Anyone here in a corps? If so which corp and which instrument do you play?
I'm interested in joining a junior corps next year and then going out for the Cadets (I've been recommended to do so by a brass caption head of an open class corps and by a tech who was a lead in the cadets), and I'm in need of some advice....

I would go for it I''m thinking about doing a DCA corp next year and if I like it maybe doing a DCI corp if I can, But thats only if I get really good haha.

I know I'll never be able to do DCI because it would ruin my oboe embouchure, but I wanted to march with the Reading Buccaneers this year...my parents won't let me, though. I know a lot of the staff there (drill writer, music and visual techs), as well as current and former members. My marching band also borrows their horns during marching season!
Our tuba player is marching with Boston this summer, though.

I'm sure jealous of your tuba player, but I just got asked by the brass caption head and my band director (program director as well) of the Raiders DCI to play lead soprano biggrin im so excited!!

I'm in Music City drum and bugle corps and I play mellophone. Were marching 150 members (max.) this year after only being a 3 year old corps so I'm really excited!

I'm planning to audition for a front ensemble spot in the Colts drum corps next year. Speaking of recommendations, apparently a percussion judge wanted me for his indoor drumline, but I lived too far away from the rehearsal venue...

If I played a corps instrument, I would love to do it before college. Unfortunately, I am but a flute. xD Yes, I could learn a corps instrument, but I'm having enough trouble learning viola to the level of "I play viola" rather than "I am learning viola".
