PostPosted: Thu Mar 17, 2011 12:38 am

It hurt to breath. It burned to move; his body screamed with every pulse of his heart. His pulse was painfully slow, and each time his heart beat, Sakn could feel it in his toes, the tips of his fingers.

The redhead bit his lip to hold back the cries that threatened to break loose. He couldn't break down, but the pain was unbearable. For too long he had been numbed, and the sudden shock of agony paralyzed him. Or perhaps it was the nasty stab wound somewhere in his gut- he couldn't move to see it, and the pain spread from so many spots that it impossible to pinpoint.

The sun was rising through the trees, the dawn sharp and beautiful in contrast to the ugly scene. Sakn was resting in his own blood, his head bleeding from the rock Sara had smashed against his head along with his gut, and the rest of him was covered bruises.

Sakn groaned as the sun burned his eyes, and tried to get comfortable on the cold, hard ground. He wished that he could talk to someone right there and then. The loneliness hurt him more then the physical wounds. For so long he had never felt alone, Hyun was always there. And as the world warmed around him, the young man shivered and closed his eyes. He was tired.

Tired, alone, and cold.

Xiu didn't know why he was out walking. He'd felt listless and tired yet full of pent up energy all at the same time. He envied Bai Hu who walked in his slow steady steps next to him. The tiger was huge now, nearly to Xiu's elbow, yet despite all that bulk Bai managed to pad quietly along as if he didn't have a care in the world. And perhaps he didn't.

The monk was missing something and he knew exactly what it was. Xiu figured that's why he was compelled to walk in the lonely woods where he had fought with Jianyu. He was searching, but he knew he wouldn't find anything. Sakn was gone. To where Xiu didn't know. He hadn't heard from the male since the big fight and that had felt like ages ago. Xiu had nearly resigned himself to the fact the Sakngea was long gone again.

That is until Xiu nearly stumbled over the redhead's prone form.

"Sakngea?!" His voice rang out unusually loud in the near silent forest. A fine tremble worked it's way down his body as he took in the bloody sight of his friend. Panic nearly overwhelmed Xiu but he fought against its pulling tide as he ran to the person he loved most in the world. "Oh, Sakn." Not knowing what to do, Xiu's hands hovered over Sakn's body, wanting to help but not wanting to cause more pain either.

Xiu?

Sakn stiffened as the voice shattered the morning silence. He should have heard the young monk from his footsteps, should have been aware of Xiu. But he didn't even know his best friend was there until he was down beside him, holding him, touching him. And it was both frightening(was it real? Or a dream before he died?) and relieving. Xiu was here. Everything would be fine. His eyes cracked open, squinting against the light, and the sight of Xiu above him, worried and afraid as he looked, was like seeing paradise. Bai Fu (he could see him out of the corner of his eye) was a sight for sore eyes, even. These were good people, good things to see.

"Hey...Xiu," Sakn's usual voice was raspy, broken and slow, but it was clearly his. He tried to give the young man a reassuring smile then, and cracked out, "Y'always show up a'da bestta times, don'cha?"

Already he was back to his antics, trying to act tough. Trying to make light of a far too serious situation.

And then a thought hit him, and Sakn's face grimaced, a failed attempt at a scowl. Why was Xiu out? This was a dangerous place, with dangerous people out. Dangerous people like hi--No. Not like him. But still, others. "W-why you out here, Xiu?"

Xiu smiled softly at Sakn. HIS Sakn. This wasn't someone who was fettered by a malicious spirit anymore. However it had had, Xiu knew that beyond a doubt that Sakn's own soul was free and belonged to himself again. The bodily injuries were pressing, yes, but a huge chunk of Xiu's worry was chipped away when he felt the redhead's cool skin. Sakn was back.

"Hey, Sakn. I try my best," Xiu teased. He brushed strands of red hair out of Sakn's face, trying not to grimace when he felt that it was all caked heavily with blood. He daintily touched the scare on Sakn's face then, remembering the fight. I seemed Sakn had been in another. Was it before or after the evil spirit had left him? Xiu prayed for the former. The normal Sakn never fought like this. Or so it had always seemed to Xiu.

"I was compelled to be here," he replied, voice serious. It was true. He had been compelled to be here. By who or what he didn't know but he'd pray and offer sacrifices to the nameless entity when he returned home.

"The question is Sakn, why're you out here and covered in blood? Are you...hurting too much?" Even as he said it, Xiu's heart was breaking at the sight of his friend. He so badly wanted to healer Sakn, to do something to ease his pain, but he knew nothing of such things. Still though, the need was hot and coiling in his belly, trying to push him into action.

He had to do something.

Sakn frowned deeply at Xiu's explanation, but he had little energy to argue about things, so the redhead let it slide.Only to have his eyes jerk back up to Xiu's as the young man questioned him. Emotions flashed behind his eyes, confusion and regret and something akin to embarrassment. Then his lip stiffened and he tried to bottle up everything that had happened. He couldn't tell Xiu what he had done, how he had gotten this way. How would Xiu react to that?

He couldn't risk it.

So instead, he focused on the second question, and slowly raised his hand, wincing and inhaling sharply as he pressed his fingers lightly to the general area of his stomach wound. "W-well, I'm kinda bleedin' a bit, I s-s'pose," sure, it was a lot more then a bit of bleeding, the front of his shirt was stained deep red, and it stuck to his skin, peeling uncomfortable as the Sakngea shifted his body.

"Tired, too," he added weakly, closing his eyes again. He had lost a lot of blood, and it was getting hard to keep his eyes open. He just wanted to sleep.

Xiu's eyes misted with tears and he nearly gave into the over whelming need to cry. Both because Sakn was bleeding so much and because Xiu believe that the redhead didn't trust him. Did Sakn think he was stupid? That he wouldn't figure things out? If anything Xiu knew he had fought and fought hard. With who or what he didn't know, but he wanted to know. Watching Sakngea's face he knew the male wouldn't be the one to tell him.

Would Sakn ever trust him?

Everything he was feeling was derailed at the weak fluttering of Sakn's closed eyes. It could wait. Everything. His doubts, his wants, it could all wait. Sakn NEEDED him and Xiu was going to help. Somehow.

"Sakngea!" Xiu cried in alarm, his hands on the boy's shoulder's now. "Don't fall asleep. Please. Open your eyes," he urged. "I know you're tired, but it'll be okay. I promise." Xiu didn't know what he was promising. Sakn was could die in his current state. Xiu could feel the beginning of the male's soul like he never had before.

That's when Xiu really did start to cry. And with his tears came a strange sort of tingling in his fingers that traveled through his entire body. He felt hot and itchy, like his skin was much to tight for his body, like something needed to get out.

Xiu put a hand to Sakn's belly, feeling the blood around his fingers. He called Sakn's name again and touched his face. The tingling was worse now. Licking his lip uneasily, Xiu suddenly pressed his mouth to Sakn's in a gentle kiss. The kiss was a catalyst and the energy whirling around inside of Xiu finally had a place to go and that place was Sakn. In a soft whirl of wind, a healing took place, sealing Sakn's bloody wounds and returning some of the life back to him.

Sakn had come to accept that he wouldn't leave this place. He had, long before Xiu showed, decided his death was inescapable. So when Xiu's voice echoed in his mind, calling to him and insisting he stay away, he struggled to do what his friend asked, but the grasp of warm death held him close; refused to let him go.

The next thing he felt was warmth, heat against his stomach and his lips. Then came the lightening. It was the best way for Sakn to describe it. A sudden burst of energy that crashed into him, kick-starting his fading heart and putting his mind into overdrive. His felt warm, tingling at the finger tips. His stomach felt like it was stretching, changing. And then the warmth faded and the tingle of power faded.

Sakn jerked up with a gasp, and groaned as his muscles protested the movement. Yet that was all that hurt. The redhead ran a hand over his stomach, fingers trailing across the red, sore patch that had been a bleeding wound until moments ago. His fingers then rose to his head, wincing as he pressed his fingers against the bruise forming where the rock had hit him. Yet there was no wound.

The young man turned his head to Xiu then. Xiu, who looked pale, shaking and upset. Xiu, who had just saved him. For surely it had to be Xiu, no one else was here to help him. It was like earlier, with Sara, but more intense. The energy used to save him right now had been sharp and unrefined, strong and determined. Sara's power had felt warm, controlled, nervous.

"Xiu," he smiled softly at the other boy, before moving, careful and with a wince as his muscles fought against the movement, and pulling the younger man to his chest. He was alive, and it was all because of Xiu. Xiu had saved him.

He deserved something.

"Xiu," the redhead started again, struggling to find the right words to say. How to start? How to tell his best friend, the person he cared for most, what he had done. What he had become; how it had ended? "She--she's gone."

Xiu couldn't help it. He laughed. He laughed so hard that he started to cry as he hugged onto Sakn tightly. The relief that had washed over him was so great that Xiu found himself too wrought to even properly express himself. He knew the She Sakn spoke of. He didn't know how she'd come to be or how Sakn he'd gotten rid of her. And it didn't matter. The only important thing was that Sakn was whole and well, free of the malignant spirit that had inhabited him.

Pulling back, the young monk stared at the familiar freckled face. He was smiling widely despite the tears that flood down his cheek. "There's no one around," Xiu said with a hiccuping laugh right before he pressed his mouth to Sakn's in a bit of a sloppy kiss that was full of passion and the abounding joy that Xiu felt, as well as every other indescribable emotion racing through him.

"I'm so glad Sakn," Xiu said once he'd broken the kiss. He ran his fingers gently through the male's hair, un-knotting a bit of the blood drenched pieces. "Let's leave this place and go home. Bai can help carry you if you can't walk yet." His voice was a bit awe struck as he realized he'd just healed Sakn. It was a distant feeling though, his mind too cluttered with his friend to think of anything further.

Sakn grinned at Xiu as his friend laughed, basking in the moment and its strange sort of normalcy, and when the monks eyes welled with tears-tears that rolled suddenly down the young mans cheeks- , Sakngea's eyes widened, nervousness and confusion momentarily etched onto his face. And when Xiu wrapped his arms around Sakn, the redhead clutched him tight, his fingers tightening into his friends robes, holding him tightly to himself.

When Xiu pulled back and smiled at him with that tear-stained cheeks, Sakn couldn't stop the infectious and familiarly foreign smile that spread across his face, and ignored the burn of tears in his own eyes. Xiu's comment made him laugh, a sharp awkward laugh, like he had forgotten how to do it properly, and then he lifted a hand and brushed the younger man's hair back behind a fin. The laughter was ended by those familiar and sweet lips pressed against his, and Sakn struggled into a better, more upright, position, eagerly returning the passion with his own. He could almost taste the happiness on Xiu's lips, or perhaps it was just the saltiness of his friends tears.

"Me too," Sakngea croaked when they broke, his eyes closing as Xiu's fingers combed through his bloodied hair. He bit back the urge to complain about the way his hair tugged slightly when Xiu untangled a knot, and instead focused on the moment, on the perfectness and strangeness of it.

"Home," he said it softly, like it was a magic word, and perhaps it was, because a warmth spread through Sakn as the word echoed in his head. He could go home now. Xiu still wanted him, and he could go home, the real him.

His face flushed red under his scales when Xiu mentioned his walking capabilities, and grumbled, "I gawt this," with a huff. The young man then struggled to his feet...or tried, at least. The world spun like an out-of-control top, and Sakn's heart skipped a beat; his stomach twisted with dizzy nausea. He managed to get onto his feet, though, but once he tried to take a step forward, gravity slammed him down, and Sakn fell awkwardly onto his a** and groaned.

"Don' say anythin', j's get y'ur housecat over here," the words were grumpy, irritable, but there was a curving smile on Sakn's lips, a certain laughter in his voice.

Things would be better now.
