Thanks to my newfound love of Jeff Bridges, I've been craving a copy of Tron: Legacy on DVD recently (thank-you Sky Movies), and it's got me thinking - what item from a science fiction film or book would you just LOVE to own a real, functional, honest-to-goodness version of?
I ask this because I want a Light Cycle. A real, working light cycle from Tron: Legacy. Why? Well, my friends haven't been able to fault my usual "Why wouldn't you want one? It's a motherf***ing light cycle!", but I want one mainly because you can store it in your bag, so hey! Free parking! And who wouldn't look sexy as all hell riding one? Pity it only works on the Grid... stare
How about you?

From? I'm sorry, I should have mentioned in the opening post that it would kind of help if you put what it's from and why you'd want it...

Ooh a light cycle would be cool but I think I'd want a TARDIS (Dr. Who but do items from tv shows count?). I think it would be great to be able to travel through time and space, to be able to see history while it's happening.

Yeah, they count since Dr. Who has had films I think.
And yes, a Tardis would be AWESOME! If used responsibly. I'd love the Dr's pen/screwdriver/muti-tool thingy though!

I forgot about the films, I even watched one just a couple of weeks ago. I didn't think about the sonic screwdriver, that would be really handy. I'd never have to wait for someone to get home to open a jar for me again.

Krissi-Chaos From? I'm sorry, I should have mentioned in the opening post that it would kind of help if you put what it's from and why you'd want it... A neurolizer from Men in Black kinda works like that. Saber Pendragon I forgot about the films, I even watched one just a couple of weeks ago. I didn't think about the sonic screwdriver, that would be really handy. I'd never have to wait for someone to get home to open a jar for me again. You are adorable. I'm sure I'll come up with something in the next few days or so.

Well, they make those things so hard to open. ^//^ Oh but I bet I could use it to cook bacon without burning myself too...maybe...

TARDIS, definitely. A tricorder or sonic screwdriver would be quite useful, too.

A TARDIS seems to be pretty popular.

In truth, I think we'd all get pretty bored with time travel, because you can't really do much with it. I'd want it to go back to the 80's and go and watch the last Pink Floyd concerts, then go back a couple of years to see Placebo play at Angkor Wat. That's about it, really.

I would use it more to move through space and maybe use it to go back and forth with shorter durations, a few hours or a day or two.

Well that's not very creative of you. I'd use it for economical reasons. Just think of it... Find a place that's been open for generations in the same establishment, go back to the 1950s with nothing but a $10 bill and eat like a king. I do that everyday if I wouldn't get fat. Take another $10 with you and you can buy stocks. For those of you in the US, don't forget the gold standard. You could go back to 03 and talk yourself into joining Gaia and buying this thing known as a "golden halo." That's a soundly invested $2.50. Before I go any farther, I'm not familiar... To what time travel theories does that show prescribe?
