Jack squinted lightly as he drifted through the shallows, awash in the light of the afternoon sun. Usually he didn't come out until night had begun to fall, but today the little seathi fancied a bask in the sun, and perhaps a search for some of the delicacies that he could sometimes find in the reef and tide pools. It was a beautiful day out for such a venture, even though he really only liked to come out at night, when it was nice and cool. The sun was shining, and there were a few fluffy white clouds drifting far overhead.

The lagoon was calm and as still as glass as he made his way into it, and up toward the tide pools. Only the soft breeze made ripples in the water, and he stopped for a moment to pluck up a mouthful of sea grass before continuing along his way. The lagoon had a small reef in it, and where it met the shore, the tide pools started, before flattening out into the sandy expanse of the beach. It was a lovely place, safe and quiet, a good home for Wijit and himself. Today he went unaccompanied by the dolphin, but that was alright for today. Reaching the edge of the pools, he swam up and slide through the rocks, laughing softly to himself as he nipped at one of the sea anemones.

User ImageIt was afternoon the clouds had made her lose her way just a little, and now coming to rest beside the waters, she felt a wave of panic as her hooves sunk into the sand. Her yellow eyes glowed, and the fear was all too apparent on her features. She took a deep breath and collapsed far enough from the waters edge that she wouldn't think of it sneaking up and grabbing her. The mare scowled at the water, "Nasty creatures, mean vile waters." She murmered to herself as she tried to figure her direction out. This was an inlet, something small, but it still scared the willies out of her. Not that the mare would ever actually admit to anyone that she was frightened of water. No sir, she'd rather eat her own tail than admit that she was scared of large terrifyingly deep expanses of water that held nasty things that could eat a Soquili in seconds, or drown it without any thought.

She sighed, "Pull yourself together, it's over there and you're on land. You're fine." She was trying very hard to quell her nervous nature, but there was no helping it as she glared out over the waters, "It's just a gigantic puddle, nothing more. It's not some creature waiting to eat me. I don't need to be wary of the water, just what's lurking in it." With that, the mare slowly slunk up to the waters edge peering into the depths to see what could be lurking below, from a safe distance as not to get caught that is, "See, pointless fear." She chuckled to her reflection.

Jack was munching on one of the colorful, tender anemone when he spied the shape a ways off, wandering towards the water. He gawked for a moment and his little heart leapt in his chest. Was it an in-lander? It had been ages since he'd seen one. They were such massive creatures, all legs and no fins to speak of! He had to investigate.

He darted up and used his forelegs to pull himself part way onto a rock, where he could see her plainly a good ways off, peering into the edge of one of the many pools that spanned the lagoon. "Hey!! Hello!" he called out, heeding to no kind of caution at all. Even of she was dangerous, it would be all to easy to plop back into the water and swim away. Besides, he'd not yet met an in-lander that had sought to cause him harm. They were such a spectacle that he liked to try to talk to every one he saw. "Over here!" he added as he tried to get the mare's attention.

Her ears twitched with the sounds that were going on around her. She blinked a bit at the 'hello' she heard. Was it all in her head? Or had she actually heard something? She was going to ignore it till the voice came again, glancing over she blinked. It was a tiny soquili, with fish like markings on it, yelling and soaking wet.

Alinea's thoughts switched to something odd, either it was a small soquili stuck in the water, or it was one of those little sea soquili she'd heard of. Nothing wagered, nothing lost. She idled a few moments then wandered over to where the small creature was, yellow pupils against black glowing a bit, "You seem awfully friendly small thing." Her tone was somewhat curious but still held the demeanor of being a little cruel. She wasn't in a good mood still, but maybe this oddly whimsical and soaked little guy could lighten her mood. Especially with all the water around.

Jack laughed as he saw he'd caught her attention. Yes! Some otherworldly company! He flopped back in the water and resurfaced before she'd reached the pool he was hanging out in, pulling himself back up onto the rock. "Hello there!" he said again as she walked up, and laughed softly at her comment. "That's because I am friendly. Why wouldn't I be?" he tilted his head, gazing up at her, seeming undaunted by her size.

"What's your name? I haven't seen in-landers on this beach in forever!" he cried, obviously excited.

She shook her head a little at the cheerfulness of the much smaller almost tiny soquili of the waters. She smirked a bit his demeanor was possibly infectious, but it was better than being in a sour mood all day.

"Alinea. Pronounced Ah-ly-nay. You can call me Ali for short if you like. Seems to have become a nickname for me from a few others I've run into." She shrugged shifting her wings a bit, "And on that topic of not many visiting here, I wouldn't be anywhere near water if I hadn't gotten a bit side tracked and lost while flying." She sighed, "I take it this place is a bit secluded so most land bound soquili don't come around?" Talking was distracting her from her distaste for water, so she was quite happy with that, though unsure as to why a small thing like him would be so...happy about seeing an "in-lander" as he'd termed it. Weren't most seathi just happily living below the water living in colonies of their own...or water herds? Something? She shook her thoughts to listen to his replies, rather than be lost in his own thoughts.
