The lake. Badiah was fairly sure her mother only brought her and her siblings here when they drover her to distraction and she simply needed to give them a giant puddle of a distraction to get them off her back. Bad might have felt somewhat guilty over this, since she so often added to her mother’s burden by straying too far and starting fights among her siblings, but the lake was too exciting a thing to be bothered by that now. As soon as her mother had picked a place to settle, Bad ran for the water’s edge and went dashing alongside it, looking for a suitable place to practice swimming without the splashing aggravation of her brothers and sisters. At least, with the wide flat lake as a centerpiece, she wouldn’t outdistance her mother’s eyes, so she was able to run quite a distance to find a proper spot without risking her mother’s ire. Pleased, she grinned and flung herself headlong into the shallows – which came up over her own neck. She wasn’t a very good swimmer yet and she kept tangling her feet and dipping her nose underwater, but the lake stood as a silent and indomitable challenge. It hadn’t even occurred to her to accept the lake as a thing too large for her to conqueror and to remain on the banks.

The dark blue lioness was getting older, and soon she would belong to a pad. She would no longer belong to her fathers harem, but her own mates harem. The thought made her nervous. What if she didnt love who she ended up with? That was the main fear that Zoey really had. She didnt mind sharing a male, she didnt mind obeying him blindly. But she wanted to love him. Without love, she felt her life would never really go anywhere. She would not have lived her dreams, and all her dreams were full of the story book fairy tale romances.

The day had started off slow enough, but father had asked her to take a walk while he and his banu had some time to themselves. Since she was her fathers daughter, and not a banu, she decided to obey that situation. She certainly didnt want to be in the way, and the trip to the lake had seemed like an amazing idea. It was hot outside, l ike always, the sun heating her dark pelt, and the lake would offer her comfort from the suns rays. Lately, all her thoughts had been on Mirsa, if only because she knew soon he would be going on his quest, and she'd be left alone. She hated herself for growing as attached to the young male as she had. It was obvious he didnt feel anything for her (or to her it was anyway!) and she had known how he was from a young age. Oh well, she was happy that she had a friend as dear as Mirsa, and if thats all he was destined to be, then so be it. She did, however, wish he would have taken the initiative to even.. maybe hint to something! Flopping down on the lakes banks, she placed her front paws in the water, her belly touching the earth as she slowly moved her paws back and forth.

Bad’s heart always jumped in her chest when she faltered and the water slipped up around her chin, and she would make the panicked strokes for the bank, but after recovering she went back out without hesitation. She spent a few minutes testing herself, and then finally set a higher goal. A bit further down the shore the bank formed an L-shape that bent out towards the land, and she hurried down to it, planning to swim across the gap where she wasn’t quite sure how deep the water was. She’d noticed there was someone on the far bank, but she hardly glanced at the lioness before diving energetically into the waters. She made a good show of the little swim, except for a moment towards the end where she got her paws mixed up.

Panting, she slogged her way out of the water and finally bothered to give the nearby lioness a glance, which swiftly became a double-take. She didn’t see how it could be, but the older Banu looked remarkably like she had imaged several days ago when she’d met her uncle in a field of flowers. She was too intent on trying to understand the connection to care that she was standing there, sodden, staring with squinted orange eyes and panting from an open mouth. It was incredibly rude to simply swim up and behave so, but Bad didn’t find that in the least relevant now.

Her claw was extended, drawing little shapes in the water as she sighed. Obviously deep in thought, she wasnt really paying much attention to the world around her. Though the splashing quickly caught her attention and she perked up.
Staring out at the water, her light blue eyes watched the cub bob and dive. She smiled and sighed. Being a cub had been one of the best times of her life. Life was carefree, and you were just -happy-.. She was slightly envious of the cub
for still being what she could never be again. She realized it was a stupid thing to envy, but no matter how hard she tried she just couldnt stop herself from feeling that way.
Her tail swayed side to side, brushing the golden grasses that made the banks of the lake. She watched curiously, remembering those good days, and for a moment she was lost in her thoughts.

When the splashing stopped, she brought herself back to reality. She should stop zoning off.. It might get her in trouble one of these days. But caution for the cub had her looking. However she didnt see a cub that had sunk from the surface.
She saw a cub that was staring at her with her mouth agape. Zoey looked around her, and then behind her, before looking to the cub.
Raising an eyebrow, "What are you staring at?"

Bad shook her head, clearing it, then decided to shake the rest of herself. Still eyeing the Banu, she walked a few steps to the side to keep from sopping her and shook herself from nose to tailtip, sending water in all directions. “You,” she answered flatly, serious though her fur was no longer slicked to her sides with water and was poking ridiculously in all directions. “I’ve, um, seen you here before, sort of, sorry. Do you come here in the evenings much?” She still looked puzzled and didn’t sound at all sorry in fact, but there was no mistaking it. This was the Banu she’d seen before, but she’d looked older before…

Her? She'd been staring at her? That made Zoey curious, and a little nervous. Zoey recognized the pelt as some of the U'W, and being it was more than just a few pads that were colored in that fashion, she had no idea whos cub this was. She racked her brain and when nothing certain came to her she shrugged. Oh well, it didnt really matter. Though it would explain how the cub had seen her before. But usually cubs were kept on close guard, and she was positive she had never met her before. After Bad asked the question, the female paused. What an odd question to ask someone.. She wasnt sure what that mattered, at all.. But she figured it was rather rude to not answer her. Bad wasnt being aggressive or mean, and so she had the respect and attention of Zoey for the moment.

"I do, or I try to. Its beautiful to watch the moon from here." She said, explaining as well that way the cub didnt think she liked to mope and look all depressed ALL the time. She cocked her head, eyeing the cub.

"Why were you staring at me?" She questioned.

Bad frowned faintly and her ears swept back. It had been a good day up until now. It had been a good long while since her last little dizzy spell. She’d only had two ‘spells’ so far in her short life, but she’d hoped they would be too infrequent to bother her much. From talking to her uncle, she was under the impression that her little spells were something like an illness or defect, and it wasn’t something she particularly felt like divulging. Still, how strange that her first little spell was linked to the Banu with which she was speaking now. She looked uncertain for a moment, and then shook her head. Coincidence, it had to be. After all, if her mind was playing tricks on her, it was probably just ill fate, and it made sense that the lioness she’d seen was older, since they couldn’t really be the same Banu. And as for the lack cropping up, well, it was a place her mind knew, and it must have recycled the memory. Her frown deepened and she actually did look sorry, or at least uncomfortable. “I thought I’d seen you before. I didn’t mean to intrude, my name is Badiah by the way, but I go by Bad.”

She watched the emotions flicker over the cubs face. First it was focused, then out of nowhere there was a frown, and then confusion. She wasnt sure why the cub had thought she had seen her though it was very possible she had.. They were in the same pride however, and
that meant that Bad easily could have seen her somewhere before. But once she began thinking, she paused. Wait, was her name Bad? That
name was so familiar that it was almost painful for it not to hit her quickly. But then a lightbulb went off in her head and she pointed
with the claw that had been in the water moments before. "Bad? I know that name. Are you, by chance, related to Mirsaradji?" She asked.

Murphys_Law
Bad looked pointedly between the claw and Banu, wondering why such a thing would be so alarming. A better question: how did she know uncle Mirsajadi? Sensing some significant, she licked her lips before nodding and answering with curiosity thick in her voice. “Yes, he’s my uncle, through my father, Pad Anwar’Mazin. How do you know him?”

Buffy_the_Bloody
She wondered if Mirsa would be angry with her for saying that they were best friends. She didnt want to embarrass him with his family, and it pained her that she thought that way. She smiled softly, though sadly, and looked at her paws which were now back against the earth, crushing the tall golden grasses. She could lie, but then what if Bad went to Mirsa, and he found out she lied? Ugh she hated not knowing how to answer.. So she decided just to get it over with and tell the truth.. If Mirsa was going to be mad, then he would be mad and she could do nothing about it.

"Hes my best friend." She said nodding, her tail flicking back and forth. Her eyes didnt hold the same happy gleam. Father was growing angry at waiting for her to be bonded to a Pad.. He told her often that if she didnt hurry and find someone he'd do it for her. The thought alone terrified her.

"He was telling me about you. Its good to meet you, Little Bad." She smiled.

Murphys_Law
Bad stared at her, but her gaze was not critical this time, but surprised. How could that possibly be a coincidence? It was too much of a stretch.
“I’m-“ She paused, choking on the next word, and for a moment she visibly struggled with a mixture of conflicting emotions, but in the end she gave up preserving her dignity with lies. “Look, I have seen you before, but it’s sort of hard to explain. See, I’m kinda sick, there’s something wrong with my head. I get really dizzy sometimes, and,” she paused for the sake of her wits and made herself maintain eye contact and ignore her shame, “and I have a kind of fit.” At least that’s what Mirsajadi had called it. She thought, for a moment, that she would compare herself to him, but even though this Banu was his friend, she wasn’t sure she knew about his similar problem, and Bad didn’t want to hurt him by sharing a secret. She decided against mentioning it. “Anyway, when I have my fits I always see something that’s not there, sort of like a dream, but a lot shorter and I stay awake. I was with uncle Mirsajadi the first time it happened, and I saw you. I thought it was a coincidence, but I saw you at this lake. You were older though, and it was evening where I saw you.”
