I must be from the only school on the planet that teaches masu-to-te before plain-to-te. It doesn't really make a difference... if you understand verbs, you'll see that the two styles of converting are just about interchangeable.
... and bonus points if you can tell me why the girl in the second video is waving a giant leek around.
