 Jacqueline walked ontop of a dead tree that had fallen no more then a few days earlier. The forest had not yet been able to reclaim the tree, however, in a few months time she new the tree would be covered in moss and would also become the home of the little woodland animals. A smile crossed her muzzle as she walked. In light of her recent encounters with other soquili, she had yet to meet someone that proved to be worth being afraid of. She was beginning to question why she had ever been afraid of the world around her. Jacqueline hoped that her next encounter would allow her the chance to come out of her anxiety filled shell. However, little did she know that this encounter would only set her back. It was not yet her time to grow and develop. Jacqueline pranced happily off the dead tree with a loud thud. She continued to walk through the forest, looking at all of the signs of spring and couldn't contain herself. She wasn't sure if it was the spring or just the excitement of what was around the corner. Jacqueline hoped someone appear and allow her the chance to show her new found faith in the world around her.

His head should be hers, damnit, and she should have returned to her herd victorious long ago. Curse her arrogance for letting him bide his time, for playing cat and mouse and releasing him from battle. She knew better than to play games while on the hunt, but it seemed the spirits weren't favoring her within the country. Oh well. She didn't need the gods favor. She'd find him someday, and next time she wouldn't let him off the hook so easy. The next battle would be their last, and she'd make sure to end their feud swiftly.
Picking her way quietly through the woods, her ears flicked as she caught the sound of someone not far ahead. The mare glowered as she heard the racket caused by such a clumsy individual, and she flicked her tail in irritation. She didn't suspect Nikandros - he had too much sense to walk so loudly - but Eudoxia refused to let a potential predator (or annoyance) linger long nearby. Expertly she picked her way through the foliage, watching her step and making very little noise.
Sure enough, she saw the source. It looked to be a mare, stupidly and blindly picking her way around some fallen tree. The stupid fool was going to get herself killed. That was something Eudoxia had found - this land produced nothing more than ignorant individuals that had lost their touch with nature and their senses. They were loud, stupid, and didn't know the first thing about defense. Glowering at Jaqueline, she waited to see how long it would take for the mare to realize she was being watched. . . .
