::Trading Guide!::
This is the trading guide- and if you have ANY questions or want something clarified, this guide will expand. Remember: You don't ask, I can't make this better! Thanks.
::The RP::The beginning paragraphs where the trader is introduced- is not terribly important, except to get us all in the mood for some trading. ^__^
::The Breakdown Box::That's the box there at the bottom that says 'This is a Trading Opportunity'. It will always be mentioned when trading is available and when it is not. Whenever one of these is posted, the page number will be linked on the front page under 'trading opportunities'. As we continue and get the hang of this, there may be overlapping trading opportunities- for ex, coming into a trading port.
The breakdown box is important, because it gives you the info you need to make a good decision as to trading.
::Reliability of the Trader::This tells you what your chances are of getting a quality item- or rather, just getting what the trader says you're getting. He may think he's selling junk and actually has something really great- so don't always let this reliability rating determine whether you trade or not.
(However, be aware that less reliable traders often hike up prices- so you may buy something at one only to find down the road that his/her price was exorbitant! You'll get the hang of this as well. ^_^)
::Item Vouch::This tells you how you can handle the items. Verbal Descriptions mean you can ask the trader to describe it/give you info about where they got it, etc. Personal Handling means you can use it, as well. This usually applies with magical items- so you can make sure they work. (Or rather, all you have to do is give a short post "My gypsy picks it up" and then I'll put a post as to what it did. ^_^) But this time I wanted you to get the hang of it, so you can personally handle the objects. (Ie, if you say you unrolled the blanket, I'll post as to whether or not it has holes in it, etc.)
Other ways to Item Vouch: High-reliability traders may have certificates of authenticity, and sometimes you can 'Ask Valelldia' as a vouch. Only if it's listed as an option, however.
::Currency::This determines how you can pay for it. Gold couplets option is just that- you use the couplets you have earned. Haggling is when you try to get the price down- but caution- some traders don't like a lot of haggling. (Listed: some haggling, moderate haggling, severe haggling, etc.)
Other ways to pay: Trade. This means you can offer items you have gotten in trades before. For example, if you buy a blanket, then next trade, for all you know, the trader will WANT that blanket. ..And note: don't think that just because something isn't magical, that it won't come in handy. I almost always have a reason for putting up what I do for trade.
::Item Appearances::Self-explanatory. Gives you a basic idea of what there is on first sight, and the trader's first price offer.
Other stuff::Q: What can I do with what I've received in trade?
A: You can either use it in rp- like a dagger or a toy for your child (and it may end up in their older stages as well, if they're very attached to it)... or it may be an object which grants you a magical ability or talent- which can also be used in rp, and will become part of your character(s). Or, it may just be something you've strategically bought so that you can use it later in your trades to get better items, or things you actually can use.
Q: Can I buy something WITH someone else? Pool our gold?
A: Yup. ^_^ But then you'll both own it.
Q: Can I trade with the other people in the caravan? Amongst ourselves?
A: Y'sure can.
Q: But what if two of us want the same item?
A: First come first serve. But then that person will have it, and you can try to get it from 'em by trading, etc.
