Dream Dancers is a sister shop to TurnOut, another horse shop specializing in domestic horses. Kinda weird, a fantasy horse shop and a domestic horse shop on different lineart being sisters, but the two shops have always been very close. Anywho, as a gesture of sisterhood, we will allow for cross-shop breeding once every year in December. Yup, that's right, Dream Dancer Stars can breed with TurnOut horses, increasing the gene pool, the customers in both shops, the activity level...and allowing for PLOTS. Interested? Since the shops are rather different in many respects, including different staff, different lineart, and different themes, Dream Dancers and TurnOut exist in parallel universes. These universes have a gate between them only during the wintertime. As a result, there are the following facts of life the Stars and horses will have to face:
- Lifemating will not be possible; the emotional pain of being separated from a lifemate for 9 - 11 months of the year is too much, unless your pet is a masochist. These breedings will be flings.
- Parents may not be lifemated before the crossbreeding, since the breeding will count in both shops (thankfully, neither shop has decided to opt for breeding limits). Besides, no one likes their mate cheating on them with a stranger from another world.
- The price will be 20k total, regardless of edits, sent to the colorist.
- These breedings will be primarily for plot. To keep that in mind, for a Star to crossbreed, the Star must: be an RP elder; complete 5 RPs before slots open; and prove that the breeding fulfills a plot in some way.
- Stars who do not fulfill the requirements before slots open will be ineligible to participate.
- The lineart of the foal will depend on who is coloring the breeding; colorists working in both DD and TO will CC the foals' shop.
- Not all colorists will participate, but we will announce and keep a regularly updated list of participating colorists; the customers breeding their Stars and horses get to choose their colorist. When listing preferences, please only list participating colorists whom you'd like to do your breeding.
Savvy on all of this? We're going to be firm on crossbreeding: it is a privilege, not a right. The two shops are in parallel universes and rather different, a state of affairs we intend to keep. If we adjust the rules for this year, we will announce it when we announce crossbreedings for the year. ^^

In crossing normal horses with fantasy horses, it's fair to assume we'll get some interesting crosses. ^^ Sooo, with that in mind, here's a few notes for how crosses will work.
- All foals have a 50% chance of being a completely normal horse/Starborn Star.
- Breed throwbacks will not be available, for simplicity's sake. All horses from TO will be assumed to be normal horses.
The below chart is for foals who are not going to be normal horses/Starborn.
- Horse x Starborn: Foals will be completely normal.
- Horse x Arcturus: DD foals will be Arcturai, TO foals will have a unicorn horn
- Horse x Arion: DD foals will be Arions like their DD parents, TO foals will have monarch butterfly wings
- Horse x Lyra: DD foals will be Lyra, TO foals will have smaller wings incapable of flight
- Horse x Nova: DD foals will be Novae, TO foals will have fins
- Horse x Algiedi: DD foals will be Algiedi, TO foals will have ram horns and a goat tail; Adults only
- Horse x Solara: DD foals will be Solara, TO foals will have spikes and a reptilian tail; Unavailable
Breeds that are not available in DD will not be included in the crossbreeding. Announcements of dates will be after Halloween in both shops each year.
Alcor breedings are classed by the type of Star they are. No sister shop cross foal will be an Alcor. Alcors are very rare, and something about the magic in their blood makes it impossible for any children they have with a horse to be capable of shapeshifting.
