Meggie had lost Shade - again. If there was something that she was consistent with when it came to her son, it had to be the fact that she could never seem to keep an eye on him. It shouldn't have been that hard, and yet she always seemed to be losing him! This time, it was during a trip to the circus. She'd brought her son there, thinking that he could use something to lift his spirits after what had happened at school a few days prior - it had gone well until it came time to go home. Then, she'd turned around for a minute, only to look back and find that the small boy was gone.
Again.
So, her frantic searching began. "Shade?! Shade! Wherever you are, come back! Shade, this isn't funny!" God, what if something happened to him??? She wouldn't be able to forgive herself if he got hurt! Where could he be though? He normally wandered off when something got his attention, but where could she start looking? They were at the CIRCUS! Anything could have gotten his attention here!
As it turned out, the thing that had caught Shade's attention wasn't actually anything spectacular - at least, it wouldn't have been seen as spectacular to anyone else. Somehow, the little impling had managed to wander around to the living area behind the main circus, where he'd found an old stove. Any normal child would have seen it as nothing out of the ordinary, but Shade wasn't exactly normal. To him, it wasn't just an old kitchen appliance - it was something that he could take apart, something that he could tinker with. He could learn how it worked.
With those thoughts in mind, the little boy opened the large appliance and peeked inside - he then received a surprise as he discovered that the empty compartment was not quite as empty as he thought it was.
"Hullo..." he said quietly to the small form that he saw sitting inside the stove. "What're you doin' in there...?" It was probably a strange question, coming from the kid who'd been interested in playing around with an old stove in the first place.

Patricia was presently in the process of looking for her own impling as well. While a good deal less frantic than Meggie - Mouse went missing harmlessly enough most of the time - she was still searching around for her daughter animatedly, dressed in her 'beautiful assistant' costume from the show still.
However, when the woman spotted what looked like a troubled mother calling for her little one, she darted over. "Are you okay? Did you lose someone?" she asked gently, looking at Meggie curiously.
From inside the stove, the little form grinned toothily before poking her head out, "Sneeaaaaaaaaakin." she informed the other child, wiggling her nose a bit as she looked at him. "Wotchuuuuuuuuu doin in th'stove? S'broked."

Megg jumped slightly as a woman came up to her, asking if she was alright. It took her a moment to come up with a coherent response, and when she did, it was still little more than a nod and a shaky reply. "I-I lost my son." the young woman stated, clearly worried. "H-He wandered off, and I have no idea w-where he could have gone!" She noted quite quickly that the woman appeared to be one of the circus performers - perhaps she'd be able to help find Shade! "He's about this big. He's g-got gold eyes, black hair...f-fur to match..." Which probably sounded strange, considering that she was so obviously human, but that wasn't her concern right now - she HAD to find him!
Shade tilted his head at the impling girl who was obviously much younger than he was. "'M gonna take it apart." he stated, glancing about to see if there was anyone else around. When he saw that there wasn't, he looked back to the little girl. "Why're you sneakin'? Are you playin' hide 'n seek?" He played that with his Mama sometimes, and Kai too!

Patricia paid attention to the description of the child, but couldn't help but smile and chuckle at that, "He sounds like my little Mouse. She loves running off and hiding. We can probably find them both if we look hard enough. Is there anything your son likes to do in particular?"
The teeny impling looked from the stove to Shade, "Takin it 'part is good. S'areddy broked, so no ones can yells at chu." she stated, crawling out of it, "I helps. Hidin's fun, but I ne'r taked things 'part." It seemed the question about why she'd been sneaking had gone right over her little head. Then again, she didn't think very often about WHY she hid, just did it because it was fun.

Well, at least she had help now. "Y-Yeah, he likes taking things apart. Electronics, usually..." After a few moments, Megg managed to calm down a bit - freaking out wasn't going to help with finding Shade. Actually, it would probably just make things worse. "Thank you. I appreciate it..." The brunette managed to give the woman a small smile. "I only turned around for a second..."
Shade didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that Mouse hadn't answered his question. She wanted to help him take the stove apart? No one ever helped him! If anything, he usually got in trouble - apparently, taking apart the toaster and the blender wasn't much appreciated back at the mansion. "Okay!" The little boy scooted himself back out of the oven, moving himself out of the way so that the littler impling could get out as well. Then, he moved around the side of the oven, taking hold of a loose part of the side of the appliance - it looked as though it could be pulled off fairly easily. "Help me pull this off, 'kay? Then we c'n look inside!"

Patricia nodded, "That's just how it is with Mouse. You blink and she's gone." the woman agreed, thinking for a moment. "Well if he likes electronics, they'd most likely be in the living area at the back. There's some appliances, a few broken ones, and a good number of places to hide too."
"K!" Mouse agreed, dashing around to pop up seemingly underneath and between Shade's arms and start pulling too. How she moved that quickly or that well was a mystery with her tubby little rear and big head, but she seemed to be expert at it just the same. Already she was putting her feet up on the side of the stove to help in pulling, just like she'd help in climbing up it. This was fun! She'd never taken stuff apart before!

A place with a lot of appliances - that definitely sounded like somewhere that Shade would go. Megg nodded slightly in agreement, feeling glad that she was with someone who knew this place so well. "Could you show me where that is...?" She hoped that Shade was indeed there - she didn't know what she'd do if he'd managed to wander off somewhere else, or if someone had taken him. The last one frightened her the most, and she did her best to not think of that possibility. If she was lucky, then the little boy would be with this woman's child.
Shade blinked as the little girl popped up between his arms, and couldn't help but giggle at her as the two of them tugged at the metal. After a few moments of pulling, the piece came loose. Shade yelped as he landed back on his rear and shook his head slightly to clear it - then, he grinned upon seeing the wires and electrical work that had been underneath that. It was a good thing that the old stove wasn't plugged in, or else this may have been dangerous for the two children. "C'mon, lets ge' a look!" The little boy scrambled to his feet and scurried over, already setting to work at dismantling the wiring. "This 's so cool!"

Patricia nodded, leading Meggie towards the back area where they kept things that were still being repaired. As she neared it, however, the woman started hearing giggles and a boy's voice, "Listen, does that sound like your son?"
Mouse hugged the part they'd pulled to her as she fell back, giggling when they fell, before rushing after Shade to look inside. Sure, she had no idea what all those wires were, but he said to look! Standing on her tiptoes she peaked in the hole, still clutching the part to her, seeing how it was much bigger than she was. "Oooh colored stringies, what's they for?"

Megg too heard the sound of giggling, and her eyes widened when it did, indeed, sound like her son. "Y-Yes! I think so!" The brunette broke into a run, hurrying towards where she could heard the laughter emanating from, the young woman rounded a corner and soon found who she was looking for - Shade, as well as another little impling, though the other child was a girl. Perhaps she was the other woman's child?
Shade was oblivious to the presence of his mother at first, as he was too caught up in looking at the wiring in the old stove. "That's what makes it work!" the little boy explained, his tail flicking with excitement. "It uses 'lectricity to-"
"Shade Fairbairn!" The impling boy froze, immediately recognizing his mother's voice, as well as her tone - it was a tone that meant that he was in serious trouble. Slowly, he turned to looked at Megg and saw her rushing over. Moments later, she'd turned the little boy around and was looking him over for any signs of injury. "What have I told you about running off?? I was worried sick!" She was glad that he was okay though. Shade bit his lip, knowing full-well that he shouldn't have taken off on his own - he'd just been so curious though!
"'M sorry Mommy..." Megg stared at the boy for a moment before looking back at the woman who had helped her find Shade.
"Thank you. It would have taken me forever to find him otherwise..."

Patricia chuckled. "You're welcome. I'm getting good at finding little ones," she said, reaching down and picking up Mouse. "Mousey likes to run off all the time."
The little teal impling giggled and snuggled into her mother's arms, kicking her feet some for fun, "We were takin' 'part the broked stoooooove."
Patricia rolled her eyes, "Well, it's in no worse state than before at least." Turning back to Meggie and Shade, she smiled, "If you'd like, they could keep playing with it, if you need a few minutes to relax. Unless you're in a hurry. Then I'll show you two the way out."

Let them keep playing with it? Megg thought about that for a moment and turned to look at her son. Shade gave her the biggest pout that he could muster, clearly trying to 'cute' his mother into letting him continue his experiments with the stove. The brunette ran a hand through her hair, seeming to contemplate it - she supposed that staying for a little while longer would do no harm. She'd still have a talk with Shade when they returned back to the mansion, however.
"I suppose that we could stay a little while longer." she finally said, causing the impling boy in front of her to beam happily. He quickly hugged her, clearly overjoyed by the idea of being able to play with the stove and Mouse longer. Despite herself, Megg couldn't help but smile, watching Shade once he'd let go and had scurried back over to the old stove. After a moment, she looked to Patricia.
"I haven't even introduced myself yet, have I?" she asked, feeling somewhat sheepish. "I'm Meggie. My son's Shade, but you probably already heard me say that..."

Mouse grinned, wriggling out of her mother's arms and bouncing a bit once she hit the ground. "Whee!" and off she was, hot on Shade's heels.
"What we gonna do neeeeext?" she asked, eyes bright with curiosity.
The older woman smiled, "Nice to meet you, Meggie. I'm Patricia, but you can just call me Patty. That's Mouse, I think I said." she commented, pointing to the little girl. "Would you like something to drink while we let them play? Our home's just over there and I could make us some tea or something if you'd prefer."

"Well, we've still gotta see if it'll still work!" Shade grinned as he ran back over to the hole that he and Mouse had made, peeking in at the bare wires - it was a good thing that the old appliance was no longer plugged in. Otherwise, this could have been potentially dangerous for the children. "I'm gonna try t' twist th' wires back, 'kay?"
The brunette nodded, looking towards the smaller child again. Of all the things that she'd expected to have happen today, meeting someone else with an impling had been the last on her list! It had been a happy coincidence though. Megg smiled at the offer and nodded slightly - after that little adventure, she certainly wouldn't mind having a quiet conversation. "Tea would be great - thank you."
