Savage had waited for all the students to file out before she placed her magazine of boats down and actually stared at Merope. It wasn't a warm and friendly stare nor was it a hateful stare. Just a stare of the blank variety which seemed to be unwavering. This stare lasted a good long moment before the professor actually opened her mouth to speak.

"So." She began, "You don't know what a ship is. You don't know what a ship is..." Savage had repeated the statement twice because she her self was still struggling with the idea that this student before her who was of relation by species did not know the splendor of what a ship was. It actually broke Savages heart having to say that to a leviathan of Meropes age, be him undead, but all the same. Breaking.

"Well well well..." Savage helped her self up and in a menancing way, not intended but very much so menancing, approached Merope in long drawn out strides. When she was close enough the Professor spoke again in a hiss of whisper, "What do you have to say for your self?"

Even though he was dead, it didn't mean he couldn't feel anything. He was feeling rather nervous right now. Ashamed, even, though he didn't know why. Just the sheer blanklessness of Professor Savage's stare was enough to make the undead boil shift uncomfortably under her gaze. A sudden bond was formed between Merope and his human specimen in the jar. Was this what it was like? To be stared at, and all you could do was stare back? Man, living in that jar must suck!

When Savage spoke, Merope's earfins drooped. His large fins on his back even pressed down in an attempt to make him look smaller. He was a pathetic little fry -- go on, big fish, don't bother eating this one. He's not worth it and tastes horrible, really!

"Umm," he began as the professor addressed him. "I, er,
well, you see I... I'm sorry?" he squeaked out, shrinking under her gaze. "It's not like I've seen one before... I think..."

Savage actually started to tear up hearing that Merope had never actually seen a boat. Or at least the fact that he wasn't even sure if he'd seen one. A single tear fell down the professors cheek.

"Thats so sad!" And then the water works started. Savage had to, over dramatically, make her way back to her desk to get a tissue. On the way she managed to knock over jars of specimens and model boats. Glass shards laid where they fell as Savage blew her nose and continued her water works and even punched a rubber ducky off her desk. She was just SO UPSET.

Then instantly Savage was back on her feet. Her eyes were still puffy and red though.

"Well." A hand fell on her hip. Uh oh. Serious business, "Sounds like we need to show you what a boat is." The professor pointed to a model boat that survived being knocked to the ground. Its jar had not been so lucky though. "THAT is a boat. Though it is only a model. REALLY take in that image Merope. REALLY take it in."

Was she crying? Merope stared, dumbfounded at Professor Savage. No way. There wasn't any way that she was seriously... I mean, was she really crying? Really? He was shocked.

And then she really started crying. His good eye went wide as things were knocked off her desk, the boil jumping back in surprise as the glass shattered on the ground. It was a good thing he was undead -- walking over that with his bare talons wasn't going to hurt him. Other students, though... meh. A gnome would come by sooner than later to clean it up. Maybe.

But... He carefully stepped over the glass and reached out to awkwardly pat the professor on the shoulder. Merope had no idea what to do. His arm fell to his side as Professor Savage brought herself together. "Really... take it in?" He echoed as she pointed out the boat. He leaned forward to squint and stare at the boat. If the bottle was bigger, he'd probably press his face against it to get a better look at it.

"Um... Professor? How do I take it in? I don't think I can eat it, 'cause the bottle gets in the way. I don't think I can drink it either." He began hesitantly, reaching out with a claw to tap the bottle. "I mean. Yeah, it's tiny and I could probably eat it in a couple of bites, but I don't think we eat boats...?"

Savage listened to Merope and had a sneaking grin grow wider and wider and wider on her face.

"Well, if you want to eat it you can. But I prefer if you went over there and smashed it then stomped on it. I think that is probably the best idea. The bottle is not whats important here but you can smash that too." In fact Merope would have to smash the bottle to get to the boat.

"After you do that one, please feel free to smash another, then another then maybe we'll get some where." Savage put another hand on her hip, "But do stay away from the specimens. Those are harder to come by then these dinky little boats."

Wait.
Wait.
Wait.

He could... smash the boat? Smash it, mash it, stick it in a stew? The boil stared at the professor, then back at the boat, then back to Savage and then finally back at the boat. He picked the bottle up uncertainly, glancing to Savage once again before bringing the bottle against her desk.

The glass shattered, and so did the boat. Merope dropped the half of bottle-and-boat in surprise, staring at where they landed on the floor. He then jumped up and landed on the mess, jumping again and again until the boat was little pieces beneath his feet.

Once complete, Merope looked at Savage questioningly. "So... boats are for smashing?" he guessed, picking up another boat from her desk to twist and turn it in his hands, staring at it.

"Boats are for our amusement dear child. Please continue smashing. I can move on and teach you in our own element where the real fun actually begins. For now. Smash."

Savage was actually getting teary eyed again watching Merope smash the boat into little tiny bits. Happiness would be an understatement. Savage could barely contain her excitement for when she actually introduced Merope to sinking ships. Oh that would be a fun sight. For now though it was good to keep it basic. Yeah. Start small for now.

Part of Savage really wanted to join in the smashing. It looked like a great deal of fun. But Savage had already smashed some in her over dramatic water works so she stood by the side lines and let Merope have the fun. At least this time.

"But they're just sitting there in bottles!" Merope protested, waving around the current bottle he was holding. At least he was until he drop-kicked it. Unfortunately for him, he missed the kick and settled instead for stomping it into bits again.

He picked up another boat and tossed it in his hands before turning towards the desk in the front row of the class. With a deep undead breath, Merope brought the edge of the bottle onto the desk's edge to break it. The top half of the bottle came off, allowing Merope to slide the boat out of the glass bottle. He held it in his hands, marveling at it.

And then he took a bite out of it.

"Pfwagh!" He spat the pieces out and grimaced, settling instead for squeezing the boat and breaking it apart bit by bit. "It tastes like wood and glue, blech! Are there seriously people out there who'd eat these? Is that why they come in bottles?"

"Well when you get in the moment some times taking a bite out of the ship seems to drive the sailors crazy scared... WHA!" Savages eyes grew wide at the question why boats came in bottles. "Oh.. you need to smash more but my dear Merope. These are small scale models. I assure you when you see the marvel of a real boat you'll..." Savage really took a look at the boy and frowned. "Just... continue smashing for now Merope and let me know how you feel after wards."

The red head took a seat and crossed her arms expectantly. She wasn't loosing faith in Merope just yet. No. Savage would help this dear boy with his ignorance of boats.

"Sailors? What are those?" Merope asked, looking to her desk when Savage pointed out his need to smash more bottles. With a shrug, Merope did just that. The first bottle he picked up was broken by dropping and stomping on it. As was the second. Then third. Then fourth. Merope picked a couple more up and off Savage's desk and set them on the floor, lining them up. With a smile that stretched across his face, Merope began jumping from one to the other like a child splashing through rain puddles.

"These things come in bigger sizes?!" He exclaimed eagerly, walking over to the bottles and things that Savage had knocked over earlier. Careful to avoid the fallen specimens, Merope smashed the boats that survived the fall off of Savage's desk. "How do you smash the bigger ones? How big are we talking about?"

"Sailors are humans that ride boats. But you'll learn more about them in class. They aren't as exciting as the actual boat but they are very important humans." Savage rested her chin on a hand and watched Merope go at the boats. It was refreshing to watch Merope smash the boats like it was childs play. Which really it kinda was. Savage couldn't have been more proud though.

"OH YES! Boats come in all sizes. These boats are nothing compared to a human world functioning boats. SOME boats are even metal and so big it would blow your mind. BUT with years of practice and creativity even the toughest of boats go down easily." Savage got up from her seat and extended her hand to Merope, "Come with to my office Merope. We'll learn more there."

The crackle of shattering glass and splintering wood was music to Merope. He was having a lot of fun, even if he was doing nothing more than rampaging around like a descendant of Godzilla. Then again, what was wrong with that? Maybe he should invest in some do-it-yourself cities that the monster district sells and put some together, only to destroy them afterwards. But... to do so would mean to trade his shiny horde away. Hm. Choices, choices...

Merope stopped his rampage to stare at the professor. "Functioning boats? You mean boats are supposed to do something?" He stared at the unsmashed boat remaining on Savage's desk. "They don't look like much..."

The undead boil trailed off, unsure of himself. What did he know? He was just a student. With a shrug, he carefully accepted Savage's hand and allowed himself to be lead to her office, curiosity written all over his face.

Savage gave Merope a cryptic smile, "You are adorable." Was all she said before she clasped his hand into her own. Merope really didn't know anything about boats and Savage was coming to terms with that. Maybe because she enjoyed watching him destroy all those models. Maybe.

Savage lead the confused Merope to her office making sure to hold tightly on to his hand. With a side kick, Savage opened her office door revealing a very similar stated room as the class room. Seaweed and barnacles with rotten sea wood as far as the eye could see. The biggest difference in this room though was a personal sized indoor swimming pool. One could argue by the decorated duckies on the side it was clearly a kiddy pool. Still even so, the pool was a good enough size to have model sail boats float in. These models were to big to fit in bottles though. They were large enough for a small child to fit in.

"Well were here~" Savage guided Merope to the "pool of learning" And stopped to marvel at the site. She'd yet to explain her reasoning to come to the office.

"Um... thank... you? I think?" Merope replied uncertainly. He wasn't sure how Yui would react to finding out that a professor called him adorable. Then again, he wasn't sure if she even wanted to know about it in the first place. He decided to keep what had just transpired to himself, especially when the professor tightened her grip on his undead hand.

He jumped when the professor kicked the door to her own office open, staring in disbelief. "A pool?" He gasped, staring in disbelief. No way. No way! How cool was this?! It was too cool for words, that's what!

Merope followed the professor in, stopping when she stopped to simply stare. "Those... are boats. Floating." He began, leaning forward over the pool's edge to stare out at them. "So coooool!"

Savage nodded. Indeed it was cool that the boats were floating but the part to come was much more exciting and Savage had a feeling Merope would find it much more appealing then watching these boats float.

"So Merope," The professor took a seat at what she called a desk. Really it was just a lump of old drift wood that seemed to have a bad habit for attracting books and other things.

"Would you like to get in the pool with the boats?"
