to see her. "Failed? She is young. And I'd say it wasn't all failure. She knows I'm a friend." The she-wolf turned back to look at the demon with a smile. "That is at least some progress." Her smile had been rare as of lately, and it was nice to find it again. Yet it dropped almost as quickly as it appeared. Need to talk? Candlejack. Had she done something wrong? Would it surprise her? "Talk...?" She was almost afraid to look up and meet his gaze now. Her mind frantically tried to find something that she might have done wrong.
She felt his hand against her skin, turning her face towards him. LW felt small sitting there, trying not to freak out too much. And then his question hit her and she blinked at him. It was like that simple question was a key to a door. Yes, she was troubled. Haunted. And...lonely. Very lonely.
"I...no." LW felt her shoulders slump. "No. Not much." For the first time since being at the school, LW felt uncomfortable being in the monster dorms. Afraid even. She shivered and let her hands curl around the bedspread they sat on. "I...I can't sleep there. Not in my room. Or the dorms. Not since we...got back." This was only half true. She'd started to get a little better, but now there was a new reason she tried to avoid her dorm. One that she couldn't say out loud without feeling her chest constrict.
"The...I..." How could she explain her fear of the ceiling crumbling and falling on top of her? Explain what she had felt while dying? Although...Gabrian might be one of the few who could understand. "C-Ceiling. How I d-died." Ren. She took in a sharp breath and worked to focus on something else. Anything else.
"S-So...what...what is it you want to...t-talk about?" Why yes, she was trying to avoid the other half of her problems. Wasn't the ceiling fear enough to explain why she seemed so troubled? Maybe to someone that wasn't Gabrian. "I'm sorry, Gabe. I didn't want to bring my problems...and fears...to you." She'd just wanted a friendly face.

"A summoning tome," the demon's voice was almost matter-of-fact, but he allowed himself a small smirk as he looked at her, "Ren has one too. We were trying summon up big, strong hellhound pets and er... something apparently went wrong because we got..." he let the sentence hang in the air, unfinished as he looked down at the small pup in his arms; her collar, which hung loosely around her neck was nearly as big as she was, "I was looking to get something to help guard our rooms. As much as I adore my Galaxia and Death charm, both are preoccupied with other things; one seems more intent on seeking Austin out, and the other likes to nap more than is probably even possible," his head turned to look at the death charm, which had rolled on it's back and lay sprawled behind them on the bed, "He's quite useful when he's not sleeping. But anyhow. I decided a guard dog would be a nice thing to have."
If anything, it'd keep unwanted people out; after all, he'd been pondering getting something ever since the Sarias incident. He'd just never gotten around to it. After the island trip though, his paranoia levels had multiplied by a thousand, and it'd just seemed imperative to address the fact he always left his door open, which meant anyone could walk in, "Oh, hardly, actually," he lifted the pup up in his arms and placed her nose against his, "Actually, despite her looks, she's full grown," lowering the pup back down, he offered the werewolf a rueful smile, "Something about the summoner conditions the ahhh... the appearance of the hellhound, apparently," which meant that he did not find it particularly surprising that his looked like it did.
He watched as her smile wavered and then vanished. The way she reacted to his words would have been amusing if not for the fact the demon knew that once he spoke, he'd never be able to take it back, "Yes, LW, talk," he reached out with one hand and dragged his fingers over her tail in what he hoped was a comforting gesture. After all, the conversation was going to be hard enough as it was... he didn't want to make her edgy from the start, and he most certainly didn't want to hurt her. In fact, all of this was more for her benefit than his, and at the end of the day, it'd make her happy; at least... that's what he kept telling himself. There was a long beat, during which he allowed that question to sink in before he let out a small sigh, his mind taking him back to that Jackforsaken island again, "You're not the only one, you know. It's part of the reason I got Fira," the words were murmured, but he knew she could hear them, "I don't feel very safe lately," another rueful smile as he looked at her out the corner of an eye.
There was no denying that Gabrian had felt horribly glad he'd not been there to see her die; he wasn't sure how he'd reacted to the scenario, but as it was, he did understand, "Well," he looked up at the ceiling and hooded his eyes a bit, "You're welcome to sleep here, if you want. I rather that over having you sleep outside. If I can sleep here, so can you," after all, a great big chunk of ceiling had fallen down on him, and he was doing.... well, not well, but at least apparently better than the poor she-wolf, "These are the demon dorms, Puppy. I very much doubt they're going to fall to pieces any time soon. In fact, they're the least likely to ever fall apart."
At her prompting him to go on, the demon let out another sight, "I've been thinking," the words were drawled out as he continued to stroke her tail, "That... I'm not entirely sure where we stand," then, he turned to look at her, waiting until he caught her eyes before he continue, "Do you love me?" there was something there was prompted her to be sincere with him, though he already knew the answer to his question.

A what? Her brows furrowed as she tried to remember what that was. Wasn't it a book of some sort? Like a book of spells? Her gaze went down to the puppy hellhound in his lap as Gabe explained that something had 'gone wrong'. Privately, she disagreed. Just because it was little and...cute, didn't mean she couldn't do her job! LW could relate. Her eyes went from his Galaxia curled up with Austin to Charm behind them. The she-wolf's lips twitched and she reached back to lightly scratch the Death Charm's belly. Now this one she disagreed on. Mostly. When he was awake, Charm was quite the fierce guard dog. Key thing there being, when awake.
"Something about the summoner conditions the ahhh... the appearance of the hellhound, apparently,"
LW choked and all but sputtered in some much needed laughter. It felt so nice to laugh like this and she couldn't quite stop for a few minutes. It was cute because Gabe liked cute things?! Oh Jack! That was the best thing she'd heard for a week now. In fact, she couldn't really remember the last time she laughed. Or chose not to.
Her brief moment of normalcy and good humor disappeared far too quickly. She still couldn't fathom what he wanted to talk about, and why it felt so very important. There was something in the way he seemed almost hesitant or not sure how to breach whatever topic it was. It was making her nervous, heart starting to double in pace. A small part of her felt that same tightening inside she'd gotten from before. With Ren. Oh Jack please don't let it be Gabe too. She would break. LW knew it without a doubt. And the longer it took for him to actually bring up the 'talk' the more she felt like she was drowning.
"Y-you too?" It was surprising that his little admittance of also being afraid of something similar eased something inside. Allowed her to breathe. She followed his gaze up towards the ceiling and shuddered. "I...would appreciate that. But I still might be outside too. Not to sleep. I can promise to come here and sleep. But something about being outside...relaxes me. Eases the things tormenting my mind." LW looked down at the hand stroking her tail. "I've been going to the same small hill I go to when there is a full moon. It's nice and...quiet. Peaceful even."
Finally, finally they got to what he wanted to talk about. And that drowning feeling returned. His first three words had her frozen heart almost leaping out of her chest. Please. Please not him too. His next sentence didn't help and only confused her. Slowly, she looked up at him, knowing her eyes betrayed that deep pain she tried to hide, but what if he was about to do the same thing? What if...no. She was already distancing herself from Ren. LW couldn't do that with both boils.
"Do you love me?"
...What? Her mind blanked and violet eyes just stared. Why...what...Do you love me? Her immediate answer was yes. Yes she did. Yet...something wasn't right. That sentence was true and sincere, yet a lie. This definitely was not what she had been expecting and it showed. The she-wolf was all but stripped of her defenses and her emotions showed. Fear that she'd just about had to hear that she needed to give Gabrian distance. Like Ren. Exhaustion from hard nights of terror and loneliness. And the true answer to his question. Did she love him? Yes. Yes she did. But did she love him?
LW couldn't say it. Couldn't get the word out. No. No she didn't love him. Not like that. The she-wolf felt the last small failed restraints to keep herself together and leaned forward until her head rested against the nix. It was too much. Her eyes felt wet as liquid trailed down her cheek. It wasn't the same as what had happened with Ren. But it was still hurt in it's own way.
"I...I'm sorry, Gabrian." It was all she could think to say. And that horrible feeling of loneliness gripped her, forcing her next words out, almost in a sob. "Don't...please don't...shut me out. Push me away..." She couldn't do anything right for either of the boils, could she? "I'm sorry."
