Ominos didn't know how much longer he'd be able to fly. His wings were fast losing strength, the warm blood flowing down his side doing more than just spoiling his fur. His head was starting to cloud, and the remaining light from beyond the clouds was brighter than the clear sun ever was to his sensitive eyes. Everything was brighter, fuzzier, stranger. And his insides ached with agony at each wing flap, for the expanse of his large wing beat against the end of the stick that was stuck in his side. He had wanted to return to Demon, faithful that his commander would find a way to heal him. But he knew he wouldn't make it back in time, and could only hope that an opportunity would present itself soon.

He tried to scan the land below for a unicorn, or a Soquili of healing blood. But his failing eyesight offered him nothing but shadowy images of trees and rocks, grass and streams. He had to fly further, to find someone who he could force to heal him. But he was losing altitude, and each flap of his wings came slower than the last.

Finally, his sides heaving, breath coming hard in his injured lung, he shot towards the earth, not caring where he would land. All he wanted was for the pain to be gone, for that damn stick to fall out of his skin! Even if he had to die, it'd be better than the helpless position he was in.

The impact was hard--he couldn't see exactly where he was going, and crashed into the boughs of a medium-sized tree, ripping a few branches from it's trunk as he crashed to the ground. He landed hard on grassy ground, dust rising from about his body as he disturbed the foliage. He thrashed his wings, trying to free himself from the leafy branches, then simply lay still, trying to regain his strength. Thankfully, the stick hadn't slid any further into his side when he landed. But he was still in pain, and still in need of healing.

Ha, what luck he was having! The thought brought sudden anger into his heart, and despite his agony, he ripped free from the branches, standing on shaky legs. He lifted his head towards the canopy, eyes burning with rage and pain. "DAMN YOU!!!" he shouted, to no one in particular, but perhaps the stick in his side.

This morning Avia awoke to her own devices. With out Kesha here for any training, besides what she did daily, she was free for perhaps until tomorrow. She'd spent her morning already exercising her legs and wings. She sparred with an innocent tree, which she succeeded in cutting several chunks from. Yes, very productive she thought.

It was becoming hotter, the sun already past its mid-point in the sky though it was still quite some time before dark. She was doing nothing in particular when a male's voice broke through her clouds of thought. She'd just landed finished bathing in a pond when the sound carried her way. A fight mayhaps? Very intrigued, Avia began a trot in the direction the noise came from. She always loved watching a good battle. It was a way of learning as she saw it. Sometimes even better than doing it herself. She'd never been able to beat Kesha, and she was pretty sure her mentor had never used her full abilities on her.

That thought sent a tendril of anger through her, feeding her want to learn and grow as much as possible like Keshani. She picked up her pace until she saw a figure ahead, wobbling slightly, staring into the sky. Gasping quietly, she saw it was a male some what like Keshani! The only differences were his wings, and size. And... his pelt. It seemed to shine like.. not fur at his back. Or his throat and chest.

"How... interesting..." she whispered allowed, making sure to obscure her body as much as possible. It was fairly difficult to hide white pelt in green trees but if he wasn't looking around him too closely, she may be able to pull it off.

She immediately began looking for the adversary. He would surely make mince meat out of it, but she spotted no one. Had she missed it?

She had been too transfixed on the sight of the only other kalona she'd ever see to notice the smell of blood for a few moments. When it grazed her nostrils, her eyes widened in search of the source.

Why! It was him! Shocked, she stood silently, observing him thoroughly.

Even though his sight was fuzzy and his legs shaky, Ominos' sense of hearing and smell were still functioning properly. He shut his mouth abruptly, nostrils flaring and head snapping towards the site of a new scent. His neck drooped slightly, his skull seeming a bit too heavy for his muscles. However, he could just barely point out a fuzzy white shape ahead, trying to hide within the shadows of the trees. He breathed in as much as he could, the stick causing pain in his lung, the smell of blood overwhelming--but he knew that he was no longer alone. There was a being watching him there, perhaps contemplating the best motive, just as he was.

He wouldn't be able to fight it off without risking more injury than he already had, and he definitely couldn't run from it. His best action was to scare it, to make it think that he had the upper hand. Which, seeing as he was quite large and angry at the moment, might actually work.

"You! You there!" he growled, swinging his neck upwards, ears flattened. His wings flexed angrily, tail lashing, though his movements seemed sluggish and more silly than threatening. He tried to take a step towards the white shape, but his head spun and he decided to stay where he was.

"Come any closer and I'll rip your throat out!" he threatened, brandishing his sharp teeth. Then a strange notion hit him: what if this being was one who could heal? Or at least pull the stick from his side? He had already made a fool of himself, perhaps scared them too much. But maybe it was worth a try... he was in no shape to go searching for anyone else, and this may be his last chance.

"Wait..." he said, his voice a little more reserved. "Forget that. I did not mean it..." His deep voice was gravely, strained, as if he couldn't stand speaking the kinder words. But he stilled his appendages, attempting to look less threatening. "Instead, I'll make a deal with you... come here, let me see you..."

Her ears flattened at first, in a startled sort way then quickly perked again. He had noticed her, but she didn't feel that since of danger anymore. He was obviously injured, and if she watched herself carefully, she was in no danger, from him at least. Hopefully no one else showed up.

Her stomach ached longingly to approach him and admire his wings, horns, scales, everything, but common sense immediately told her definitely not. She steeled herself against her wants and pleasures and made her voice stern and strong. "Deals are never even." She said cooly, her expression relaxing into a studying glower that Kesha did so often.

Her tail flicked as she built her courage inside her, rummaging up the vision of her mother. That weak, pathetic mare, how she would be dead at this moment had Kesha decided to confront... those thoughts made her want to be better than that wretch, and never let the genes that she passed on let anyone think less of herself.

Her voice was louder, and little mean. "But wait... Doesn't my throat sound delicious? Flesh tearing is truly something, don't you think so? Well I think so." She began to circle, as quietly as she could. She was still young but definitely skilled. Kesha even sometimes had trouble hearing her approach now, and that mare was amazing. Her goal was to studying him as long as possible, then hear him out once she was satisfied. She just couldn't resist the opportunity.
