After a few weeks of talking, hunting, singing, and over all enjoying herself Kanya knew the time had come. Sozin needed to be about his way and just as the open land was calling to him, it was calling to her as well. The last few days were bittersweet for Kanya. She truly enjoyed Sozin. His intellect, his humor, his honer, and the nights they had together. Such thoughts made her face flame in embarrassment, not that any could tell with her coloring.
Time moves on as it must and they parted ways in the morning's light. At dusk Kanya stopped and found a place to rest. With the fading warmth of the sun at her back and the soft breeze in her face she started to sing softly.
May it be an evening star, Shines down upon you. May it be when darkness falls, Your heart will be true. You walk a lonely road; Oh, how far you are from home....
Mornie utulie (darkness has come), Believe and you will find your way. Mornie alantie (darkness has fallen), A promise lives within you now....
May it be the shadows call, Will fly away. May it be your journey on, To light the day. When the night is overcome, You may rise to find the sun.
Mornie utulie (darkness has come), Believe and you will find your way. Mornie alantie (darkness has fallen), A promise lives within you now....
A promise lives within you now.... (( Celtic Women - May It Be))

A dark lion roamed aimlessly, his eyes empty – one of them, anyway. The other could hardly be seen beneath a white mask, a heavy burden on his face, but lighter than the burden beneath it. There was a wilting rose tied into his black mane, and it seemed to embody his feelings. ”I don’t want much.” Words echoed softly around him. ”Just to find out what happiness is.” He was clearly lonely, and his legs felt heavy as he lifted them with each step. ”While everybody else is winning, I’m stuck waiting for my new beginning.” His eyes looked about aimlessly, almost as if he expected such a beginning to appear right before him. ”Happiness is wherever I find it. I may be full of life’s frustrations, but I’m up for negotiations.” There was little to negotiate, of course. He was alone, completely and wholly alone, rejected by the burden beneath his mask. ”My happiness is wherever I find it.”
As he looked around, his eyes suddenly lighted upon a soft, rust-colored leopardess, sitting alone. She, too, appeared sad. This was a feeling that they shared, but he doubted that she would understand his own remorse. But he heard sweet music flowing from her lips, and couldn’t help being drawn to the notes. Such music, his one true love – he was drawn by her voice, even if she herself didn’t matter to him. ”And I want to find it with you.”

Kanya let the last lines of the song drift in the early evening air. As the fading notes scattered on the slight wind the blind leopardess picked up another voice, another song. She just caught the last line which made her think that he, for it was a male voice, had been singing softly just as she was.
She turned trying to pinpoint the voice but with the lines fading just as hers did it was harder then Kanya expected. Still, she felt eyes upon her so she knew she was no longer alone, even if she was unable to sense the male yet. "Hello," She called out softly, her voice carrying.

"Hello," he responded, his voice empty as he searched for her hollow eyes. He stepped closer, a few paces in front of her, and searched her face for emotion, a reaction to the music. It appeared that they had more than just the music in common - her eyes were distorted, disturbingly empty. There was clearly something wrong in them, but he could not tell if it was emotion or something physical. Either way, he would understand the situation completely. His own eye, while it could still see relatively well, certainly did not wish to be seen. Rended by scars and growths and festering disease. Perhaps she would sense the distortion and be scared away... He did not wish to be alone. He wanted to hear her voice again.

Kanya frowned slightly. The greeting was polite enough but there was no true feeling behind it. She could feel the presence of the other as he, she was pretty sure it was a male, stopped a few paces from her. A bit uncomfortable with the close proximity of a strange male that she did not know but siting down didn't leave very many escape routes if all she wanted to do was just back up a bit. "If you don't mind I would prefer a bit of personal space." She said this politely but with enough of a bite to let the male know that to her, he was too close. "It is not that I don't appreciate company, in fact I quite enjoy it, but being unable to see what you are doing make me a bit nervous." She didn't bother to tell him that she other ways of figuring out what might happen.
Given a moment or two to make sure Kanya was positive that her companion was male and a lion unless she missed her guess. Even without her sight Kanya had a pretty good picture of the world around her, compiled as it was by sound, touch, smell, and taste.
