Ilyas
Ilyas had come hoome to find the den empty, which wasn't entirely surprising, given that his banu and beybanu were likely out hunting for dinner, but it was a little disappointing. He liked spending time with Afsar and Itzel, and since Farrah had left his harem to live with a pad she'd apparently fallen for at some point growing up, the den seemed emptier. Now, with no one there except for Ilyas himself, the den's emptiness was almost shocking.

He padded to his accustomed spot within the den to await the return of his banu and in the meantime tried to put together a list of things he wanted to do the next day. He also had to remember to tell Afsar about the vision a lioness named Mel'Tamu had about her. The whole experience had made him just a little uncomfortable, but it had also been interesting and memorable. He thought Afsar might like to hear about it.

Afsar
Afsar was coming back with food for Ilyas. She hadn't seen Itzel in a while, so she figured she was off doing whatever it was she did. Afsar didn't really have an opinion on the other Banu right now, but she did want to get to know Itzel since Ilyas seemed to like her so much. Green eyes sparkled with excitement when she spotted Ilyas in the den already and dragged the meet up to him, tail flicking happily behind her.

"Hey, Ilyas! I brought you something." She head-butted him in their custom greeting. It's how she'd been greeting him since they were but cubs, sleeping on rocks in patches of sunlight.

Ilyas
"I love when people bring me things," Ilyas said truthfully. "It reminds me that I am wonderful."

He smirked at his beybanu as he said this. He was headstrong and confident, but not actually as cocky as that last statement made him out to be. Sometimes he liked to make fun of the lions in the pride who affected importance like that. While pads were more important in the pride than banu were, there was a hierarchy to be observed which many seemed unaware of in their day-to-day behavior. He thought they were not as impressive as they thought themselves. But that probably came from being the son of a vizier and nephew to the sultan.

"I don't suppose Itzel's tagging along behind you, is she?" Ilyas asked. Without Farrah to help keep an eye on her, the white swirled lioness had been more and more inclined to wander, and Ilyas worried for her.

Afsar
She rolled her eyes ate that and laid next to him, stretching out happily. When he asked the question, however, the female shook her head

"I haven't seen her today, like... at all. She was gone when I woke up." It didn't really trouble her. Itzel often was gone before she woke up. It wasn't like Afsar was a lazy Beybanu, she just slept late and went to bed late. So it kind of made sense that she hadn't seen her today. "Why, have you seen her out and about?" Her tongue darted out to start grooming his neck and cheek, being affectionate with her Pad.

Slowly but surly, they were building up some kind of daily routine. Came home, joking about, grooming, talking about everything but what happened the other night. It was as awkward as the conversation they had, but it wasn't... bad. Her mother flipped when she told her.

Ilyas
"That long?" Ilyas asked, his attention sharpening and his eyes widening despite Afsar's tongue grooming his neck, which usually relaxed him totally.

He hadn't thought anything of her absence in the morning, since banu were frequently awake and moving around before their pads were, but if she had been gone when Afsar woke, that was not usual. It was, in fact, worrisome. How long had she been gone, in that case? She had definitely been there when they went to sleep the night before, but she could have vanished at any point in the night. If that was the case...

"I haven't seen her since last night," he said. "I think something's wrong. She may be wandering somewhere, lost, or maybe hurt. You know how her memory sort of...resets itself to blankness after she goes to sleep. If she slept between vanishing and now, she might not even remember that she has a home, let alone where it is."

He stood up and moved to the front of the den, a little regretful about not being able to enjoy their evening routine. "We have to find her."

Afsar
The more he spoke the more she worried. Afsar rose with him and nodded, brows knitting. She'd forgotten about the Banu's memory issues. What if she had made it out of the pride? Oh, nuts. This was NOT good. The orange lioness moved out of the den with her Pad and bit on her lip. "Do we seperate and meet back up?"

It seemed like the best thing to do, honestly. That way they covered the whole pride. Afsar would check from boarder to boarder for the banu.

But she had a feeling they wouldn't find her. Itzel was probably wandering the rogue lands again. It would break Ilyas' heart, and she didn't really want to see him sad. with a sigh, she waited, looking up at him expectantly.

Ilyas
It would have made better sense to separate and look for Itzel that way, but having already misplaced one banu, Ilyas was indescribably reluctant to part company with his beybanu. She was his favorite female in the pride, including his mother and sister Farrah. He would be damned before he lost her, too, and he was feeling understandably insecure on that front at the moment.

"No. Let's stay together," he said with conviction. "It may not be faster, but I would prefer it. Two pairs of eyes will see better than just one, and we have different skills for searching."

In other words, Afsar was a huntress and would probably be more likely to find things - or people in this case - than Ilyas. Also, he didn't relish explaining to other pads why his beybanu was wandering around on her own by the borders of the pride. It couldn't look good. And it wouldn't look good if they came home without Itzel either.

Rather uncharitably he thought some very nasty thoughts about Itzel, even knowing she couldn't really help being the way she was. It was still infuriating that she'd put him in this position.

Afsar
Afsar nodded and frowned. She had a feeling she knew what was going on in that head of his, but it was fine. If he wanted her with him, she would go. Nodding, she continued walking and turned. Opening her mouth, she breathed in and tried to get a scent of her, but there were too many other scents. That made her wrinkle her nose and frown before looking to her Pad. Gods, above, if he cried, she would lose it and hunt Itzel down herself and drag that Banu back here. No one made Ilyas cry. In the long time she knew him, he never cried.

She continued to walk with him in silence, wanting to know what was going on through that head of his.

Ilyas
Ilyas had never taken a banu outside of the borders of the pride, and he kept expecting someone to stop him, to challenge him and tell him that he couldn't do that. But he knew the pride's laws actually allowed him to take one of his banu out if he chose to do so. No one would stop them or say anything. And no one did. No one even seemed to notice their passage, and if they did, they probably assumed he and Afsar wanted some privacy that couldn't be found in the den.

"If we don't find her by dark tomorrow," Ilyas said, having come to this decision very suddenly and still irked at his missing banu, "I won't ask you to keep looking. We'll come back and get by as we are."

He'd have to find another banu, but right now he didn't quite want to give up the hope that they might find Itzel. Talking about replacing her didn't seem like a good omen for finding her.

Afsar
She snapped her head up as he talked and her brows knitted together. Their search thus far, was fruitless. The lions she asked hadn't seen her, nor knew who she was. She was expecting that. Biting on the inside of her cheek, she nodded and flattened her ears. "Of cours, Ilyas," she murmured, still looking. Her eyes were desperate now, wanting to find her only form of female companionship in the den when Ilyas had gone.

Would he find another, or would she be his only? In her heart, she knew he would find another. It wasn't normal for a male to have just one female. So, at least one more was for the best for them. They would avoid the whispers. "We can tell everyone she's sick.. until... you find another Banu."

She half felt she was speaking out of turn, but Ilyas never stopped her from saying what was on her mind before. Why start now? "I mean. ...If they ask about her. ...Not many seemed to notice her in the pride..." If that was a good or a bad, she wasn't sure, but it saved them a lot of trouble.

Great, now she felt horrible for even thinking like that.

Ilyas
Ilyas didn't like to lie. It went against the grain for him. There should be no reason for a pad to lie. After all, anything a pad did which didn't break the rules of the pride was acceptable, so what cause had he to lie?

Except this was an extraordinary case, and he would have to say something if they didn't find Itzel. He couldn't - couldn't - bring himself to admit publicly that he had lost the banu he'd brought back from his coming of age quest. There would be so many jokes at his expense, what with Farrah leaving too.

"Yes. But I think they might notice if she recovers from her illness answering to a different name and looking different, too." Despite the awfulness of the situation, Ilyas smirked.

Afsar
It sounded bitter to her, despite the smirk and she looked to the side, not knowing what else to do. So, Afsar stayed quiet and stayed on the look out. Who knew, maybe she and wandered into another Pad's den with no memory and he'd claimed her. "No one knows her," came her quiet admission. "We've been asking and I get a lot of: "Who? Never heard of her." She snorted and frowned a bit. Stupid Itzel, making their lives complicated when it was supposed to be simple like her mothers.

Now she didn't want to talk, in fear of him being bitter against her.

Ilyas
"Well, I suppose that's a boon then." Ilyas said before lapsing back into silence.

"Oh, gods. I'm going to have to tell Farrah. I know she'll notice. And she'll never let me live it down." She'd actually probably be sympathetic, but eventually she would not be able to resist teasing him, and he couldn't blame her. He would make fun of a pad who lost his banu like this, too.

Hours had passed and the night was quite dark. Ilyas was tired and seeing nothing resembling a trail. He didn't want to stop, but he couldn't see the point in continuing any further today. They could pick up their search when it was daylight.

"Stop for sleep?" he suggested.

Afsar
She was tired, her legs were starting to hurt, so when he looked up and talked, Afsar nodded and sighed. "...Yes. We'll look at first light tomorrow?" She didn't want to demand it. Especially not while out and about in the pride; too many eyes looking and lions judging. Shifting from paw to paw, she had to do this. Walking up to Ilyas, she nuzzled under his chin and sighed softly. There would be no joy in their den tonight, she knew, and there would be no relaxing until they knew what happened to her.

"I'm sorry, Ilyas..."
PostPosted: Fri Mar 25, 2011 7:16 am

Ilyas
The swirled lion shifted around his beybanu and licked her nose affectionately, saying to her, "Don't be sorry. This is not your fault in any way. If anything, it's mine for being less discerning when choosing my banu. I was tired of being in the rogue lands and I missed you and I just wanted to come home and have you as my beybanu. I wasn't thinking."

He lay down in the grass where they were, deciding that they would spend the night in the rogue lands. Something new and different, a treat he had hoped to share with Afsar under different, better circumstances. Instead she got to make her first trip into them to look for a missing banu. He felt like an utter failure. And he doubted they would find Itzel. She had too much of a head start already.

"First light will probably wake us anyway," he pointed out. "So we may as well look tomorrow, too. But then we'll have to head back to the pride."

He would probably spend some days outside of the pride looking for Itzel on his own, but he knew he couldn't be gone for too long with Afsar. He would have to leave her in his father's care for those few days.

Afsar
She wasn't really comfortable with the concept of sleeping out of the pride, but in order to find her, they must. Laying down next to him, pressing her side to his, Afsar laid her head on her paws and thought about what he said. So, to her and any female, it was partially her fault. He'd hurried because of her. It was flattering, of course, but at the same time it made her sad. Maybe she should help him find his next Banu. Someone who didn't make her uncomfortable to talk too. She had never known what to say with Itzel.

With a sigh, she shifted so her cheek was resting on her paw, staring at Ilyas before frowning again. ".....Well... Maybe now... we can both look for a new Banu for you."

Was it too soon to think about that? Ugh, this situation hurt her brain and made her second guess herself. Usually she was so confident.

Ilyas
Ilyas nodded, not thinking about the fact that she probably couldn't see him lying as she was, so he added a grunt of agreement.

"I will certainly take your preferences into account. I should have asked before I left the first time, but...Mostly I was too preoccupied with whether you'd refuse me."

Alone in the rogue lands, Ilyas actually felt slightly more comfortable telling Afsar these things. In the Ukuucha'Wafalme, a pad didn't behave like that, wasn't supposed to be sentimental, but outside he felt more free to express himself, even if it was not the sort of expression a pad ought to use.

"Tomorrow you can start making a list of things you're looking for, all right? Right now, I just want to sleep." A part of him hoped that if he went to sleep, when he woke up this would all be some surreal dream.

Afsar
A smile was brought to her face at that, and only grew bigger as she remembered that conversation. Oh, how they'd made fools of themselves that day. she nodded to his sleeping comment and got comfortable on her side. Or as comfortable as she could in a strange place. "...See you in the morning."

She closed her eyes and tried so hard to sleep. Her mind was racing, however. Afsar could only imagine how hard it would be for Ilyas to sleep if it was taking her this long. Still, she would eventually fall asleep.
