Ilyas
The den felt empty with Farrah gone. Ilyas couldn't believe how profound the emptiness was. And it wasn't that Itzel and Afsar weren't excellent company, either. He just simply missed his family. The ones related by blood.

He didn't want to go bother Farrah so soon after she'd gone with her new pad. That seemed like it would be invading their privacy. The two of them deserved some time alone together. At least as much alone time as they could manage with Rana around also. He knew from experience that it wasn't always easy to rid oneself of banu for privacy's sake.

Anyway, he decided the easiest way to get his fix of family would be to go home to visit. He had younger siblings there that he'd not seen in a while anyway. He had been remiss.

Arezoo
Lying next to the watering hole that the pride used as their main source of water, the blue marked female dozed peacefully. The sun was beginning to be at its warmest, and she just laid there, stretched out and enjoying the time she got.

Sure she wasnt around father or her siblings much anymore, though it was no secret that father and her siblings were too busy to ever return to the den.. That, and her brothers had moved on, getting Banus of their own. She envied their ability to find love and make a family.. Though she hadnt heard much about them lately. She wasnt even sure how they were doing. At one time she knew everyones buisness, she was always watching. But the older she got, the more she grew tired of watching the happiness. She wanted that for herself!

But she was sleeping, lost deep in dreams that she would never understand and likely never remember. She kicked at the sand, mumbling something before her body stopped moving except for hte rise and fall of her chest.

Ilyas
The first thing to greet Ilyas when he came home was the sight of one of his younger sisters sprawled in sleep. A good older brother, he didn't have to think hard to recall her name or match it to her face and figure, even though it had been some time since last he had seen her. Arezoo who liked to be called Zoey.

He did hate to disturb her slumber, but she was also rather inconveniently placed and he couldn't actually get into the den without either jumping over her, which would be risky, or stepping on her. He didn't think she would enjoy the second option, and the first option would really be very unpleasant for him if he misjudged even a little, since he would then hit his head on the ceiling.

"Zoey," he said, nudging her with one paw. "Could you possibly move your blue bottom so that I can come in?"

Arezoo
She hadnt realized in her sleep she had sprawled across the den. She had just been peacefully minding her own while her family was out. However once the voice touched her ears, she flicked one, and lifted her head.

Blinking a bit as if she was a bit incoherent from the sleep, she tried to get her wits about her. Once she felt focused, she smiled. Standing up, she padded over to her older brother and nuzzled into him. She loved her family, it was just a shame they never really knew much of each other. But she went out of her way to befriend them when she saw them, and Ilyas, well he had always been one of her favorite older brothers. He wasnt mean and he didnt pick on her -all- the time. She supposed he was pretty all right.

"I suppose I could~! But what fun would that be?" She asked, chuckling.

Ilyas
He waited for Zoey to gather her wits and her consciousness to her before he said anything more. Then, when he had done this, she spoke first, joking about what the fun to be had in being in the way.

"Personally," he teased, "I think it would be a lot of fun. That way I can come inside and you don't have to get stepped on when I do it."

He returned her nuzzlings with an affectionate lick on the ear. She had grown so much, but she was still so small. It was hard to believe that she was such a petite little lioness. He reminded himself that she wasn't quite an adult yet, and so she still had some growth left in her. He'd been a while about growing up, too, when he was her age. His coming of age quest had been just what he needed to facilitate his growing up. It was a pity there wasn't some sort of equivalent for the banu of the pride.

"How have you been? It's been ages since last I saw you. You were still a cub, it seems, and now you're nearly grown up." A thought occurred to him. "You must be giving some thought to pads by now. Anyone in particular caught your eye?"

Nosy? Sure. But why not? She was his sister. It was his job as an older brother to pry.

Arezoo
She smiled, taking the lick to her ear as a sign of greeting and pulled away to look at him. He had grown alot since she had last seen him. He had been an adolescent, and now here he was, towering over her with a mane as full as could be.

Chuckling, she nodded. She supposed that being stepped on really wasnt that appealing. He was probably heavy, and she didnt feel like being squished by her big brother when he chose to visit. Though she almost felt bad that he showed up now.. Her father and the banu were out, if that was who he was looking for. But she still reveled in the fact that she was getting to spend time with her brother.

"Ive been good! Or, I like to think so anyway. Im alive, breathing, and happy." SHe said, though the happy part was tested here and again. Lately her emotions had been a rollercoaster of a ride and she just wasnt sure what was going on with her lately. She assumed it was maybe because she hadnt found anyone yet, or at least, anyone she thought was worthy.

"You were gone for a long time. You need to come see us more often," She said, her voice soft as she looked up at him. She had begun to wonder if she even -had- what others considered family. She was always alone it seemed.

She didnt mind him being nosy, even if he was a male that she likely shouldnt speak so openly to. She wasnt sure if the rule extended towards brothers, and she assumed it wasnt.. But still.

She shook her head a bit sadly.

"No, I dont have anyone that you could call a suitor.. I have a friend, and thats about it.. But hes my best friend." She said, knowing full well it was a bit unorthadox for her to befriend a male of the pride.

Ilyas
"I would visit more often," he said, and then added with a wink, "but I'm kept very busy by my banu."

He didn't follow that up with an "if you know what I mean" because that would have been completely inappropriate, and he was already pushing the bounds of indelicacy just by mentioning being kept busy by his banu. You didn't really talk to banu, particularly not younger siblings, about things like that as a pad.

"And this friend. He's your age? Older? Younger?" He couldn't help asking. Their father was a vizier and that brought a certain responsibility when it came to who they were seen to be keeping company with. He wasn't going to pass judgment on her friendship with someone of the opposite sex. He and Afsar had been friends since cubhood, more or less in defiance of the pride's official stance on the subject.

"Is he a good sort of person?"

Arezoo
When he mentioned he was busy with his banu, she couldnt help but bust out laughing. Nudging him with her paw, her eyes lit up. She needed a good laugh now and then, it wasnt often enough that she laughed from the heart. She nodded, supposing she understood even if she had no direct experience with the subject.

She had been ready to talk about his banu, but then he changed the subject and brought it back around to her prior statement about having a male friend. She chuckled, and blushed a little. What would Ilyas think of her for befriend a pad? Would he be like the rest and think her completely strange and wrong? She hoped not. She longed for approval, even if it was only from her family. She wanted to be told she was doing well, not that she had befriended the wrong gender.

"Hes a little younger. I first met him around my older cub days." She said with a nod, remembering meeting the cub when she was a juvenile. But now he had seemed to have a growth spurt that had made him grow like a weed. He even looked older than her sometimes if she looked at him enough. But he was getting ready to leave, and she wasnt sure if that was why she was so depressed lately. Who would be her friend when he left? And it didnt help he would return with a banu to keep him busy. She likely wouldnt have him as a friend anymore and she sighed.

"Hes a good guy to me. Some people think hes a bit hard minded.. But hes always been kind to me." She said, her voice holding the slightest hint of dreamy and sadness.

Ilyas
"It's good for a pad to be able to be hard-minded, as you put it. It means we can make the difficult decisions and leave you lovely banu free to relax without worrying your pretty heads about anything." He said this with a hint of a smirk. He knew the banu in his family, at least, were all of them smarter than they looked.

"I'll only ask one more question about him, and then I'll stop prying, all right?" Ilyas said, recognizing that he was not enough of a part of Zoey's life to really have any right to just waltz in and start asking her personal questions. Big brother or not. "Do I know the guy?"

After that, he could probably narrow things down a bit on his own to figure out who he was and whether he was good enough to be friends with Zoey. And if he wasn't, Ilyas wasn't above putting in a few well-chosen words and intimidating stares to convince him that maybe he ought to find a new friend, and not raise his sights so high as the vizier's daughter.

Arezoo
She liked when he didnt read her the riot act for being friends with Mirsa. It made her respect him all the more though she respected him anyway.. She just liked that she could be her, and he didnt care. But she listened to his words and nodded.

She could be the smart one, she was okay worrying because she had more than just a pretty face. She had a brain and her problem was that she used it. As a cub she had sort of followed everyones ideals, and as she aged she had picked up her own. However not everyone really agreed, she wasnt doing anything that was going to harm anyone.

She nodded when he mentioned asking another question, what could it hurt? Unless he asked if she wanted to be his banu. She wasnt sure she wanted to answer that question. If she had said yes, then the desire would be there.. If she kept the thoughts locked away, then she couldnt miss what she never had when it never happened.

But when he asked if he knew him she cringed. He was a Tariq boy, and she had a feeling that her males in her family wouldnt appreciate that..

"I dont know really." SHe replied, her tail twitching nervously.

"His name is Mirsajadi, and hes my best friend." She said, adding the last part to it in hopes if he didnt like the guy, he'd keep that in mind.

Ilyas
If lions were the sort of creatures to face-palm, Ilyas would have been doing that. Of all the possible pads and pesars in the pride, his little sister would decide to befriend a son of Tariq'ra'd. Not by his beybanu or anything like that, but just the same. There was nothing that dark lion touched which didn't turn to the bad or the crazy. Zoey made it sound as though he wasn't so bad, which meant he had to be crazy. Crazy like Tariq'ra'd was definitely not a good thing, Ilyas thought. But he managed not to say any of that.

"I've actually met him twice," Ilyas said. "Though he doesn't remember the first time. He seems to be a very...polite young lion."

Painfully so, actually. The first time he'd met Mirsajadi the other vizier's son had been young enough that walking looked to be a challenge for him still, and yet he had known exactly the right words for introducing himself to a strange pesar. At the time Ilyas had just taken it for a family oddity, but having met more members of the family in the time between meetings, Ilyas had decided that Mirsjadi, at least, used good manners as a way to make people uncomfortable. Which shouldn't have even been possible.

"I actually had some news for father. Is he around?" he asked, changing the subject as he had promised he would.

Arezoo
She caught the slight twitch whenever she had said Mirsa's name. She had watched enough of the pride to know alot of their reactions to things. They were like characters in her movie, and she had to know everything they did. Ilyas tended to twitch whenever he didnt like something, but he usually kept it to himself, or at least he did if he could. If it was beyond his control, still he was polite. She smiled, nodding when he said he had met Mirsa twice.

Though if Mirsa didnt remember the first encounter it was likely because he was much too young. She liked to think that she knew Mirsa well, and she just felt that he remembered everything. He almost had a bionic type mind in the way that he thought things out. It was easy to tell when he was annoyed, though usually it involved him being even MORE polite than he was being before. She knew he used it as a tool, but she didnt mind..

"I dont think so.. Father and the banus are out enjoying the day, I think.. They dont like staying around the den much anymore, so its usually just little ol' me." She said with a nod.

Ilyas
Ilyas nodded. He couldn't fault his father for wanting to go out and spend time with his banu. He would be doing something similar in the near future, he expected. He had just wanted to get his fix of family and let his father know that Farrah had found a home with a permanent pad. He still wasn't actually sure how that conversation would go, since he'd never been in the position of granting a pad permission to take away one of his banu before. He hoped it wasn't one of those things where he ought to have asked his father first.

"All right. Thank you."

He would have bid her farewell and then turned around to make his way home, having gotten to see family, which had been his design in coming over with the secondary purpose of telling Faiz the news about Farrah. But he didn't. Something about the way Zoey mentioned being on her own in the den made him feel sorry for her and so spoke on, smiling.

"If you don't mind, I'll stay to keep you company for a while. I don't really spend too much time here lately, as you said, and I'm behind in all the news. I know you notice everything." His own banu could get by without him for an afternoon.

When Zoey nodded he settled himself more comfortably and they picked up their conversation.
