He had been working himself to the point of nearly dropping with exhaustion. Then, somehow, he had found the energy to work beyond that. Scheelite wasn't like some of the other officers, there was no work or school keeping him busy during the day. Hours that had once been spent annoying Heather or hanging out at the local arcade had recently been devoted to scouring the city. By day he looked for clues, by night he filled his energy quota and continued searching the city. Determination he had in spades, but it seemed that even hyperactive Captain Scheelite had a breaking point as far as energy went.

How long had it been since the officers had gone missing? Much like they had no idea, caught in the limbo of long bouts of unconsciousness broken up by torture sessions, Scheelite had long since lost track of time. There was only time spent searching, and little bits of time spent resting. Really he should have been spending -more- time resting, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

Tonight he found himself pacing on the roof of a building, waiting for his new recruit to show up. He vaguely recalled inviting her to go on a patrol with him, and he was desperately hoping that he had remembered the details right and tonight was the night they were meant to meet up and patrol together. The company would be nice, a little breakup in the monotonous routine he had found himself in.

Still, he was getting -really- antsy...

Fluorite was coming, just a little slower than most. The girl had chosen to stick to the stairs at the back of the building for her ascension, and she certainly couldn't teleport even if she had wanted to.

She really hoped it was less stomach-churning when you where the one doing it, and not the one up for an unannounced wild ride.

She finally managed her way to the rooftop proper, and stopped. "Schee..." She really did attempt to call him captain most of the time. She did - but now the name proper came out. He looked like he was about to fall over at the slightest wind.

She pursed her lips, wondering for a moment if she should say anything. He had rank over him, but... her worry was apparent. "Schee, you look like you're going to fall over at any moment..."

He was going to ride himself into the ground, and then... what ? No, she couldn't let that happen.

Scheelite was not the type of captain to bother with formalities. Schee was a perfectly acceptable thing to call him. So was captain, or cap, or sugarhigh, or whatever anyone felt like calling him. Though he'd never admit it in front of the other higher ranking officers, he -preferred- being called by his name. It was much more relaxed, where as being called Captain left him feeling oddly out of place.

The blonde turned, giving Fluorite a tired smiled before turning away again to look out over the city.

"Evening Fluorite. I'm fine, I assure you I'm not going to fall over. So...ready to go out on patrol?"

Seems he wasn't going to be so easy to persuade.

Oh, hell no.

"Schee... Come on." She shook her head, and walked the few steps that separated them, until she was standing right in front of him. "...My parents are out of town for the week. You can come home with me, ill make you the best tacos you've ever had." Unfair play ? Maybe. "And you can play with my puppy... And sleep in Matty's old room."

Of course, she was well aware she couldn't do that without concessions. "There are other people looking... They can handle it for tonight. Then ill skip school tommorow and we can take over for them. Okay ?"

Then, she closed her arms around him, letting her head rest on his chest. "Maybe it's selfish, but I can't lose you..." It felt like she had lost him once before, when he'd gone to Hillsworth and they had lost touch. She'd missed him, but now the stakes were much higher than just that.

"I can't Fluo...my family's out there. We have to find them, before it's too -late- to find them. Any time spent resting is time they could be getting hurt! Or killed! I can't have that hanging above my head and I couldn't live with myself if they got hurt and..."

He fell silent as she wrapped her arms around him. A moment's hesitation and then his own arms went around her, head resting on top of hers.

"Tacos huh? ...A puppy ********, that was pretty tempting. His stomach growled at him to let him know yes you want some damn tacos. Still...

"You...you promise we can go back to looking in the morning right? Morning is when there's barely anyone out looking and we NEED people looking then..."
PostPosted: Sat Apr 02, 2011 5:15 pm

If there was something she liked about being so small, this was it - whenever someone hugged you, it was like being wrapped into a cocoon of warmth.

"Yes, first thing in the morning. I promise. We can look all day if you want to." As long as he rested first. She was going to be in so much trouble for skipping school.... but it didn't matter now.

"We're a team, Schee." She said softly after letting go of him. "A family... We work together, not alone. There will be others looking tonight, then we'll look tomorrow. You don't need to carry everything on your shoulders alone,"

This was an odd situation for Fluorite, who had been brought into the negaverse after the officers had been taken. She hadn't known any of them, and yes the wound felt raw on her heart as if she had known them from years. They had been taken, it was not right, and there would be hell to pay for this.

"I need to find them Fluo. They mean so much to me... Wolfy was on a team with Zink, Para, and I when we were just lieutenants. I've known Uranophane forever and she's so strong, and then there's Tanzanite...she took care of me Fluo, even after I said some really horrible things to her she took care of me and I want to take care of her. And Dioptase! She's not even FROM here but she's fighting a war in our part of the world and now she might -die- for it. I can't let it happen Fluo we have to find them."

Scheelite slowly let go and looked absolutely miserable for it. Resting felt so wrong, he should be out still looking. Even IF the others were out scouring the city now they always needed extra eyes. Always.

"O-okay...just for tonight."
Her captain was pouting heavily, but he had at least agreed to rest. Tonight.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 02, 2011 6:40 pm

No amount of pouting, and no amount of rank-pulling would change Fluorite's mind on this. She could not, and would not, be shaken. She didn't want to be the one to have to explain that her captain had passed out mid-patrol... if not worse.

Even if just for tonight, it was a small victory at least, and she began to lead him back to the stairs. "Do you remember where my house is ?" It had been awhile - she certainly wouldn't blame him if he didn't remember.

"I....I don't, I would have shown up and bugged you if I did..."
Though at the moment he couldn't decide if he really didn't remember, or if he simply couldn't remember due to being so tired. Likely though, he simply didn't remember.

He followed along at her heels, quickly giving a confused look once he realized they were going for stairs.
"Why don't you uh...just hop down Fluo? It's easy! And quicker...though stairs can work, I guess."

At least if he didn't remember where her house was he couldn't teleport.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 04, 2011 12:24 pm

Oh, yeah... There was that, indeed. "Well, it's not too far away from here. Will only take us a few minutes, though we probably should power down somewhere on the way."

Green eyes blinked at the blonde's next words. "It's a little.... high to just... well... jump, isn't it ?" No, the stairs were nice and safe. Niiiiiice and safe.

Nice and safe was good. Ayup.

"Nah...it's never too high! I'll meet you down there, okay? Stairs really aren't my thing anymore."

And then, just as she probably remembered him, Scheelite just had to be a showoff and take the harder way down. The captain ran over to the edge....and leaped.

A few well practiced wall jumps later and Scheelite had skidded to a nice easy landing on the ground below. All that was left was to wait by the stair entrance for Fluorite.

....?!?!?!!!!!

"HAY WAI--" And off he went, leaving his wide-eyed, freaked out captain behind.

For a moment, she didn't move. Then, she promptly face-palmed. And ran down the stairs.

"Are you nuts ?!?" Was the question she asked a split-second after she had made her way down - poor Fluorite looked throughly freaked out. "You could have hurt yourself...."

"Nu uh, I've practiced that kind of stuff for hours and I'm totally good at it! See, not a scratch on me, clearly I'm -awesome-. And totally -not nuts-."

The captain spent a moment of their time doing an amazing strut, before powering down into the simple (but brightly colored) hoodied figure of Demy.

"So, lead the way!"

Fluorite had a look to herself that could only be resumed as the Worried Mother Glare - through eventually, she did let it go and sigh. "I just don't want you hurt, you know ?"

All it took was a simple thought before Fluorite was gone, replaced by a pink spring jacket and jeans. "I should have everything I need at home already..." She mused out loud, heading toward the sidewalk and expecting Demy to follow.

"I'm okay Ashley, really!"
The blonde boy tagged along at her heels. Despite being the higher rank, Demy was usually quite content to go with the flow and follow behind others. Especially when others were offering -tacos-.

"You've got everything for tacos right? I...still don't think this is right, taking the night off....but I do -really- want tacos... Can we watch a movie Ashley? Pleaseeeee?"

Truth be told he was glad for the night off, even if he felt horribly guilty taking it. He was starting to feel pretty run down....
