The rocky beach, down by the icy waters surrounding the Myrsky Syntynt, was one of Katira's favorite places to linger. For the most part, there were few if any lions about to annoy or pester the lawspeaker, and while Katira certainly wasn't one of those lions who enjoyed silence over the company of others, she did on ocassion find herself needing to simply sit and think. Today, the skies above were clear and the water was for the most part calm. The cream colored lioness had deigned it a perfect day for a beach visit, and was at the present time walking with her paws just toeing the line between being in the water and being on the warm sand.

Here and there, she would find a shell or a pebble, and she was making a little pile a ways off of little treasures. Something to toy with in her spare time; perhaps to make something for her niece. She wasn't the most skilled at making things and would probably pass it off to a Freeborn who had better paws for it, but it was the thought that counted, right?

Either way, with her head down and her mind a million miles away, Katira wandered hither tither along the beach, collecting things and just enjoying the serenity of the rocky beach.

Taraxa was feeling sorry for himself. Not just a little sorry for himself, either. No, the big lion was feeling really sorry for himself. Life had been pretty great for a long time. He'd almost been able to forget about her... almost. Her bright green eyes, her laughter, her smile... no.

No, she was back. She was back and she was making his life a living hell.

His sister. Tazira. Those bright green eyes? Mocking. That laughter? Annoying. That smile? Holier than thou. She was back and she was going to make his life a living hell. She'd moved into his den and had cleaned it out, taken control of his sons and daughters... Tazira had even taken to following him around making up stupid poems.

Taraxa thinks he's awesome
Taraxa thinks he's great
Taraxa loves the ladies
They'd rather make fun of his weight!

He'd finally been able to get away from her and had decided that the beach was the best place to go. It was there that he spotted a familiar face and with a lighter step and a very super seductive smile on his face (it was laughable, really) he made his way towards the female on the beach.

Oh, Taraxa. Will you never learn?

So in her own little universe that she was, poor Katira didn't see him coming until it was far too late to just run. Ah, damn. She thought to herself, gritting her teeth around the shell in her mouth as she straightened up and turned to face her fear. Or Taraxa, if you preferred to go by his real name.

"I will kill you some day." She growled around the shell, beginning to tread back to her little pile of knick knacks and things. Maybe if he thought she was busy, he'd leave her alone! Doubtful, that didn't seem like anything any males in the pride would do, but Katira could hope, damn it. She set the shell down, and spat a bit of sand out of her mouth, glancing at Taraxa again.

"You look..." Ridiculous? Goofy? "Well." That probably flew better than calling what he thought was a seductive smile silly, right? Right.

Though the greeting was the usual, Taraxa was more interested in the unusual. Maybe that was why he'd had such a softness for Nymph and again for Zilly. At her initial greeting, Taraxa grinned what he thought was a rather attractive and very suggestive grin.

"Why would you want to do that, Katira," he joked, injecting a sultry tone into his voice. She looked busy but surely she wouldn't mind his companionship. He'd always kind of thought she had a bit of the hots for him. Might as well let her have the chance. What could he say, Taraxa was a nice guy.

"And you look," he eyed her, gaze lingering on her feet and rump, of all things, "lovely, as always." Smoooooth, Taraxa. Real smooooth.

Katira couldn't help but smirk a little. Not at Taraxa, but at all the things she was thinking in her little head. Namely, what she could do to Taraxa. And no, not in the fun, life affirming way. She rolled her eyes at the suggestive grin, smirking a little, and glanced down at her pile. It was less of a demure look-away and more counting the shells. She had figured out a set number to collect, and was still short.

That decided, she began to pad away from the pile. It seemed Taraxa was set on bugging her today, the big lump of fur, so she wouldn't just sit around and make it easy for him. She began looking for shells again, her ears swivelling back at his little joke. "I can think of a few dozen reasons." She said over her shoulder, laughing a little. He thought he was sooo clever. He wasn't the first, and he wouldn't be the last. She turned around in time to catch just where his eyes were lingering, and glared at him pointedly.

"Last I knew, my eyes weren't down by my tail, Taraxa." She said, her tail flicking back and forth in a rather pointed manner. "Don't you have a sibling to bother?" Oh, yes. She'd heard about the Return of Tazira. Really, she was grateful. Maybe with a girl around who was related to him, Taraxa would cool his jets.

Although, if this were any indication, the only thing that could cool his jets was an icebath in the water. A tempting idea, really.

Ohhh, she so wanted him. He could tell by her shy little glances down at the shells and the come-hither smile she had on her lips. Oh, Taraxa knew how to read the signs, and all of Katira's signs pointed to YES.

He followed her as she moved away, completely unaware that she had been busy before he'd bumbled in her direction. His eyes remained locked on that pretty bum until she caught him at it and Taraxa couldn't help but laugh... at least until she mentioned Tazira. Gods DAMN Tazira. She was already making it hard for him to get any tail, and soon he would have to go looking for it OUTSIDE of the pride. It was starting to really piss him off.

"Actually I finally got away from her. Don't remind me," he whined, shaking his head, "she's made my life difficult enough."

The ego of some of these men was ridiculous, in a sense. But it was also something she grew up with. Males like her father, Vgari, seemed to have gone the way of the Gods. Unavailable and often gone entirely. It was of no surprise, then, that her pointed remark to keep his eyes off her arse only resulted in laughter.

If she were one of her sisters, he would have bore a slap for that. But Katira enjoyed bringing men to tears with her wit, not her strength.

She watched him with a wry smirk when the conversation turned to his sister, and laughed. "Be glad you only have one, and not four." She said, looking for a shell and kicking the sand about with her paws to dig a little. "She can't be that bad." Although, from the stories she'd heard... It was likely.

"She's nothing like you," he muttered reverently, trying to lay the charm on thick. "She's a terrible lioness and I only hope that one day she speaks ill of the Warlord and he knocks her down a few notches." Taraxa shook his head, "She's probably off harassing Gunnar now. That's her second most favorite thing to do, Gods save us. I have to admit, though," he said thoughtfully, watching Katira dig for shells, "she is good to my children."

And everyone knew Taraxa loved his children.

"So... Katira," Taraxa said as seductively (sleazily) as possible, "Why have we not spent more time together? It is something we should remedy." Wink wink.

She snorted a little, shaking her head at him, and smirked. "More like Amma, then." She deadpanned. Amma was probably the most volatile of her sisters; that she reproduced and spawned more volatile cubs was only a hint that it was in their blood. She'd long since bottled up her volatility when she retired from Reaverdom, though. It had its uses, and it had also had its negatives. The negatives, she found, far outweighed the positives. Smirking a little as he spoke, she nodded. "Good." She said, glancing up and smirking at him. "Someone should be there to teach them how to be proper Reavers, right?" Ohhhh. Burn.

Rolling her eyes again (it's a theme in this one, amirite?) at his sleazy little tone, she looked over, and lifted an eyebrow. "Last I checked you were off spreading your seed all over the Savannah." She smirked at him. "I've been busy." So there. She carried her shell back to the pile nearby, dropping it on top. Multitask there, Katira.

If he thought for a second she was interested, he'd never leave!

Taraxa grunted. Women were such feisty and temperamental little things. The only female that hadn't been was Moray, the mother of his cubs. No, such a strong and soft-spoken lioness she was, not angry and moody like so many Stormborn females.

At her dig about his children, one that caused a shadow of hurt to glimmer deep in his eyes, all humor left his face. "I am not a bad father," he said softly. "I love my children, they are strong and proud. My daughters are beautiful, both apprentices to very highly-respected priestesses. My sons, though pesky and rowdy, bring me great pride. They will continue to bring me pride in whatever roles they take in the pride."

Taraxa rose to his feet. Why did he insist on sniffing after females that would only bring him grief? It was obvious that Katira was not interested as indicated by the digs at his parenting methods.

"I would ask of you to save me two shells, large and bowl-shaped. Gifts for my daughters," he said curtly. She was digging around in the sand like a babe, so he might as well request something of her before taking his leave. "If you do not have any, perhaps you may know where I might find them."

Katira would have flinched if she were younger; guilt hit her eyes briefly before it was tucked away. She rolled her shoulders instead of her eyes, this time, and turned towards him.

"I was implying more that you're not as good a Reaver as you think." She said, quieter than before. "Not that you're a bad father." Taraxa wasn't like her own father, and for that she did judge him a touch, but there was no doubt in the lawspeaker's mind that his cubs loved him. And that was, in the end, more important than anything else.

"Although Loki..." She said wryly, trying to salvage the situation. She certainly didn't want to encourage Taraxa's chasing, but she didn't want to make an enemy of him, either. "I'm hardpressed to believe such a trickster is yours. If not for the pelt, I wouldn't believe it." She smirked a little.

"I'll find some." She said of the shells, looking around with a nod. "The priestesses often take the best ones, but I'm sure I can find something suitable." She looked back at Taraxa, and her ears flattened a little. "I meant no disrespect." She offered. It was as close to 'I'm sorry' as she'd get. That counted, right?

Taraxa was silent for a long, long moment, those mellow golden eyes locked on Katira's blue ones. He knew he wasn't a perfect lion. He had his weaknesses -- females, namely -- and while he'd never professed to be the best Reaver around, Taraxa would easily and without question give his life if the Warlord asked it of him. He might have terrible luck with Thralls and females, but he was an honest lion who had an infallible loyalty for his pride.

"Loki is a good boy," Taraxa said softly, "a little misguided and troublesome but he will grow out of it, of that I am fairly certain."

"None taken," he lied smoothly. With a reassuring smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, Taraxa dipped his head. "I'll leave you to your work then, Katira. Apologies for any offense I might've given."

Katira didn't look away; it wasn't in her to look away. Vjarga had made sure his girls knew that looking away was a weak trait. She was nothing if not strong. She smirked a little, nodding. "I'm sure his talents will be put to good use by our War Lord, if nothing else." Although from what she'd heard, Loki had managed to get poor Aesir with his trickery, too.

She nodded again, and found it easier to just go with what he said instead of challenging it. She was not interested in Taraxa's feelings. However her words had come across, she made it clear what she meant, and he could take that however he liked. She offered a small smile in return to Taraxa's, and glanced at her pile of shells, nodding.

"I'll come see you when I find the bowls for your girls." She said, looking up with him and then turning away. It was as good a 'see you later' as he'd get, really. She went back to her task, trying to find that peaceful spot she'd been in before.

Funny how guilt screwed with that, though.
