Oh ruddy hell Ubora thought to herself as she turned a corner in the massive tunnel and found herself staring at a wall that looked vaguely familiar - she thought it might be a wall she passed only a few moments ago to be truthful, as walls go it wasn't anything special and it could have been any wall in the temple but Ubora was almost certain that she'd wound up going in a circle somehow and was now completely lost.
Yes that crack there definitely looked familiar, she was almost certainly lost and sighing slightly she sat down to glance first one way down the hallway and then the other. 'Oh bother..." She exhaled with slight irritation as both sides looked exactly the same.
The trouble with being relatively new to the Pride was that she was yet unfamiliar with all the nooks and crannies in the Temple...and while she thought she'd followed the directions given to her by one of the priests..it was apparent that she'd taken a wrong turn somewhere along the way. There wasn't much to be done about it she supposed but try to make her way back to where she'd started and try again...if she could find her way back that was.

Siad hummed to himself as he padded down the familiar corridor, his mind on the heavens, and the lesson for tomorrow with some of the older cubs. He was looking forward to night fall, according to his calculations, The Soul of Osiris (Orin) should have a celestial body lighting through it sometime tonight or tomorrow night, and he intended to be out to enjoy the show. That is of course if he managed to get the lesson set for his morning class before the sun set.
The large male, frowned a little in concentration, trying to decide if it was best to tell them the story of Osiris and Isis first, before he began on the Myth Cycle of Horus and Set. As older cubs, they should already knew the most fundamental of beliefs, but still, sometimes a little review could actually be good. Maybe he could make a game of it.
Still contemplating this great dilemma, he didn't see the earth colored lioness until he was almost on top of her. Realizing he had just about run her over, he offered an apologetic smile, " Please forgive my rudeness, I am afraid my mind was not where my paws were."

Ubora herself wasn't really paying much attention to where she was at the moment, her mind was pondering instead where she wanted to be and her eyes were busy looking down the opposite side of the hall. She was as startled by the arrival of another lion as he seemed to be upon finding her.
"No apologies necessary" She assured the dark lion "It seems I wasn't paying proper attention to my surroundings myself" She told him with a slight chuckle. She was of course glad to see him, asking another for directions was certainly a better plan then wandering aimlessly for a while longer until she happened to get lucky and stumble upon the way out. "Perhaps you can help me though? I'm ather new to the pride and while I was certain I followed the directions I was given I must have taken a wrong turn and I'm afraid I'm now rather lost..." She confessed with a slightly embarrassed tone to her voice.

Siad sat down, his tail coming to curve over his paws as he gave her a friendly smile, " I wouldn't be embarrassed, I've lived here my whole life and I still get lost all the time." The rust maned lion's tone was filled with easy humor that seemed to naturally be part of his demeanor.
"Where were you trying to get to? I can point the way, or take you there if you like. I have plenty of time at the moment, well, at least until sunset anyway, maybe a little after," the large male was charming in an absent-minded- professor way. Almost as an after thought he added, " I'm Siad, I teach the older cubs."

Ubora gave the lion a warm look - he seemed friendly enough and he wasn't the type to tease her about being lost either, a trait which Ubora was glad with - she'd never done all that well with being teased, Apiyo said she was far to competitive and sensitive to handle it well. Sometimes she wished she were as laid back as her mate tended to be. "The temple is beautiful" She told him "But I'm afraid I've yet to learn how to discern one wall from another all the time" She told him with a chuckle.
And if he could point her in the right direction then all the better "I'm in training to be a Priestess" She told him "One of the priests told me that a wall in this area showed a story about Tefnut - it is one of the more obscure stories but I was hoping to see it"

Siad beamed, he knew exactly which wall she was speaking of, though she wasn't any where near it. " Ah, well you are a little turned around, but no fear, we will get there presently."
He began to walk opposite the way she came, turning to the left down a slightly dusty passage, " Tefnut, Goddess of Rain and Moisture, twin and wife of the God of Air, Su. She is one of the nine Ennead, and mother to the Earth God Geb and Sky Goddess Nut," the large lion rattled off, like a professor to a student, " I do believe that is the quick version of the Goddess, the relative facts anyway."
Siad chuckled, and made right at another junction, " Of course there are several stories about her, but I think the one you are looking for is the one where she left Egypt to reside in Nubia and the baboon Torth was sent to look for her..."
He rambled on, clearly delighted with the subject as he twisted her through the Temple, taking a few more lefts and then a right.

Oh well thank the gods someone knew where they were going! Ubora thought to herself - why if it had been up to her she had a feeling she'd have been wandering about until it was dark - and then Apiyo would be worried and come looking for her and since they were both new with her luck he'd end up lost as well.
Her fears of what could have been were well placed as the other lion led her a goodly distance from where she had been before - there was no way she would have found it on her own and she couldn't quite fathom how she'd managed to get so turned around, why he was probably having a good mental laugh at her right no - though in all honesty he didn't seem like the type to do so. "That is she" Ubora confirmed with a pleased tone and a warm look "And that is precisely the story I am looking for" She confirmed "you sound like a lion who has spent allot of time telling such tales to others, the Priests and Priestess' gave me a brief rundown along with their instructions...but perhaps you can elaborate further?" She questioned eagerly, Ubora might be new to the pride but she truly wished to be the best that she could be in her new position and that meant learning more then just the main, more common stories.
Of course she didn't want him to feel like he had to stick around either, that would just be rude when he'd already gone out of his way to lead her here."Of course if you have someplace else to be..I don't want to keep you"

Siad smiled at her with a good nature, " I do not mind, it is what I do. I teach the older cubs the lore and myth of our people. I am..as one would say..a great store of useless information." He gave a warm chuckle, clearly pleased with his lot in life.
" Now what you have to remember is that Tefnut is a very strong minded goddess and she became angered at her father Ra and so she left to Nubia, taking all the moisture and water with her. It is there she became a lioness and learned to hunt and live as us..."
Siad chatted away, his tail held high as he lead her down the final corridor where she would find the wall she was seeking.

"Nonsense" Ubora declared with a confident shake of her head "Such information is of utmost importance, how else will the children learn how to behave and what to do if not for learning such things? Myths and Lore are mostly stories it is true but above and beyond being the history of our gods and people they generally have a lesson within them as well, and the young do seem to respond to such lessons far more readily then they do simple words from their parents" Ubora told the other lion decisively why - teaching the young was a grand and important thing. There was nothing useless about the Lion beside her at all - though he seemed pleased with his position she did not want him thinking that she thought his knowledge useless.
She listened to his words about the story of Tefnut - she did so sound like a rebellious teen in this story so far but Ubora supposed that even gods and goddesses went through such phases in their youth "I expect that Ra was quite upset with her for this?"

Siad laughed, the sound warm and friendly, " Upset? Yes you could say that he was. He missed his daughter, and the water she brought. So he sent Thoth, his most elegant messenger to bring her back, he took Shu with him and the two traveled as baboons. Upon finding her, Thoth asked her to come back, yet she refused...do you know why?"
The rusty colored lion turned to look at his companion as he stopped in front of a wall that depicted a lioness and baboon seemingly speaking to one another, the baboon up on his hind legs, apparently gesturing to a fresh kill under the lionesses' paws.

Ubora was still pondering the possible answer as they stopped in front of the pictured wall - it was quite wonderfully done - even faded by the ages Ubora could see many details in the working that drew her fancy - whomever had created the wall had certainly took great care in depicting everything just so and although it was old she could tell it would remain for many more generations to come.
Tearing her gaze from the wall she turned her attention back to the warm lion beside her "Perhaps she liked the independence she found being on her own?" She half answered half asked Siad "Thank you for showing me this - it is more wonderful then I expected" She told him honestly. Siad seemed to be a good teacher - and a nice lion and with a fleeting though she wondered if perhaps he would end up teaching her and Apiyo's cubs someday when they had them. they would be lucky and well schooled cubs if he did,, she was sure of it.

Siad gifted her with a brillent smile, a pleased look in his eyes, " That's right! She loved the hunt and the freedom, so she had no desire to return to Ra's side. However, Thoth had been given a task, and he would not fail at it. He used every bit of his skill at speaking to convince her to come home, spinning tales of the suffering in Egypt. Finally she relented, moved to tears by the baboon's tales of woe and she returned with him," the Scribe chuckled, " She even allowed him to ride on her back all the way home."
He looked up at the history of their people written on the stone and smiled again, " It's all right here. You can read it at your leisure now. " He waved a paw at her, " None of that, no thanks needed. We're a Pride, it was my sincere pleasure to help you. Is there anything else I may do for you?"

Ubora was pleased that she had gotten the answer right, it was one of her many faults that - the desire to always be right and while she tried not to let it over take her she couldn't quite suppress the pleased feeling she got when she was right. She supposed there was nothing wrong with that - as long as she didn't allow it to turn her into some sort of over competitive monster. Glancing at the wall once more she studied it for a moment before turning back to Siad with a smile "No thank you - you've done quite allot already and I don't wish to keep you from your own plans any further. I think I'll stay here for a while and look the wall over"
And she was pretty sure - since she had payed attention while he lead them here that she could find her way out again without too much troubles, she rather hoped she could remember the way back as well - she'd like to Show Apiyo this old wall someday.

Siad nodded to her, and gave her on last friendly smile, " It was my pleasure. If you need anything, or wish to know more about any of the walls here, come find me. I am usually fairly easy to find."
Giving her a wave of her tail, Siad slipped off, his mind back on the meteor shower and the show it should put on tonight.
