Raziel sighed a little, mostly to himself as he walked off in the direction of what he hoped was an old shop with some food. Colette had talked to the other ghoul, even after her rude remarks. He had been hoping that he and Colette would just go explore and the other one would have to find someone else or risk it alone. He shook his head just slightly, trying to clear his thoughts.

At least if the other ghoul did come Raziel wouldn't be alone with her, and he could chat nicely with Colette. Looking up, Raziel tried to read the signs on the buildings, but so far they only had numbers.

"112"

"113"

"114"
he counted as he walked, "What does it all mean?" His brows furrowed together as he tried to understand. There was nothing like this in Halloween Town. Where were they?

Raziel squinted off into the distance, trying to see through the fog to the other buildings. It wasn't of any use, he could only make out shapes really. One shape stood out though, it was a box like all the others, but there was also a protrusion coming from it, as though it were meant to keep anything from falling on whoever was standing under it.

"That building looks different from most of the others, I wonder what it is. Maybe it's a shop, or a restaurant. Are you okay with checking there first? I'm awful hungry."

It really didn’t matter that Raziel couldn’t wait to see the back of Sarias. Sadly Sarias had decided she didn’t want to see the last of him. With all his huffs and puffs she had grown quite curious of the creature, why she could even go as far as calling him cute…Sarias didn’t do cute, this would not bode well.

She followed behind Colette, as near to the other ghoul as she could but still bringing a sense of violated personal space. She liked the feeling she got from students on nerves, her tendrils licked at Colette’s feet as if they dripped Fear. She even began to hum to herself, she liked this place. It was quite, peaceful, with that eerie vibe that sent shivers down her own spine.

Listening for the monster to finish his words she glanced at what he was reading. Numbers? Why was everything listed?

“I wonder where number one is?” she grumbled as she turned 360. “Number one would be the most important wouldn’t you think?” She stated to no one in particular.

At Raziel request for food she shrugged her shoulders. She didn’t need to eat, but she knew fleshies were no good on an empty stomach as well. “Yes, if you must. But make it quick!”

Fog. So much fog, it was even harder to see now. Colette squinted and tried to look at buildings for herself, wondering indeed what the numbers were for. "I have no clue, " she admitted. "I guess they just organize the buildings or something.." Maybe if they were lucky they would find a list somewhere.

Sarias being close enough to touch her made the Reaper awfully uncomfortable. Honestly, she assumed the ghoul just moved quickly, and tried to move a little faster herself to gain some space. Colette may not be having the best experience with her, but she couldn't deny that what Sarias said sort of made sense. "We should look for a number one then." There was just one problem growing in annoyance fast. "I.. I can't really see anything in this fog though." Did it get much worse since she last noticed?

Colette looked in every which direction for the building Raziel pointed out, but by now she couldn't see it. "Er.. I'm good for going in any building," she offered. "Especially if it has food." Somewhere with food was definitely a bonus. On the last field trip, she could snack on snow. Here.. there was nothing but dirt or sand.

There was one important thing to look for too -- she remembered it from that piece of paper. "We need to find some sort of signa---" Colette stopped dead in her sentence and froze, putting a finger to her lips to beg for silence seconds later. Her cocked head and turning every which way showed that she had heard something and the Reaper strained to listen. Was that.. sobbing? Crying? She was all for helping those in need, and the noise definitely caught her attention. The pleads, "Please, help. Help me. I can't bear this," followed by wails sounded close to her, and she turned in a random direction, thinking it was coming from there. "Can you hear that?" she asked before taking a hesitant step forward in the random direction, unsure if that was truly where it came from. "Someone needs help." She was anxious now. Who was it? What did they need help with? Colette was half excited she had heard it in the first place. She definitely wasn't gifted with excellent hearing like other students.

Her eyes darted back and forth as she stared into the fog, hoping to spot some sign of the person in need she was looking for. "We've got to help them," she said and turned to face her companions who had no clue of what she was talking about. Though Colette was sure of her sanity, the island and its fog had other plans.

"....What the heck are you talking about?" Sarias shouted in a huff as there was now another reason to stop them from gaining any ground. First food, now someone needed help, for un-gods sake would people stop being so needy!! If Colette's antics had Sarias worried she didn't show it, her face remained calm and composed as she watched the reaper look about, searching out the voice.

"I can't hear a thing, your imagining it!"
She hissed as all she could hear were the fleshies breathing and a slight breeze that whipped the dust from the road. Although by the look of Colette's frantic eyes she could see she had indeed heard something. She tried, for a second, to not slap some sense into the reaper and instead closed her eyes to listen. There was nothing.

Nothing.

"This is so tiresome, you obviously weak minded from lack of food! If you don't get a move on I will drag you there!" she screeched into her ear, not caring if it hurt.

"Uuuugh!" Colette huffed in exasperation. How could she not hear it? The cries and pleads were even louder now! Did Sarias have some sort of inability to hear well?! Colette turned back towards the fog and tried to squint. "How the Jack do you not hear it? THIS ISN'T FUNNY," she replied to Sarias. She just knew someone needed help, they were screaming now, not hearing it must be a blatant lie! This wasn't the time for games or whatever she was trying to do!

Colette covered her ears and winced at the screaming, both from the illusion and Sarias -- but most definitely Sarias. She was not weak minded and would not be dragged anywhere! "You're not going to touch me and --" Colette started to speak angrily and turned around to look right at the ghoul as she spoke, but what she saw stopped her and made her cringe.

"Augh!" she cried, disgusted at the vision of Sarias she now saw. Why the Jack was she pink and sparkly? "What the hell happened to you?! And -- gross! " Colette took several steps back and gaped at the rainbow colored unicorn snuggling Sarias and leaving glittering kissing on her cheek. Sarias didn't even look like she cared! As if she picked out that pink poodle dress she was all of a sudden wearing! How did this happen? Colette had only turned around for a second! That yellow smiley face and flower painted on her face was not there before either.

How the hell is Raziel doing with all this?! Did he see what she saw?! Colette turned to him with a baffled face. "How did she -- ?!" Raziel's new look disturbed Colette even more than Sarias's had, tenfold. "Holy Jack! NO!" Raziel was completely covered in stripes -- red, white, and green -- with snow on his shoulders and head as if he had been standing out in the snow for a good day! Tinsel wrapped around him like a boa and draped as if he were a tree with candy canes dangling from each level. "RAZIEL! ALL THAT JOY ON YOU!" How could he stand there as if everything was okay?! He would surely die!

Colette didn't know what to do, she was at a loss. She didn't know what happened to her friend and traveling companion, why they even looked like that, or what she was supposed to do! And then she heard it, not the cry or plead for help, but a familiar voice.

"I think it's nice, you know. The others look fine too. Rain, Alwine, Mandy, Belladonna, West -- all of them. Especially Barth. He didn't last long with all those elves, but it was lovely while he did.... think of it like a deep sleep. I'm sure he likes it." She had never heard many words from this person, but she wouldn't forget him. JingleBerry, she could envision him in her mind perfectly.

The Reaper's lip wibbled as she took in what she just heard. The Joy was here? It already got her friends? She didn't even know they were here! And Barth... why did she split from him at the crossroads? Maybe he could have be safe if she was there -- though, Raziel wasn't and she was with him now! Was she next? Colette wasn't even looking at Sarias and Raziel anymore, and she scanned the fog for any sign of JingleBerry, but with no luck of course. Damn it! Where is he?!

Then the voices of those who had been her CandyCane Lane companions flooded her head with cries of agony and the Joy they were suffering, Raziel's voice included. The only one she didn't hear was Barth's, but there were so many voices -- so much to hear and focus on -- Colette started to get a headache. All she could do was squeeze her eyes shut and cover her ears with no hope. How did she stop this?

Raziel had been too busy contemplating the numbers on the buildings and squinting off into the fog to pay attention to Sarias' comments. He was so involved in what he was doing he had even missed the beginning of Colette's frenzy. "Yes... number one would be important.. maybe..." He mumbled back at Sarias, though more so to himself.

It wasn't until Sarias' scream at Colette that Raziel finally focused back on what was at hand. Colette was hearing things? Raziel paused, trying to tune Colette and Sarias out for a moment and make sure it wasn't Bul or Mei shouting Shibbidy Yay Ha, and calling for help. After a moment of pure silence (give or take an undead and a reaper), Raziel concluded that there was no noise.

After watching for a moment, Colette continued to freak out, she was screaming about hearing something, but he couldn't hear a thing. Then all the sudden she started yelling at him, what happened to him? Raziel looked down at himself just to check that everything was the same as it always had been. Not a thing out of place. He cocked a single eyebrow at Colette before he decided to move closer to her.

Slowly. He walked up cautiously to her, and made an attempt to grab her shoulders, hold her still and get her to calm down enough to make sense. As he was doing this, something moved. Raziel didn't see it, but it caught his eye just enough that he snapped his head in the direction it had been.

"What was that?" he breathed, "Over there, did you not see that?" his voice was becoming faster, slightly more frantic. "Something... Somebody was there. WHO ARE YOU?" he called out into the thickening fog, even Colette was becoming harder to see and she was less that an arm's distance from him.

The shadow that he had seen flitting past reminded him of only one thing. The one thing that Raziel remembered the most clearly from the last field trip. Jingleberry.

Sarias gasped at the fear showing in Colette’s eyes. She could read them like a book, there was something…something on her! “Oh my goddess what is it, get it off, getitoff, getitoff!!!” She shrieked as she twisted her body this way and that, trying to catch the offending apparition. But there was nothing, just herself in her sorry excuse for a boating outfit, near of less strips of cloth.

“Uhh, you wench! I thought there was something on me! DON’T do that again!” she threatened as she walked the small distance between them, allowing Raziel to get in their first to hold on to Colette’s shoulders. She watched the scene unfold like a bad teen movie, now Raziel was acting out as if he had seen something. What the heck was this? There was no one there! She turned herself all around. All she could see were houses and fog, nothing more. But they were becoming frantic now, it was actually unnerving. Brow furrowed she reached out a hand to Raziel, gently placing it on his shoulder. “There is no one there boil.” She stated as softly as she could, if the world was turning crazy then listening to Sarias calm friendly voice certainly sealed the deal.

“Maybe they have gone mad?” she thought as she watched them. They seem to be looking out for something or someone but oblivious to each others internal demise. “Well, if I can’t talk them out of it, my hands will!” Grabbing Raziel by the shoulder she twirled him around as if this night was for dancing and with a skill born of practice slapped him around the face – soft enough to not leave a mark but still sharp to get his attention, but she wasn’t finished there! With a lean she sent a back hand across the cheeks of Colette, the slap sounding in the night.

“Will you two pull it together NOW!! I am not babysitting you both, so if you don’t shut the hell up you won't be the only one screaming for help!”

The shadow was still moving, darting left and right, just far enough away that Raziel could only speculate that it was Jingleberry. His eyes were wide with fear, and twitched back and forth following the motion of the figure. His breathing was becoming heavy and his grip on Colette's shoulders was tightening, he wasn't going to let her go, the last thing that he wanted was to lose the only friend he had at the moment.

WOOSH.

The shape had finally come close, it had nearly touched him, and Raziel's heart jumped with anxiety. Looking around more wildly than he had before, he looked to where he had felt the presence of another go by, right where his bag had been hanging on his waist. It was gone. Completely gone. Looking down further to the ground, Raziel could make out a few objects scattered, but there were too many, this couldn't be the contents of his bag. The items began to fade as well. What was going- !!

Without any kind of warning, Raziel felt something hard hit his face. It wasn't like the touch he had just felt before, this one was definitely real. He stood for a moment, lost in what had just occurred until he heard the same noise again. He looked over in time to see Colette stagger from the blow. Again, there wasn't anyone there... except Sarias. It was as though a light bulb went off in Raziel's head. This was all Sarias. There was no way he could have been sure before that she even was a student, he'd never seen her before. But now, he was sure, she was going to try and kill them.

Raziel decided he had to play it cool, pretend like everything was alright and then take her out when the perfect time came. He would have to hunt the hunter. "Uhh.." Raziel mumbled out, still gathering his thoughts. "Looks like I've dropped my bag.. and the wind blew everything about.. I'm going to pick it up..." he trailed off at the end, not wanting to leave Colette, but also not wanting to let Sarias our of his sight in case she tried to remove Colette while he wasn't looking. Grabbing Colette's wrist, he started dragging her along with him, "Come on, we'll pick everything up together." As they went about, Raziel glanced back at Sarias somewhat often to make sure she wasn't planning something.

Even though he knew she was...

Something grabbed her. It was shaking her! With her eyes closed, it made Reaper feel far into danger. Colette tried to frantically pull away and look at whatever it was, thinking it could have been JingleBerry. However, all she saw was Raziel with his hands on her, still covered in Joy. N-no! GET IT OFF! she had shouted in her mind. Colette writhed and tried to get out of his grasp, remembering what it felt like before to have Joy on you, but his grip was strong and the attempt was futile. What he said soon caught her attention though and made her pause.

See something? she thought. Colette couldn't see it at all, but she believe it. "JingleBerry! It must be -- " she stopped mid sentence to gape as the still pink and sparkling Sarias grabbed Raziel and slapped him. She was trying to hurt him! He was suffering enough with all that Joy! Colette couldn't help but wonder how she could do such a thing to him, and then the Reaper soon felt the sting of a slap for herself. With all the madness and JingleBerry lurking nearby, she felt threatened. Attacked.

"Don't touch me!" Colette screamed at Sarias. She was rotten from the start. Maybe she was a part of this. She wanted to hurt them! Kicking at Sarias, Colette tried to messily crawl and flop away as fast as possible, but it caused her to fall on her back in the process. Her back, which should have a bag against it, was now in clean contact the ground. She needed that bag -- it was one of her hopes of survival -- and now it was missing! She was focused on Sarias still, the Banshee was the last one to touch her. It must have been her fault!

And then she was being dragged away. Colette felt so helpless.

She looked up at Raziel, who was dragging her and still covered in Christmas, and then back at the still pink and sparkling Sarias. Did she always have yellow eyes? She was pretty sure she didn't. Raziel had yellow eyes. Maybe they were connected -- maybe he was controlling her, she could even be controlling him! That hit could have been an act -- the bag an excuse to get her alone and in false security! She heard voices confirming and deepening her suspicion, and Colette yanked her wrist away and bounced up, giving a frantic look at Raziel and then Sarias before sprinting and flailing off in a random direction without a word. There was no time for talking -- she had to get away before they did something to her!

It didn't take long for her to come across her bag, and Colette stopped to grab everything she could, breathing hard and tired. She didn't even know if either of them were chasing her, but she didn't care. This stuff was important to surviving, she could risk them gaining distance towards her. Colette was in such a rush, she even picked up some scraps of paper that she didn't own before.

Still consumed in his thoughts, Raziel probably would have been able to hold onto Colette and not let her go had he not been preoccupied. His head was still consumed with the flashes of a figure darting through the fog, and the sting of the slap that Sarais had laid across his face. He was trying to figure out how they were supposed to get rid of her, so that they would be safe, and that's when Colette got away.

"NOOO! COLETTE!!" Raziel screamed after her, some fear of the unknown creeping into his voice. "Don't leave me here alone! She's going to get us!" he cried after her. He had finished picking up everything he could grab, which oddly enough was more than what he had started with, but that thought didn't cross his mind at all, being too overrun with fear of what Sarais would do next.

He started to run after her, not being able to see very far ahead of him, he was going mostly by the sound of where she went. "Colette! Please!!" He shouted into the dark fog. While he wasn't yelling he could hear what sounded like a second pair of footsteps following behind him. Raziel glanced back towards where he had come from to see what was following, but still only managed to see shadows in the fog, and he couldn't even be sure where they were or what shape they were.

While turned around, not looking in front of himself, Raziel managed to trip over something on the ground. He tumbled haphazardly to the dirty ground before sliding to a stop. UHNF. He slowly stood up, now completely covered in a layer of dirty brown. Looking around once again, he couldn't hear any more footsteps, which again frightened him. Glancing a little more frantically, he saw something slightly glowing yellow in not too distant fog. Looking back the other way, he could see a shadow that at least resembled the shape of Colette. Being unsure of the yellow glow, and being damn sure that Sarias was behind all of this, Raziel chose the Colette shadow, and jogged towards it quietly.

((Haha guys, I love this so hard XD ))

The effect she wanted happen for Raziel, she wanted some sense, some normality. He seemed to get the idea. Colette on the other hand...well her kick spoke volumes.

"Ow you little b***h!"
Sarias yelped as she reached down to the shin that was radiating painful clusters up her leg. The nasty little cow kicked her! After all she had done to save her. Raziel was busy collecting his bag from the floor as she hopped about on one leg, her own bag missing but hardly at the forefront of her mind.

"You better tape up that b***h; if she hits me again I'll give her more than a slap!" She spitted hollow words, she knew she needed both of them to look for clues but it helped ease the pain if she shouted her venom at the Reaper. The few seconds that happened thereafter played out in slow motion, Sarias unable to do a thing watched as not only Colette freaked out and ran, but Raziel did the same as well!

"Don't leave me here alone! She's going to get us!"

What? What was that? 'She'...meaning her? Sarias stopped hopping as she watched the two figures become consumed in the mist. They were talking about her? What the heck had she done! "Hey! Hey! Get back here!" she shouted until her voice went hoarse. They had left her....the nasty little shits had left her to defend for herself! Her rage swept her like a tidal wave; she hardly noticed the shadows flickering around the edges of the fog, or the continuing shouts of protest no longer in Raziel or Colette’s voice.

Taking a few steps forward she realized her bag was on the ground, its contents scattered. She hadn't even noticed dropping it but her mind was else where as she collected the paper, hardly thinking over the extra pieces as she pondered on the screams she would rain down on the runaways!

"They deserve more than screams"

"Huh?" She stopped mid collection. "Who's there?" She asked, returning to her full height, looking hard into the darkness.

"Are you the freak who's been talking to the others? Show yourself you jack-wit!"

"They deserve death....ahhh...sweet release...kill them...take their souls....before they end you....kill them"

Sarias shook slightly. Was it getting colder? Even for her? A ghost who lived & breathed the ice? She took a step back, and then another and soon found herself running in the direction of the others. Not sure what she was running from or running too. And the thoughts running though her mind? She couldn't distinguish them from her own, she didnt trust them, know them, want them.

But she was dam well sure the others wouldnt want to know them either. Know she was agreeing with every one uttered.

...But not far enough to get away from Sarias.

Sprinting through the fog Sarias was hounded by the voices, they clawed at her, tempted her, needed her. She couldnt get away fast enough. She listened to no-one but herself, but when those voices started to echo in your own voice. Well, you can't blame a ghoul for going a little crazy.

her feet pounded on the gravel, every step was agony as she pushed herself to run faster, and faster. If she could get away from the voices she could think straight, figure out a way to shut them up forever. If she could see them her rusty pipe would already be slammed down their throats! But they spoke such sense.

"ThEy hate yOu, desPIse yOU. Your WEak in their eyeS, WEAK. You shoUld END them, end ThEm, END THEM"

"SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!" She ran with her hands covering her ears now, they were inside her head it made no difference

(( YEEE. This this fun. 8D <3 ))

Raziel's cry of abandonment echoed around Colette. It wasn't exactly hard to hear things around you in a silent, abandoned town. She couldn't tell if it was another voice or the real thing, but it was all the same to her and she hadn't made a distinguished difference yet. What mattered was that he sounded troubled. Scared. In danger. Everything she was feeling.

Squinting through the fog, she tried to find some sign of Raziel. Maybe he followed her. She hoped he did. Regret of fleeing him and guilt was prominent in the Reaper now. Raziel was her friend. How could she question the boil's side? He helped fight JingleBerry, he couldn't be against her! And even if Sarias was controlling him, Colette couldn't just let him suffer. She had to stop her at all costs.

"So much friendship. So much love. It is touching to see you resist, to see you suffer for each other. All for nothing." More voices echoed around her.

No! This was not hopeless! The Reaper fumbled around for her flashlight and flicked it on, hoping that would make it easier to see in the fog. The flashlight was near useless though, the fog was persistent in being a difficulty. Turning in random directions, Colette tried to remember where she had come from. "Raziel," she shouted into the fog, "where are you?!"

The first thing she heard after that was a cackle, it sounded like Sarias. Another account of the lunacy she was suffering, but it seemed all too real.

"Death is coming. The calmness and the silence -- they will be eternal like the fog."

(( eee hee hee, i feel so bad for our characters right now XDD ))

Raziel had been moving along more or less silently in the fog, still terrified of the footsteps he could hear behind him and the shadows flitting around. Somewhere behind him he could hear Sarias shouting, and that only fueled him to move even faster. There were moments where Raziel had to stop because he realized he hadn't been breathing out of fear and needed to get oxygen back into his lungs.

While he was paused for a moment, Raziel could hear something. He wasn't quite sure what it was, it didn't sound like either Sarias or Colette. At first, Raziel was interested, but remembering that there was some shadow out there, he instantly became wary of the voice.

"She's just going to kill you too." it whispered, it seemed so close and yet so far away.

Raziel turned in every direction, frantically searching for the source of the voice. "Who are you?!" he shouted into the fog, grabbing his head with both hands, he closed his eyes tightly and chanted to himself, "No, no, no. Colette is my friend. She would never hurt me. Never."

"If you say so..." it whispered again, "Take your chances, but don't say I didn't warn you!" it said, almost teasing Raziel, and giggling creepily as it sounded like it moved far away.

Just then, Raziel heard his name being called, this time by the familiar voice of Colette, and before the voice could find him again, he ran towards the call. "Colette!!" he shouted back, just before arriving close enough to see her somewhat clearly through the fog, but far enough that if she attacked him, he could get away... hopefully.
