cry Tis a sad life living alone. Which is why a pet seems like a good idea.

I got an offer for a cat from someone I work with. Thing is they are almost pressuring me to get it. I told them about the one hundred dollar pet deposit my apartment would charge me and they offered to pay half of that!

neutral Now here's my dilemma. They keep telling that shes a sweet cat and all and she needs a home, but if you keep pressuring me like this I will think that the cat is the complete opposite of what you say she is. I don't want a destructive pet. I want a calm pet that pretty much lays around like I do.

confused Any thoughts? Maybe someone else thinks that the cat is the opposite of what the people I work say she is. gonk

Can you meet the cat or have it stay with you for a while before deciding for sure?

I'd say those would probably be your best options. I think if you met the cat and either hung out at this coworker's house for a few hours to see what the cat did in her spare time or kept her for the weekend, you could get an idea of her personality. If the coworker is shady about you meeting the cat before final adoption, I'd be wary, definitely. But if the cat seems nice, I guarantee she's not just trying to put on a good show for you. ^_^; Cats don't work that way.

Also, I was thinking about hanging out with the cat and seeing what she is like before hand. gonk But then I'd have to buy a box and litter!

Just get the smallest bag you can and the cheapest, plainest box (if you do end up adopting, feel free to upgrade if you want) Litter and a box isn't too expensive, I shouldn't think. Although your best bet would probably be to just visit the cat in her own home for a while. She may act up in a new environment in the beginning because she's scared.

Alright, listen up.

I've had many cats, so you can say I'm a bit of an expert... currently I have three cats and one dog...

Anyway... yes, you can't jump into getting the cat. If their pressuring you, it's a bad sign of the cat... also a bad sign if they're really paying you to take em. So, what I suggest is going and getting a free kitten. It's easiest to start with a kitten, that way you raise it to a cat... and if you can't stand it, it's an easy pet to give away. Everyone loves kittens, nobody much denies a free one... just don't raise a kitten up to a cat and want to get rid of it because "it's ugly now", that's just evil. Also, don't get a new kitten when you have a cat, that’ll just pisses em off... so, get a free kitten and don't worry about the cat. It's much more rewarding to raise a kitten to a cat.
Even if their cat was the smartest and sweetest cat in the world... it's not as special as raising it yourself from the start.

with a kitten comes shots and check ups with the vet. I can't afford that.
