►Soquili's Name: Aulis -- Finnish for "willing, helpful"
►Gender: Male.
►Temper: Biddable.
►Personality of Soquili:
Aulis owes his life to the various females that have crossed his path. As such, he is forever dedicated to any female he might come across, willing to help them in any way they deem necessary -- carrying things, digging holes, providing food, to name a few services he's provided -- simply because he enjoys being helpful. He is a very, very respectful stallion towards any and all mares. Aulis rarely speaks and when he does it's only because he has been spoken to. He holds no opinions of his own, really, and Aulis will live to serve whichever female lays claim to him. He will want for nothing as long as he has a female to serve and a place to call home. Females are the superior sex as far as Aulis is concerned. Aulis has abandonment issues, not awful ones but he has fears of being left all alone with no purpose in his life. That is his biggest fear.
Though he is gentle and kind to any and all females he serves, he reserves his utter dedication and compliance to the one who will claim him. No request given is too big, no demand made will go without attempt. When faced with 'sharing' his Mistress, Aulis will remain stoic about the situation though he will inwardly battle his jealousy. He would never do anything to anger his Mistress.
When it comes to other males, Aulis is not especially fond of interacting with them. He does so only because he does not wish to be a disruption within the Flock. As such, it is hard for Aulis to make friends within the flock. He is courteous, yes, but not overtly warm and welcoming to the males. Where most males seek each other out for companionship, Aulis prefers sitting alone, perhaps crafting or creating inks from berries and petals.
Aulis loves to make pretty things. He loves to make paint or inks by crushing berries and petals, even going so far as to use blood in order to get the perfect crimson color. Aulis would love to become skilled in perfumes, creating different scents out of various plants, barks, berries and flowers for the females in the Flock to wear if they so desired.
The thought of becoming a father terrifies Aulis. He has no urge or desire for any sort of sexual relationship with females. In his mind he simply isn't good enough for such interactions. Having performed the act only once before, Aulis would prefer never to have to provide a female with foals. However, if asked, of course he would never turn down a request that might anger a female. He simply doesn't have the sexual drive that many males might.
►Backstory:
Aulis lost his mother at a very young age -- nearly fresh from his basket, perhaps just a few weeks old. That time in his life is very cloudy. He isn't even quite sure what happened to his mother. All he can really say about the situation is that when he went to sleep the night before, she was there, and when he awoke the next morning he was alone and the ground was cold where she'd previously slept. Aulis remained there until hunger drove him on.
Scrawny, terribly upset and alone, Aulis wandered aimlessly until he encountered an old hag named Phelba. Phelba was old and arthritic and hadn't aged gracefully. It was hard for her to walk long distances and so she took Aulis under her wing in hopes that they might help one another. They had a symbiotic relationship of sorts. Phelba provided Aulis with a guiding hoof, a warm body to sleep next to at night, and the motherly companionship that he utterly craved. Aulis assisted Phelba by running errands, gathering supplies for her medicines, and watching after her during the days she felt sick. They were together for nearly a year before Phelba passed away beneath the early morning sunshine with Aulis by her side. He knew what had happened. He was heartbroken, remaining near her body for nearly two days before moving on.
Heartsick now, having lost his dearest friend and mother-figure, Aulis moved on. He traveled alone for months on end, the silence and lack of companionship making him feel lost and hopeless. He ate but found no pleasure in food, grazed amongst flowers but found no happiness in the colors, slept under the moonlit sky but found no wonder in the stars.
After the passing of many months, Aulis met a female that was traveling alone. She was a flighty git but Aulis couldn't see that aspect of her personality, so happy was he to have actually found another companion. Her name was Sparrow, and she was a chatty little thing. She brought color back into Aulis's life, laughter, and more importantly the companionship that he'd missed after losing Phelba. Aulis had never been happier. He provided for Sparrow, bringing her sweet berry treats, beautiful flowers and gifts. He showered her with attention, doing anything she desired of him. To an outsider it would've been obvious that she desired more from him -- perhaps to start a family -- but Aulis didn't have a clue. It never even struck him, sadly enough.
Months of traveling together made Aulis believe that they would be together for always. That would not happen. Aulis never even thought that she would want to start a family with him. No, that thought had never even crossed his mind. Sparrow said her goodbyes one foggy morning in the crisp autumn air. She'd found a different male, one that treated her as she desired. She was furious and Aulis didn't understand what he'd done wrong. Sparrow called him a simpering fool and turned tail, leaving him there, alone, to fight his tears.
Was this the end of his life? Would things never get better for him? Would he ever be enough for any female? A young stallion now (and a rather handsome one at that) Aulis was alone once again. He fell into the despair he'd felt after losing Phelba and before meeting Sparrow. It didn't take him long to find yet another female, named Felice, and for a moment he allowed himself to feel that surge of joy.
Felice was a dominant female, rough and tumble with little grace or tact. After spending a few days with Aulis she demanded that he mate with her and provide her with foals. Out of fear Aulis did as she requested and once she'd birthed the foals, Felice drove Aulis from her territory. Bewildered, upset and completely without a will to live, Aulis was certain he was bound to live the rest of his life alone and without purpose... until now.
One might think that with all of the events that have taken place in his life, Aulis would hate females, despise them. No, not the case. He was happiest during his times with Phelba (and to a lesser extent, Sparrow) and only wants to feel that once more. To serve a female, to make her happy in even the smallest ways, well, that is all that Aulis craves.
