The night was cold and bare of wind. The graveyard was the last place a soquili would be caught in, but this had done nothing for the wind serpent. Her blood red eyes watched the crows and spiders on the trees. Her long reptilian tail swished behind her as her wings rested in their proper place. She hissed lightly as she used her tongue to taste the air of any scent. Nothing... As usual. She traveled the lands, but had not found any food for a little while. Growling at a crow, causing it to fly off into the star lit sky.

A rat noticing her dark presence scurried fearfully into the bushes to the side of the path, its little body racked with shivers. A small grin spread over the filly’s face at the sight. There had always been something about her, as though fear itself seeped from her very pores. This thought caused the smile upon her maw to fade into a conflicted grin. Though her family seemed to love her well enough each of them had their own little tells which spoke of perhaps another emotion behind their eyes. Amelia had never met her father for he had taken off when she and her sister were still within the wicker but she often heard she resembled him the most. Her mother would tell of his pure heart and his kindness toward her but the part she left out was the monstrous appearance. Though her mother always told her she was not a monster and she definitely was nothing evil she had a hard time believing it when even her family got the chills around her. Even now she was making her way to the graveyard she so enjoyed, unbeknownst to her it was the graveyard her father once dwelled in.
Her thoughts were interrupted as she crested the hill and noticed something rather odd off in the distance. Stepping through the gateway into the land of the dead two-legers she approached the figure quietly. It wasn’t often she ran into others in the graveyard for not many Soquili enjoyed the atmosphere as much as she did. She knew she had Angeni blood flowing through her veins but she couldn’t deny there was something else there as well, something a little darker.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrowl..." The wind serpent gave off as she noticed the rather small foal in the graveyard. Her tail swished irritably then stomped on a skull that was from a two-legger. She noticed the angeni wings, but the bone hooves were what caught her attention. The young one had glowing eyes as well, but she only glared at the little one. "Speak thy name and know your place..." Speaking harshly as she growled at the trespasser. She didn't wish to be bothered by someone who was only out of the basket for a short while.

The filly drew to a stop when the distance between them grew much shorter and she heard a growl emit from what looked to be some sort of scaled Soquili with strange wings. “Amelia.” She responded with confidence. Though she was fearful of this unknown being she also felt a strange pull to it, for it seemed to share the same darkness she had running through her. Shaking her head she attempted to give more into the fear than the similarity, she was not a monster; her mother had told her repeatedly. “My place?” She asked rather hesitantly. What exactly did this creature mean by that? She was in a cemetery but that almost seemed too simple an answer. “I don’t know my place.” She would come to find eventually that those words were true in more ways than just one.

"I'm know as Fyglia and my place is to keep the evil beings abound in these lands..." Speaking bluntly as she meerly watched the foal. She could feel the dark presence as well, but paid no mind to it. "Far from home, are we?" Asking as she knew that the foal didn't belong alone or she could end up as someone's kill. She crushed more bones and rocks from under her hooves. She enjoyed the sound of something being broken from her strength.

This mare before her must have been a Kalona derivative, she hadn’t ever seen one but her grandfather often spoke of them. Alexiel had made it a point to hunt all things evil and he often lectured Amelia about what evil was exactly, as though giving her a slight warning. Though it almost seemed inappropriate she couldn’t keep the words from slipping from her mouth. “Pleasure to meet you.” Was it really? She knew if this mare so desired she could crush her more easily than she were crushing the bones beneath her hooves now. Shivers of fear tingled up and down her spine but so did a sort of attraction to this side of life. Before her she was aware of power and strength but also a looming darkness of the likes she could not describe. “Yes…but…this feels like home too…” She admitted outright. The graveyard often gave her a sense of security and a home-like feeling. One away from the prying eyes of others and away from her family’s uncomfortable glances. “How about you Fyglia?” She enquired boldly.

Fyglia was confused by how this young foal was so bold around her. This made her crest of feathers ruffle in anger. "I travel where I wish. Finding my next meal or a stallion to spread the wind serpent bloodline..." She hissed as her tail swished in irritation. She raised an eye brow when Amelia spoke of this place being like a home to her. "Well you are pretty hideous and find that this place to be home. You must have some evil running through your veins if you believe that..." Speaking bluntly with a crooked smile at her.

She flinched as the mare flicked her long dangerous looking tail, knowing she had somehow irked her. Though she did fear Fyglia she couldn’t bring herself to wish to run away or cower down before her. Her mother had always told her that her father was not evil but there were qualities about him that could deem him so. Were these qualities stronger in her? Her glowing eyes looked to the ground as the mare spoke of her traveling. “Y-you mean kids?” She asked quietly. Did this mare love her children as her mother loved her? Or were they more a matter of convenience? She sucked in a breath as the mare called her hideous. Now she was off her guard, her mind unable to think before speaking. “M-my mother says I am beautiful and that I have no evil in me at all.” She all but squeaked while taking a few steps backwards. “She has Angeni blood and is as beautiful as they come…she must know then…”

Fyglia gave off a wicked laugh as she gave a crooked smile to the young foal. "Your mother only speaks lies... You are a monster like I!" She spoke with such pleasure in seeing Amelia. Her wings stretched out with joy and gave off a shrill. "Yes... children, but I prefer to call them offspring since I have no intention of raising them after they have learned to kill and be what I mold them into." She laughed then silenced it into a chuckle. She circled around the filly with her eyes watching and waiting. "Your mother must be blind to see that your legs are bare to the bone and your eyes glow like mine. Only someone of evil blood can have those traits!" she hissed lightly.

Amelia winced at the sharp words, part of her knowing them to be true. She didn’t know whether or not her mother was lying per say but she sometimes had the feeling her mother tried to soothe her whenever she spoke on her odd appearance. Most of her family was somewhat natural looking but she stuck out like a sore hoof. She took a couple of steps back when the mention of raising her offspring to kill. She had once killed a rat and ate it, before really knowing it wasn’t what normal soquili ate. Is this what Fyglia meant by killing? “Like…you…” She spoke hesitantly, the words dropping from her mouth like a brick. “Monster….” Her eyes fell to the ground and she stared down at the pile of bones Fyglia had been crushing. “What do I do? If I am a monster?”

Fyglia's smile turned into a frown. "I shant tell you what to do, but only what's in your heart will tell you what is to be done. We are different, you and I. I prefer to kill for it is what my heart tells me... What does your's say to you, young one." She spoke bluntly as her wing poked at the foal's chest. She could careless if the child went on to kill or to be good like it's angeni mother. She looked towards a small rat, snatching it up in one bite. Eating it whole before coughing up some bones.

Amelia listened closely to the frighteningly beautiful mare, taking in what she had said. The enormous wing poking into her chest caused her to exhale loudly and fumble a tiny step backwards. Her eyes went to the ground as though searching for answers within the earth. Her eyes caught the flames licking wildly at her legs and she stared for a moment, attempting to hear what exactly it was saying over its noisy and rapid beating. Looking up she made eye contact with Fyglia, a foal lost and looking for answers. “I don’t know what my heart wants but…sometimes my belly craves the meat of small animals…does that make me a killer like you?” A pang of hunger rumbling in her stomach as she watched Fyglia bolt the rat down as though it were natural.

Fyglia used her tail to pick up the foal's head by her chin. "Sometimes? Then you must of not be a complete killer... Only those who thrive on the flesh of others are true killers of these lands." She said to her with the same crooked smile. Her tail moved away from the foal then back to it's rightful place. She took hold of another stray rat, killing it, but tossed it to Amelia. "Only in due time will your heart ring out it's true calling to you... That's how it was for me when I found my first suitor..." she hissed as she thought about the skinwalker-kalona, Megapi.

She felt the scales of Fyglia’s tail beneath her chin as her eyes were lifted so they were square with the Wind Serpent mare’s. She felt a slight comfort in what she was saying about only those who thrive on the flesh of others being truly murderous. Even so, she felt nervous that one day in the future her heart would sing to the tune of murder and bloodshed. “The wait is the worst part…” She mumbled rather nervously. Her thoughts turned to the rat that had fallen at her feet and she bent her head to eat, but hesitated. She didn’t need to hide her like for meat here, Fyglia wouldn’t judge her, and she wouldn’t frighten anyone. With those thoughts in her mind she took a bite before looking up at Fyglia once again. “D-did you love him?” She asked innocently.

"I don't love another unless it be my offspring who would bring me great honor to the wind serpent bloodline. Love is a strong word to use and us of monstrous heart use it rarely. We both had something in common and are staying together until that agreement has been fulfilled." Explaining as she watched the foal eat the rat that was left for her. Her ears moved towards a crow that was 'laughing' at them as more began to show. "Waiting brings out one's true nature and desires... Perhaps when you grow of age you shall see me once again to answer my question." She hissed with her crooked smile as her fangs shown in the nightlight.
