Pure white. Blind. Robbed entirely of sight and mostly of hearing.
The greatest antagonist of the island yet, the thick, white fog, was doing its job of robbing students of everything they held dear: their friends, their security, their own footing. Some swatted at the fog, terrified as they realized they could not even see their own limbs, others settled for taking very tiny, baby steps forward, in hopes that they could at least escape.
Everything was so very white.
But not for long.
It was hard to explain exactly what happened - something like a muffled whoosh, and the first noise that students heard in the last few moments - some sort of object clattering against something sharp, and then a choked gurgle. Students held their breath for more, and were rewarded by... what was that appearing from the fog, more solid than the students themselves?
Where the figure walked, the fog seemed to abate around them, until they had walked in a full semi-circle, gracing the area with a wide gap of vision and sound.
"I see you've been waiting for me." The figure murmured. Was it talking to the students? Was it talking to itself? It held up one hand: upon first sight it seemed as it was a string of large orbs, upon second, students might have recognized the shape of skulls that it strung along. There were no eyes that peered back at the students. "A blind man wanders without a sound, fools who can see walk without value of their lives. Come, let me put you out of your misery." Well, it looks like friendly visitor was out of the question.
The figure moved first, sweeping their misshapen cloak in a wide arc backwards, as the fog seemed to dissipate entirely underneath them until all of it was cleared. In clear vision stood the strange opponent and of course, the students.
"Come now," beckoned the figure once again, upon students' hesitation. "I can hear your skulls rattling already, such a beautiful sound, oh, the chorus of many in my hands."

The fog was giving her a bad feeling; she was sure she had experienced something similar in the past, but... It was difficult to think, seeing how she was feeling cold and how she was sure the Reaper she was currently clinging to did not appreciate her effort to keep them together. The fog dulled her senses, and she clung harder onto Mac's arm, almost afraid to let go; she was almost glad Amrita and Tess weren't around to experience this.
"... Did you hear that?"
The figure that appeared caused her eyes to widen, even if it was only for a split second, before she slowly released Mac's arm, drawing out the old wooden bat she had retrieved from the tent earlier from its place in her backpack. As the fog cleared, so did her vision; sounds were also no longer muffled... Was he the one controlling the fog? It seemed that way to her... Holding the bat in both hands in a defensive pose as she faced the hooded figure, she threw Mac a side glance, tipping her head to encourage him to do the same; well, ladies first, right?
"If you insist," Eyes narrowed, she ran towards the figure, bat lowered. Once she was close enough, she swung it upwards in an attempt to hit him/her/it; it must be connected to that incident that happened in school some time ago! She was sure of it! She told Jericho she wouldn't let history repeat itself...
And she made good her word, as she felt the bat hit something before moving back, still in her defensive pose.

Sheridan was really starting to hate the fog (only starting, Sheridan? Okay, so he was well past starting). Even in their brief time on the island, the dragon had decided he'd seen more than enough fog to last a lifetime. It wasn't as if he wasn't familiar with fog, or that he didn't enjoy the low wisps of clouds on the mountain peeks, but this...this fog was far more ominous than any he had ever seen, it made him uneasy, his hair stood on end, and worse than that, it blocked out the stars. What did a dragon have to do to get a look at the stars in this infernal place?!
A dissipation in the fog may have been thought to be a precious relief, if only that had been the case. Sheridan was suddenly on edge, his ears back, tail twitching. He didn't like it, at all, there was something... The dragon growled, taking a step backward. He did not know who this stranger was, or what they were, but he was sure he did not like them, they were dangerous.
He was not a fighter, he really was not. Sheridan had always been too interested in science to have any interest in fighting, that was the whole reason he had been sent to the academy wasn't it. But now, under such a threat, the fog far too dense to fly away, and his extremely poor mood (deny a cosmic dragon the stars? Did you really expect a -happy- dragon?), damned if he was going to just sit there and let this thing come after him without a fight.
So that old book did have a purpose after all (he should have know, it was far too foggy to actually -read- it). A snarl, the dragon crouched, he leapt toward the creature...

Yui was Not Happy. In fact, at this point, her feelings were beginning to veer into the realm of either Extraordinarily Pissed or Absolutely Terrified. Really, it could have gone either way. She'd already discovered that her ability to cry rubies was non-existant in this place. She had, in a moment of weakness, succumbed to tears of fright and frustration. And in the moment, all that had leaked from her eyes were clear droplets of water, without even the normal reddish tinge that singled a ruby about to appear.
That alone had frightened her. But with those strange crystal clear tears had come the realization that if she couldn't do what was natural for her species, WHAT IF HER FEAR WASN'T WORKING EITHER. At that point, Yui would have been perfectly justified had she simply curled into a ball and tried to hide. But, her parents had raised her to think through her emotions. So she had sat for a few moments with her eyes closed to avoid seeing the white fog that cloaked everything. She had her mace. She was not entirely helpless. And if she could find any of the other students, that could also be an added protection.
And so it was that she's tramped along, pausing everything once in a while to listen. And at the first sounds of a group, she hurried as fast as she could, ignoring how she stumbled and tripped in the fog. Though when she reached the source of the voices, she found herself wishing that she hadn't bothered. The cloaked figure threatening them was frightening. And big. Very big.
But Yui was tired, angry, sore and very sick of everlasting white everywhere. And perhaps, this made her more reckless than usual. With an angry hiss, she lunged at the figure, swinging her blunt mace in both hands, hoping to connect.

This fog was mindnumbing. As much as he tried, Jericho just couldn't navigate through it. He attempted to blast some away with a few beats of the wings, but that really did nothing to help clear his vision. This did not bode all too well. He had lost track of where the others were, but things soon cleared up once more.
Another cloaked figure had appeared. Narrowing his eyes, he listened to the stranger, not really making a great deal of sense of it. Quickly bringing out his wooden sword, the dragon was ready to take on this person. He reminded him of the one Reaper-guy that had drained them of their FEARS. Taunting the students and all.
Off to the side, he saw Lizzy and Sheridan advancing in for a strike. It was about time to follow suit.
"The pleasure's all mine," he growled while charging forward with a swing of his weapon, only to stumble before he could actually get anywhere.

"No." Was Mac's honest reply; no, he didn't hear that. What was she even talking abou---Oh. That. The Reaper jumped when he spotted and heard the robed figure, gulping when he spotted the skulls that were held up for all to see. Ugh, he didn't want to do this, not one bit! But more students were appearing in the area, and more than that, stupid little Lizzy was taking a stance. How could he, in his right mind, just run away? He had a practically non-existant reputation to protect!
Brandishing the bat as though playing the game itself, Mac took a few steps forward and swung, feeling the telltale recoil of connecting. He wasn't sure how hard he had hit the misshapen figure, but judging by the ache in his somewhat injured arm it was at least a decent enough hit.

Bul wasn't but two second from wailing his pipe into the cloaked figure that approached Junko when he heard a commotion in the nearby crowd. He couldn't see who was being attacked, nor could he tell who was attacking them.
He had no doubt Seiji would unleash his fury on the cloaked figure, so he turned wind for a moment. "Dude I gotta see what's up I'll be right back!"
But Bul had no idea he'd have his hands tied for a while. He watched as the other students tried to attack this being. "This is not cool, ******** this s**t ******** this s**t.." he panted then griped the pipe tightly and rushed forwards to it to make a striking blow.
Nothing. It did absolutely nothing. By now Bul was really stressed knowing that.. well if this mug was anything... and his pipe did nothing well....

What . . . was this? Just moments before, he'd been following Sharra and Yaya toward the fire, and then he was LOST? This place was. Stupid.
And suddenly there was some guy telling them to attack him? Hmn. Cloaked figure, but it didn't look the same as the other one . . . Okay FINE, whatever!
With a yell, Aksaja ran toward the figure, swinging his metal pipe. And just barely missed. Jackdammit.

The fog was awful. It was a horrible, murky pea soup that Halloween's very best fog-brewers would be rightfully proud of. Malodore wished that both fog and itself had stayed in Halloween where they both belonged... even if it was now dry (of seawater, at least; the fog ensured it remained clammy), it still hadn't had a good chance to change its bandages, and there was sand in some very uncomfortable places. Ugh. And now it was lost, of course. Why not add insult to injury?
The fog parting was almost a relief. Almost. Until it saw what was parting it, heard its cryptic speech, and oh Jack why had they all been brought out here to die anyway?! Couldn't they just die on campus? Wouldn't that be more efficient?!
Bureaucracy.
Well. It hadn't quite been downtrodden enough to go down without a fight. The plague doctor took a swing with that old book it had grabbed off of the table - and, to its surprise, felt it connect! Yes! Take that, you bastardo!

Arachne had briefly let go of Sepheran's arm, slipping into the all encompassing fog, muttering as she did so.
'I am not having a good time!' she scowled, whirling around as another one of those damnable hooded figures made an entrance.
She gripped onto the wooden table leg, and with a yell that seemed to burble up from her belly and slipped out of her mouth, she ran head long at the figure, swinging as with all her might and connecting before falling back from the momentum of her rush and swing.

The fog was thick. But Barth could still make out the other students. ...Not the same students he had left with. They had been going up the mountain. There had been muted struggles in the mist. And then...the rattle of bones.
Barth liked his skull where it was. He unstrapped his pack, taking his time, but he had never felt more slow than when searching for his weapon. What had he...? Oh right. First aid kit.
He examined it thoroughly. It was empty. Soft, but firm, like a lunchbox.
He missed the grappling gun.

Sin was so confused, one moment she was with Rosc walking along the beach trying to find Alcyone and Viveca. Then suddenly the fog had thickened ensnared them, she couldn't see an inch infront of her. Her fingers had tightened on Rosc's hand trying to keep some kind of anchor on her location. Then a figure had appeared the fog clearing, but not enough to escape and Sin's grip on her pathetic empty first aid kit tightened.
This guy was threatening, he wanted to hurt them, and he was more frightening then the drunkest tree, the lamest deer. This guy didn't seem like a pushover, he looked like he could really do some damage. Sin shuddered and then released her hold on Rosc's hand and chucked the empty first aid kit at him...of course it really didn't do very much. Now she had to retrieve the darn thing to boot. Speaking of boots, sand and designer heels didn't mix and Sin found herself having to step gingerly about. What she wouldn't give for her boots, heel or no heel at least she'd be capable in them.
