The sun was just beginning to rise as Saengdao found herself watching it from outside the weeping lion. The Ligi were never pleased to see her pass by, but she considered herself safe as long as she didn't irritate any of them. As it was she hadn't said a word, passing by with her head hung and her eyes on the ground. Her position still held enough respect that they did not question her movements, though she was quite sure she was being followed nevertheless. It was the price paid to keep the Shatkona happy, and she didn't care to question it. It simply wouldn't be worth the fight. She wasn't doing anything interesting, what concern of it was hers if the Ligi wanted to bore themselves to death with her actions. There were still a few pleasures in life, the feeling of the morning being one of them. Her sleep had been intermittent at best, and the fresh feeling of the morning sun gave her a renewed energy. It was therapeutic in a way.

Kafei was lurking quite deep into the Ashnai'le territory, coming almost as close as he had ever been to the weeping lion; barring his first visit he had with Sahen when he was let into the pride of course.

He tried his best to forget how awkward that meeting was.

It had been quite awhile since then, and Kafei's life in the pride had been much more pleasant than he expected mostly due to the time he was spending with his now close friend, Anju. She somehow made him forget about the terrible things going on in the pride, and simultaneously upped the urgency to bring peace back to the lands. Kafei was constantly worrying about her safety, although it was possible her ignorance to the doings of Sahen was keeping her safe.

He was starting to come to terms with his feelings for her, but wasn't even sure if a relationship between a Tama and an Atmaja lioness was even tolerated anymore. He let out a low grumble and tried to clear his head of the matter and concentrate on finding some food.

His hunt was quickly interrupted however. Kafei stopped in his tracks as he spotted a golden lioness coming down the same path towards him. He didn't recognize her, but with such a brilliant coat there was no mistaking she must be pure blood Atmaja.

"Good morning miss." He bowed his head in respect, realizing that wandering so close to the weeping lion meant that she could be in a position of power.

"Good morning" she called back with a short sigh of relief. He didn't recognize her and she didn't recognize him, someone from the roguelands perhaps. She might have an interesting morning yet. It would be nothing suspicious for her to ask a few questions of a newer member, even if he was clearly Tama. The thought struck her suddenly that he may yet be one of the Ligi, sent under guise to test her loyalties. It would be the act of a very paranoid Shatkona to spy so blatantly on his advisors, but she wasn't sure anything was below Sahen. Still, she had nothing incriminating and even if she did she wouldn't release it so carelessly to someone she did not know. He would know that. The chances he was truly a spy were low. She relaxed a little once more, coming toward him, "Taking in the sights? The weeping lion truly is magnificent, though few come to appreciate it anymore."

"It really is a sight to behold. My Mom and Dad use to tell me about it all the time when I was a cub." Sure it wasn't the reason he had come so close, but it was a good cover. Anju had shown him that the best places to catch prey seemed to be the most dangerous in the pride, so the Tama was naturally attracted to the most magnificent landmark in the pride. Or at least that's how he had rationalized coming so close.

The young lion had a way of finding trouble, and he often dangerously pushed the boundaries of what the Ligi in the pride would tolerate. He had been trying to find an excuse to come up here for some time now, and was pleasantly surprised that he found himself in good company.

"Though it seems to hold a different meaning to the pride members now than it did during my parents time here." Kafei averted his gaze from the weeping lion, to the lioness before him with a bittersweet smile on his face. Although Kafei wouldn't call her old, it was obviously the Atmaja had been around before the current Shatkona's reign. She seemed so docile and at peace during her stroll though the canyon, but Kafei wondered what kind of pain she's had to endure. It would be difficult to find a lion in the pride that hadn't been personally affected by Sahen being in power. His parents had been lucky enough to escape, but her and countless others could only watch the pride slowly fall to it's knees as Sahen took his rightful place on the thorn.

"Meanings are fluid," she said softly. She had learned over the years that the best way to remain in good graces was to be vague whenever possible. This young male wasn't under her counsel, so she saw no need to expose herself more than necessary. "Who's to say how folks will look upon one thing tomorrow or the day after," she added, nodding as she did, "Time changes everything." Some things not for the best, but all things would eventually return to a balance. They had to, lest the gods become aware. "You seem different, and yet you say your parents lived here, care to elaborate?" she asked, settling in as she subtly examined him, knowing that her oddly colored eyes were a bit unnerving to some.

Kafei listened with something of a blank look on his face. He liked to think of himself much wiser than he was, but at times like this the young Tama felt awfully ignorant. He was finding it hard to read between the golden lionesses words, but her way with them was something he could appreciate.

"I guess your right. I just hope time is on our side." Although it might of come off differently, By 'our' he meant himself and Anju. Kafei was beginning to see the difficulties their relationship... or whatever it was, would have while Sahen was in power.

Kafei pondered for a moment; what did she mean by different? He wasn't sure, but he answered her without question anyways.

"My parents were lords of the Tama house who left in the good graces of the Shatkona quite a while ago. They loved this pride, but wanted a family and didn't feel safe having cubs here." Kafei explained as simply as he could his situation.

"They loved this place so much. Even in their new home they taught me the story of Abha and brought me up to be a respectable Tama. The only problem was, I wasn't. I was a Nobel for this pride called Suka'Fumo." He said with a slight chuckle in his voice. As a young cub Kafei had been a complete fish out of water in that pride. The feeling of dispare that engulfed the pride lands was something he would take over ever having to sit through one of those awful plays ever again. "Even though I had neve been here before, it felt more like home somehow, like this is where I was meant to be. So I came 'back', to the dismay of my parents." He tried to act a bit nonchalant towards the end of his story. Everyone he had met so far thought he was crazy for leaving the comforts of his pride to come to, of all places, Ashnai'le.

"Oh, and apologies for not introducing myself earlier. I am Kafei." He lowered his head to bow once again as he gave his name.

"Kafei," she repeated, the name lingering on her tongue like a drop of honey. It suited him well, and though she knew some about the prides outside their borders this particular Suka'Fumo held no significance for her. "A shame to them for losing you, but a gain on our part I should think," she admitted, shifting herself into a more comfortable position as she let her eyes wander across the horizon instead of fixing on him. He would pull no stunts now that she knew enough to trace back to him. At least, not if he had the sense. "And in your return," she began, purposefully avoiding eye contact, "Have you found what you were looking for?"

Kafei couldn't help but grin as he heard the golden lionesses compliment. Nothing made him happier than to be accepted by the prides members, and every day thoughts about his past life seemed to fall further and further to the back of his mind. Though her question took Kafei by surprise. If he were to be honest he would have said "Trouble", but his Tama instincts urged him to keep his mouth shut for once.

"I can't talk too much about the reason I came here." He said quietly and calmly, while glancing up at the weeping lion. "However, I have found a few things I wasn't looking for in the process." He shifted his front paws around nervously, unsure how she would respond to such vague answers. Quickly attempting to shift the focus off himself, Kafei took a chance at trying to get her to talk.

"So what's your story, if you don't mind me asking?" She seemed far too intelligent to simply give away any important information she might know about the pride, but Kafei was almost more curious to find out some personal details about this lioness.
