I guess I never cared for 1.) the way politicians reason (if you can call it that) and 2.) the things they promise (which my peace loving soul can't bear to watch tv because of, I sold my tv about a year and a half ago.)

Because people who seek power are greedy and have a reason to want the power. They rise to power because they are the ones trying for the power. The ones with gentle souls work in more of a community-based, gentle method of life, and don't often try for leadership (there are exceptions)
