Well. Obviously something was up with the school, which is now right in front of you. Possibly that something is important. But do you really, after all this, want to go back into a school? In this place?!

The OOC

Your student has finally reached the path's destination, it's up to you whether or not they take part in the next stage. But not going through it will affect their ability to participate in the final chapters of Part 1.

Play Rules and Info:

Think of this as a bit of a cyoa game ~

- please state your student's HP when you enter
- there are 3 stages (+ entrance)
- each full stage will give you a choice and 12 hours for you character to make that choice
- unfortunate choices or not posting will lead to the loss of HP
- you only need to post once, with your student ICly making their choice IN BOLD.
- but please don't feel you have to stop there, and continue to rp using the area descriptions provided!
- you can break off into PRPs within this area as well, but please include "SCHOOL" in the title
- at the end of each stage, the results of your choices will be revealed and your student will be able to move on

At the entrance of the school you see a nice-sized map of the first floor. It looks like someone's helpfully decided to mark off closed areas.

Stage 2 results
After searching (and destroying) a good portion of the school, you've found the administration office impenetrable, and yourselves back in front of the gym doors. The demolitions group came out looking a bit singed around the edges, but no one's on fire or has lost any limbs. Looks like a little caution goes a long way! Unfortunately, the lockers weren't the only areas that were booby trapped, and whoever hid the keys in the wall had a mean streak. The toxic gas was immediately noticeable, but by the time they went back outside, students were coughing and walking funny. The only lucky aspect was that the gas had so afr only caused nausea and dizziness, so nobody died from it. Yet.

- explosives: your clothes may not thank you, but you only lost 1 hp
- classrooms: you've lost 3hp but gained a healthy respect for CONSTANT VIGILANCE
- no choice: -4 hp

Stage 3 start

So here you are. Two sets of keys. One lock. The odds are definitely in your favour. You try one key after the other, and it takes awhile, but one finally slides home. And fails to turn. In the end, none of the keys work. You're tempted to go find a table to flip, but suddenly, above you, you hear hear something. Laughter. Or rather, the hysterical cackle of one fairly insane individual. Looking up you see...

stage 1 results
Beyond a note and a lot of clutter, the school doesn't seem to produce much of real use or interest.

The lockers that would open varied between empty, cluttered, and disgusting, though the one with the voice (a radio of sorts?) was a bit curious. Unfortunately for those students looking through them, a couple of the lockers were discovered to be booby trapped. Nothing fatal, though that could just be due to the noxious gasses and small explosives being a bit past their expiration date. What kind of school was this again?!

The classrooms were pretty standard, and the west wing could almost be called boring. The east wing seemed pretty similar, that is...until bugs began streaming out of the airvents. For several minutes the air turned a shiny, writhing black as thousands of them flew out the door to the courtyard, toward the gymnasium. More than a few didn't make it that far, as getting lodged in student mouths, noses, ears, and clothes proved unhealthy for both them and the students.

-west wing: nothing happened
- east: the bugs have cause a loss of 2hp
- lockers: though the worst of the booby traps were dodged you still lost 1hp
- did not choose: -3hp

stage 2
Between the bugs and the radio, what you're looking for may be in the gymnasium. If you go out and check it, the map proves to be accurate: the thing is definitely locked and holding firm. The doors are scorched and pocked, looking as if someone had tried blasting it open to no avail. There is, however a keyhole.

Your Choices:

It's possible something was missed in searching the classrooms. You decide to go back over them with a fine tooth comb. By turning a bust around in room 104, you find that the back of the head is broken in, a note card rests inside. In room 102, a poster of a calculator and key descriptions has a small hole beside the enter key, a small glint can be seen through it. By tearing the poster back, you find a set of keys labeled "spare."

Uninterested in searching the classes again, you decide to make use of some of the more dangerous lockers. Looking more carefully a few of them, you see a few that were booby trapped but didn't go off when opened. Probably the explosives were dead...but...it wouldn't hurt to try? (Yeah right.) And even though it looked like the gym door couldn't be blasted...maybe one of the closed off doors?
Turns out:
-the explosives work
-the girls' bathroom is equally as disgusting as the boys'
-the supply closet only contains a single pack of gum
-the janitor had a set of keys labeled "spare"

Stage 1

Its such a still, dead building that the echo of your footsteps seem jarringly loud. But overall...the building was nothing special...it may be better than the fog, but maybe you were mistaken. Maybe there was nothing significant here afterall. Then again, if the only choices were to explore the school or go back out into the fog, it wasn't like there was any more promising options.

Your Choices

Explore the East Wing
The boy's bathroom is open. Those who've ever visited the other bathroom would feel a wave of nostalgia at the crusted and crumbling walls, broken mirrors, sinks that spew red muck, and the empty stall that always feels like it has someone in it (but only because the toilet's full of bugs.)
The infirmary has no useful medical items, no matter how hard you search or what logic you try to apply to the situation. The bed looked nice until someone sat on it, and dirty moisture started seeping through the sheets.
Room 104 looks like it may have been an art room of sorts. Mannequins, busts, and odd sculptures litter the area.
Room 105 was definitely a science room, but its sinks and lab tables very much resemble the boy's bathroom. The walls are covered in dissection posters covered in grime and faded with age, but what you can see looks awfully...familiar. Once again, logic may tell you that a useful health item or chemical weapon hides here, good luck with that.

Explore the West Wing
Room 101 has been stripped bare except for its neatly arranged desks and the podium at the front. Out of all the rooms in the building, this one looks the most recently used. The corner of a piece of paper sticks out slightly from one of the desks. It looks like it had been taped there.
The various equations and proofs that line the wall indicate that Room 102 was for math. Though erased, you can tell that the last picture drawn on the blackboard has been fairly...lewd.
Room 103 is completely empty.

Explore the lockers
The lockers that line the hallways are seen in varying stages of abuse. Some almost look normal, while others are missing doors, emit odd smells, and/or look like something very solid was bashed into them very hard. Near the western exit, you can hear a soft crackling sound coming from locker 110. sssst.....sss.....pop! ssssssstttt......shhhh.....secured....the gymnasium...sssshhhhhhhhhhsssttttt

The locker itself is locked firmly.

A school.

Hmph.

Really? West looked up at the desolate building, brows furrowed with incredulity. At least Christmas Town had possessed the decency to try to kill them with mountains and giant robots. This place had probable airborne hallucinogens and a school. He stared at the place some more. While most of the structures he had passed seemed ready to collapse under their own weight, this one didn't look like it was going to fall down around him if he went inside. He inched closer to the entrance, eventually spotting a raggedy piece of paper nearby. The wrath demon looked around for his fellow students, then snatched the thing. He squinted at it, making his way inside as he did so.

"I've gone from one school to another."

He couldn't help but sigh at that thought.

This school has definitely seen better days, as it looked like it was ransacked many times. But the foundation still looked more solid than the ones they passed by to get here, and even more colorful to boot. There was writing. It was everywhere, manic scribbling of a few who were in here at one point in time. He fully expected the floorboard to creak as he walked in, maybe even to give way under his foot. It was surprisingly solid and in well condition. West wasn't that far away so he crept up to him and looked at the paper in his hands. "Ya found something interesting?" he quipped at the bloke, wondering what was running through his head.

Wherever West went Savior followed, simple enough. She'd need to stay with this group for now if they were to survive the onset of the Marrowstripes and she was their best defense. It also didn't hurt that she still thought of West as her mother, seeing as he was the first thing she saw when she woke up, so protecting him and following him was practically ingrained into her entire being.

It was with hesitation though that she entered into the building through the same door as the other two, save for the fact that she left a few seconds of time between them so as to see if something would happen. Survival was a priority to the monster and she wasn't about to risk injuring herself this early into anything if she could help it.

"Wessst." Her call was plaintive and almost whining, producing a rather grating sound thanks to the effects of her voice.

"Yeah'ere," he said, offering the dirty slip of paper to Damien. "Jus'someone bitchin'." Now that he was mostly free of the stifling weight of unfounded paranoia, West felt as close to excellent as he had since he had been flung from R.A.G.E. He raised his arms above his head and stretched, not even caring that the right one throbbed uncomfortably.

When the Marrowstripe called his name, he turned back toward the door. "Savior. Over 'ere." The ghoul still sounded upset. West supposed that if she really wanted, he would let her ride on his shoulders again.

Not wanting to lose the group at all Holly followed the rest through the same door they used and entered the school. She grinned at Damien. "Seriously, though nice they have a map of the place." And seriously creepy. Marked off areas?

As soon as Damien finished seeing the paper she snatched it from him. "Huh." Holly had walked in the door right behind Savior and took the other ghoul's arm gently and pointed her in West's direction. "That way. She really has a liking to ya West."

Jove trotted up the dusty old school, dutifully shepherding his companions taking in all the details that had been obscured at a distance. The paint peeling, the wood old and hollow-looking, even the weeds growing thickly between the paving stones. It looked very abandoned, like there hadn't been a soul who set foot inside for a great long time. Except for some fresh footprints. The pup could smell citrus most strongly, and... a scent he couldn't quite pin down, that would have belonged to the other doglike student who had entered in before him.

There were no threatening scents or sounds, so Jove tentatively peeked his head inside, and then took a couple steps past the threshold. Immediately his glowing eyes began searching for a good place to hide until Seiji's shout. What a weird thing to use as a safety word, Jove thought to himself, frowning as he took another couple steps into the building.

Aurian entered the school grounds, close behind Holly, West, Saviour and Damien. The buildings here seemed less damaged than the rest of the town, though they were still in a state of disrepair. Aurian guessed that no one had been a student here for a while.

The piece of notepaper caught her attention. Crouching down, she read through it. She frowned. "Graduation... rewards...? Worth all of what?" It just left her more confused. "Do you guys think it has something to do with what happened to the town?"

She looked up when no answer came, to find that the others had kept moving. The note dropped back to the ground as Aurian leapt to her feet and chased after the others. "Guys, wait up!" she called. Passing through the entrance doors to the school, she skidded to a half behind her little group.

There seemed to be several places that they could go from here. Aurian wasn't taking any of them until the group was ready to move on, she decided. Maybe there'd be some clues as to what lay off in what direction or building.

"A map?" West asked, peering past Holly. "Weird. There's'an infirm'ry." He pointed. "I dunno if anyone got'urt in th'fog..." The demon looked around. Everyone here seemed fairly intact. Well, maybe that ghost kid from the beach that just slunk in looked a little scuffed, but West doubted the boil would let him come within five feet of him, let alone patch him up.

He snorted at Holly's comment. "I think mine's th'only name sh'knows. 'Cept guess sh'knows yours now too, huh." He smirked. "Horrrieee."

The sudden arrival of Aurian made West jump a bit, but he managed to hide it well, until he started talking, at least. "Hey, uh, Aurian. Glad t'see yer eyes... aren't... glowin.'" For now the demon was content to stay right where he was until someone else suggested otherwise. He had really done way too much leading on this trip and it was starting to grate. He didn't like leading. It was so... leadery.

Passing through the school doors, she felt something a lot to be like a cold shiver run down her back. Though it was a school, this place gave her the creeps. Dropping her belongings at her feet, she took a seat on the ground, waiting for the others to follow after. Er.. It probably wasn't best of her to run ahead.. Oh well. Its not like she ran too far ahead. Hell, the school was in their sights, and she was just on the other side of the wall, so in a way, she was still in view---but not? Whatever. She wasn't going anywhere.

He took the offhand paper from the disgruntled boil and gave it a quick look through. Huh, maybe it was from somebody that went mad in this school. It was possible considering all the other scratchings around the hall. he didn't dwell on it long as holly came up behind him and snatched it away to take a peek for herself and gave his arms another stretch or get rid of the kinks after savior whooped him. "You should give her a piggyback ride around the school, Wessst" pointing his thumb at the Marrowstripe that was so attached to him and giving him a playful smirk. It was nice to see that horrid yellow tint leave their eyes, that they weren't an illusion.

And there were different paths to take in this school, he brushed past West and took a couple of steps ahead of the group, just a few to see if his eyes could catch anything moving in the distance, green orbs scouting left and right and back again. But not even a draft went by. He did give a sniff to the air to see if they weren't alone.
And the scent of a canine was drifting softly.
His tail was swishing at the thought of a fellow dog as he looked around for the person. Would it be friendly or try to n** at him? He gave a glace at Aurian, she wasn't that far behind as she took a look at the paper as well, understandably she had her own concerns. "It just might, but its far too early to tell, maybe this place has more information." he told her thoughtfully as he walked back up to the group. this place was pretty different from the other buildings they passed by.

"The map has a few places marked off as open, maybe we could investigate one of the rooms?" He wasn't much of a leader, but if there was a task to scout ahead and gather intel, that was well within his reach. He went to lean against a scratched up wall with a crying face in red as he hoped the others had a better idea, or even a hunch to go on.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 23, 2011 9:57 pm

Holly nodded and pointed to the wall where the map was. "Nice and handy huh? I did..." Ugh she disliked admitting she was hurt. It was odd really since she was kind of dead. "Though I doubt their infirmary could help me." Candlejacking reaper things!

"Yeah guess she learned it somehow, did you just...?" No he didn't! Holly stomped the few steps towards West and hit him in the arm, as hard as she could. She wasn't worried about him hitting her and if she did well she'd just dish it back. Although she was slightly worried about hitting him with Savior watching. Hopefully she wouldn't take offense to the little bit of violence.

She glared at him and then went to look the map over. Glowing eyes? She wasn't the only one seeing that? Or had been seeing it. Everyone looked normal again. Well as normal as they could look.

With the help of Seiji and Mei, Bul was able to make it into the "safe vicinity" of the school. He looked upon the grafiti and gulped slightly. There was very little doubt in his mind that he was not in a safe place... there couldn't be anything good out of this but perhaps the return of their sanity. Not that it could ever fully return after this trip.

Bul looked around to all the others who had decided to enter the school and made a note of every single one of them. These boils and ghouls.. they were here to help. None of them were part of the cloaks and he needed to reassure himself that this was the absolute truth.

"Whatever happens here... well.. happens I guess.." he said looking to his friends.
