Algie had recieved Miranda's note and found it to be a pleasant distraction from the crazed state of his household. He had a strange crow-man invade their home and his trustworthiness was questionable at best, he was still on edge about mysterious messages he continued to receive on a consistent basis and Hela was bothering him about being social. Of course she meant her own social life as well as his. Apparently keeping a normal, everyday routine was not exciting enough for the teenager.
And now she wanted a driver's license. Could you drive with tentacle legs?
The elder wizard decided to finally get her the jewelry he'd inquired about previously. Of course he could have just placed the order through the post, but Bloodstone was also antsy to get out and away from the household's teenaged resident. The wisp was absolutely bursting with energy and the overcast day was just perfect for him. He zipped down the streets and Algie was sure that if it was possible he'd have burst through the door to Twilight Designs all on his own. Bloo tapped against the glass impatiently as his bond meandered down the block.
Algie was in no hurry and enjoyed the spring day. Despite it being over cast there was a fresh breeze and he reveled in a deep breath before entering the shop. The atmosphere was always different depending on who manned the counter but he caught the lingering scents of incense left from whenever the last time Nephrite had spent her time there. He smiled at the memory of the sweet young fiend and Bloo seemed to also brighten when the feeling leaked to him through their bond. The other fiend was simply a memory though and Algie was interested in meeting a new female friend.
"Hello? Miranda?" Bloo boldly began to explore the shop, finding all the familiar nooks and crannies before seeming as if he was going to fly himself into the back rooms, seemingly not caring if he was allowed to or not.

“Right here~!” The door to the back room stood half open, and within a second Miranda was peering through the opening into the storefront. The Color Of The Day for her hair apparently was lilac today, and it sported a somewhat messy bun-bun style – one bun left, one right. The young woman peered curiously at Algernon for a moment, before her already cheery expression brightened considerably.
“Ohhhh, you must be Algernon! Nephrite told me everything about you, she’s such a sweetheart. I was just about to make some tea, would you like some too?” Her eyes widened slightly when she spotted Bloo, and she waved enthusiastically. “Why, hello there, little one~! I hope you’ll make friends with my Rutie?”
‘Rutie’, as he was referred to by his guardian, was currently doing its best making a mess out of the small tea tin Miranda had carelessly left behind open on the kitchenette counter, its whirlwind of shadows not being very strong, but definitely enough of a force to blow the dried leaves here and there.

Tea, as always, was the magic word with Algie and his already cheerful expression broke into a large bright smile. "Oh I would love some tea!"
Bloo found Rutie effortlessly, as he was already being nosey about the shop. The wisp circled the newer fiend in curiosity, using his slightly more powerful shadows to also toss about some tea leaves. Were we causing trouble for our bonds? Why yes.. please!
"Nephrite is a dear." Algie pushed his glasses up his nose and unbuttoned the single hole on his blazer. "It was my first time meeting her and she just seems to be such a sweet heart. Her bond I did not meet though. I am curious to..." The way the female fiend portrayed him only made Algie more curious.
"It is lovely to meet you though!" He offered his hand briefly to her and gave her a gentlemanly bow. "And Rutie."

“I hope green tea is alright? It’s … Mmh, I’m not sure, I think it was Longjing …” Miranda peered over her shoulder, hoping to be able to read the label on the tin from her position, only to discover much to her chagrin that not one, but two wisps were happily tossing the dried leaves about. “Oh stop it, you two! Shoo! Shoo! Food is not something to play with!”
She hastily hurried back into the back room, failing to notice Algie’s offered hand, but instead shooing the playful little wisps off the tin and giving them a glare. Her anger was a mere act of course, the tiny fiends being entirely too cute from her point of view, but they had to learn rules.
“Sorry about that,” she apologized to Algie, waving him to follow her into the back room. “I really ought to know better than leaving the tin open, but I was a little surprised there’d be a customer at this time of the day …”
“And,” she nodded her agreement, “Neph is the sweetest thing ever. I don’t like her guardian much though, Amon? He’s … a model, or something, I think? Pretty vain and full of himself, ugh.” She stuck out her tongue. “And he doesn’t like magic, can you imagine that?” To Miranda, who’d grown up in a very conservative and entirely un-magical and mundane household, magic was the most amazing and wonderful thing ever.

"Oh that is just fine." Any tea was wonderful. Of course he had preferences, but being exceedingly polite he always appreciated anything when he was a guest. He was fine that she missed the offer of his hand and instead laughed at the two wisps mischief.
"Bloo gets a little excited around other fiends. He doesn't start much trouble on his own but he's just fine to join in if it's already started!" Bloodstone was shooed by her hand but straightened, seeming to pause and show off as soon as Algie talked about him. He then drifted slowly about Miranda in his version of an inspection, before once more zipping to Rutie. he was so curious about this new friend!
"A model?" Algie wasn't sure if he should go into the back room or not so he hovered about the doorway. "I was wondering. Neph was very vague about his profession. As someone who has dedicated his life to the pursuit of magical knowledge.. I certainly understand his views but I can't say I mirror them." He had no idea she was non-magical but anyone who was a magic supporter was good in his book.
"Magic can be a dangerous thing. And often misused." he frowned. "That can end up very badly. Some can be exploited and others just fear it. I try to assuage those fears as best as I can in people I meet. I'm surprised he has a fiend. They are just lousy with magic." He chuckled.
Algie shifted slightly where he stood and watched the two wisps in their familiar dance of discovery, introduction and exploration. He'd seen it quite a few times since he'd bonded with Bloo. "I wanted to thank you, so much, for helping me with this jewelry situation. I'm a rather hopeless father figure and clueless about jewelry to boot."

“Come in, come in~!” Miranda motioned again. “It’s fine, fiends guardians are explicitly welcome in the back, this room was pretty much made for them to be comfortable. There’s a back door too, in case you should ever feel uncomfortable to enter through the shop front for one reason or another.” She pointed into the according direction. “Just leave the door open, so that I can keep an ear out for any other customers entering.”
“A model or something or other. I’m not sure. Something like that. Reyna laughed her a** off when I mentioned it, but she seems to laugh at pretty much everything I say anyway.” Miranda made a face, and then quickly mumbled: “However, that’s my problem to deal with …” Really, she shouldn’t be gossiping about what relationship she had to her co-workers, and – slightly embarrassed – she busied herself preparing the tea.
Rutie shifted closer to the other fiend as well, his shadows twirling about like a little hurricane – which had pretty much earned him the nickname ‘Twister’ from his guardian. He was comfortable with this one – it was tiny, just as himself. Not a threat to be considered, unlike elder fiends or … cats.
“Hm, my parents pretty much share that view. Magic being dangerous and misused and all, that is.” Miranda distractedly peered at her watch – sort of a tiny version of a pocket watch she was wearing as a pendant – to get the steeping time right. “It corrupts people’s minds, they say. Personally, I think magic is pretty amazing.”
She looked up, her eyes widening slightly when Algernon actually mentioned jewelry. Oh, right, he’d come as a customer actually! She’d almost forgot.

Algie hadn't been formally invited anywhere in the shop before now. His visits had been brief and his first time here had been in dire emergency. The elder man felt much more comfortable hearing all of this from an employee.
Bloo seemed to be impressed with Rutie's shadows. He'd never seen a fiend move them in such a way. Bloo's shadows were like a combination of smoke and flame, lapping upwards in a mix of green, red and shadowy black. He circled Rutie slowly before he finally stopped and reached out his smokey tendrils to brush against the whirling ones of his companion. Rutie was sure to feel the calming aura that Bloodstone couldn't seem to be able to turn off.
Algie seemed a little amused with the way Miranda seemed mildly frustrated with her coworker. He could relate but found that there was alot he didn't understand from his daughter and son-in-law's circle of friends. He just gave Miranda a smirk and a wink, he wasn't sure if she caught it, and motioned that his mouth was zipped. her mild gossip would not leave this room!
"If you ever want some razzle dazzle, just let me know. I like to be a little more approachable, and better dressed, than most wizards!" He'd left his robe phase far behind him!
Coming fully into the room, he pulled out a chair and took a seat. He reached out his fingers, dancing them towards the two wisps but Bloo deftly dodged him.
"My ward, Hela, is who I am buying this for. I think a necklace. It is the only type of jewelry I ever see her wear. She's a bit unique though." He waved his hand vaguely, "Skin tone and hair, I mean."
Lifting himself he fished in his pocket until he found a small drawstring pouch. He reached inside, much farther than he should have been able to, and pulled out a plain leather wallet. Why didn't he just keep it in his pocket? Because wizards don't so simple obvious things like that!
From the wallet he withdrew a picture of Hela and slid it across the table to show Miranda.

Rutie’s vortex of shadows slowed considerable at Bloo’s touch, and the usually quite hyperactive and generally never tiring fiend was rather bewildered and confused by the strange sensation it felt. What was this …?
“You. Are. A. Wizard. For real?” Miranda looked at Algie in what pretty much could only be interpreted as utter adoration. “I mean, Nephie told me all about you making a flower for her from a pen. But a real wizard? That’s amazing.”
It was a good thing Miranda had – by now – become somewhat accustomed to the strange and unusual folks which happened to frequent the store, so she actually remembered to strain the tea before it could turn bitter. She poured a cup for Algie and one for herself.
Rutie didn’t even seem interested in trying to dodge, instead wrapping his shadows tightly around Algie’s fingers for but a moment. The impression the little fiend gave was as if he was trying to do his own itsy bitsy teeny tiny version of a handshake.
Settling on the couch with her own cup, Miranda curiously peered at the picture. “My, she’s gorgeous. Especially those eyes. Oh god, I think I’m jealous.” She laughed and took a sip of her tea. “I think I know just the right thing for her. Ever head about something called ‘sea opal’?”

"As real as they get, I suppose." Algie cocked another smile but seemed a bit more shy about it now that she had that adoring look. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
Bloo seemed enthralled by the whirling shadows and the way they slowed to his touch. He circled the other slowly now, mimicking the direction in which the shadows spiralled. After a moment the wisp stopped though, bobbling in place. Was he dizzy? Or mimicking dizziness to be funny?
The elder wizard was slightly distracted by the antics of the wisps and was even slightly impressed that Rutie had, seemingly, shaken his hand. He snapped back when Miranda began to gush over Hela's picture.
"I haven't heard of it. Well.. I've heard of Opal. Can you explain to me the difference?" Opal was something he'd played with in his mind when planning this jewelry. He liked the multifaceted nature of it's color scheme. But he could never quite make up his mind. That's why he'd come to Miranda after all. He didn't even know if he wanted to go with a red color scheme or if he wanted to accentuate her eyes and markings.

“Awesome.” Athan being a magic-user was already pretty cool too, but she’d never thought she’d meet an honest-to-goodness real wizard. She loved her new job with Twilight Designs, Miranda decided once again, it was just so full of wonderful and amazing things, and let her meet the most wonderful and amazing people! It made up (mostly) for Reyna’s constant acidic and scathing remarks.
Rutie’s little vortex of shadows sped up considerably again once Bloo’s touch lessened. What … What had that been, this strange sensation? It took him a little while in his bewilderment to notice that the other wisp was bobbling, and – with a flash of mischief that could be felt by everyone present, he reached out with a shadowy tendril to see if he could tip Bloo over.
“Well, sea opal actually isn’t a gem at all. Though you might find it sold as one. Just like goldstone. And just like goldstone, it’s actually glass. Mh, let me get some samples for you.” Miranda abruptly set down her cup and rushed off to where she stored her own bead strands, returning before soon holding several of them.
“That’s it. It’s also referred to as opalite, imitation opal, imitation moonstone, or cryolite glass. See, this is the most common variation.” She held up one of the bead strands. For the most part the beads looked milky, yet still transparent. “Against light surfaces, they tend to have a golden sheen. Against dark surfaces, however, they get this awesome blueish glow. It looks similar to the moonstones’ adularescence, but not quite like it. Recently there’s been variations dyed to a pinkish or blueish hint cropping up. Personally, I’m waiting for green to happen. Anyway!” She laid out another strand, of the blue tint she’d mentioned. “Doesn’t this look perfectly just like her eyes? And I think, what with it being referred to as ‘sea opal’ it would be quite fitting to use too.”
Never mind that Athan strongly frowned at the use of … OMG, glass. Opalite was gorgeous, who cared if it was man-made?!

"Oh!" Algie had no idea about the variety of information that Miranda was sharing. Her enthusiasm was infectious though, and he was getting happy and excited about it just by talking with her.
Bloo bobbled again but seemed to have been feigning it. When Rutie reached out to topple him over he seemed to spin, upward and in a complete circle, as if he were doing a flip. It was sort of a 'Ha! I fooled you' move. His own tendrils attempted to tangle with Rutie's wanting to pull the other if he could. It was like a game! Who could get the other first?
Algie was amazed by Sea Opal once she'd fetched her examples. "The blue is amazingly like her eyes." He ran some beads over his hands and turned them over. "I already love your ideas! And this seems to be a perfect selection. I really don't mind if it's a real gem.. or glass.. or a rock even." Algie smiled, caught up now in the planning of this jewelry.
"I had talked to Nephrite about perhaps a butterfly shape. It's very feminine.. How do you feel about that?"

Miranda beamed, thoroughly satisfied Algie seemed to agree with her, even though she might have simply … overwhelmed him with her enthusiasm. “There’s some very nice rocks even,” she rambled on, due to the wizard mentioning them. “You’d be surprised how nice even granite can look, polished and buffed.”
Tricked! As soon as Bloo was within his reach again, Rutie’s shadows moved to tangle right back, giving very much the impression of trying to overwhelm him and have him into a headlock. … as much as that was possible among floating gems.
“Stop that!” Miranda muttered with a frown. “It’s distracting. Really. Boys … Where was I?”
“Mh, yes, butterfly shape, that might work well, it’s very feminine indeed. But, mh, so are flowers, and the like.” She coughed, her cheeks reddening slightly with embarrassment. “Though, you know, I work mostly with pre-made findings, I’m not an actual goldsmith or anything. So … this is not very professional, but I’ll say it straight – anything butterfly is actually pretty easy to come by.” She laughed. “Flowers too, though. And I might be able to hunt down some maritime themed items as well, or … maybe I can make Athan do it. He’s the one taking care of purchasing supplies most of the time. I swear, if I’d had his kind of connections, I wouldn’t be making jewelry. I’d just happily be buying/selling/buying/selling …”
She blushed some more. “Uh. Sorry. I think I went off on a tangent there, not very professional indeed …” She blinked and looked at Algie with puppy dog eyes. She hadn’t just now given off a bad impression, had she? It wasn’t as if she was greedy or anything …

Algie had to admit that watching the wisps 'wrestle' was pretty amusing. They did act just like little boys when you really got down to it.
Bloo tangled back with Rutie, writhing against the other's shadowy grasp. He tried to counter it with his own twisting grab but soon they were being yelled at by the nice lady and Bloo seemed to be a bit of a gentleman. As soon as Miranda frowned at him like that he calmed down, his behaviors nothing more than innocent.
"Oh don't go too much out of your way." Algie sipped his tea. He'd forgotten about it almost once they'd started talking about the jewelry. "I don't want you to hassle Athan if you don't need to. Now that I have seen the glass you have chosen, I'm confident in whatever setting you think is prettiest. This glass is just too perfect!"
Algie thought Miranda was rather adorable with the shy way she had about her when it came to her own behavior. He gave her a dismissive wave and that disarming smile of his. "You have been perfectly professional. I like to think of all the people I meet with Fiends as friends of mine." Unless they prove differently and that had yet to happen. "So there's no need to be overly formal. I prefer getting to know everyone." Even if it was stupid little facts like Miranda slipped out.

Rutie was less of a ‘gentleman’ apparently, immediately jumping at the chance to no less than pounce upon the other fiend. Miranda quirked her brows as she watched his antics. “I swear, considering how terrified he is of cats one wouldn’t expect him to behave just like one …” she said, shaking her head and laughing a little. “He likes just the same toys and games, really.”
She took a sip from her own tea, glad she hadn’t given a bad impression. Because, that would reflect badly upon the shop. And give Reyna yet another reason to hate on her. She contemplated the photo of Hela once more, tapping on it lightly with one manicured fingernail. “Gold would look off on her, I think …” she mused aloud. “Silver too, actually, at least the one with the oxidized look I have around. Very bright fine silver maybe, or, mh, something plated to a platinum color, or … hm, not quite white gold? A very pale, silvery gold might work well …” Never mind she had no idea whatsoever where to let that kind of plating get done.

"He's very playful." Algie laughed again when the Rutie attacked Bloo. "Bloo seems to be very active. He also likes things like martial arts and none of the other wisps, so far, have been as physical as these two seem to be." Despite the stones 'wrestling' he was having a hard time telling which of them was 'winning'.
Bloo seemed happy enough, though surprised, to bump the the other wisp and tangle shadows with him.
"I see what you mean." Algie sipped his tea, now almost finished, and also looked at Hela's picture. "I feel safe enough with you now to express that money is not much of an issue." He wasn't bragging, but he was willing to pay for something nice. "And I don't have a time constraint. Because of the nature of her arrival at my home she doesn't have a set birthday or date that I need the piece by. So whatever type of metal.." He tilted his head. "I do like the idea of some sort of white or pale silvery gold. If you need time or resources for that. Don't be daunted!"
Algie had confidence in Miranda's abilities and didn't want to have her stifled creatively by time or monetary restrictions. "I also have 2 daughters so if this goes well.." He gave her a grin. More business could be coming her way!
