Okay, Ive been saving to buy a new guitar for a bit now ( ill get in a couple of years I think) anyways I really love the look of the Les Paul standards and with a 500 dollar budget the epiphone Led Paul standard seems perfect, but since there are very few on Puerto Rico I need some help ( Ive only played one..once) anyways, I need to know if the higher frets are comfy enough to play and how heavy it is compared to an Ibanez Grx40 (the starter pack guitar)

They're definately much heavier than the ibanez. The ibanez uis what, basswood? alder maybe? yeah, solid mahogany and maple 2 inches thick is much heavier than that. From my experience the upper frets are just fine to reach.

Ive played a Les Paul Supreme (Gibson) which is one of the few I liked. If your goin for an Epiphone then try it and see if you like it. The only Epiphone I liked was the Zakk Wylde.

My Epi seems to play alright. I think it's a matter of getting one that you can modify a bit. I've played around a lot with the action till I could get it just right, and then I played with the pickups. You're going to find that if you get one of the LP standards, it won't be long before you'll notice the pickups squealing out of an amplifier(not a good or pleasant sound).
If you want a humble opinion, get an epiphone Elitist models. Everything from the tuners down is Gibson, and they play really really really nice. I would compare it to a les paul studio, except a bit larger and cleaner playing.

Here's the official link: http://www.epiphone.com/elitist/standardplus.htm
and there's one of the studios at music 123: http://www.music123.com/Epiphone-Elitist-Les-Paul-Studio-i112664.music

defenatly, I tried the ZW and it was kick a**, and those EMG HZ's are good, very nice guitar in my opinion. a little off topic, have you guys tried the Les Paul Jr.?, that has such a nice son to be the cheapest guitar they have. its very good specially for begginers with not alot of cash. But you can maybe check out one of the customs, and musicians friend just had a black one with two EMG81 pickups for 599.99 i thin it was. but the're gone. they also have one with three pickups for the same price.

I'm think of getting a Les Paul, but I'm not sure of what one I should go for. I am condisering the Gibson Les Paul Studio, which is on the pricey side of things, or maybe the elitist standard, but that is really hard to find here in the UK meaning I would have to mail order, and not be able to try it out. Or I could go for the standard Epiphone LP standard and modify it. Which should I go for?

You may aswell go for the custom, if you're gonna modify.

I wish I could get an elitist but I cant, in the end If I get a Les paul standard from epiphone im going to change the pickups ( Gibson burstbucker pro and classic 57 plus), cause honestly I cant pay 1000 dollars for a guitar, 500 is really my limit

Well, with an elitist, you'll wind up with better quality hardware that won't fail you in the long run. The Epi I've got is in dire need of tuner and electronics replacement, and it's gone through a bridge already.

if you're going to swap out the pickups, why not have them in there in the first place? (unless you want duncan, emg or other replacements)

Well, how are you making the money in the first place? Is it a constant job?

I don't really like Les Pauls, but their up-side is their versatility for the kinds of music you can play with them, I suppose.
