Age: 26
Appearance: Tyler stands at around 6'4", with a lanky sort of frame. His hair is a black so dark that it tends to have blue highlights, cut short and 'styled' rather messily. His eyes are a piercing emerald green half-hidden behind a pair of rectangular-framed glasses and set in a narrow, almost 'cute' face. Tyler isn't very muscular, though he does keep in shape by walking to and from work - as the Lab isn't far from his apartment. Typically, he wears dark pants and shoes with some kind of brightly colored shirt, and a white lab coat over it all.
Occupation: Head of a Research Lab on Cryptozoology
Personality: For the most part, Tyler tends to be a rather quiet and serious individual. In several ways, he's a bit of a workaholic. His research is everything to him - though he does have a few friends that can pull him out of his Lab from time to time. In his work, he is efficient and dedicated, for the most part. There are times, however, when something will catch his eye and he'll leave whatever project he's currently working on to chase a lead he knows is probably a dead end - simply because it's interesting. Whenever he's not working, his favorite thing to do is sit down in the old armchair in his living room and read. Upon first meeting others, he can often seem a bit blunt and cool - especially if you're interrupting his work in some way - but he thaws out pretty quickly. Hidden beneath his serious mien there is a sharp wit and sense of humor, though it's rarely shown to those outside his small circle of friends.
History: Tyler was born in the suburbs of Aerr, into a rather typical middle-class family. He has two sisters, both older than him, and his parents still live in the house he grew up in. Throughout his young life, Tyler was always something of a 'geek'. He was wearing glasses before he started kindergarten, and was always encouraged to pursue whatever course he wanted in life, no matter what anyone said about him. Unlike a lot of youngest children, Tyler was never spoiled by his parents, but they did try to give all of their children whatever they wanted within reason. Even as a fairly young child, Tyler knew that he loved science, and especially biology. He didn't know exactly what he might do with this love until much later - though stories of strange and supposedly extinct creatures appearing in the wild always fascinated him. For a long while, Tyler simply stayed in school, moving almost inexorably toward the sciences - the newest field of study in Levintol. Through various means and jobs, he raised the funding to start a Research Lab of his own, based around Cryptozoology. It was whilst he was studying a supposed "Roc" feather one day that one of his assistants noticed and mentioned Amerald to him. Since then, he has followed the other's work, and always been quite interested in learning more about it. Tyler currently lives near the outskirts of Aerr, and has a fairly sizable house and backyard, making it a bit easier for him to hide Kennet's unusual appearance from most people.

Name: Kennet
Personality: Proud and arrogant to a fault, Kennet absolutely cannot stand being told he's wrong about anything. This can get him into a fair bit of trouble, both with his guardian and with others. Though Tyler isn't mean about it, he does find himself almost constantly having to drum any sort of correction into his charge's head. Kennet also tends to be something of a 'wild child', consistently finding things to get into - then oftentimes not being able to get himself out again. However, since he's extremely hesitant to ask for help, Kennet has developed something of an uncanny cleverness that helps him out of these situations - sometimes. He could likely be very good in school-type smarts if he applied himself to such things, but he sees that as 'below him'. He'd rather be clever and get by on his own than have to learn things, or rely on anyone else. As such, he can be quite rude to those who are obviously smart - like Tyler. Toward others, he almost always comes off as arrogant and a bit cold, but then he'll turn around and do something interesting or clever just to garner attention. It's actually incredibly important to him to be noticed and seen, though he refuses to listen to anyone on the best way to go about that, simply trying to forge his own road toward 'fame'.

Entry One - Well, I must say that . . . this is likely to be quite interesting. Amerald seems a very intelligent man, not unlike myself. From what I can tell thus far, his research is not quite the same as my own - but he definitely had seen results. Many, many results from what I gather. These children he has created from feathers of various birds are amazing, in more ways than one.
I am still awed that he trusts me enough to offer one of these children to me, even if he says it's also to watch over me. How would a child really stop me from revealing them? Not that I ever intend to but . . . the thought is still there. We talked more over dinner about the rules and such of this endeavor, and they all make sense. He's obviously thought about this a lot, and probably had many successes with other guardians and children.
I only hope I can live up to his expectations.
