After throwing herself head-first into a whole new world of energy gathering and space aliens, Ashley decided she could use one night off-duty, so to speak.
In was for that reason that Ashley had called one of her friend, Skye, with an offer to go shopping. The redhead had, to her delight, accepted, and now she was waiting for her to get to the mall so they could begin their search. Ashley was in dire need of new clothes, anyway, since the weather was slowly getting warmer and warmer.

Skye's thoughts were in line with Ashleys when it came to needing new clothes due to the weather change. In fact Skye had been thinking that she needed new clothes when the phone had rung. In all honesty Skye never needed to buy new clothes she had a whole room in her apartment purely for her clothes. Skye was just one of those girls who always needed more clothes and of course more shoes!
One reason Skye loved Ashley so much was because she was so small! Skye wasn't the tallest girl around and in a way it made her feel taller around Ashley, one of those terrible selfish parts of Skye shining through right there.
She got to the mall in a decent enough time though, wearing a nice dress that had only been bought last week.
"Ashley!" She called as she walked over to her. "Ready to attack this mall?" Skye was more then ready!

Ah, here she was ! Ashley went toward Skye the second she spotted her. "You bet that I am ! What's the attack plan ?"
Her father had given her his credit card just for this occasion. This might or might not have been a good thing, depending on how much Ashley would spot that she found cute, though thankfully her height did manage to cut down her spending a little bit.

"How about some shoes?" Skye loved shoes and she was so sure that Ashley could do with some heels to like bring her up to everyone else's height. Skye loved heels for that reason but she wasn't as short as Ashley!
"Unless of course there is something you actually need?" Skye was more then happy to look somewhere else first but you know shoes were a weakness of hers.
"Hows school anyway?" Skye was always curious to hear about Meadowview, she looked down on the school being a Crystal girl through and through. She couldn't help wonder what it would be like to go to school with boys though, she never had before and well she was curious to say the least. One could get bored of bitching girls all the time and Skye well she liked to get out and have fun with whoever. She did wonder sometimes whether the guys and girls at Meadowview went out parting as often as she did.
"Many wild parties or any at all?"

It was a rather ironic thought when one knew that Ashley owned exactly one pair of heels, which she wore in one occasion - when she was going out in bars. Otherwise, the girl was most often seen in converses or, if you caught her right after practice, her soccer shoes. On more formal occasions, she wore simple dress shoes.
The heels were a rare species indeed.
"I should have known you'd go straight for the shoes." She gave an amused laugh. "It's fine for me, I do need some things but we can get to them later."
She started walking toward the door then, with the redhead following closely.
"Boring." Ashley let out a sigh. School was mostly that, boring, beside an handful of subjects. "And yeah, there's a few. Whenever someone's parents go out of town for the weekend something tend to happen, and if you're lucky enough someone manage to bring the alchool." With varied results. They both knew what a horde of drunk teenagers could do.
"How's Crystal ?" She asked, similarly. Crystal had been where her parents would have wanted her to go, just like they had hoped for her older brother to go to Azure Valley. Both Desmond siblings had missed the mark, and while she didn't care, it hadn't been the same for Matthew.

Skye smiled when Ashley agreed to go look at shoes first! Oh the money she would end up spending on those things and probably only wear them the once. Oh well an addiction was an addiction and hey it wasn't like she took drugs or anything so she thought it a pretty safe one.
"We lack parties at school I think it is mostly due to the fact that most of us live there. Generally school is school though, the bitching and the little subtle status fights. All the things you would expect from a snobby girls school. Personally I can't wait to get out! I have my apartment ready and then I shall show this city what a party is!" Skye was sure she could throw the best party, in reality she wasn't sure she had ever thrown a party so she had no idea how one would go.
Skye led Ashley into a shoe shop she adored, the shop was mostly full of heels and well she was still determined to get Ashley some heels! Maybe some nice purple ones to match her hair.
"What do you think of these?" She walked over to some ankle boots, they had quite the heel on them but were in a nice dull grey and so weren't in your face, more subtle and yes of course Skye was thinking these would be perfect for Ashley though of course right now Skye would probably think all the heels in the shop would be perfect for her!
"Hows life at home then? Anything new?" Keep the conversation flowing and then Skye hoped she might get her friend to at least give in and try the shoes on. Failure wasn't even on Skye's mind.

"Yeah, I guess it can get pretty hellish in there." All these girls in one place... Really, yikes. Ashley wasn't sad that she had missed her window of opportunity to go to Crystal in the least. "At least you graduate this year, don't you ? Then you won't have to worry about that anymore. You gotta show me your apartment sometime, through !" Ashley still had one more year of high school ahead of her. Boo.
Ashley looked at the pair of boots that Skye showed her. "They're not bad... I don't think I have anything that'll look good with that shade of gray, through ?"
"Nothing all that new at home either, really. It's been pretty calm and quiet." Outside the whole fighting for the good of the earth deal, you know.

"Yep can't wait to graduate and of course, you are clearly coming to every party I throw!" Skye smiled happily at the thought, oh she couldn't wait!
"Well that's fine, we are shopping! We can find you something to go with them!" Skye laughed and tried to hand them to Ashley. "At least try them on? Please?" She did a little begging face in hope! As if Ashley thought she would get away with an excuse like that when they were at a mall and shopping!
Skye just nodded when Ashley mentioned home life, it was the pretty boring thing anyway. Skye wanted to move onto the gossip chat!
"So... hows the love life?" Yep just slip it in there... Skye loved gossip!

Ashley pouted playfully and accepted the shoes from Skye. "As if I could say no to you when you start making that face." She rolled her eyes in a clearly over-exaggerated fashion as she sat on the nearby bench and started to unlace her converses. "You know all my weaknesses, I swear..."
She stopped in mid taking off on one shoe as the love question hit. "Ah..." Ohh ? Was her cheeks reddening ? "Nothing, really... It's been awhile since I've seen a boy that really caught my eye." Truth was, it wasn't really boys that caught her eye. But to admit that ? To Skye of all people ?
Nope, Ashley wasn't going down that path yet.

Skye smiled and happily gave the shoes over, so very keen to see her friend wearing them.
"See perfect!" She laughed a little as she said it as she noticed her friend suddenly go red! Then deny that there was no love interest! Skye wasn't that stupid, she really wasn't!
"Oh come on you can't lie there is no doubting that! Look at you! Bright red!" She moved closer and knelt on the ground looking up at Ashley's face. "Come on tell me!" Skye was a little persistent to say the least. Once Skye got the idea something was up, well there was no stopping her. She loved to hear gossip and she loved to gossip and when it came to love interests... well they were her specialty!

"Oh, come on ! You know i'd tell you if there was someone !" The poor girl was still beet-red, but she knew that Skye wasn't going to let go of the subject that easily. It was time for re-direction - she finished putting on the shoes and took a few steps - the heels clicking with every step she took. That was always so odd.
"I dunno, Skye..." She twirled. "Im feeling a little off-balance in heels so high..."

Skye was about to say something when Ashley seemed to easily distract her with talk of shoes. It was surprising sometimes, or maybe not so if you knew Skye well just how easy it was to distract her with the talk of shoes.
"Oh don't be silly they look amazing on you! Look over here, see in the mirror you look stunning!" Oh yes Skye was pushing it, in all honesty she loved the shoes and had already planned on buying them if Ashley didn't give in, either to try and get her friend to take them out of guilt tripping or to wear them herself, she hadn't decide which path she would take yet though.
"Look we can find you a beautiful dress to go with them... isn't there a dance coming up soon?" She was sure she had seen some sort of poster around all the schools together or something. "Either way even if it is just rumours we can always go out partying! If you haven't got any I know the best place for fake ID!" She whispered the last bit. She wasn't so stupid that she let the world know about her fake ID.

Ashley pouted, looking at the mirror. She did... She did look good, really. And there was prom coming up... even though she wasn't a senior, she still kind of wanted to go, even though she didn't have a date, or a dress... Or shoes, on that matter. Her heels were getting pretty beaten up.
And were heels really worse than walking almost bare-footed night after night ? Thankfully for her, the wraps were thick enough to keep unpleasant things like glass shards at bay, but the fact still was that she was walking nearly bare-footed.
"Oh, fine, fine." The purple-haired teen finally gave in. "You're impossible, Skye."

"I know!" She smiled and happily wandered over to some shoes she had seen. Success! She picked up a few pairs of heels as well, some more elaborate then others before hurrying back to Ashley.
"Lets pay and go find you some gorgeous dresses!" Yep, dresses, plural. Skye was going to make this a full on shopping trip and she was going to use Ashley as her doll to make up. The dance seemed like a good excuse to do so and she had already got Ashley to buy the shoes! Today was going to be a good day!
"You are bound to pull someone at the ball once we are finished today!" She smiled happily. "The boys are just going to love you!" Skye was certain that well everyone would love Ashley, she was so cute! It did remind her that she would need to push her later about whether there was anyone at school. She could do it later, catch her off guard or something like that.

Oh, bother. Ashley was all but dragged around toward the front of the store, where they could pay for their items. It was the talk of dresses that really caught her. Plural.
...Well, maybe she could afford a few cheaper ones ?
Maybe. Hm.
She knew better than to admit she wasn't sure if she would even go to the dance. The closest she had to a willing boy to go with her was Demy, and well... That would just be awkward. How did you explain suddently showing up to prom with a boy technically hadn't seen in years until recently ?
And well. There was the whole gay thing.
