Hey guys! Ty here bringing you the very first Black and White Pokemon of the Week! Wooh! Naturally, I'd choose my favourite Gen V Pokemon, a bug type that some would find quite... shocking.

Galvantula
The EleSpider Pokemon

User Image

“Galvantula are hairy yellow and blue spiders. They appear to have six blue eyes, four of which are small and are located in the middle of their foreheads between two larger eyes which have pupils. They have a jagged purple stripe on their backs; their underside is also purple. Their connecting leg segments, as well as their single-toed feet, are dark blue in coloration. Spiky, hairy blue features fringe their abdomens.” – Bulbapedia

Galvantula. My favourite Pokemon to come out of Generation V. He’s got an awesome typing that only gives him two weaknesses, and his typing allows him to hit five types for super effective, with his STAB alone (Psychic, Dark, Grass, Flying, Water). Sadly, that’s not much, but Galvantula’s got a decent movepool, with Hidden Power and Energy Ball allowing him to improve on those. Let’s check out this awesome, electrically charged spider’s base stats!

HP: 70
Attack: 77
Defense: 60
Sp. Attack: 97
Sp. Defense: 60
Speed: 108

What is this, I don’t even? Why Gamefreak, did you have to troll Galvantula and give him 97 Sp Attack, instead of 100? Same with his Speed not being 110. Like, what’s up with that? Still, 97 and 108 aren’t all that bad. Galvantula outspeeds base 100 Pokemon, which is always good, and hits hard on the special side. His Attack, which he won’t be using, was unfortunately trolled as well with 77. Why not 80 Gamefreak? It makes things so much neater in my world! Anyways, Galvantula’s moveset is pretty good. Here are a few moves the spider can put to good use.

Thunderbolt: Yay STAB Thunderbolt! That’s always welcome! You’re opponent’s not going to want to bring in a Flying type against your Bug now!

Thunder: With CompoundEyes, this move’s accuracy gets boosted up to 91%! That’s pretty awesome. Almost guaranteed to be run on all CompoundEyes sets.

Bug Buzz: I’m not sure how Galvantula vibrates its wings to produce the buzz, like the move’s description says, but Galvantula learns it, and tears up Grass, Dark, and Psychic types with it! Yay!

Energy Ball: Yay for TM Energy Ball! Galvantula can use this to defeat the evil Ground types who switch into his Thunders!

Volt Switch: A move made to give Electric types everywhere the ability to do what Bug types can do. Hit and run. Too bad Galvantula already could with U-Turn, although, Volt Switch does run off of the Special Attack stat, so in Galvantula’s case, Volt Switch > U-Turn

Spider Web: Yay! Let’s trap your opponent’s Water or Grass type! Now they can’t escape! Muahaha! Aren’t we evil?

Anyways, that’s about it for the electric spider. For EVs, you’d probably want to always invest in Special Attack and Speed, as those are his greatest stats. The rest can be thrown into HP, or maybe Attack if you happen to run Sucker Punch. But I advise you all to use Galvantula! I went through the game story with one, and it completely destroyed. Plus, it’s prevo, Joltik, is just the cutest Pokemon ever! Who’s with me?

Yea… Galvantula. Use it! Guaranteed you’ll see one on my Bug team!

This is Tyranno Tycoon, Bug Elite 4, signing off!

*groans at the first pun*

Hell yeah. Sexy a** Electric-type. Compound Eyes and Thunder. Or go for speed and spam Electro Web and slam 'em with an Electra Ball.

a lot easier, and faster, to just use a thunderwave rather than electro web, and not only does it reduce their speed by 3/4s in one use, but also adds a 33% chance they wont act.

Galvantula=most badass spider ever. I was using Zebstrika for my story campaign and then I found Joltik and was like "Electric spider? HELL YES!". He has never failed me in performance and is by far the best electric type I know of in general awesomeness and pwnage. Nuff said.

Side note-Totally nicknamed my Galvantula Shelob from LOTR.

I tend to like Hidden Power Ground over Energy Ball for this one, just cause it covers the weaknesses well.

I love this one all around though, it has nice stats, abilities, and a good movepool, that's just hard to argue with.

Jolyik is pretty dang cute, and the added bonus of not being zapped by static ever again by having it clinging to my back would be a conveniant bonus. I am prone to being zapped...
