The floorboards shook as the two figures suddenly made their appearance into the once-abandoned town resident. While the decaying room itself was small - perhaps only ten feet both directions - the sheer amount of litter in it was absolutely abominable, more disgusting than even the most ingenious of Sloth demons by far.

Rotten apple cores, bones of various creatures lay strewn on the ground, covered in various levels of decaying flesh and maggots. Oh, the bugs, the maggots strewn everywhere, white larvae that decorated the floor like some deranged housewife's tiling.

"PESTTTTTYYYY" Screamed the cloaked, hunched figure, throwing Carthusia, otherwise coined to be the traitor, into a thick pile of festering decay. The opponent looked left and right, and huffed, crossing its arms. "I know you're around here somewhere, WE HAVE A GUEST!"

Still no go, other than a most likely stunned Pride demon, the figure seemed to be doing a great job in talking to itself.

"PESTY I CAUGHT ME A"- and suddenly their voice toned down to a hush, as they walked closer to their victim, giving them a small kick," I caught us the traitor. The traiiiitorrr."

Unfortunately this 'Pesty' person did not seem to be arriving any time soon, and the disformed creature settled on hopping about, digging through layers of cadavers and flesh until it picked up something. A pendant. Slowly, it waddled back to the Pride demon.

"Traitor. Hey you. Does this remind you of what you did to us?"

Carthusia, rather unhappy demoness of the Prideful variety, was thrown unceremoniously into a pile of what could only be classified as filth. She was too stunned to act at first - the last thing she knew, she was clocking Ole Ugglebutt upside the noggin with a medical kit, and then he pulled on her hair how dare he and she was... what happened? Where in the Jacking Jackity Jack was she, besides some smelly, infested shed... thing. Wherever she was, the room was small, stank like years-old gym socks and was crawling with... with...

Pride jumped up with a scream a banshee would be proud of. "WHAT IS JACK'S UNHOLY NAME IS THIS?!" She swatted at her skin, picking off and squishing various bugs and chunks of -- was that meat? -- from her body. She pulled some slime from her hair and wasn't facing Uggles at the moment, but his voice made her turn around in a start. She flared her nostrils in a fury, pointing a clawed finger at whoever-he-was. "Traitor? The only thing traitorous about all this is your horrendous decor and your abysmal sense of style. That and you smell bad."

Uggles with a Capital Ug held up a pendant, one much like she'd seen before. Carthusia blinked at it, but the only memory that came to mind was out by Breck's Shed, all while students were clamoring for the thing. What on earth was it? "Unless I've beaten you around with an empty medical kit before, it doesn't remind me of anything. Satisfied now? Can I leave?" Judging by the tone of her voice, Carry could not be any less happy with the situation. She desperately sought a shower.

"You always were the weakest link," another voice came from behind her. "You aided our fall, but fell yourself in the end." The small cloaked figure that appeared stared at her for several moments before nodding toward the other, "The idiot over there who doesn't know how to use a proper name? They want a better answer. Better find one, weak link, or who knows what they'll do? They're a bit crazy, you know..."

They paused for a moment and the light shifted just enough to reveal a small, feral smile, "We all are."

The 'Pride demon kidnapper' made no motion to be surprised at all upon its partner-in-crime's words: it was rather hard to tell whether or not they were the acclaimed "Pesty", or if they had, instead, been talking about something that lay buried in the... decor. Maybe they just had bad naming skills in general.

They waited, patiently, for Carthusia to stop screaming, before looking very slowly at its 'buddy', its shoulders quivering. One hand went up to rub its eyes vigorously (or where its eye sockets would be located). Was... was the thing sobbing? "The traitor betrayed me - BETRAYED US - and now look at her. She wants to leave. She doesn't need us. She doesn't love us anymore, SHE DOESN'T LOVE ME. ME, WHO HELPED HER."

It gave one last overwhelming sniffle before crouching down next to the Pride demon again. "Okay, let's-" Sniffle -" play this the other way. You tell me WHERE THEY HAVE IT and we'll let you go. In pieces. Um... one piece. Oh, I'm so bad at math." It seemed rather disappointed at itself upon arriving at that conclusion. "Pesty... can you please do the cutting stuff, every time I cut things, they come out so uneven...."

It gave a sort of dismissive gesture towards Carthusia upon the last sentence.

Cutting things?

Oh Jack no they di-int.

First, Mini Uggles said that she, of all people, was the weakest link and that she somehow aided in their fall (whoever they were), and now Big Uggles was bawling, which was weird and slightly disturbing in and of itself, and then she was threatened to be chopped into uneven pieces. Fantastic. How could she loved, or have loved, someone she didn't even know? What were these people talking about!? Finally, Carthusia had had enough and balled her hands into fists in an effort to defend herself, both verbally and physically. If she didn't know any better, the two of the cloaked figures might be out for blood, and Pride might not ever leave this hellhole.

"How can I be a traitor? I don't even know you people!" spat the demoness, looking rather put out, confused and unnerved all in one. The sobbing one disturbed her the most - they had a pendant, one that she'd seen before on the school grounds, and it was saying how Carthusia didn't love her anymore? Even after being helped? What was all this about?! "Where who has hidden what? If you're talking about the pendants, you look like you've already gotten one. What else could you need me for?"

Why did that suddenly sound like a bad question to ask?

"...worse than useless..." It wasn't clear which they were referring to, but the the smaller figure began to walk off, turning their back on both of them. "The trash...just leave it here."

"Noooooo you're scaring Pesty! Come back Pesty, she isn't scary, she's my friend." 'Scared' being a placeholder adjective. "We used to play SO much together, and-"

The hooded figure suddenly turned, staring directly at an occupant-less corner (unless you counted maggots). "Oh... I see. I see." Their voice lowered, shoulders sagged, and the nervous twitching of their tail stopped. In a moment of lucidity - or was it something else? - the assailant turned and leaned in close, uncomfortably close, to Carthusia, one hand clamped on the Pride demoness's shoulder. Even then, they wrenched the victim closer, until their lips were pressed inches away from Carthusia's right ear. And oh, did the offender ever smell bad, the fermenting condition of the floor was nothing compared to the sheer nausea of just being close to this hooded figure.

"Let me tell you a story." they began, in a whisper, a very straightforward whisper. "Once upon a time, there were creatures who were scary, so very terrifying. One day, they decided to go on a little vacation. On that very same day, something happened, they were attacked by No Good, Bad Guys. So of course, the very scary creatures did what they did best, they scared those that thought they could be scarier away, and the scary creatures decided, together, they would stop the No Good, Bad Guys. Especially a secret location the No Good, Bad Guys were looking for. Even if the scary creatures were outnumbered, they would try their best."

"Until one of them betrayed us." Suddenly, the cloaked figure was talking in a regular voice, though her grating breath still loomed over the Pride demoness's ear, their clawed hands digging into Carthusia's shoulder, unrelenting. "They told them. They TOLD them the location. They willingly became BAIT. They.... told the No Good, Bad Guys, that they would get it, that secret place, the special place."

A lapse of silence followed as the figure began shaking again, sitting on the ground with a very undignified splash. "Now.. now YOU tell me. Where exactly were the No Good, Bad Guys looking for?"

Carthusia would have wretched right then and there (mmm, seafood anyone?) but at the last moment, Pride turned for a gasp of more-fresh-but-still-terrible air, trying to face away from the larger of the two figures. The story made no sense and didn't even stir the slightest bit of memory in her mind. They had to be mistaken. She didn't look like these creatures (what little she could see of them, and she certainly had more sense to bathe on occasion holy Jacking cow) so... they had to have nabbed the wrong demon. They had to have. But she felt that she couldn't leave wherever she was in one piece unless...

Unless she played along.

"Look," she said, trying to be nice and pat the larger figure on the head gently, "it was all part of the plan!" She tried her best to maintain composure, to not shudder or blink oddly or stifle. Carry couldn't afford to lose the lie now. "I've been watching them, you see, the Very Bads? The lot of them here are weak and the big strong ones are completely missing! And they don't know a thing about... the secret." Pride shook her head in affirmation and attempted to get some distance. "If we're still on the island, I can go back and lead them away. They believe me, you know."

Would that work? She looked to Pesty for confirmation.

The smaller figure paused as the other began their little story, by the time the girl had finished her little story, they still hadn't bothered turning back to face either of them. Spine straight and head forward, their back almost seemed to radiate contempt. Maybe it was the name. Maybe it was the crazy. Maybe Carry's story hit the wrong nerve. Maybe all three (but probably the name.)

After a few moments, the slender back began to quiver and then shake outright. They were...laughing? "IS THAT SO? AHAHAHAHAHA! REALLY? THAT'S GREAT THEN ISN'T IT?!"

A crushing force slammed down onto the other two for several punishing beats and then...

"Then lead them away."

The fog began to insinuate itself into the room.

"And don't disappoint us again."

Despite being attacked by their own 'comrade', the other quickly scrambled onto their feet, several dried bones falling out of their cloak. They quivered and stared at their victim, repeating only two words over and over again.

"The plan. The plan. THE PLAN. THE PLAN. THE PLAN!!"

- and suddenly Carthusia found herself with one very pungent cloaked creature accessory, as they flung themselves around the Pride demon in a bone-shattering hug. "I like you, do you know that. Can I keep you?"

Before Carthusia could even think of responding, they were already at the doorway, pulling the wooden door right open. "Okay move along, little sheep, little black sheep, I love you, we shall be the sheepdog that herd the stray little Lambs to their destinations, oh all is set, all is so beautifully in place."

"When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, 'Come and see!'"

And with that, the both of them were gone.
