Jasa stared at Ruku. He was fussing with his clothing. Yet again. She began to think he was going to be worse than a girl. A giggle slipped free as she watched him. Her teeth tugged her lower lip as she continued to snicker and gaze at him. It was funny. When he had asked her for clothing, she had simply stared at him blankly. She had begun to laugh, but then she realized he was serious and had choked off her amusement. He did not appreciate

In the end, she went digging in some old boxes for clothing that might fit him. The bomber style jacket was one of the things he had liked. He had even asked her where she had gotten it. It was the fashion when she was younger, but in the end she had restyled it to suit his taste. Now he was looking at his hair.

She giggled again, receiving another glare from her. "Are you ready to go yet?" she asked in amusement. "We are only taking a walk."

Rukurai turned to stare at her, his eyes narrowing in frustration. he sent towards her, then very diliberately turned his head away from her.

"That's a switch." she smirked. "Usually it is you who are being a brat."

A growl slipped free as he finally turned, saying, He watched her sideways, eyes more than a little annoyed as he moved at her side. Instead of waiting for her to open the door, he slid through the wall. Gliding down the stairs, Ruku did not wait on her as she locked the door behind them. Sulkily, Ruku waited impatiently as she came down the steps.

As she reached the bottom step, Jasa said apologetically, "You look very nice, Ruku." She watched him as he pouted. That only made her amusement more intense, but now she was careful not to show it. He looked much like his stone had. Mostly orange, yellow, and gold in tone. There were a few bits of brown and red here and there that made one want to see if there were more. Of course, that was if he would stand still long enough for more than a moment so he could be scrutinized.

Jasa thought the most interesting portion of him though was the feathers in his hair. It reminded her of those anti-hero types in the video games. He would have been annoyed at that description and again she was carefully not letting her amusement show. Finally lips twitching the girl turned her attention to the area around them as they continued moving forwards. It was a brisk day though the day before had been warm enough to need only a light jacket.

"Not too cold are you, Ruku?" she asked. "We don't have to stay out too long. We could just go to the lunch counter and grab something to warm up before we walk back home again."

It was one of Amon’s days off, which meant – especially lately, ever since the odd pair of guardian and fiend had moved from downtown to the very outskirts of Dürem – they were out and about to do some necessary (and not so necessary) shopping. Amon had been living smack dab in the city center for years, and that he couldn’t just go out for a 5 minutes walk to pick up some cigarettes or fast food was still taking some getting used to. Especially as he loathed driving – well, he certainly was getting more practice now. And he’d definitely learned his lesson to buy his cigarettes by the carton instead of single packs.

Nephrite was following him about, the young fiend looking slightly disgruntled which especially manifested in her slightly crinkled tail. She haaaaaated having to go out in broad daylight, hated it with burning passion, and Amon had woken her up from a very comfortable nap for this, which made it even worse. But, she was getting gifts and shiny little things out of this (she already had gotten two new gowns, and six new hair sticks, and five shawls, and scented floating candles which looked like tiny lotuses, and an assortment of incense sticks), and – much more importantly – her guardian had promised her they’d home in on a hardware store to look into what it’d take to fix up that slightly battered greenhouse their new abode had come with, and for gardening supplies in general. This soothed her grumpiness, for the most part.

‘Wheeeeeeeeeeeeen,’ Nephrite inquired, ‘will we be going to the hardware store?’ Yesterday had been amazingly warm, and – while she loathed the bright light of the sun – she knew it was good for plants. She was eager to fix up the overgrown and much neglected garden their New House had come with, and to plant and grow things.

“Once I’ve had something to eat,” Amon notified her. Breakfast had been rather brief, and his stomach had been rumbling to complain at him for a while now. “Hold this,” he said, spotting one of his favorite Chinese takeouts in the distance (one of the few in between NOT catering to the Western palate – which usually meant being too bland in taste and using too much salt), and dumping most of the bags he was carrying into Nephrite’s arms. Most of this was her stuff anyway, so she could carry it while he was getting some food, he figured.

< I am not cold. > he muttered as he continued moving forwards. His eyes narrowed at her to see if she were amused at him again. His tail twitched now and then leaving a few darker markings as he moved or even a small puff of what might have been smoke. Both passed unnoticed by the fiend and his guardian as they continued walking forwards.

Ruku had thought long on this, well it was long to him. He had spent nearly half a day thinking about it yesterday. Now it was just thinking about how to tell her. His annoyance at her did not help and he was tempted to sulk the rest of the day. Instead he thought about his plans. They included her but only because he needed her to do everything. At least most of it.

Jasa glanced around her as they moved. The sun was bright enough but it did not seem to be warming up much. Here and there she could see the beginning green of plants coming up from the ground, peeking out at the world around them. Her lips twitched as she noted a dog digging up a flowerbed in the yard as they walked by. That was why she did not have a pet. She glanced over at Ruku. Well, he could not exactly be considered one. She had thought of him as one until he had suddenly changed. Now she thought of him as a little boy.

Strange how her life had changed in just a year.

He watched her a long moment and then he stated, < I want my own room, Jasa. I don't like sleeping in the living room.> His tail twitched nervously as he glanced away from her quickly. Reaching up, he rubbed the edge of his ear.

"Your own room?" she repeated, stopping suddenly to stare at him. She said nothing more but he sort of glanced away and then back at her. Her lips curved upwards. "I think that is a good idea, Rukurai. What kind of room do you want? We could move my craft stuff and make it into your room. You would have that big window."

He brightened quickly as he watched her. It even distracted him from his early annoyance at her amusement. < Something.... like the greenhouse. I mean... I want it warm and lots of plants. A jungle. > he finally pronounced happily. < Yes, a jungle. With lots of red flowers and a waterfall and... >

"Whoa... " she laughed. "First things first I guess. Let's stop at the store after we grab some hot tea and lunch. Then we will look at the books and see what we can come up with. If we draw up the plans then it will be better. Although I will tell you, that if you are going tropical, then books on shelves in your room won't work. The pages will get soggy, so we might have to get a bookcase for the other room for books and such."

he replied excitedly. < When can we start on it? I mean after we have the plans made. I want lots of big plants too. Like at the greenhouse. >

"Let's stop in here first." she said indicating the small store at the corner. It was across from the restaurant she planned to eat lunch at. "We can grab a tablet and scribble some notes while we are eating. Okay?"

He nodded emphatically and if he had a mouth, Ruku would have been grinning from ear to ear. This day was turning out well inspite of her annoying amusement, the cold, and the bright light. His tail thumped almost happily leaving a solid black line behind him for a moment and an even darker puff of smoke. Neither noticed.

Nephrite pierced her guardian’s back with angry glares as she followed after him slowly, considerably weighed down by the bags which … well, contained her stuff. This was infuriating, since because of this she couldn’t even complain at him! So she did her best to radiate crankiness and boredom while she waited for Amon to get his meal already, idly looking at the display windows here and there for something she might want to have.

“That’ll only result in even more and heavier bags,” Amon pointed out. It was rare for him to catch onto her thoughts, but occasionally stuff … seeped through of sorts, due to their bond. Most of the time, though, it happened the other way around. It was annoying.

Nephrite creased her delicate brows, trying to think up something witty as a reply, but then she spotted something on the opposite side of the street which caught her attention. Oh hey, wasn’t that …? ‘Amon! She said excitedly, pointing with her tail as her hands were still occupied. But she was not going to set down the bags, as they contained her stuff and the ground was dirty! ‘I’m going to take a look,’ she announced, already on her way.

“Sure, do that.” Amon shrugged. She was going to anyway, whether he actually gave his permission or not.

Nephrite carefully navigated her way across the street, her usually elegant and ethereal way of moving impacted considerably by the bags she was carrying. She could sense her guardian’s amusement, but was – for now – trying to ignore it. She wanted to meet that other fiend! And-

Nephrite’s gray eyes widened, and she hurried to catch up with the unknown shadow. ‘Excusemehello?’ She said. There was a distinct sense that, had she been human, she’d be out of breath. ‘I think you are on fire?’ She pointed at Ruku's tail with her own, but was careful to keep her distance. She'd been on fire once, and it was not an experience she wanted to repeat ever again.

Jasa blinked, turning around to glance behind them. Her cerulean eyes looked almost perfect turquoise in the light. "On fire?" she asked looking down and around her.

Ruku raised an eyebrow, but glanced immediately at his tail. The appendage barely twitched and it would have been missed if attention was not paid. He wanted to smirk, but he had no mouth like she did. He had been noticing things like that since he had changed, but there had not been time to attempt to control it. Although if he got angry enough, he could get a large puff of smoke, but it disappeared quickly.

< Not fire. > he stated, glancing sideways at Jasa. < Just smoke. > Then < And sometimes... soot... > There was a black line that trailed behind him and amusement slid through him quickly. That was really the most solid line he had gotten yet. What was he doing? A few thoughts slipped past and then he knew He had been really excited about the room.

Jasa stared at him and then his tail. "Why didn't you tell me?" Her eyes narrowed as she watched him.

< Can't do it all the time. > he smirked. < Not. Yet. > Rukurai watched both Nephrite and Jasa in extreme amusement. The other fiend had spoiled it by revealing what Jasa had not known. Oh well, she'd have caught on sooner or later. It was just sooner.

She growled under her breath, shoving her hair back from her face. There was always a few strands that had to slip free of the loose braid. "So it was you messing with the icemakers all this time."

< I don't like cold. You should know that by now, Jasa. > Ruku's eyes were extremely amused and twinkled merrily. < No more than I can stand Trivii's ice pixies. > It was then he noted Amon. He blinked then tilted his head to get a better look at the man. < Cool patch. Are you a pirate or something? >
PostPosted: Mon Mar 28, 2011 12:17 am

Nephrite nodded, still looking at the other fiend’s tail with utter fascination. It sort of reminded her of her incense sticks. ‘Doesn’t it hurt?’ She asked, eyes wide.

When Amon joined them, Nephrite promptly held out her bags for him with a hopeful look, expecting he’d take them back now. But, no luck. ‘Greasy, smelly fast food,’ he pointed out to her, rising the small plastic bag from the takeout. ‘I don’t think you want your silks to be anywhere near that?’

He was entirely right, of course, much to her chagrin. Her tail to twitched with annoyance, but there was nothing she could do about her predicament right now.

“Yeah. Right. A pirate of love,” Amon replied to Ruku’s innocent inquiry and waggled his eyebrows, secretly amused about the joke none of the kids were going to get anyway. He liked the little red fiend almost instantly. “Actually, I’m not. Lost my eye in a freak accident some years ago. Sorry to be so boring, young man.” It wasn’t the truth, of course, but a story which was easily accepted and generally worked well to make people shut up about the patch.

“Hey,” he said good-naturedly to Jasa, offering his free hand in a greeting. “You must be this one’s …” He hesitated, sort of tempted to say ‘victim’, but then settled for the usual: “... guardian? I’m Amon Silverchair, this fine young somewhat disgruntled looking lady here is Nephrite.”

Nephrite would have made her customary bow, only, with all those bags it wasn’t quite possible, so she settled to incline her head as gracefully and elegantly as possible. ‘Hello~!’ She could clearly sense her bond’s amusement at her situation, so she continued to stab him with glares. She’d get back at him for this, that was for certain.

< Nah. Doesn't hurt. I like the warmth but I can't seem to do it all the time. Yet.> he emphasized that there was a chance he might do so one day. < Skin sizzles sometimes but I think... this coat is okay. Doesn't seem to burn like that other thing I tried on... Ooops... > he hesitated glancing at Jasa sideways, then shrugged definitely amused again. What could she do about it? It happened the other day and the shirt was ashes now. He had carefully contained it and not burned down the house.

"What?!" Jasa growled. "You burned up something? In the apartment?! Ruku..." What could she do? Fireproof her entire house? She might have to think on that. See if Mr. Durmand would let her put in a sprinkler system. That could get expensive but a good douse of cold water might be good for her little fiend.

Turning her attention to Amon as he introduced himself. Taking his hand, she nodded. "I'm Jasamine Du Lac or Jasa to most people. This troublemaker is Fire Opal better known as Rukurai or Ruku... It's nice to meet you both." She watched Amon a moment and then said, "Ruku just changed a few days ago. I barely had an idea of what he was from a friend of mine, but I haven't made it to the shop yet to talk to anyone about him. On my list of things to do after I replace my icemaker yet again. "

< You always have too many things to do. What is important is getting my jungle done and put lots of plants in it. And as I said before, I don't like cold stuffs .> Ruku stated as he glanced up at Amon in some amusement. The air conditioner was going to go too but Jasa didn't need to know that yet. It was a surprise he planned for her. Then he was decided. He liked this man. < Too bad. You'd make a good pirate I think. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum and all that stuff. I mean what could be cooler than swords and ships and... Hmm... I might have to make myself a patch. It would be cool and I could be a pirate in the jungle looking for treasure. >

He turned his gaze to Jasa. < When she gets my jungle done.... >

"I think I need to stop letting you read those books." Jasa sighed. Glancing down at Nephrite, she asked, "Aren't those alot of packages? I hope you don't have far to go."

Amon and Nephrite exchanged glances, with Nephrite meaningfully quirking a brow. Things had gone up in flames in their place as well, and it hadn’t been the fiend’s doing, that was for certain. In fact, Nephrite acted very responsible and cautious whenever she’d light her beloved incense or scented candles.

“It’s always a good idea to have a fire extinguisher around at least,” Amon said vaguely. “And have good insurance. It certainly paid off in my case.”

“That is a very nice name, an unusual one as well, ‘Jasamine’. It has a bit of an exotic ring to it. It suits you, in the most positive sense.”

“So,” he added, “you’re fairly new to this, I take it.” He wondered if she had been tricked as well. To his knowledge so far Miss ‘Rainbow Brite’ Miranda seemed to be the only one who’d ever hooked up with a Shadow Fiend because she’d wanted one. “I probably wont be much of a help, but young Neph here hangs out at the shop a lot and knows most everyone there.”

‘I do!’ Nephrite confirmed, eyes bright. After all, more often than not she stayed the whole day there. Or night, depending on when Amon was working. Well, not in the shop, not in that case, but Athan’s house was most interesting. And his library.

“As coincidence would have it, she likes plants as well,” Amon said, indicating Nephrite with a nod. “Though she’s interested in growing herbs rather than a jungle, thank God. Uhm. Would you mind terribly if I'd smoke while I still got my hands free? That stuff in those bags there is all hers, she can carry it for a while.”

‘But it’s heaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavy,’ Nephrite complained. She eyed Ruku for a moment, wondering if she could coerce him into carrying it for her. But … what if he burned it?! She couldn’t risk that.

"I have a fire extinguisher but maybe I should put in a sprinkler system and give him a good dosing of cold water." she smirked as Ruku's eyes narrowed at her. "I've replaced five ice makers now and it had better stop. And yes, new. I found his stone in a flowerpot that a customer's child had broken. When I was repotting it, he just sort of popped out. I wasn't sure what he was at first, but Trivii, another guardian, explained about Nell. At least as much as she knew. We spent christmas together. Her ice pixies and Ruku pretty much battled by turning the heat up and down. I'm still not sure who won. It certainly was not Triv and I."

"My parents have a garden and the night I was born, night blooming jasmine was in season. My father named me after his flowers. I'd say your name is rather unusual also." She smiled. "But I think I'm more a thorn since I go my way and they don't like it. " When he indicated the cigarette, she nodded. "Go ahead. Smoking doesn't bother me. "

"I work in a nursery not far from here. And now is the time to get her herbs started. That way they will offer their best cuttings at the right time. As for Ruku's jungle, well, I'll bring some tropicals home from the greenhouse and put some in his room but the rest are simply getting painted on his walls. Although I did promise a small waterfall with... "

< Warm water. > Ruku interrupted. < It has to be warm so it fits the jungle... > His tail twitched a bit as he thought about the room. He was leaving soot stains on the sidewalk again. < But first we need a tablet and... > He was getting a bit impatient, it was still kind of cold out, this conversation was taking far too long, and it was showing.

When Nephrite stared at him at the mention of her packages being heavy, Ruku blinked watching her. He hoped she wasn't expecting him to carry those for her. Although it would be a good prank to play. He imagined them going up in flames right there on the sidewalk. It would be warming at least.

Then he shook his head. He would really get into trouble for that. Better if he did not do something stupid like that. Regretting that he could not, he turned his attention back to Amon and Jasa.

Jasa laughed. "Just settle down, Ruku. I was going to say goldfish." She watched Amon and Neph a moment. "Have you had lunch yet? I need a tablet from this store but I was going to grab some tea and a quick bite. Why don't you and Neph join us, Amon? It won't take but a minute or two to grab my tablet and I can give you a list of herbs to get for the greenhouse. And maybe give you an idea or two on how to set the place up."
PostPosted: Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:33 am

“Well, in that case,” Amon said, “you might be pleased to hear that Athan – the proprietor of Twilight Designs – claims responsibility for these little buggers and generally compensates for the damage and mayhem they wreak.” He was distinctly aware he’d been lucky with Neph, her being expensive merely in the upkeep. Jasa, it seemed, was one of the more unfortunate guardians.

“It’s sort of a family tradition,” Amon said, upon the matter of his name. “I have a sister named ‘Amaranthe’. Should I ever happen to father a child, I swear it’s going to be a ‘Dave’ or an ‘Emma’ or a ‘Liz’ or a ‘Matt’. Whatever happens to be the most popular and common pick at the time.” He gave a wry grin. Though, it had been his decision to keep that name. It worked well enough in his business.

He lit his cigarette, eying Ruku momentarily before he did so. It was … terribly tempting to try and see if he could light the cigarette on the fiend, but it would also be a very childish thing to do, so he restrained himself.

“My lunch is actually in here,” he said, raising the bag from the Chinese takeout, “but I absolutely don’t mind saving it for later. That’s what microwaves are there for. So, sure, why not. I’ve got plenty of time to spare today.”

‘Herbs start now?’ Nephrite’s eyes widened. ‘Then we need to buy seeeeeeeds!’ She wiggled excitedly, much as it was possible with her load. And this lady knew which ones to get? And how to set it up? Nephrite adored her already.

"Oh really? I guess I should really get in there and talk to him about them then. I keep meaning to..." she laughed, shrugging. "I just have to watch out for his pranks more than anything else."

"If it happens to be a decent name. You could end up with a name worse than you think yours is. I think unusual names give a person something to live up to. " Jasa replied. "Although there's not much to live up to with a flower."

She slipped into the store and bought the tablet quickly. Rukurai barely noticed she was gone as he watched Amon.

< You will have to come see my room when she gets it finished. I told her I wanted lots of plants. > Ruku invited, as he waited outside the door.

"Ready. Let's go get some lunch now. And a list of herbs for Neph first." Jasa stated with a smile.

Ruku blinked. < Why does she get to go first? You are supposed.. >

"Because I said so." Jasa replied as she glanced down at him. "Besides, we can do yours at home. And this will make it easier for Amon to get the things she needs. It will not hurt you to wait for once."

His tail twitched in irritation, leaving soot on the sidewalk. < Fine. Nephrite first. > Then his eyes looked amused as Jasa raised an eyebrow. He would just play a prank on her tonight when she least expected it as revenge.

Her eyes narrowed at Ruku as she turned to Amon, indicating the chinese restaurant behind them. The fiend was plotting something and she could see it all too well as she moved forwards. "How much are you planning to put into Neph's greenhouse? If it is something that is going to be used for awhile, I'd suggest a few things that will make it easier to work in."
PostPosted: Sun Apr 03, 2011 6:19 am

“You definitely should,” Amon confirmed. “Especially as this little guy looks like he’s going to be troublesome – no offense meant. Maybe there’s a way Athan could sort of, you know, fireproof him.”

‘I know a certain someone who could need some fireproofing,’ Nephrite quipped, to her guardian only, and cast a sidewards glance at him. ‘And should talk to Athan about exactly that.’

‘Yeah, yeah. Quit nagging.’ He inhaled the smoke deeply, waiting patiently for Jasa to get her stuff done. She didn’t linger on the matter of names, to his relief. In his opinion it wasn’t very desirable to live up to your name if you happened to be named after a Demon King …

He quirked a brow when Ruku addressed him. Uh, the little dude was talking to him? He’d figured the two fiends might be maybe more interested in each other than their respective guardians. Huh. “Sure, why not,” he said vaguely. “You do realize though, plants and fire don’t go well with each other? You’ll have to be careful around them.”

Nephrite nodded for emphasis. She’d tended to a tiny potted garden on the balcony and learned the hard way that some plants were better placed in the shadows, or else they’d quite literally burn in the summer sun. But now, now! she was going to have a real garden and to do everything right. And Amon was going to help her. And Jasamine too.

Speaking of … She was an amazingly fast shopper, Amon noted, for being a woman. She was back before he’d finished his second cigarette. And she was thorough in not giving in to Ruku’s whims and wishes, he rather liked that.

“In the means of money? That’s not an issue. As for plants … I’ll leave that for Neph to decide. See, we moved only recently, and our ‘new’ house came with quite a bit of a garden, and – yes – a small greenhouse as well. While the house’s been tended to while it was vacant, the garden … not so much. And, I’ll have to admit, I’m not into that kind of stuff and have got no experience whatsoever. The only plants I do well with are cacti. And I’ve managed to get even those killed of.” He finished his second cigarette and flicked it off, finally taking some of the load off Nephrite. “I was thinking of hiring someone, but … Hrm, I figured it might be fun, in a way doing this on my own, even though we might have to move before soon again. Depends. On circumstances.” He shrugged.

Nephrite’s eyes darkened, her little hands clenching into fists around the (very light) bags she was still being made to carry. She knew all too well by now what circumstances her guardian was referring to. Those people in black. Those who gave him his nightmares. Those who’d hurt him when he was a boy and who’d still not leave him be. She wanted to hurt them back so badly.

Amon noticed her darkening mood, but didn’t comment on it. Some things … were best not touched upon, not in the presence of strangers. But it seemed inevitable he’d have to have a long talk with her before long, explaining certain events from his past.

“So far I’ve hosed it down – the greenhouse, I mean – and tried to clean it up as good as possible. Some of the glass panes need replacement, and the whole thing needs to be repainted. I haven’t seen any rust though, so that’s good? And all the movable parts still seem to do fine, apart from being in severe need of greasing.” Most of this, he was simply guessing. He was pretty much a virgin when it came to that whole DIY thing.

"Hmm.. fireproofing.. that is a thought." she watched Rukurai sideways, her eyes amused. That might prevent some of the destruction he was doing. She would have to definitely look up Athan. Mentally Jasa added it to her 'to do' list. Somehow it always seemed to get larger than she had time for. Maybe over the next weekend.

Ruku nodded seriously about the fire and plant comment from Amon. Then he shrugged. < If I learn how to control it.> The latter was said with a great deal of amusement.

"A black thumb, huh?" she teased Amon. "Well, then I guess you will probably end up doing the maintance she needs. If only a few panes need to be fixed, then you may only have to do minor repairs. A table for potting, and shelves that are sturdy can be made simply and roughly. No need to make anything fancy that is going to be covered in dirt and water. You will want to make sure the plumbing works properly and that there is a sink of decent size inside the greenhouse. We have a sprinkler system in the greenhouse where I work that can be adjusted to fine spray and saves on time since it can be set for when there are no customers. You will not have that problem so a hose hookup will do. The most important thing is a temperature regulator that can be used to warm on the cooler days or cool on warmer days. You need to keep an event temperature and one that can be preset to keep it that way will help alot. Some plants can be very touchy on even a one or two degree drop or rise."

They had moved towards the restaurant while talking and as soon as they were seated and had ordered, Jasa pulled out the tablet. She sketched out a couple ideas as she spoke of the potting tables and how to arrange a few things for convenience for Nephrite. She glanced over at the fiend. "What kind of herbs are you wanting exactly? I mean there are cooking herbs, medicinal herbs, and teas. If you are wanting cooking herbs, I would suggest Anise, Apple Mint, Basil, Bay leaves, Cilantro, Dill, Fennel which has a licorice type of flavor, Garlic, Ginger, Nasturtium.. it's actually a flower but it makes a very good salad, Parsley, Rosemary, Sage, and Thyme. Possible some type of mustard also. You can use the greens of some and seeds of others to get what you want for flavor."

She had written out the entire list under the heading 'Cooking Herbs' on the tablet beside the images. Starting a second list, she said, "Now if you want to make your own herbal teas, start with Apple Mint which is good for cooking or teas actually, Catnip is a must. And it's not just because cats like it. If you boil the leaves you get a very good soothing tea and it's good for stomach aches also. Jasmine, the flowers can be added to a green tea base. You can also make a jasmine syrup that is sometimes used in cooking also. Watercress would be a little harder to grow but it's worth it because you need fresh water running over it constantly, but it's worth it if you like a different salad."

"And there are the regular vegetables like tomatoes, onions, corn, beans, peas, and others that you will want in your garden. But all can be started in the green house early. Rhubarb is really sour but it makes the best pies. And horseradish grows well, but you need to make sure that you are careful with it when you grind the root up. It burns like crazy if you rub your eyes or something."

He began to fidget. Jasa was really getting into this again and though he sort of thought it was fascinating, he still wished she'd hurry up so she could start on her room. Finally an idea occurred to him. < Geesh, Jasa, don't write a book. Why don't you just get her a copy of one of your books at home instead? At this rate you will confuse them more than you will help them. >

She suddenly blinked flushing red as she glanced at Amon and Nephrite. "Here I am going on and on and not giving you a chance to talk. I'm sure you will figure some of this out as you look at the list of things I have here."
PostPosted: Sat Apr 09, 2011 10:35 am

Amon smirked a little. The little red fiend didn’t really give off the impression like he'd actually want to learn to control his ability.

‘Reminds me of a certain someone …’ Nephrite remarked, not without sarcasm. That kind of tone from her was … unusual. She was still behaving a child most of the time, but occasionally something else seemed to shine through, and it was happening more frequently lately.

Amon and Nephrite both listened intently to Jasa’s tips and advice, and upon her question they answered simultaneously.

‘Medicinal.’ Nephrite said.

“Cooking.” Amon said, contradicting his statement from just before that he wasn’t interested much, and that he’d let Nephrite do the picks.

The two of them glared at each other.

“Well, I do enjoy cooking a lot …” And, until Jasa had launched into her ramble, it had never occurred to Amon that growing his own herbs and vegetables was a viable alternative to storebought.

‘True ...’ Nephrite agreed reluctantly. ‘Both then,’ she decided, clapping her hands. ‘Medicinal, and for cooking. And tea too. And vegetables.’

It was probably a good thing no one had brought up fruits yet. Or mushrooms.

“Would it be possible to grow, like, my own chillies?” Amon inquired, honestly interested now. Suddenly the whole gardening thing was of at least some appeal to him. It did sound like it'd be an awful lot of work, but, well, it might just be worth it. “And, it’s fine, you’re not confusing us at all,” he added, glancing at Ruku after he’d interfered. “In fact,” he gave Jasa a somewhat embarrassed yet at the same time quite charming smile, “both of us have a bit of a hard time reading. I’d rather have things explained by someone in person.”

Nephrite nodded sagely in agreement. Her reading skills had improved (Amon’s too, ever since she kept making him read stuff to her), but it still wasn’t something which came easily to her. Except for those scrolls in Mang’s shop, for some odd reason.

“But,” Amon added, getting out one of his cards and scribbling something on the back before handing it over to Jasa, “it would probably help if you could forward those lists and sketches to this email?” It was one of his business cards, containing no personal info but that of the company he worked for, albeit being rather subtle in nature. Some people didn’t even get what it implied, but those who did … it was always fun of sorts, to observe their reaction.

(( I figured there was the word "Escort" on the card. It's not a word that Ruku is familiar with lol. Sorry it took so long. ))

Ruku suddenly tilted his head in a smirky attitude as he watched her. The wheels turning in his head could almost be seen if one looked closely. < Warm or you will be doing without more than an ice maker. And we are supposed to do this today. Send her a book. >

Jasa blinked, then sighed. "I know you would too, but you will behave or else, Ruku. I suppose I could leave you with this Athan person and do it all on my own."

His tail twitched slightly. He would have to behave- at least for now. Glancing over at the card that Amon had given her, he tried to read each word carefully. < What does that word mean, Jasa? > He finally asked when he could not figure out the meaning.

The girl glanced down at the card where his finger was pointing. She raised an eyebrow, almost turning red as she watched Amon. "Really? Hm... interesting..." She turned to stare at her fiend, then shook her head. "That is a talk for another day, Ruku." And she would avoid it as long as she could.

Their food arrived as she added, "I will send this by email, but I have a few books at home. I'll have one sent to the address on the card for you. One on greenhouses and one one plants. Jasa wrote down her email, home address, and phone number on a piece of the tablet and handed it Amon. "If you run into something you don't know, then give me a call. I've a machine if I'm not there." She glanced over at Ruku as if accusing him of something.

< I don't need to mess with all machinery. > he replied surely having caught the glare his direction. < First I have no mouth to speak on it. Secondly, it's not cold. >

The girl stared at him, then muttered, "Brat... >
