Buried deep within the heart of the ship is the heart and soul of the Unity, the Singularity. The Singularity powers the shields, the life support, and the Singularity Drive. The Singularity can be used to power every system on the ship in lieu of the plasma core, but runs the risk of overloading the entire ship. It stays hidden in a sphere of almost impenetrable alloy with optic cables and circuitry running out of it and into the walls. Only the Chief Engineer and his two Singularity Specialists are allowed in the Singularity Vault. Even Admiral Luna cannot enter without an escort.
